Everything about this cruise was fantastic from booking to the finish. We had excellent service in every respect, even offered an upgrade to mini-suite for a small fee. The embarkation went the smoothest of any cruise we have ever been on and the debarkcation wasn’t just as smooth. The restaurants were super and the shows were broadway quality. Ports of call were totally amazing with the only drawback being that the ports was a little far away in two places. If you are interested in history then this cruise can satisfy all of your wondering about such places as Pompeii, Rome and Pisa. These were bucket list places for us and we are so glad that this cruise could reach so many in one week. All this not to mention the resort areas of Cannes and Palma De Mallorca! What a treat to be able to experience to much in such a short span of time. Recommend this cruise and company to anyone! It will be hard to cruise wot(any other cruiseline now. Read Less

We choose this cruise line because our family tries to go on a new cruise every year. This is my 3rd cruise and my families 4th. When we got to the terminal in Barcelona the Norwegian staff was right there to help with bags and made security a breeze. Especially for someone that has PTSD and can't handle lines or things not going smooth. The security staff helped us through the process and then one of the ships staff members was on the other side walking us to a check-in representative. As we got to check-in we walked right up to the counter, got our ID cards and then was taken to the ship. As we entered the photo staff was there to take our pictures. I was surprised on how helpful they were especially since we were a group of 8. On board the ship everything was extremely clean, staff was there to welcome us onboard and bar staff was offering drinks. After we got a drink we went up to the room where our bags were already waiting for us. On other ships we have waited up to 6 hours for our luggage. Our room was a good size, spot less and completely met our expectations. We couldn't have asked for a better steward. The towel animals he made were out of this world. On our first night we had went to shower and noticed that our shower head was broke. The next morning we let him know and it was fixed within an hour. Each night on the cruise ship we tried a different dinning hall. Each of the dining halls had amazing food. Nothing beats the steak house on this ship though. The chef at the steak house definitely knew what he was doing. Highly recommended. As for dessert, the best dessert you'll get on the ship is in the steak house. On a side note don't get the green tea cake at the hibachi. It tastes like card board and spinach. Overall I would say the trip was amazing. We booked the cruise through Costco and get an awesome deal. I highly recommend the excursions. If you want to save some money book them through Shore Excursions Group LLC. We did way more than what the cruise offered if we had booked with them and saved money. Firdoze from the photo crew by far stood out from any other staff members on the cruise. She knew us by name, was very patient with the special needs party in our group, always livened up the area and when it was time to purchase our pictures she was right there to help explain the process. At one point I got beyond confused with the pricing and was getting frustrated because the computer and the sign said two different prices. Firdoze came and helped us print our pictures we wanted. Helped us determine which package was best for us and even saved us over $200. Major kudos to her for all of her hard work helping us. Read Less

We chose this ship mainly for the ports but also wanted to try a larger ship. It was our 25th anniversary trip and we wanted to visit all the ports while having to only unpack once. The Epic gives you so many options for dining, drinks and entertainment while on board. We loved the freestyle sytem but made reservations ahead of time for both main dining restaurants- which were amazing both for service and food. So many places to relax and order cocktails, listen to Beatles music or dueling piano or shows - I don't get people who don't enjoy themselves on this ship- if not happy with one thing try another! We enjoyed the excursions thru NCL. Lots of history with really great tour guides! A bit rushed but had to expect that. The room with balcony was great! Some reviews we had read really made the room sound cramped and horrible. It's fine, if spending a lot of time in your room then you are missing out on all the great amenities this ship has to offer. Last thing - ALL the crew members we interacted with were friendly and happy. I'm not sure how they kept this up all week but they did! Read Less

We booked this ship for the itinairy and because of the reviews. It’s our 7th cruise. We cruised Royal Carribean ( Allure, Oasis, Quantum, Jewel) Norvegian Getaway, and Canival. We are a big family with 4 kids ( 13 to 19) we love this ship. Stateroom are very well organise, lots of storage it’s impressive. The variety and quality of food is remarkable at the buffet best we had. In the main dining room we had great and fast services but we usually arrive around 6:45 pm if you plan to eat after 19:00 it get more busy and services take more time. We love the shows very good and divertising, the magician is so good, we saw free shows every night and enjoy ourself. My 17 years old son loved the teenclub we did not see him the hole week. We try every activities on the ship. We can not say a bad thing if you planned in advance what you want to do and arrive when it begins you never have to wait long line except for the waterslide with tube because the have to size of tube and not much of them but this is very fun. This ship made a priority on clean hand to avoid getting sick and we appreciate that no need to bring extra Purel at the table because the have extra disinfectant in the buffet. Any time you reenter the ship “washy washy lady are there”. Every people working on this ship is very nice, helping and smily. There is a very good “vibe” on this ship good music all time on the pool deck not to loud and we never feel it was crowded on this ship. Lots of chairs on the decks. You can always find a place to sit compare to Getaway. Best gym ever, good machine weighs ...it get busy cause it so good. Everything seem to be planed to facilitate our live there. Easiest way to get a tender is to go at the guest services not on the TV or cruise app. No confu sion or long wait in line to get off of the boat . It was a breeze each time no stress compare to all our other cruises. We did all port of cruise on our own. We walked to Palma (45 minutes) but saw nice bikes to rent just out of the ship that could have been a good idea because there a bicycle path next to the sidewalk from the boat to the city or you have the bus just there also, in Canne we went to the public beach ( 30 minutes walk 16 euro for two chairs and umbrella) Rome, Sorrento and Naples we hired driver from Private tour in Italy with Domenicco very good company. In conclusion we love, love , love this ship. Don’t hesitate. Read Less

Had a wonderful time celebrating my 60th birthday with wonderful crew who made us feel home & special everyday. The food was excellent & the ship has a lot of dining options. I was just disappointed by the check-in crew. They were in a hurry & did not even explain to us that we have UBP. If not for one of our pool waitress Rizalyn who told us when we ordered from her we would not know that we have UBP The shore excursions was a bit pricey for the value offered. We were also not given enough free time on our own especially we were with people that was on level 1 choice, people with mobility issue . The tour escort left us behind & we had to take a cab to go back to the ship. The item we left on the tour bus was also not returned back to us. Our first time on a cruise and chose the Epic. We had a great time for 7 days which are unforgettable. The ship represented all ages and all nations. The ship is one of the largest. Cabins are beautiful and clean. The dining options are nemerious and food is tasty. Plenty of bars and all types of alcohol Available. Plenty to do for ages. The embarkation and disembarkation are done so smoothly, effiecently And with professionalism. Watched the semi finals between England and Croatia and the staff put on food and drinks to feed until your were to your brim. The staff are the asset to the ship. Each and every member treats you as an individual and not as a number. Friendly, helpful always with a smile and serves you that you will never forget this trip. We stayed in mini suite with balcony. If you buy WIFI, it worked great. If I am to say one positive criticism is that the cabins are a bit dated and will do with a refurb. Love to go again soon. Read Less

First cruise - family of 4 - me 36 my husband 45 daughter 12 son 8 we stayed in Barcelona 3nights then docked there for a week. I should point out I hate the sea and boats so it’s took 7 years for my husband to convince me to try a cruise .. Kids were sold when they seen the aqua park and football pitch etc in brochure. On seeing the ship at the port - I’m not going to lie I was in shock - it is MASSIVE!!! Everyone says you’ll never know your on a boat - so I went for it!! Ok so you do know your on a boat ... if your lucky enough to have no choppy nights then it’s not bad.. we had 1 choppy night and I was terrified... it calmed down after 2 hours !! Once you get used to the slight movement you’ll be fine ( my 3 didn’t notice anything they were fine even in the choppy night ) just cause I have fears I felt everything more ... I would defo cruise again :) Something to consider before you arrive at the ship -pack a pool bag with suncream Swimming costumes etc as your luggage might not arrive for few hours at cabin. Towels available on pool Deck (no.15...) They do a ‘cruise leaving disco’ on this deck when ship disembarks m, it’s amazing lots of great songs dances etc to get the party started . The main garden cafe buffet restaurant is phenomenal if anyone says anything else their crazy - there is enough fir everyone - so so much choices... all day and night, this is a lot busier on sea days as everyone on board ... that goes for the pool area and aqua park ques etc - however there is plenty of staff to accommodate everyone being on board . We only had the one day at sea so wasn’t an issue for us. The docking days are great as if your staying on the ship you get a quieter day and hardly any ques on slides etc. The Taste restaurant is superb - great menu that changes slightly each day and lovely 3 course menu - no need to book you can just turn up. The Cagney steakhouse is all Angus beef and is a stunning restaurant and menu great wine menu too. Bare in mind this is a la carte so extra cost to eat here - we didn’t know this and got a bill for £114 (Check your daily news sheet that’s in your room every day for the restaurants that charge you .) The ice bar was a great experience for the kids - again extra £25 each - you get 2 drink each included - it’s the only ice bar at sea defo worth a visit . In the gaming room and kids aracde it’s all payment through your keycard - so either put a cap on your kids cards or an overall block or you’ll get a nasty bill at the end . The bar menu is outstanding all branded vodka gin whiskey etc including grey goose Hendricks Bombay saphire glenmorangie Bottled beers is mental corona modelo miller bud red stripe Stella also strong bow cider Smirnoff ice and cocktails galore . Try the mango ice daiquiri yummy!! The Beatles are fabulous defo worth watching !! The burn the floor show is great - fabulous dancing and all stunners .. The cabin we had was on deck 14 (no 14077) State cabin with balcony - defo needs the balcony for extra room but I’m sure you all know with it being a ship rooms are compact ... the top bunk bed gets pulled down for you each night with lovely towel shaped animals waiting for you .... If you want close to pool (deck 15 ) then book around this room number, as the exit door for lifts stairs and swim academy is all across from room number 14057 . Swim academy is the kids club it’s loveky big and packed of fun things to do . The best thing to get your kids to go to is the GLOW PARTY. Pack white clothes for this night even you adults as the after kids club party is on in the H20 outdoor bar for all the family where you get neon face painting - glow sticks - flashing light up battons and thee best dance tunes - everyone was up raving at this - really was a highlight to our cruise .... atrium on deck 5 has great family fun things to do - arts n crafts bingo game shows live music etc and the bar staff Marvin and IMade (I knicknamed him Maddy )are great fun we had a few laughs with them . We booked all inclusive with premium drinks packages and soda packages for us 4 - if you have to sign for something it means your paying extra so just watch out . Getting on and off ship fairly easy just need all key cards and passport for adults - on way back onto ship your bag goes through scanner like at airport - no liquids foods etc allowed on ship We never booked any excursions on board we made our own reservations once off boat and saved money .And casually done what we wanted when we wanted - kids didn’t want to leave the boat they loved the aqua park and pool so much . Pools are small and get really warm so you don’t really get cooled down much but that did g bother us . The climbing wall is amazing and staff very encouraging . The ship is soooo clean .... So all in all The Epic NCL is tremendous and us 4 will be back. Please go try it you won’t be disappointed Read Less

Spent a week on-board the Norwegian Epic sailing from Barcelona with stops in Naples, Rome, Florence, Cannes and Palma and absolutely loved every minute on-board this incredible ship. The ship itself is stunning with loads to do, plenty of places to eat, drink and lounge. I must admit I was a little worried on our first day which was a sea day as it was so busy (fully booked so over 4000 passengers) and the main deck (pools, etc) was very busy. Still managed to find a place to sit in the sun. However, on days in port it was completely different and very peaceful. Our cabin (12020) was compact but very comfortable. Loads of storage and a lovely balcony and Gemma popped in twice a day to make sure everything was clean and tidy for us, turning down the bed, making towel animals, etc. Food in all restaurants we tried (Taste, Manhattan, Irish Bar, Garden Cafe) was all fantastic, drinks (think we tried every bar) were always good and the staff were amazing. All very happy, helpful, friendly and keen to make sure you had a wonderful time. (Look out for Luigi at the Waves Pool Bar - what a guy! Knew our names from the first day and always looked out for us giving us a smile and a fist pump! Lovely guy!) Entertainment was great too - from the singers in the various bars to the variety show and Spiegel Tent Entertainment (although this was additional cost, it was excellent). We only visited Rome and Cannes (other days we made the most of the ship). Excursions can be expensive but we made our own way into Rome (via bus and train) which made it very cheap. In Cannes, the ship had tenders running all day so easily get into the town and well worth visiting! Met some lovely people on the ship too and it seemed everyone we spoke to was impressed with the ship and the facilities it offered. Overall, we would DEFINITELY go back and would recommend the ship. Had an amazing holiday so massive thank you to all the staff on EPIC! Read Less

Everything worked great with the cruise. It was our first cruise, so I was a bit nervous after reading some complaints on reviews...... hmmm well maybe I should not have read it as I believe now, that is you need to complain, well maybe you should not go on a cruise. We have absolutely nothing to complain about. Dining was great and we tried 3 Ala cart restaurants, they were all great and my favorite must be Le Bistro. We also eat all our breakfasts in the Garden Cafe. The Manhattan was also great and that was complimentary and it was a nice cozy restaurant and everyone took so good care of us. We eat at O'Sheehan's a few times as we did not feel so hungry and just wanted a snack or two. We will MOST likely do more cruises with Norwegian as we did really enjoy it. It was a great trip the only complain I have is that it was to short, I think next time we can do 14 days instead of 7. We stayed a few days in Barcelona before the cruise and one day after the cruise. We used Bags & Go to take care of our luggage, that was super as we did not have to carry anything. We left our bag outside the cabin the night before and then Bags & Go took our luggage to the airport for us, the only thing we needed to do was carry the bag 20 meter at the port :-) from the band, to Bags & Go's desk. We did see the Beatles show a few time and they are good, try to see it if you are going. We also did see Burn the floor and Priscilla - Queen of the Desert. Spa was great and we spend some time there, it was nice to go there and just relax, we had a spa cabin so the spa visit was included for us. SO our advice would be - GO, just GO and enjoy the fact that you are able to travel on such a great ship and see so many great places, we are a few lucky people who can do that, so enjoy it. We had a fantastic time on board the Norwegian Epic on our cruise covering the Western Med. The package we had included two free offerings. We chose unlimited beverages and specialty dining. By having both of these we know we saved several hundred dollars. The room we had was a very roomy and clean mini-suite. We enjoyed fantastic meals both in the specialty dining rooms (Cagney, La Cucina and Le Bristo) and in the Manhattan main dining room. Our favorite bar turned out to be the Maltings where the bartenders made us feel right at home and we now have several new drinks that we had never tried before. We were able to attend all of the entertainment experiences which we enjoyed thoroughly. We enjoyed dancing in the Bliss lounge and listing to the talented singers from Howl at the Moon. Although we enjoy dressing up several times during our cruises, the freestyle experience was also good and allowed us to pack lighter. We took two of the shore excursions offered by NCL and two from another source. They all turned out great with so much to see in each port. Barcelona is a great port to sail from and to since there is so much to see there. Sailing on the Epic was incredibly smooth and the ship looked great both inside and outside. When we were sailing we spend most of our daylight hours at the adult pool area, Spice H2O. Embarkation and Debarkation we very quick and simple. Read Less

We didn't go to any of the restaurants that you had to pay extra and we enjoyed the restaurants that were included. Interesting note when you buy drinks they take 20 per cent gratuity and also ask you for a tip?? Entertainment was great, shows were easy to pre-book if you didn't want to take a chance. Our favorite shows were Burn the Floor and Priscilla queen of the desert!! They were top quality shows. Loved our cabin steward!!! We did 2 tours one we booked through Tours of Capri and loved and our Monte Carlo Monaco and Eze tour through Norwegian and we were disappointed and should have booked on our own . Very rushed and guide was hard to understand. Loungers are hot commodity on the days at sea, save yours early. Read Less

This was my 4th time on the Epic and everytime I left the Epic previouosly, I said, never again! But I returned and boy was I happy that I did! Embarkation was very very smooth. I arrived at 10.45am and there was no waiting at all. Quick and easy. I had priority check-in and embarkation, but there were not too many people at the regular check-in desks either. Came on board and went for lunch at Taste, one of the MDR's. Very good and great service and staff! I read other reviews about the staff but I have to say almost everybody was real nice and remembered my name when they saw me again. I just had one small bad encounter with a young guy at guest services, but I forgot about that immediately, because it was just 1 among sooooooo many other great staff. The food was good. The buffet food is good and the specialty restaurants are really good. It all depends on your own taste. Also there in the specialty restaurants, people recognized me when I returned and they remembered my name. Teppanyaki is great! they make such a show out of it, it is hilarious. I didnt go to the MDR's for dinner, so cannot tell about that. The shows are awesome!! Burn the Floor and Priscilla, Queen of the desert, were incredibly good! Costumes amazing. I am happy I went. The Beatles were really nice, Leann was good, I enjoyed them all. I didnt go to the Cirque Dreams, because I am not a circus fan. All information about tenders, etc you can see on your tv. it is very clear and easy to find out everything. Also, your onboard account is on your tv. I also use the iConcierge app and it works well. My cabin was a Studio. I had been in a Studio before and I liked it. Only downside was my cabin steward who turned my cabin down before 7.00pm already and I got back from the pool after that, but she came back to give me new towels, etc. I never went to the solo gatherings in the Studio Lounge so I don't know how that was. There were 2 extra unexpected costs: some extra charge for the bottles of water that I bought (about $1,80) and an extra tax for the dining package (about $6,95). No other extra or hidden costs. I don't think NCL charges you for everything. My on board invoice was very low. I have no complaints at all. Overall I had such a great cruise. It was my 19th and I am going back on the Epic next year again! Read Less

I took the 7 day Western Mediterranean from Barcelona, and after spending 2 days in Barcelona I didn’t want to leave! However as soon as I got on the ship I was in total awe! Yes it’s massive but give that 2 days and you’ll navigate just fine! As a solo traveller I was in the studio cabins and I was super happy with my room and the solo lounge. Our coordinator Ruby did a great job of bringing us together and although I didn’t see the entire group every night I had a base of friends I could spend my time with each night. My only recommendation is that dinner was too early at 6pm after a long day of excursion where I would literally arrive at 5:30. The excursions were amazing and well worth the price, I had some great tour guides which made the experience for me. The ship was beautiful and my favourite locations were Maltings Bar, older crowd and great drinks by Joseph! Shakers had amazing martinis and O’Sheehans was good for a late night snack or breakfast on the way to my excursion. In terms of food, I would say it was good not great and my favourite dinner location was The Manhattan Room and Cagney’s was great for a steak if you have the specialty restaurant package or just want to splurge was well worth it! Overall I had an amazing experience, met some great people and will definitely cruise again! Read Less

We wanted to see a lot of places, and this cruise fit the bill. I booked many tours through Viator and CIty Wonders because the outfits guaranteed to get us to the next port if we did not return in time. We paid less money than booking Norwegian excursions and got to experience more things, based on talking with other people when back onboard ship. We also booked a driver for the day to see the Amalfi Coast. It was a splurge at 450 euros. But, our driver, Antonio, tailored the day to our interests: seeing the Amalfi Coast towns, stopping at scenic points for photos, shopping the market in Sorrento (where limoncello and olive is made), eating at Ristorante Zio Sam where food is grown across the street and served on a covered terrace overlooking Salerno Bay, and an hour stop at Pompei. In contrast, people on the ship's bus tour couldn't get as far up the coast as we did and ate at a "whack" pizza shop. (amalficoasttours.com) Before our cruise, we spent three days in Rome. Since we stayed close to the Vatican, we took a taxi to St. Peter's Train Station -- a straight shot to Civitachecci, rather than backtrack to Termini Station. The train ride was about an hour. When we arrived, we bought public bus tickets at the station's restaurant to get to the port shuttle bus. We arrived just as the embarkation process started; it was smooth, and we were on the ship in less than 10 minutes. For the ports, our first stop was Florence. We booked with Viator for a driver to take us directly to the town center, a 1.5-hour ride. I bought timed tickets beforehand for Michaelangelo's David statue in the Accademia. (We didn't do the Duomo steps but tickets are needed for them also.) I got a stunning piece of Murano glass for a necklace for 2,5 euros and my daughters got cashmere wraps for a song at sidestreet markets. My husband and I skipped Cannes because of Rick Steve's assessment of the town. We didn't book with a Viator tour in time to see Nice and couldn't take a train there because of a rail workers' strike. However, our girls took a ship tender to shore and walked around Cannes because they wanted to be in France. They wanted to buy chocolate and were stunned that 1 kg cost 92 euros! For Barcelona, we walked Las Rambala and then took a bus to Sagrada Familia. We ordered tickets ahead of time to go up in the Tower of Passion. Don't plan on buying tickets on site. You won't get into a tower and will waste a lot of time waiting in line. The cathedral was spectacular with all kinds of art depicting nature, designed by Gaudi. In Majorca, we took a taxi to Port de Pollenca Beach, a beautiful public beach where you can rent chairs and have bathrooms. It's clean and surrounded by a town where you can walk to get food. It was beautiful and worth the drive. Overall, we got a taste of the ports and enjoyed our time on the ship. Eating outside on the deck was wonderful. We booked several dining room meals at The Manhattan Room and Taste, included in our fare. We got three booking perks and chose unlimited drinks, which was fine for us. You do pay extra for cappuccinos. Skip the Wi-Fi. It is SLOW, and only one person in a cabin can have it. I got kicked offline in the internet cafe using my husband's sign in; I was waiting to print something for 9 minutes. We went to the Wi-Fi desk and had lost minutes restored. Overall, service and hygiene were top notch. For disembarkation, we rolled our suitcases off the ship ourselves in just a few minutes. For our first cruise, we enjoyed our time on the Epic. Read Less

While planning a vacation with family I wanted to have an experience of visiting places with abundance of history and culture and also have fun / entertainment in equal measure. As I was contemplating on how to go about it an advertisement on the NCL cruises in the print media caught my attention. Further online search revealed that the cruise was an optimal solution for all my vacation needs. After taking a considered decision I took the plunge and booked the cruise for my family vacation. Right from day one on board I knew that the decision has been the right one. My family was utterly thrilled with the whole experience. The stateroom on deck 13 was very well appointed with all the modern amenities in place. The steward assigned to our part of ship was amicable and very helpful which expedited our settling in and fining our bearing about the ship. Apart from the excursions at different ports of call the on board entertainment was of very high standard. The embarking and disembarking at the ports was a breeze. The handling of such a huge number of guests call for professional dexterity of very high order which was amply exhibited by the ship’s staff time and again. I would like to conclude by stating that the jewel in the crown of this cruise was the humongous food options available for the guests. In short we were spoilt for choice. On one hand was the seemingly endless buffet and on the other were the specialty restaurants. Even the main dining halls were an experience by itself. Cruising with NCL Norwegian Epic had been a very special experience for me and my family, memories of which we shall cherish for ever. Read Less

We were told that we could check in as early as noon, so we left our hotel at check-out time and took a taxi to the port. We arrived around 1 and were in our room about an hour later. This gave us a chance to check out the buffet and ship while waiting for our luggage to be delivered to the room. Our room was nice. It was small, but my husband and I did not find ourselves tripping over each other. I worried about our room being noisy because we were next to the steward's closet, but it was fine. We were out of the room most of the time and when we returned, we were too tired to notice anything. We took the time to book activities/shows for the week and found lots more activities than listed online. We booked the Beatles show for the first night and had a great time. Day 1- at sea Took the time to unpack, explore the ship and relax. Also reserved dinner at the Manhattan Room and a show for that night. The Manhattan Room was a nice experience. Food was good and arrived in decent time. Day 2 - Naples When we left the ship, there were lots of people offering taxi service and it was expensive. After walking a little further down the dock, we saw a bus tour company that took us to Pompeii for about 15 euros/each. The trip to Pompeii was relaxing. Views of farmlands and the ocean. Something I am not accustomed to seeing. We did not purchase tickets ahead of time to get into Pompeii to see the ruins, but the line was very short, so there was no problem. We also did not purchase a tour, but regretted that decision. We walked around the entire city, but had no clue about the historical sites aside from reading placards. I think we logged about 18,000 steps though. Upon returning to Naples, we walked around the city and had pizza in a small restaurant. Day 3 - Rome This is the day I looked most forward to. I planned to see the Colosseum, Vatican, Spanish steps, Trevi Fountain and anything else I could see. First of all, the tourism industry was on strike and our bus ride into Rome was canceled. We took the train into Rome and used Google map on our cellphone to find the Colosseum. I purchased tickets online prior to the trip, so getting inside was easy. I purchased a device that was sort of an electronic tour. The audio portion was helpful, but the video was a waste of time because it was too bright outside to see the screen. After enjoying splendor of the Colosseum, we left to find the other sites. I read reviews prior that said it was a waste of time to do the tours because the buses did not spend enough time at the sites, so we opted to find them ourselves. However, we found it difficult to do so, because we just weren't asking the right people. There was a scab-tour company doing bus tours, but they wouldn't give any information aside from the price of their tours. We ended going in the wrong direction and never made it to any of the other sites. We did stumble across a military museum, but that was NOT what I wanted to see. By the time we turned around, it was time to head back. We had to run to catch the train back to Civitavecchia. We caught the train but it had about five delays. We had to run to get the shuttle back to the ship and made it with maybe five minutes to spare. The shuttle driver did not move and were were in full panic until we saw several groups of people running toward the bus. It turned out that many other cruise mates were on that train and were also late. It was a stressful, tiring and disappointing day. After talking to a cruise mate, I discovered that we needed to get off the train earlier for Vatican City. After leaving the Colosseum, we needed to walk in the opposite direction to see the other sites. Sigh ... Day 4 - Livorno Took a train to Pisa with a shipmate who knew how to get around. It was a long walk from the train station, but pretty straight forward. We made it there and walked around for a few hours. We were going to go to Florence, but decided to just hang around Livorno for the last couple of hours and do some shopping. It was a fun day. Day 5- Cannes Cannes was beautiful. We took a ferry from the boat and just walked around sight seeing. We did not stray very far from the waterfront where the ferries were located. Walking around, we saw a beautiful cathedral, the location of the Cannes Film Festival and some great sites. The area has shopping for the ultra rich and for everyone else. We found nice shops that had great prices. It was a great experience and an overall great day. There were some ship mates who took taxis to drive along the coast and almost did not make it back in time. Day 6 - Palma de Majorca I didn't know what to expect from this stop, but it was a wonderful city. The first thing you when you go ashore is a castle. It was stunning. There was a flea market of sorts set up in the area. I'm not sure if it was for locals or because of the cruise ship. We spent hours walking around the city and saw lots of cool museums, cathedrals and other interesting sites. It was another great day. We got back to the ship early enough to participate in some activities, pack and have dinner. Day 7- Barcelona We arrived in Barcelona around 7 am and had to leave the ship by 9. It was bittersweet because we missed the ship, but looked forward to staying overnight in Barcelona. Because we had to leave the ship by 9, we got to spend more time in Barcelona. Our hotel was located right on La Rambla and we got to see lots of the city. Our flight did not leave until about 10:45 PM, the following day, so we got about 2 days of sightseeing. All passengers were to report to the ship between 6-6:30. This gave plenty of time to explore the ports of call and enjoy the activities on the ship before retiring for the night. The ship was quite full, but we were able to get through buffet lines very quickly. There were children on the ship, but they were busy with their own activities. I would definitely go on this particular cruise again. Read Less

The cruise ship itself was amazing. The staff were extremely friendly and willing to help you with any questions. The excursions were awesome and enjoyed them very much. The only issue we encountered was there was a bus strike in Rome, so our excursion was cancelled. We found our way to Rome (via train), but it just wasn't the same with a tour guide. I didn't attend any entertainment shows while on the ship, but other folks from my group had and they enjoyed them very much. The Maltings Bar and Shakers Bar were a bit noisy in the evenings, which made it difficult to talk. But if you moved away from them and sat in some chairs located between them, it was much better. I chose the Ultimate Beverage Package (as I had done on a previous cruise) and it was a great deal, especially if you enjoy an adult beverage. I'll warn you though, if you order a pop/soda in the dining room (Taste for example), they will charge you for the pop/soda. Other than that, I liked being able to order a drink and not worry about paying for it. Read Less

Chose the Epic and this itinerary to introduce the kids to Europe. What a great week! Mini suite 13227 Great room with plenty of storage. Full walk in shower. Read many complaints about the bathroom set up, I disagree we actually preferred the layout compared to the bathrooms on Getaway and Escape. Food was fine, buffets were always busy with normal cruise fare. Dining rooms were all good with excellent service. Embarkation and Debarkation were as good as it gets. Miami should take some notes from how Barcelona handles. Elevators were fine, yes they were busy when shows get out or dinner ends but they were not that bad. The elevator set up is preferred on Getaway and Escape. Loved the Cirque Dreams show. We had premium seats well worth it. Food was pretty good also. Only real complaints are why close the pools at 6pm when sunset is 915pm? Most families were returning to ship at 530ish and kids wanted to go into pool. Also the art auctions have to just go away. They take up too much valuable space on Epic. Assuming NCL good place another bar/experience in its place and make far more revenue. Total Waste of space, my opinion. Great Staff, clean ship, overall great way to get a sampler of some European Cities. Read Less

This was a fun filled birthday cruise for me. Our Cabin Stewart, Karin was the best. The cabin 13182 smelled moldy and sour. Karin did everything he could to clean and get rid of that unforgiven smell. Excellent job! Overall we enjoyed ourselves however we tried over and over again to book another cruise but the Next Cruise person was not in the office and never returned the four calls with messages that I left. The shows were excellent and so was the food. NCL Epic, please make sure that your public restrooms are cleaned and working properly. Also, I found that during breakfast some mornings the boil eggs were over 2days old. The grapefruit slices were our favorite for morning breakfast. Another enjoyable thing was the morning stretches and Abs workout. I wanted to get a massage for my neck and shoulders daily for twenty minutes but the Spa could not acomadate me. Overall, wonderful cruise. Read Less

Please don’t listen to the bad reviews and go find out for yourself how amazing the ship and the staff are. Embarking and disembarking g the ship was very well organised and relatively quick. The ship is beautiful I don’t think we got to see it all in one week to be honest. The food is tasty and the steaks are amazing. Definitely take the drinks package if you take a drink or you could run up a hefty bill. There is definitely no skimping on the alcohol and the variations of cocktails, spirits and beer are exceptional. There is entertainment morning until night, but the professional shows are amazing and need to be seen. There’s not one show you won’t enjoy! We had an inside cabin which was spacious compared to some I have been in, however looking back I would prefer outside or a balcony as inside can be very dark. Our room was spotless thanks to Michael looking after us in room 9019, such a friendly member of staff and always there. The staff are all excellent and always had a smile or conversation for guests. They all work very hard to keep guests happy and ensure excellent service.. We met some amazing people from all over the world and had a ball. We will definitely be cruising again with NCL ☺️ Read Less

The Epic is so beautiful and elegant. Traveling was my husband and I, and our three teen boys. We have been on a dozen cruises, and we were ALL impressed with this ship! I was worried about the size of the ship holding nearly double the amount of passengers. However, they staff double the crew other cruise lines have and we never waited for a seat or table at the bars or restaurants. The Manhattan Dining Room is the place to go if you like formal dining (it's free). Make reservations as soon as you get on. On two nights, there will be a show in THE MANHATTAN while you have dinner and you feel like you are in a New York Supper Club. After you get on board, go to deck 5 and there will be a table with the restaurant menus on it, and a crew member ready to make your reservations. The other main dining room is TASTE. It is less formal where you can wear shorts, and it feels rushed and not formal, to me personally. O'Sheehan's is another free restaurant that is great. You feel like you are in an Irish Pub. The buffet food is typical and ordinary. I also loved Shanghai, the Chinese restaurant - also free - but you feel like it is not! We ate there twice. The sushi bar is connected to it, may not be free - not sure. This boat is very organized and you must make reservations. For shows, go to the Box Office - also on Deck 5 - and make reservations for the entertainment shows you may want to see. I like the organization because this avoids huge lines getting in like on Carnival where people show up 30 minutes prior and then you can't get in. As to the ports, the itinerary was a bucket list! However, I have to say almost each port had it's issue. The Rome port is quite far away from the city so you will need to take a 45 minute taxi and experience a terrifying ride there haha. We tried to take the train, but apparently it had hit a bus so Plan B, taxi. The taxi ride was around 140 euros. And you will need to take one from the port to the airport on the way home. There were a lot of unaccounted expenses in getting from ports on this itinerary. First stop for us was Pisa. To get to the leaning Tower of Pisa, you must take a port shuttle (15 euro each from the port - you are NOT allowed to walk out of the port and it is a VERY long way) to the train station (3 euro) and then bus to Pisa. It sounds complicated, but it was pretty easy, and it was actually kind of fun to experience. As to the bus, they never ask for tickets so don't bother buying them. Second stop, Cannes, France. You must make a RESERVATION for the tender. I have never heard of this, but you must or you will wait until the last 13th tender. We got on tender #5 which was about 10 am. They begin tender operations at 7:30 am so i you have an excursion, make sure you reserve your spot. We went to a St. Honorat Island for a wine tasting. The boys had a great time exploring the island before the wine tasting. 16 and older are allowed wine in Europe with parent's consent. Majorca, Spain was easy to get around, no issues. Barceleona was another port far away from the city. We took a shuttle from the port to the city for an ebike (electric bike) tour of the city. That was very fun for the whole family, and you got to cover a lot of ground! Naples - if you do not have an excursion planned, there are MANY people at the port offering. We had already booked an excursion with Ciao Florence Tours and Travel for a pizza making class with a 4th generation chef. This actually was our boys favorite. He instructed us in Italian (tour guide was interpreter) and helped us all make our individual pizzas. It was the best pizza we had ever had! The restaurant was very upscale and beautiful, and true wood burning oven. It was a great experience, and I would highly recommend and would definitely do it again! Read Less

My first cruise experience.... NCL is international cruise with years of experience and number of big ships. On exploring the ship before departure helped a lot.Platform to meet world crowd and not only Asians. Embarkation and Disembarkation, Luggage transfer was very smooth. Ship is too big but very easy to explore as required information is always handy. My AFT Balcony room is the best as wind is not much and you can enjoy seating in the balcony. Dining..Huge spread for all including for vegetarians separate counters. Vegetarian cook should take more care in quality and preparation of food as per Indian taste. Speciality restaurants were kind enough to prepare your choice food if you order previous day. For drinks always take package or else it will be very expensive. You have wide range of drink selection. Entertainment is always their to keep you busy. Abba was good show, recommend to add BoneyM which will be appreciated by elder guests. Andre-Cruise director and his team were very good entertainers. Some adult shows are recommended for 21+ as this was missing. Casino was very good. Bar tenders were very efficient. MaryRose Washy Washy girl was very lively and always smiling. Stuart Restaurant Desk was very cooperative and always friendly . House keeping kept the room neat and clean at all times. Drinking water should be provided free to all cabins as it is very expensive to buy. Shore Excursions very expensive. Yes i will recommend my friends and family to take this cruise. Read Less

Barcelona This was our first cruise ever and it was a great trip. We flew into Barcelona two days early so we could readjust to the time zone and get a chance to explore. Impressions of the airport weren’t great, but we were only there on our way out the door. When we travel we go carry-on for anything up to 15 days, so we didn’t have to wait at the chaotic baggage claim. Taxis are very well regulated in Barcelona and as you exit the airport you can walk up to a taxi coordinator (yellow vest) who will get you a cab to meet your needs. You can also download an app to see how much your fares will be before you hail a cab from the google play store: AMB Taxi Barcelona app. During our time in Barcelona we stayed at the SB Plaza Europa. We arrived very early and the official check in time was 1500; however, when we asked if we could leave our bags and come back later the staff checked and our room was ready so we were able to check in early. We slept that whole day. On our second day in Barcelona we hiked to the Montjuïc Castle. About an hour walk (mostly uphill) from the hotel. Very interesting site and only € 5 per person to enter. Once we returned to the hotel we enjoyed the rest of the afternoon closer to the hotel and visited the Gran Via 2 shopping mall across the street and watched a Bocce tournament also across the street. The Ship The following morning our cruise began. Not knowing what to expect we took a cab to the terminal to check in. The cruise terminal in Barcelona is large, clean and overall well appointed. Our cab driver dropped us right at the door. We arrived at approximately 1100 with the expectation that we would board sometime around noon or later. Check in was fast, we were completely checked in and on board the ship by 1130. As we boarded the ship most guests were shuttled to the forward section of the ship but we were directed aft. This worked great for us. We walked aft and boarded an elevator with no waiting. Boarding early like we did we headed to deck 15 where the pools, waterpark and buffet were. Rooms were available by 1400. Deck 15 as previously mention is the center for most daytime activity. It has the pools, the waterslides, the mini-golf course, the hot tubs, the adults only area, and the buffet. During the day this is the hub of the ship. In the evenings you find various venues on deck 5, 6 and 7. Deck 5 has the atrium (short evening activities about an hour long, Lester is so entertaining), the excursions desk, guest services, the library, a couple of shops, a couple of restaurants and a couple of entertainment venues. Deck 6 is mostly casino. Deck 7 has the rest of the entertainment venues, the bulk of the shops, more specialty restaurants and the art gallery. The adults only area was essentially a bar, with a big screen and a “pool” which seemed to be a 12x12 square pool that was as warm as the hot tubs. We preferred the main pool area to the adults only area. We tried dining in the main dining room (Taste) and the Irish pub (O’Sheehan’s; did they misspell Oceans? Read Less
