This was my first cruise and my partner's fourth cruise, but first on Norwegian. I had expectations of a crowded buffet with flavor similar to that of Golden Coral. I was pleasantly surprised to find the food at the buffet (Garden Cafe) as well as their main dining rooms (Taste and Manhattan Room) were excellent. Each day their food choices were new, everything was fresh and had great flavor. The entertainment on board was excellent. The cruise director was awesome and fostered an environment of fun and relaxation. The room was clean, well laid out and well decorated. The fitness center had so much equipment and the view was amazing! The shows on board were excellent, they offered a circus, a musical, a comedy magic show, a ballroom dance performance, dueling pianos and many many more live options. The itinerary included, Naples, Rome, Pisa, Cannes and Palma Majorca and Barcelona as well as one sea day. Honestly, the sea day was one of my favorite days because we had so much fun on board the ship. The only areas were I would offer some ideas to improve are: 1) a bigger pool. The Epic has three water slides which were really fun, but the pools on board a smaller. 2) I wish there had been clearer instructions on how far the ports were from the train stations and transportation if guests were not participating in excursions. I give Norwegian's staff 5/5 stars, the food 5/5, and the entertainment 5/5. Really excellent trip. Read Less

This is our 4th cruise with Norwegian to various vacations. There is always a complete focus on customer service. All areas of the ship are impeccably clean. The buffet offers, by far, the best selection of high quality food. There is always a fundamental focus on hygiene. We had a balcony cabin and always thoroughly enjoy the views. The steward is extremely attentive to your every need. We cruised from Barcelona to Italy and Spain. What an incredible trip. The shore excursions are always diverse. We cant wait to sail again with Norwegian. The ship offers so many entertainment options. From swimming, to game shows, bowling, a well planned casino. The ship is very well planned out and the signage is very easy to understand and navigate. Every single members of the ship’s crew is always looking out for you and what you need. Our family members from London were going on this cruise and asked us if we wanted to join them from US. It was the best decision we made. This was our first cruise and we had an excellent time! The ship was very spacious. And the cabins were very comfortable! Their service was Fantastic! The staff at every level were courteous and always very helpful. I didn't like the way they offered alcohol packages! Too expensive and it requires your traveling companion also purchase the package even thou she doesn't drink! The WIFI is also ridiculously expansive. However I highly recommend the Norwegian cruise liner. We did not purchase any of their excursion. We rented a taxi from the ports. The food was excellent onboard. Very accommodating for vegetarians! The buffet had different themes every night! Really had a great time at the casino every night! And late night snakes and drinks! What a wonderful cruise! from the health club to the spa to the dining room and everything in between. Tons of entertainment throughout the ship, the lines were minimal including the ice cream bar! At 154,000 tons, this ship is so big that you barely feel the waves and the ship builders really went all out on the elevators, water slides, pools and theatres. Our waters and housekeeper were excellent! The excursions did seem to be overpriced so we did a bunch of shore activities on our own and found this to be more entertaining and certainly more economical. We were fortunate to board in Rome since the ship also embarks in Barcelona and this is a much bigger crowd...2/3rds of the passengers get on in Barcelona vs 1/3 get on in Italy. The Port we enjoyed the most was Florence Italy followed by Canes France. We would take this cruise again in a heartbeat. Thanks NCL! Read Less

We choose this cruise because our adult daughter was traveling with us. She was able to have a studio room as she was traveling solo. This was her first time to this area and she loved it. The beds were comfortable and we had a mini suite which had plenty of storage. The food was good. We tried the Asian restaurant and the Irish pub and found the food in both places very good. This was our first time on a large ship and I was not used to having to make reservations to see the shows. We were able to get in on standby status for both of the shows. This was our first time with Norwegian and found their off broading much easier than I have experienced on other cruises. We opted to take our suitcases off ourselves as we had a later flight. We would be interested in doing another Norwegian cruise in the future. Read Less

This was our 12th or 13th cruise, all on NCL! We wanted to cruise the Mediterranean, but didn't realize we would be on the MEGASHIP! All of our other cruises have been on the Jewell class and Spirit class ships. All of our trepidation about the megaship were dissolved when we got on board in about 20 minutes at the pier in Barcelona. Excursion disembarkation was very smooth and efficient. The pool area was crowded, but it was not a problem. There was so much to do we hardly saw other passengers. The excursions were fantastic! I highly recommend the Mediterranean cruise and look forward to being on the EPIC again. The crew was great, and the food was fantastic, but that is the NCL standard. Even with all the passengers on board, the Garden Cafe was not crowded and we were able to get our daily omelettes quickly! The specialty restaurants were all great, as usual. We never used the elevators, so I have no idea how long people waited. Read Less

This review will cover the beginning to the end and in between our journey: We started in Barcelona Spain. If you are flying in I recommend a day early. It lets you time correct and a chance to see some of Barcelona. Our checked luggage was lost by American out of Philadelphia. Half the flights luggage was lost. We thought we would never see it again but because we had an extra day it was at our door on the ship. Stay near the metro off of La Rambla and you can take the metro if traveling light (2-3 luggage and shoulder bags). Get off at the Drassanes stop. You then will walk a short distance to get on a cruise bus that cost 3 euros each. Walking to the cruise ship is not advised. You will understand when you travel via taxi or bus. Once you arrive in the ship port you can easily drop luggage off and get through the lines easily. Once on the ship you can eat and drink till your room is available. Rooms: An inside room is functional. If you plan on only sleeping, showering and resting in the room then this option is great. The balcony rooms have a varied size balcony and a few more square feet. FOOD: Keep in mind you will be off the ship at ports on excursions or roaming on your own. You will only eat breakfast and dinner typically. You will want to try some of the local fare. If you want to buy the optional restaurant packages that is fine but not necessary. Each to their own. We did the Teppanyaki Restaurant. It was good but if you have been to Benihanas you have had that experience. The Chinese Noodle Bar has a decent menu and was good. This is complimentary. Its worth a dinner. Taste Restaurant (Main Dining Room) Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner: Each day they have a exact menu and a menu that changes daily. So you can try something new or get your typical. We had success here one night. Some of the people we met had an experience of no service. I don’t think this is normal. The Manhattan Room Restaurant (Main Dining Room) Dinner Dined here multiple times. We enjoyed the changing menu along with the standard. Very similar to the Taste. We had one evening where it was slow but it was great. Garden Café The Buffet on the 15th floor. Wide variety of Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. If you can’t find something here then you will be a tough person to please. They change the food consistently but it has something for everyone. O’Sheehans Bar and Grill; I am not a wing fan but these are the best ever. A variety of food on the menu. Well worth the late night eat as well. Spice H20 Area with pool(small) and big screen. Food is a buffet line and typically burgers, hot dogs and wings. Bar is full. Other restaurants are available but we did not eat at them. EXCURSIONS: If you want to see a ton at each location then you better stay on land and pop from city to city. You have a decent amount time getting from the ship to locations. Also when your excursion tickets says a meeting time and location don’t show up exactly at the time or late. You hold up other people who paid the exact amount and want it to go smoothly. Also be back to your busses at the time they tell you….They will leave you. Do your homework. Let me Repeat do your homework. Know what you want to accomplish. You can walk miles or be casual depending on what you want to accomplish. Naples: We did the Pompeii with tour guide. They don’t tell you this but once you depart on your journey you will stop by a local jewel place. 35 minutes of time there. You then journey off to the excursion you wanted in the first place. The guides are well informed and detailed. You will NOT see all of Pompeii. Not enough time but worth it. Rome: After and hour plus drive on a bus to Rome we did the Hop on Hop off tour. The bus goes one direction only but at each stop they come by every 20-30 minutes. Look up the Red hop on hop off path. We got on the bus and took one ride to the next stop and walked it the rest of the way. We walked 11 miles that day. Pick the main thing you want to accomplish and do it first. We did the Coliseum first. Upon arriving you will see endless lines. We were approached by a women selling front of the line passes for 30 euros each for the guided Colosseum & Ancient Rome Tour with Forum & Palatine Hill. We did it versus waiting in line for 1-2 hours at a cost of 12 euros a piece and only the Colosseum in the price. It was worth every euro. It took about 2 ½ hours. We then headed to Trevi Fountain. It is crowded with tourists but beautiful We then walked toward Vatican City. We arrived just able to see the outside and surrounding area. The day we were there the pope was there doing a service preventing the Sistine Chapel and others from access till noon. Many people were offering front of the line passes. We didn’t have enough time to do that. The City is beautiful and not enough time to see everything in the time allowed. Florence and Pisa We did the Explore on your own tour. The bus guide gave us endless information to use as we explored on our own. Pisa is quick. 45 Minutes Quick. There isn’t a ton to see but it is worth seeing. Beware of the pick pockets They are young women with umbrellas and tennis shoes. Our guide pointed them out. You then head out to Florence. Cannes We didn’t have an excursion on this location. We tendered out to shore. Many boats back and forth to shore. If you want to put on the bathing suit and take a boat onshore there is a great little beach 2 football fields away. Aqua blue water. Be careful on those on shore. They may have an agenda for anything left on the beach. We walked to the castle. It is up hill and a little energy will be used getting there. There are a lot of shops to go through and dining places. You will see some amazing Yachts… We went to the boat early afternoon and chilled by the pool and bar. Mallorca We took a bus to Soller and then the train back to Parma. Soller is small and unique. You will be there for a short period to roam the town. You then hop on the oldest train in Europe. Unique trip. I liked it but it seemed high for what you get. You then can wonder the Parma are for abt an hour. You then get on the Ship to head back to Barcelona. They have entertainment. Howl at the Moon, the Cavern, shows and more. Each to their own. We liked The Cavern, Howl at the Moon and we saw one show that was done well. The Casino area is rather impressive. Many people each night having fun winning and losing money. We did the free alcohol as our free option. Worth every free penny lol. They had a wide selection of beers and endless selection of mixed drinks and alcohol. Beers: Coors Light, Lagunitas IPA, Stella, Dos XX, Estelle, Blue Moon, etc. Tip your Waiter or Waitress ( they deserve it) and they will take care of you. Luigi and Mervin in the pool bar were awesome on or cruise. The Ship is amazing. It has something for everyone and if you get the room that you need that fits your style then you will have a goodtime if you want to have a good time. Anyone that has given a bad review either had one event that ruined for them even though the ship is an awesome ship and the people working do an amazing job making your stay with them awesome. Getting off the Boat. You will be given options to get off in your room. We took a taxi to our hotel. It was a breeze. Taxis cost abt 25 euro from ship to airport. They have transport supplied by ship if you want the better option. Read Less

First time cruisers on recommendation from friends. Airport to embarkation port was easy and welcome on board was friendly. Luggage taken off our hands and delivered to cabin. Time to discover ship and eat before settling into life at sea. Cabin was spotless and well put together with sea balcony. Toilet and shower with opaque doors and privacy curtain, huge bed, sofa, vanity unit and plenty of storage space. During the week,we made full use of dining, drinking and entertainment facilities. Some at extra cost for big show or special meal but everything was quality. We were on an all inclusive package which included drinks and gratuities(if not on this type of package drinks are very expensive and gratuities can be booked separately ay about $15 per person/day) Only downside was that shore excursions were very expensive. If we had taken a trip at each port it could have cost around another $1500 in total !!! Ideally some form of cheaper shuttle type transport to the major excursion sites would benefit a lot of people. We were however happy to relax on board and use the superb facilities. As a tester cruise this was a fantastic experience. Still haven't got over the size of the vessel and the comfort of the sailing, even when the wind got up.I suppose it is quite difficult to shift 160,000 tonnes of tour liner !!!! Read Less

We choose this cruise because both of us really wanted to experience parts of Europe and this seemed like the best way to do this. We stayed in one of the Haven suites and I have to say we will never go back. The embarkation process was so smoooth. There was a minimum of 1500 people in line to check in. We were whisked away from that line and brought to another line. We filled out 3 short questions, checked in and were on the ship within 20 minutes. We met our concierge before boarding and given a private tour of the Haven private areas. We sat and ate lunch, thinking that we would still be waiting in line if we did not have the Haven. The disembarkation process was the same as well, we took our bags to he concierge desk and taken down a private elevator and were off the boat within 20 minutes. The crew and the boat was fantastic, clean and nice. I highly recommend the Epic and the cruise in general. Everywhere we ate the food was fantastic, especially at teppanyaki our cook was really engaging and funny. We saw 4 shows, cirque, comedy magician, Beatles and rock n roll and all 4 were great and very entertaining. Read Less

We were a group of 65 ranging in ages form 10 months to mid 70's. Most of us from New York, a few from Pittsburgh. Had some first time cruisers with us, this was my 30th! Most of us flew in on British Airways from JFK (but it was really American Airlines) non-stop and got a rate of $501. We spent two nights pre-cruise at the Hotel Continental Barcelona. We had several families of 3 and 4 and needed a hotel that could accommodate. Used Europe Connect for all of our transfers within Barcelona. Due to the anniversary of the terrorist attack and the protests going on, we were dumped off about 5 bocks form the hotel and had to walk with all out luggage. Driver had no choice, police had streets closed. One tiny elevator that held about 4 people and 2 pieces of luggage at a time was not great for over 50 people checking in at one time. LOL. Hotel rooms were spacious (even for my family of 4) and showers were awesome. The 24 hour snack buffet, and included beer, wine, soda and juice was a great perk. Lovely little courtyard and the balconies were great. Ours overlooking La Rambla. You need to be buzzed in on your floor and turn in your key to the desk when you go out. There are other hotels and a hostel within the building. Amazing location on La Rambla!!! Right in the middle of everything. Spent two nights. We arranged a full day private tour through Spain Private Tour Guides on 08/18. Went to Park Guell, La SaGrada Familia, took a panoramic bus tour and then ended with a walking tour. It was amazing and our tour guide Fernando was awesome! 08/19 Off to the EPIC, embarkation a breeze. Have sailed the EPIC before, the rooms are kind of quirky. Not a fan of the curved walls or the bathroom set-up but certainly not a deal breaker. Storage was an issue, but there were 4 of us in the room and we packed for 11 days away. Day 1: Boarded the ship by about 11:30, rooms were not ready until about 1:40. Had lunch at the buffet and enjoyed the sun and the pool. Dinner at Taste was great. Day 2: Sea Day. Went to the Cruise Critic Meet and enjoyed the sun. Last relaxing day, as we had each and every moment planned for each port. Dinner at Moderno was lovely! Day 3: Rome. We had a packed day planned. Private tour with skip the line access to The Colosseum, and the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps. Brief stop for pizza and gelato in between. Dinner was at Shanghai. we really enjoyed it!! Day 4: Pompei, Vesuvio, Herculaneum. Another jammed packed day! First stop on our private tour was Pompei. It was brutally hot but amazing. A welcome break was had next at the Cantina del Vesuvio, a lovely wine farm on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius. We had a tour of the winery, sampled grapes, and had an amazing lunch and wine tasting. The staff was friendly and informative! So glad we planned this. Then it was off to Herculaneum for more exploring. It was scorching and the rain showers were welcomed! This was the day of my son's 11th birthday, and 50 of us dined at Teppanyaki to celebrate. Service was fantastic as was the food! Day 5: Naples: Florence/Pisa. Once again we had a private tour and walked our feet off exploring Florence including the Duomo, Piazza delle Signoria, Medici chapesl, Ponte Vecchio, Baptistry & Bell Tower and the Academia to see Michaelangelo's David. Very brief stop for something to eat and then off to Pisa to Piazza dei Miracoli, to see the Leaning Tower, Pisa Cathedral and Baptistry. Dinner was at Cagney's and was fantastic as usual. Day 6: Cannes-Monte Carlo & Monaco. Had a little issue with our private guide here. We were split into two groups as there were 63 of us. The smaller group got to see Monte Carlo, Monaco, the Medieval Village of Eze and a flower market. The larger group only got to see Monaca and Montel Carlo, both beautiful, but disappointing that we did not see all we had planned to. Dinner was at LeBistro and we thoroughly enjoyed it! Day 7: Palma Majorca: Private tour of the Caves of Drach followed by a stop at Porto Cristo fishing village and beach with time for swimming, shopping, a bite to eat. An amazing day! We had dinner at O'Sheehan's. The food was good but everything came at once, appetizers and entrees. Day 8: Debarkation. The elevators were impossible, even at the late 9 AM time. We walked down from 14. Picked up by our bus and dropped at our post cruise hotel for one night. Post Cruise: One night at the Catalonia Diagonal Centro Hotel. Beautiful hotel with huge rooms and a tiny pool on the second floor. 08/27/18 Time to go home. As we had a 10 AM flight and needed to leave the hotel at 7, we would miss breakfast. The concierge asked how many children were in our group and packed a lovely picnic box for each of them so that they would not be hungry and have to wait to eat at the airport, a wonderful touch! Our transfer bus dropped us off at the right terminal, but the farthest distance from our airline. LOL There is a lot of walking within the airport and we were glad we chose the early pick up time! Kids: My boys are 11 and 13. This trip they did not go to the club at all. Their friends that did, enjoyed their time there. The younger one spent a lot of time at the basketball court. They enjoyed the water slides, ping pong, etc. Entertainment: We were booked for Priscilla Queen of the Damned for Friday night but that show was cancelled. We were rescheduled for Thursday night but it interfered with dinner so we did not get to go. We were so exhausted after all of our excursions, we did not get to any other shows. Our friends loved Burn the Floor and Dueling Pianos. Spent some time at the Martini Bar and enjoyed it. We had experienced Cirque and the Ice Bar on several other occasions so we did not indulge this trip but those that did had a ball. Service: Our cabin attendant Chris was great as was all of the staff we encountered. Excellent service throughout the ship. Summary: My gang of 65 had a great cruise on the Epic. The design is not my favorite of the NCL ships but if the itinerary and price were right, would sail her a third time. The itinerary is awesome, and food and service on the ship was great. I am not great at uploading pictures so I apologize for the lack of in this review. Will be happy to answer any questions if I can! See you again soon NCL! Read Less

We were a huge bunch on the ship, and loved it! Freestyle cruising, the choice of ports, the variety of food & drinks on offer, the breadth of activities, wonderful views all around - everybody had good feedback to share at the end of the trip. The ship literally became our home for the week, away from land / normal routines, living in a cocoon of our own. People were singing, dancing, eating, drinking, swimming, watching shows, enjoying the views of the sea, exploring various towns and simply relaxing! The Italian towns (Rome, Pisa, Florence, Pompeii, Naples) have their own charm while Cannes in France takes you to a different plane altogether. Palma de Majorca was a pleasant surprise. The cabins were comfortable and the service on the ship was impeccable. Pleasant staff members (especially the lady at the entrance of the 15h floor cafeteria who welcomed you with a sing-song style) added to the overall experience. Read Less

The ship was reccommended by our travel agent, embarkation in Barcelona was a bit chaotic, ressembling a cattle market quayside rather than a high end cruise experience, however, once on board, everything went swimmingly. Our cabin was an Inside Cabin [12050], very large double bed, very little floor space and really quite miniscule, don't expect a lot of room, there isn't any but for sleeping and washing purposes it's adequate. We were on a Beverage package which included gratuities and this worked well. We like to please ourselves with food and the Graden Restaurant and The Great Outdoors suited us, food quality was excellent. We ate in the Irish Bar one night, this was less of a good experience, Fish & Chips in a basket was more like 2 fish fingers and a few chips and Cottage Pie was more like a very small Corned Beef Hash. The entertainment was great, Priscilla is a must and The Beatles were brilliant. The bands that played poolside varied from terrific to average but all provided an ambient atmosphere. We took the cruise because it visited Naples for Pompeii and Citavechia for Rome, we took the Pompeii tour but felt that the guide only scratched the surface of Pompeii and we felt that so much more could have been shown. Rome and the Colisseum was a slog, the Colisseum was awesome, as was the visit to The Forum and The Palatine Hill but this was followed by a very long trek to the Trevvi Fountain which was so busy you needed to be a discus thrower to throw your coin in the fountain, then another long trek back to the bus and on to The Vatican. Expect to be blighted by beggars and street sellers in Rome, they are everywhere. The Excursions were incredibly expensive, For 2 people to Pompeii & the tour in Rome cost £729 using NCL's onboard excursions. If I were to re-visit, I think I would investigate prebooking online. The Ship's crew are phenomenal, special mentions to Lemuel our cabin Steward and Luigi, Ferdinand & Miler, servers and entertainers par excellence at the poolside bar Waves Overall, the cruise scores 9/10 for ship and shipboard activities, 5/10 for excursions Read Less

I boarded the Norwegian Epic at Barcelona on August 5th, 2018. The ship was suggested to my father by a family friend. Upon further research and an appointment with a travel agent, we had our cruise booked. I'm quite an introverted, 18 year old girl. I suffer from anxiety so I was worried that being on such a big ship with over 4000 passengers would only make me panic, but the friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere always put me at ease. I got on the Norwegian Epic with my father, mother and 16 year old brother. On previous family holidays, my brother and I would be very bored because all my parents wanted to do was sunbathe. Whereas, my brother and I don't like the sun or hot weather very much. We would much rather prefer activity-filled holidays with more than just a pool for entertainment. This is why the cruise was the perfect holiday choice for our family. The ship offers a variety of different activities for all ages at different times during the day The best way to discover what is happening is to check the "Epic Today" channel on the television or read the itinerary your steward will leave in your stateroom every day. This will give you a list of activities on board, the times at which the activities occur, where the activity is taking place and what time certain parts of the ship are open to. The Splash Academy offers 4 different age groups to accommodate for families with children 6 months old all the way up to 12 years old. It is a educational youth group with offers different activities for the appropriate age group. For family with young children, there is a nursery for children under 3 years old called Guppies. This is perfect for parents who need a small break during their vacation. Trained staff will arrange drop off and pick up times for your child. There is also a late night service so that you can dance the night away before collected your little darling and going to bed. If you have a troublesome teen who you want in bed at a reasonable time, but don't want to look after all night, there is a teens club for ages 13 - 17 called Entourage which is located on the 16th floor. In order to sign up for this, all you have to do is go to a member of staff at the door of the club and fill in a general information form for your child. The staff are all trained professionals and will care for your teen appropriately, whilst offering them a safe space to socialise with other young people their age and providing a range of fun activities which can be checked on the timetable outside the door on in the itinerary. The club is open until 11pm for general entry but by paying an extra fee, your child will be looked after until 12:45am, allowing them to make their way back to their stateroom by 1am, which is the deadline for children to be in their staterooms at night. For people my age, there was 18-21 year old meeting every night around 8pm or 9pm in Bliss Lounge on deck 7. This was great for me because I struggle to initiate conversation with strangers so sitting with a group of people who were all in the same position as me made me feel so much better. Bliss Lounge also offered occasional late night dance parties for people 18+. This also helped me find people around my age and was great entertainment. Obviously the legal drinking age for America is 21 years old. However, if you have parental consent, you will be allowed to drink as long as you are 18+. Everyone under 18 has a small cut in the corner of their card to restrict them from purchasing alcohol and there are cameras all over the ship to ensure no one is providing alcohol to minors. I was on the all inclusive food and drink package so I could get my drinks for free. I quite enjoyed making my way down the several cocktail menus at the bars around the ship. My personal favourites were Long Island Iced Tea, BBC, Bushwhacker, Mudslide, Mango Meltdown and Bahama Mama. (I preferred the sweeter/fruitier ones rather than the bitter ones) I stayed in stateroom number 9222 on deck 9 during our Western Med cruise. We had an amazing steward called Arnold who always said hello in the corridors and kept the room immaculately clean. If you have young children, or are a big kid yourself (like me), you'll probably enjoy the little towel animals which are left on the beds every night. We had an elephant, a frog, a rabbit, a dog, a penguin and more! Before the cruise, I read a review from a cruiser who mentioned that your steward will remember you by name. I thought that was pretty crazy but it was so true! Arnold always addressed me by my name whenever he saw me in the hallway, and was so polite. His contract is 9 consecutive months on the ship, and he has a wife and 10 year old son back at home in the Philippines. It is amazing how dedicated the staff are to their jobs as they are willing to leave their family for many months just to earn money to send back home. We made sure to leave him a big tip for working so hard. The stateroom we stayed in was on the starboard side of the ship. It was a mid-ship balcony room. The balcony was a good size and always provided a lovely view of the Mediterranean Sea. The room also has loads of storage space, it also has a safe for keeping valuable items in such as passports, documents etc. The room also a phone and a television. The television not only allows you to watch tv but also allows you to book shows/restaurants, contact your steward, organise shore excursions and much more. The phone was also useful. If you needed to contact another room you simply just called the room number they were staying in. We used this a lot for phoning the stateroom my father and brother were staying in which was on the port side of the ship. The dining rooms on the ship were quite nice. We tried The Manhattan Room, Taste and O'Sheehan's. The Manhattan Room and Taste both has very similar menus, whereas O'Sheehan's offered more pub grub style food which is what my family enjoy more than fine dining. I also tried Shanghai's one night with my mother. I had some delicious spring rolls and kung pao chicken. If you like oriental food, I definitely recommend it. Service within the ship was always excellent. Sometimes you will have to wait at the bar for a while, depending on the time of the day and which bar you go to. Waves Bar and Spice H2O tend to be quite busy as they are on deck 15 where most people spend the day. All of the waiters and waitresses are very friendly and speedy with their service. The route the cruise takes means that the first day you get on at Barcelona is a sailing day. If you're looking to sunbathe, you may get to deck 15/16 quick because the loungers get taken up very fast. However, the 2nd day is a port day so you will notice more loungers are available as people will be going on shore excursions. The shore excursions are all very well organised. You can book tickets at the service desk on the 5th deck beside the Atrium. Here you will receive your tickets and information on meeting times and location. If you are going on a guided tour, you will be provided with a sticker which has a number on it corresponding to your bus number. It is very simple and well planned. Make sure you always bring your Norwegian Epic pass anytime you go off ship and some form of ID. If you do go on any of the excursions or decide to get off at a port to look around by yourself, I guarantee you will provided with some beautiful scenery, architecture and views. Rome and Monaco are two beautiful cities I had the pleasure to visit but it is entirely up to you what excursions you choose to go on. All of them are 100% worth the money and are very well organised. As a first time cruiser I have to say this has been a pretty unforgettable holiday. The Norwegian Epic truly does live up to its name and I hope anyone who decides to take the West Med cruise has as much fun as I did. I really hope I get to cruise on the Epic again in the future or another NCL ship! Thank you NCL for this amazing experience. Read Less

We chose the Haven Club for a family vacation and honestly the food, accommodation, service, wine, bars everything really exceeded our expectations. HOWEVER we did not really use any other restaurants on the ship as had 2 very bad meals on their supposedly TOP dining places including the Bistro and Tepanyaki.... If you are staying at the Haven the choice of food and quality is so good that all else disappoints. A pity really as it is nice to try out difference places Would definitely return to the Haven not sure about speciality dining though!. PLUS POINTS TO HAVEN Fast checkin Fast disembarkation on every port reserved seating for the Theatre shows Amazing food and service The downside to this ship are the following Speciality dining not great Shows are good without being expeptional General entertainment lacking as repetitive and not enough good music in the bars The Haven bar lacked atmosphere and never had any music Read Less

Very friendly staff and felt welcomed as soon as we entered the port. Entertainment first class Ate mainly at the buffet and wide variety of food choices. Had a separate Indian Jain food Counter which was a bonus. Very hot in Barcelona, Florence and Majorca ,preferred to stay on board. Had fully inclusive drinks package which was great. So many choices of cocktails. With limited internet time there was no way to communicate with the family on ship. Any solutions? Lots of live entertainment on every floor. Shows were excellent including Burn the floor and Priscilla queen of Desert. Cirque was a paid show so did not see it. Rooms were cleaned twice daily and room service was excellent. Watching sunset and Sunrise from the ship was a spiritual experience. Will do the cruising again definitely. A big thanks to the staff at the Norwegian Epic. Experience was well above expectations and great value for money. Read Less

We booked this cruise after cancelling another NCL cruise going to Havana, Cuba (during last year's hurricane). My wife and I have always wanted to go to Italy, so we booked this one leaving from Rome and then came in a few days early to tour Venice and Rome. We had an amazing time in what felt like a mini-vacation before we even ended up on the ship! The folks at ItalyScape really set us up with some fantastic tours and guides. We did a "Breakfast at the Vatican" tour before the general public was allowed in, and I definitely recommend getting there early if you really want to appreciate the artwork before the crowds show up. In retrospect, booking a cruise in July in Italy meant it was going to be hot, and it was. But going early helped. We boarded the boat on Wednesday, and I must admit it was a little strange that most of the people on this particular cruise had boarded in Barcelona, so they were halfway into their cruise already. Didn't create any issues, just interesting. Boarding was simple, and we were in our room in no time. The cabin was great...we had picked a spa suite and we were literally two doors down from the spa, which was so convenient as we spent a lot of time there. Although the Epic is enormous, and there were times when the crush of people was annoying, we pretty much stayed to ourselves, ate when we wanted to, and stayed away from the pool on deck 15 where all the families and there kids were. We got into a routine of having a cocktail at the martini bar and then hitting one of the restaurants. We really enjoyed the food, especially the Brazilian steakhouse. And all the servers and wait staff were exceptional. The do nickel-and-dime you a lot for things, such as in-room movies and shuttles at the ports). We did our own trips at the ports, and were glad not to be in the cattle call every morning. We would roll up to the port, and our guides/drivers were waiting for us for a personal tour of whatever port we visited. Overall it was a great vacation and would do it again! Definitely recommend booking the Cirque show...it was awesome. We didn't really see any other shows...just nothing our speed! Read Less

This was our first cruise, and we have chosen NCL, Epic for Spain, Italy cruise, simple, just one week. Fortunately, we booked a Haven, family suite and never regretted. Everything was just fantastic! Suite itself, butler and concierge cervices, organising excursions, service on the ship in general. Especially cruise director, absolutely amazing and surprisingly omnipresent, always wonder how did he manage to be all the time everywhere! They inspired us to take another cruise next year. And now we are planning the new one with MCS. Just compare. The Haven itself is something one must try, Its a ship inside the ship, with all facilities included, even the gym, not talking about swimming pool and hot tube. One feels really relaxed and special over there. Dining there is just exclusive. Well, one should say in common areas restaurants are not bad as well. Entertainment was superb, especially circus. Now, looking backwards and having experience with MSC entertainment, I would say it is better to pay for entertainment like in NCL, then waste time in the theatre with numbers of languages, even thought one doesn't pay for it. Everything about this cruise was fantastic from booking to the finish. We had excellent service in every respect, even offered an upgrade to mini-suite for a small fee. The embarkation went the smoothest of any cruise we have ever been on and the debarkcation wasn’t just as smooth. The restaurants were super and the shows were broadway quality. Ports of call were totally amazing with the only drawback being that the ports was a little far away in two places. If you are interested in history then this cruise can satisfy all of your wondering about such places as Pompeii, Rome and Pisa. These were bucket list places for us and we are so glad that this cruise could reach so many in one week. All this not to mention the resort areas of Cannes and Palma De Mallorca! What a treat to be able to experience to much in such a short span of time. Recommend this cruise and company to anyone! It will be hard to cruise wot(any other cruiseline now. Read Less

We choose this cruise line because our family tries to go on a new cruise every year. This is my 3rd cruise and my families 4th. When we got to the terminal in Barcelona the Norwegian staff was right there to help with bags and made security a breeze. Especially for someone that has PTSD and can't handle lines or things not going smooth. The security staff helped us through the process and then one of the ships staff members was on the other side walking us to a check-in representative. As we got to check-in we walked right up to the counter, got our ID cards and then was taken to the ship. As we entered the photo staff was there to take our pictures. I was surprised on how helpful they were especially since we were a group of 8. On board the ship everything was extremely clean, staff was there to welcome us onboard and bar staff was offering drinks. After we got a drink we went up to the room where our bags were already waiting for us. On other ships we have waited up to 6 hours for our luggage. Our room was a good size, spot less and completely met our expectations. We couldn't have asked for a better steward. The towel animals he made were out of this world. On our first night we had went to shower and noticed that our shower head was broke. The next morning we let him know and it was fixed within an hour. Each night on the cruise ship we tried a different dinning hall. Each of the dining halls had amazing food. Nothing beats the steak house on this ship though. The chef at the steak house definitely knew what he was doing. Highly recommended. As for dessert, the best dessert you'll get on the ship is in the steak house. On a side note don't get the green tea cake at the hibachi. It tastes like card board and spinach. Overall I would say the trip was amazing. We booked the cruise through Costco and get an awesome deal. I highly recommend the excursions. If you want to save some money book them through Shore Excursions Group LLC. We did way more than what the cruise offered if we had booked with them and saved money. Firdoze from the photo crew by far stood out from any other staff members on the cruise. She knew us by name, was very patient with the special needs party in our group, always livened up the area and when it was time to purchase our pictures she was right there to help explain the process. At one point I got beyond confused with the pricing and was getting frustrated because the computer and the sign said two different prices. Firdoze came and helped us print our pictures we wanted. Helped us determine which package was best for us and even saved us over $200. Major kudos to her for all of her hard work helping us. Read Less

We chose this ship mainly for the ports but also wanted to try a larger ship. It was our 25th anniversary trip and we wanted to visit all the ports while having to only unpack once. The Epic gives you so many options for dining, drinks and entertainment while on board. We loved the freestyle sytem but made reservations ahead of time for both main dining restaurants- which were amazing both for service and food. So many places to relax and order cocktails, listen to Beatles music or dueling piano or shows - I don't get people who don't enjoy themselves on this ship- if not happy with one thing try another! We enjoyed the excursions thru NCL. Lots of history with really great tour guides! A bit rushed but had to expect that. The room with balcony was great! Some reviews we had read really made the room sound cramped and horrible. It's fine, if spending a lot of time in your room then you are missing out on all the great amenities this ship has to offer. Last thing - ALL the crew members we interacted with were friendly and happy. I'm not sure how they kept this up all week but they did! Read Less

We booked this ship for the itinairy and because of the reviews. It’s our 7th cruise. We cruised Royal Carribean ( Allure, Oasis, Quantum, Jewel) Norvegian Getaway, and Canival. We are a big family with 4 kids ( 13 to 19) we love this ship. Stateroom are very well organise, lots of storage it’s impressive. The variety and quality of food is remarkable at the buffet best we had. In the main dining room we had great and fast services but we usually arrive around 6:45 pm if you plan to eat after 19:00 it get more busy and services take more time. We love the shows very good and divertising, the magician is so good, we saw free shows every night and enjoy ourself. My 17 years old son loved the teenclub we did not see him the hole week. We try every activities on the ship. We can not say a bad thing if you planned in advance what you want to do and arrive when it begins you never have to wait long line except for the waterslide with tube because the have to size of tube and not much of them but this is very fun. This ship made a priority on clean hand to avoid getting sick and we appreciate that no need to bring extra Purel at the table because the have extra disinfectant in the buffet. Any time you reenter the ship “washy washy lady are there”. Every people working on this ship is very nice, helping and smily. There is a very good “vibe” on this ship good music all time on the pool deck not to loud and we never feel it was crowded on this ship. Lots of chairs on the decks. You can always find a place to sit compare to Getaway. Best gym ever, good machine weighs ...it get busy cause it so good. Everything seem to be planed to facilitate our live there. Easiest way to get a tender is to go at the guest services not on the TV or cruise app. No confu sion or long wait in line to get off of the boat . It was a breeze each time no stress compare to all our other cruises. We did all port of cruise on our own. We walked to Palma (45 minutes) but saw nice bikes to rent just out of the ship that could have been a good idea because there a bicycle path next to the sidewalk from the boat to the city or you have the bus just there also, in Canne we went to the public beach ( 30 minutes walk 16 euro for two chairs and umbrella) Rome, Sorrento and Naples we hired driver from Private tour in Italy with Domenicco very good company. In conclusion we love, love , love this ship. Don’t hesitate. Read Less

Had a wonderful time celebrating my 60th birthday with wonderful crew who made us feel home & special everyday. The food was excellent & the ship has a lot of dining options. I was just disappointed by the check-in crew. They were in a hurry & did not even explain to us that we have UBP. If not for one of our pool waitress Rizalyn who told us when we ordered from her we would not know that we have UBP The shore excursions was a bit pricey for the value offered. We were also not given enough free time on our own especially we were with people that was on level 1 choice, people with mobility issue . The tour escort left us behind & we had to take a cab to go back to the ship. The item we left on the tour bus was also not returned back to us. Our first time on a cruise and chose the Epic. We had a great time for 7 days which are unforgettable. The ship represented all ages and all nations. The ship is one of the largest. Cabins are beautiful and clean. The dining options are nemerious and food is tasty. Plenty of bars and all types of alcohol Available. Plenty to do for ages. The embarkation and disembarkation are done so smoothly, effiecently And with professionalism. Watched the semi finals between England and Croatia and the staff put on food and drinks to feed until your were to your brim. The staff are the asset to the ship. Each and every member treats you as an individual and not as a number. Friendly, helpful always with a smile and serves you that you will never forget this trip. We stayed in mini suite with balcony. If you buy WIFI, it worked great. If I am to say one positive criticism is that the cabins are a bit dated and will do with a refurb. Love to go again soon. Read Less

First cruise - family of 4 - me 36 my husband 45 daughter 12 son 8 we stayed in Barcelona 3nights then docked there for a week. I should point out I hate the sea and boats so it’s took 7 years for my husband to convince me to try a cruise .. Kids were sold when they seen the aqua park and football pitch etc in brochure. On seeing the ship at the port - I’m not going to lie I was in shock - it is MASSIVE!!! Everyone says you’ll never know your on a boat - so I went for it!! Ok so you do know your on a boat ... if your lucky enough to have no choppy nights then it’s not bad.. we had 1 choppy night and I was terrified... it calmed down after 2 hours !! Once you get used to the slight movement you’ll be fine ( my 3 didn’t notice anything they were fine even in the choppy night ) just cause I have fears I felt everything more ... I would defo cruise again :) Something to consider before you arrive at the ship -pack a pool bag with suncream Swimming costumes etc as your luggage might not arrive for few hours at cabin. Towels available on pool Deck (no.15...) They do a ‘cruise leaving disco’ on this deck when ship disembarks m, it’s amazing lots of great songs dances etc to get the party started . The main garden cafe buffet restaurant is phenomenal if anyone says anything else their crazy - there is enough fir everyone - so so much choices... all day and night, this is a lot busier on sea days as everyone on board ... that goes for the pool area and aqua park ques etc - however there is plenty of staff to accommodate everyone being on board . We only had the one day at sea so wasn’t an issue for us. The docking days are great as if your staying on the ship you get a quieter day and hardly any ques on slides etc. The Taste restaurant is superb - great menu that changes slightly each day and lovely 3 course menu - no need to book you can just turn up. The Cagney steakhouse is all Angus beef and is a stunning restaurant and menu great wine menu too. Bare in mind this is a la carte so extra cost to eat here - we didn’t know this and got a bill for £114 (Check your daily news sheet that’s in your room every day for the restaurants that charge you .) The ice bar was a great experience for the kids - again extra £25 each - you get 2 drink each included - it’s the only ice bar at sea defo worth a visit . In the gaming room and kids aracde it’s all payment through your keycard - so either put a cap on your kids cards or an overall block or you’ll get a nasty bill at the end . The bar menu is outstanding all branded vodka gin whiskey etc including grey goose Hendricks Bombay saphire glenmorangie Bottled beers is mental corona modelo miller bud red stripe Stella also strong bow cider Smirnoff ice and cocktails galore . Try the mango ice daiquiri yummy!! The Beatles are fabulous defo worth watching !! The burn the floor show is great - fabulous dancing and all stunners .. The cabin we had was on deck 14 (no 14077) State cabin with balcony - defo needs the balcony for extra room but I’m sure you all know with it being a ship rooms are compact ... the top bunk bed gets pulled down for you each night with lovely towel shaped animals waiting for you .... If you want close to pool (deck 15 ) then book around this room number, as the exit door for lifts stairs and swim academy is all across from room number 14057 . Swim academy is the kids club it’s loveky big and packed of fun things to do . The best thing to get your kids to go to is the GLOW PARTY. Pack white clothes for this night even you adults as the after kids club party is on in the H20 outdoor bar for all the family where you get neon face painting - glow sticks - flashing light up battons and thee best dance tunes - everyone was up raving at this - really was a highlight to our cruise .... atrium on deck 5 has great family fun things to do - arts n crafts bingo game shows live music etc and the bar staff Marvin and IMade (I knicknamed him Maddy )are great fun we had a few laughs with them . We booked all inclusive with premium drinks packages and soda packages for us 4 - if you have to sign for something it means your paying extra so just watch out . Getting on and off ship fairly easy just need all key cards and passport for adults - on way back onto ship your bag goes through scanner like at airport - no liquids foods etc allowed on ship We never booked any excursions on board we made our own reservations once off boat and saved money .And casually done what we wanted when we wanted - kids didn’t want to leave the boat they loved the aqua park and pool so much . Pools are small and get really warm so you don’t really get cooled down much but that did g bother us . The climbing wall is amazing and staff very encouraging . The ship is soooo clean .... So all in all The Epic NCL is tremendous and us 4 will be back. Please go try it you won’t be disappointed Read Less
