This was our (my wife and myself's) third time on the Epic in as many years. The date and port were perfect and the Epic was available for sailing. There is only one gripe and an immense amount of compliments I could give the staff and ship. Let's get the gripe out of the way. During day one and two there was one, yes one, staff member roaming the lounge chair area taking drink orders in Spice H20. If you wanted a drink you had to get up and (gasp) get one yourself. By the third day, it seemed they had flexed staff around and had more servers and bartenders. I can only assume that they anticipated a heaver need in other areas, or that there were other tasks the staff was attending to. Having been on the Epic three times in two years, we found the shows to be lacking. If this was our first or second viewing we would have been thrilled, however, we have seen them before and there was nothing new. The casts changed but the shows were the same. The shows were fantastic and the entertainment surely didn't disappoint. Dining was spectacular. We had a meal in every restaurant except for the French one (Le Bistro?). We had a dining package and Platinum reward. Dining on NCL is the best on the seas and if my wife and I tried to eat like this on land, we would be broke! The quality and service is impeccable aboard the ship. We did not get to visit Great Stirrup Cay due to rough winds/seas. The decision was made to keep us at sea rather than heading to Miami. I loved the decision to keep us in the warm sun rather than rush home and towards a cold Miami. It can't be an easy decision to make on NCL's end, but given the circumstances, they made the correct call in my opinion. We will be back on another NCL ship soon, but we will be seeking a new ship within the fleet to experience since our last three cruises were abord the Epic. Read Less

NCL was having a special - (cabin prices dropping and extra perks) - so why not book? I was apprehensive about booking 10 - nights ... kept thinking to myself - I would get board and could not stand being on the ship a second longer! HOWEVER, to my surprise the 10-nights flew by and soon I had to get back to reality aka - work. EMBARKMENT: absolutely sucked! Apparently there was an undisclosed issue at the port that delayed arriving port passengers from to go through security and board the ship. Funny thing is - while standing in line over three hours outside of the pier just to pass through security - everyone was in good spirits. THE CABIN: I booked a Haven Spa Suite (early Christmas present for myself). My cabin, the service (Mohammed - butler and Johnitto - cabin steward) lived up the Haven name - BUT, as the only person in the cabin I even found it a bit tight for me. Nice comfy round mattress and spa tub in the room (AWESOME) - BUT, they just took up way too much space. If you wanted to relax in your cabin, you had to sit on the bed. For the money spent on a suite, a Haven Suite - there really should be a separate seating area. DINING: LaCuccina -- I had a 5:30 PM reservation - perfect time to get a table overlooking the front of the ship. OMG - what a breathtaking view! If I had known what an amazing view could have been had - I would have dined there ALL 10 nights. I also dined at Cagney's, Haven Restaurant and O'Sheehan's. I enjoyed the quality of the food and service provided by each venue, BUT - everything was overshadowed by the view from LaCuccina. If I ever sail the EPIC again, I definitely would definitely dine in whatever restaurant is occupying that space! ON BOARD ENTERTAINMENT: Can't comment - did not attend any shows or events. I am that obscure passenger who does not need a "broadway show, comedy or musical or dance" program to enjoy a cruise. SHORE EXCURSIONS/PORTS: Yes, I am one of those cruisers who book overpriced excursions provided by the cruise lines. Call it peace of mind, having a translator or just too scared to book with local vendors - its what I do. I supposed that since I studied History, Anthropology and Archeology in college - I booked four of the following excursions: Ocho Rios -- Bob Marley Experience: I have taken this excursion three times - for me, it is about the views as we drive through the mountains to reach Nine Miles - Marley's final resting place. BTW - I am that less than 1% of visitors on this tour who is not interested in the "smoke" or feeling the necessity of making a Marley pilgrimage. I found that this excursion gave me a peak into the lives of local communities and their way of life. Harvest Kaye -- Monkey River Eco Tour: I was a bit unprepared for this excursion. I guess I missed the part of the description where it said to wear long pants and sleeves and good walking shoes. I wore two out of three - glad I wore sneakers (I'll tell you why in a minute). The high-speed 30 minute boat ride through mangrove trees from the pier to Monkey River - was great. Then we got to the mouth of the Monkey River and slowly made our way several miles (not sure of the distance) upriver. Our tour guide and his boat operator - pointed out wild life, vegetation while sharing personal and historical insights of Monkey River. Then we stopped (this is part of the excursion I missed/didn't read - and why one really needed to wear long pants, shirt and very good walking shoes). Apparently, part of this excursion involved trekking through the jungle/rain forest. On this day - we were very very lucky as temperatures were in the 70s and no mosquitoes (when we started). We met up with two other tours - everyone heading about 1/2 mile into the jungle searching for howler monkeys. BTW, I forgot to mention as we made our way towards the howler monkeys - the ground was muddy, and we were advised against from reaching out/grabbing any hanging vegetation as it could have spikes (hence the need to for the long sleeves and pants). Slowly we made our way into a clearing where we were able to see the howler monkeys on tree tops. Once we got there - guides were assisting all tourists - not just the ones in their tour group - but everyone who looked like they needed assistance (MUCH APPRECIATED). We weren't at the clearing very long when we noticed that temperatures started to rise and the mosquitoes and other flying biting critters started to return (glad I used bug spray - some did not and paid the price!) As we headed back to our river boat - it seemed like the ground got muddier? Maybe - maybe not? In any event - glad I wore sneakers and not flip flops as I saw on other tourists. As we made our way back through the jungle, you could feel the temperature rising (good thing we were at the end of this part of the tour). We boarded the boat and quickly made our way towards the pier. We stopped in a small village where folks could buy trinkets, drinks, food and use the restroom. I spent my time cleaning my sneakers as the caked with mud. George Town -- Trolley Tour: I booked this excursion as a starting point of where I wanted to go back and visit once the tour ended. Unfortunately, since we were in port on a Sunday - 95% of port buildings/businesses were closed. Costa Maya -- Chaccoben Mayan Ruins: For me, this excursion never disappoints. Where else can you still visit a ruin - climb steps that are centuries old? Cozumel -- Jose Cuervo Tequila Tasting Experience: I do not like tequila - not sure why I booked this excursion, but I did. I found the tour guide and the experience learning how to taste tequila fun! OVERALL: I was pleasantly surprised with EPIC's crew and ship - despite it no longer ranking as one of NCL's newer ships in the fleet. I was pampered and so relaxed that I never got board or felt that the cruise dragged on longer than it needed to be. I can't wait to book another NCL cruise (Haven if I can manage) - it just won't be Haven Spa suite. Read Less

This was our second voyage on the Epic, it isn't may favorite ship but hey I was on a cruise so nothing to complain about. The thing I don't like about the Epic is the location of the casino and the smoky air. I wish cruise ships would put smokers in a glass room. I have breathing issues and it really bothers me. I don't understand why cruise companies would ruin their ships with smoke. We had a great time overall though. It was our first 10 day cruise (other cruises have been 7 days) and it was fantastic. Didn't get to stop at Great Stirrup Cay, was looking forward to exploring the other side of the island that we didn't get to when we were there the first time, but we got an extra sea day which are my favorite. We did however go to Harvest Caye the other private island and boy is it beautiful island. We also stopped at Ocho Rios, Jamaica, George Town, Cayman Islands, Costa Maya and Cozumel. I love cruising in the Caribbean but I am getting tired of the same ole stops. I really wish they would add new stops to the itineraries. Read Less

If the worst part was the embarkation, you're fine. Food solid all around with plenty pf variety. Entertainment amazing, just make sure you reserve. Activities well planned and more than enough. Please ignore people who are never happy, complaining about stupid stuff while refusing to see the bigger picture. If you couldn't find something to eat or do on this ship, the problem is you, not the Epic. You go on a megaship then complain about it being crowded. Doesn't make sense. All these small things could happen any time. Sure, they need a bigger port, but miniscule detail. Embarkation started badly, but ended smooth and once on board it was forgotten. Complaining about the room? It's a place to sleep, shower, and poop. The layout is non issue for me. It was all around fantastic and highly recommended. The cabin was functional and works. I like the separate toilet and shower. Itinerary was good, a little disappointing not getting into great stirrup, but I get it. Jamaica is beautiful. Andre, the cruise director is fantastic. If you want quiet and relaxing in luxury, go on a smaller niche ship. The pros far outweigh the cons. At the end of the day, you're on vacation. Read Less

First time I cruised on Epic (I have cruised 60 times) I hated the ship. We went transatlantic and the ship didn't seem stable. We had an inside room which had beautiful but dark furniture, Getting the chance to sail with friends on the Epic again, I was very dubious about it but it was an 11 day Caribbean in November. To my surprise, no weighting of charges for a singles room, a big plus in my book. I had a gorgeous room with an oversize balcony. I found the boarding process fast and easy and lunch available. Dining whether in the Pub grill, speciality restaurants or whatever was good. You should read up on ships prior to boarding as I booked shows and restaurants and had no problems. My only disappointment was the show "Priscilla". My friends had seen it before and said it was great and although I consider myself broadminded wasn't prepared for that. Acting and costumes were gorgeous but story line - well …! I never rush to get ashore no matter where we are going. I go to breakfast instead then walk off or onto the tender with no trouble at all. I had an accident on the ship, an invalid scooter stopped dead in front of me and I fell and split my head open on the marble in the bar area and hurt my arm. Help was instant and I was whisked off to the Infirmary in a wheelchair in minutes. No charge from the ship. I smelled no funny smells and the carpets all seemed in good condition. There is an adults only pool in the rear of the ship which I used often. In general, nothing for me to complain about this cruise, most enjoyable. Read Less

This was our third cruise on Epic and we’re planning another for early 2019. In order to maximize our experience on any NCL ship of this size or larger, we choose a Haven stateroom; by staying in the Haven, we reduce a mega ship into a mini ship but still have access to all that a megaship has to offer. Must commend our Butler Jensen, Room Steward Bianca, bar tenders JP, Norman, and George; they all were spectacular and a credit to NCL. This was a “port-intensive” itinerary and left no time for boredom! Fabulous ports, easy disembarkation, and excursions that didn’t disappoint! On -board entertainment was plentiful and we thoroughly enjoyed Priscilla, Cirque, and Burn the Floor. We had loads of fun, and a wee bit of luck, in the casino with friendly Dealers and some cooperation from the slots. The night we chose to participate in Howl at the Moon was a drag-half empty and not much energy. The guy and gal at the pianos wanted pay-to-play your request and if they didn’t know your song, they just pocketed the cash and threw away the request. We contributed $11 to NOT hear our songs. We didn’t hang around but about 40 minutes. We dined in the traditionally fine Haven restaurant, Cagneys, LeBistro, and LaCucina. All were excellent except LaCucina which was horrible this evening. I felt sorry for the waitperson because he really tried hard, was attentive, and efficient but the food was gross. We were traveling with our adult son and daughter-in-law so had a Family Villa and the two bedroom/two bathroom setup made the entire voyage comfortable and enjoyable giving all private space and room to hang out together as well. All-in-all, this ship, accommodations, service, and itinerary made for an excellent vacation. Read Less

The ship was large and in good condition. The unusual bathroom layout wasn't a problem for us as it was just me and my daughter and it allowed us space to get ready in separate spaces. We dined mostly in the main dining rooms and there was always something that we liked. We have had specialty dining on prior cruises, and I thought I would get bored with the options, the it was fine. It was Thanksgiving week and the ship was full. Luckily, we had booked reservations for the main dining rooms and shows online prior to departure. I think it really helped this time. I preferred eating in the main dining rooms because they are less hectic. Our steward, Gabriel, was the best we've ever had, and this was our 4th cruise. I have found that the steward can really make or break your experience. I can say enough about how welcome he made us feel and how well he took care of us. The onboard entertainment was fun, particularly Priscilla Queen of the desert and Burn the Floor. It was hard to get my teenage daughter to leave the Entourage teen club she liked it so much! Embarkation, got through security and check-in quickly, but then had to wait much longer than in the past to board. Latitudes category didn't seem to help. Disembarkation was not managed well enough for those doing walk off. Many of us lined up early, then there were really rude people trying to cut line. In future, the cruise members should set up ropes and manage the crowd better. Enjoyed all the ports, including Great Stirrup Cay. Teenage daughter particularly liked the Reggae Party Boat and Dunn River Falls climb in Jamaica. Most of all enjoyed peacefully having my coffee and continental breakfast delivered to our stateroom on my balcony! I would overall give the cruise an A, and any complaints above are merely blips. Boyfriend’s mom booked cruise barely a week before we set sail. From booking to disembarkation, everything was out of this world! Food was phenomenal, customer service was outstanding! Not a single thing I could complain about and the family agrees! Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The food was consistently delicious and always different. Never had an issue with too many children although it was kid friendly. They had their own section as did the adults so crossing paths was never overwhelming or distracting. The on board shows were super entertaining and the main attraction cirque de solel precormanxe was insane! Unbelievable talent and poise from the performers with just the right amount of comic relief. Throw in a little audience participation and one of the best prepared meals we had on board and you have a night for success. Needless to say, we are planning next years Norwegian adventure already! This is was our 8th NCL cruise and probably the best. I don't usually do the review thing but after reading some of the ridiculous comments made on Cruise critic about this trip I felt the need to comment. Really not sure what some people are looking for in a vacation but everyone we met and spoke to had the same opinion, the price, the service, the food and the entertainment are first class. Some pathetic comments like * We could't go near the casino because of the smell of smoke- Absolute rubbish, we walked through the casino at least three times a day and only caught a whiff of cigar smoke once. Not really a tragedy. I wish Cruise Crtic would vet some pathetic claims that are just so unworthy as information. * The service was slow in some of the restaurants-What is the rush? we ate in Cagneys, Le Bistro, Teppanyaki, La Cucina, Manhattan, Shanghai and Taste all served superbly ( I have a restaurant so this is my profession also). We were seated, given menu's, iced water and our drinks and food orders were taken in the normal way. I suggest that some fast food clients mainly from US slow down a bit and look at how hard the wait staff are working, cut them a bit of slack and enjoy the meal instead of trying to eat at 100 miles an hour. * The buffet was not varied enough- the breakfast choices are superb as is the lunch offerings, we ate on a couple of evenings at the buffet, the first time was the fish night and was very good we both had Salmon en croute that was fantastic, the second time we ate Suckling Pig that was to die for. My advice is to the customer not NCL! people need to take a good look at how they behave whilst at the buffet and bars, the way some people spoke to the wait staff and chefs etc, was appalling. Shouting at the chef because he forgot to put spinach in your omelette makes you look so stupid. Not being aware of other people around you and just pushing in to ensure you get what you want is also bad form. I also saw this at every bar, not sure how some of you are raised but when you wait and someone is clearly ahead of you, you say " after you" or " I think that guy was before me" Manners cost nothing I just wish people knew how to behave. * We never saw our cabin steward-Oh boo hoo, our cabin steward (Anthony deck 9) was fantastic, they have so much to do and they do it very well. Our room was spotless and when we did see him he was always so good and we didn't tip until the last day. I feel that the levels of expectation are way above what you are paying, on average most people pay around $100 per day for the cruise, some more, some less. When you think what you are getting ie food, drink, entertainment and overall quality,Im not sure these complainers should be on a cruise. I love the product provided by NCL, I suppose it comes down to how you are as a person, I just wish NCL could review its customers, because some of you should be ashamed of how you are behaving. All other aspects of the cruise were great and we are booked to go again early 2019.On the up side, hopefully these minute complainers will venture to another cruise line and leave NCL to all the people that appreciate the outstanding quality given. We liked it so much last year, so we booked it again while onboard! This ship is a bit different than the other NCL ships, but we find it very enjoyable during a TA cruise. While checking rates and categories during the year, an H9 (Haven Spa Suite) opened up. We just said it was our time to experience a Haven setting. We were not disappointed! From being whisked through embarkation (as well as disembarkation) to having a butler and concierege available when needed, it was icing on the cake. Lots of other nice perks during our 12/day crossing, and we loved the attention! Although we have read some minor complaints, we find that it is a well-run ship. I will say that we always pre-book our dining and show times to avoid being shut out of preferred times. Some choose not to, and therefore, the stand by lines were always there. It doesn't take that much pre-cruise time to get it done, so do it as soon as your booking date opens up! No complaints! Read Less

We chose this cruise because it was an offer too good to miss. We had always considered doing a transatlantic cruise because we enjoy sea days and we knew the ship as we have been on the Epic twice before. Overall the cruise was a success, the activities programme on the sea days was second to none. The Cruise Director, Andre, and his staff pulled out all the stops and we were entertained from early morning til late at night. We particularly enjoyed the quizzes as we met some fantastic people whilst taking part. The entertainment in the theatre was second to none, with Burn the Floor being spectacular and we particularly enjoyed the band Albatross Air which played in the Cavern Club most nights. We had the ultimate beverage package and as usual this did not disappoint, NCL's cocktail list is very extensive and their Mimosas are to die for! We also ate in the speciality restaurants, they seemed to be overbooked in Cagney's and the service was slow, but the food was delicious. We also enjoyed the food in the Garden Cafe and unlike other cruise lines we have been on, there was always a good selection of vegetables, steamed or stir fried. The service in the Taste dining room was a bit hit and miss, but again the food was great. Our cabin was well appointed with plenty of storage and was promptly serviced, being ready when we came back after breakfast most days. A big thank you to Robbie our cabin steward for making our stay so pleasant. The ports of call were good, we loved Madeira and Antigua and had been to St Thomas before so we knew what to expect there. The biggest let down was the disembarkation. We got off the ship relatively quicky only to stand in line for well over an hour waiting to board the NCL transfer coaches to Orlando airport. We were given no information as to what the hold up was and felt that this fell well below the standard of service we have come to expect from NCL. This has not put us off travelling with NCL again and we look forward to doing another transatlantic cruise with them next year. Read Less

First I will say both very good. Many venues for entertainment. Food good, service good. Room well looked after. Could have done another 2 weeks. I love the thermal suite on this ship. Very relaxing. The gym is big and I never had a problem using the machines. They have several pay classes for the gym or I can buy a package deal and attend as many as u want. The pool water was so warm. I don’t know if that’s typical or because we were crossing The Atlantic. Embarkation and disembarkation can be challenging. Try to avoid peak times for embarkation Also need patience for elevators. I have taken 3 cruises on NCL before; 2 on Dawn and one on Getaway. The entertainment on these ships make the cruises a great vacation and entertainment value. On this one - the Epic - there were capacity crowds for a number of shows - the Epic Beatles, for example. Those lads channeled the "lads from Liverpool" faithfuly and the crowd loved`em ! The violinist, Greta, from Iceland, was also talented and versatile and worth attending more than one of her concerts. Brenda Kay - hypnotist, was very entertaining. The comedians were first rate and funny ! The sea days on this cruise were filled with quality entertainment and activities. I "pinballed" from one scheduled event to the next with breaks for meals. The "game shows" like the "Not so Newly Wed Game" and the battle of the sexes were hilarious ! One of the most memorable things that I took part in was helping assemble a 5000 piece puzzle that the Cruise Director supplied. A group of "puzzlers" worked on this in their spare time and the group expanded as time went on. This took the entire cruise - it was completed on the last full night. I made several new friends as a result of the puzzle - we exchanged email addresses and I plan to remain in contact. Who knows, we may schedule another repositioning cruise to do another puzzle and catch some first rate entertainment. Thanks NCL and a special thanks to Andre - the Cruise Director ! Read Less

Recently did the Norwegian 7 Day Western Mediterranean tour : Departing Barcelona, Naples, Rome, Florence/Pisa, Cannes, Palma (Majorca) and back to Barcelona. This was our first big holiday without children (!) and we wanted something to remember, so we booked rooms in The Haven. Wow! The Haven room was amazing, we had a balcony and spa in our room plus all of the extras you get with The Haven. I cannot recommend highly enough The Haven. You have your own butler, a concierge, your own restaurant, priority access on and off the boat, early entry into shows on the cruise and many more things. We loved it. The cruise was great too - we missed the port of Naples because of bad weather and went to Civitavecchia. That was a horrible place and not worth getting off the boat for had we known. Lots of con artists walking around trying to get money off people and nothing worth seeing at all. The rest was amazing. The tours through Norwegian was very expensive. I only booked 2 of them at the end. The rest of the tours I did with other tour organisers at each port. Almost half the price for some of the tours. For a couple that just wanted to have some quiet space, fantastic food, great customer service and to be spoilt - this was the perfect experience for us to do that. We used the following tour places for our ports: Cruising Excursions - booked a private tour and saw all the sites in one day (rushed but better than huge coaches full of people). This tour was basically wherever we wanted to go, which we enjoyed. Tour guide was good - but not fantastic with information. We had booked through Viator originally for our Rome port - and they cancelled 2 days before we left, which was really disappointing. Viator (Driver in Rome) - booked a semi-private tour of Florence/Pisa. This tour was great. We got to Pisa before a lot of the other tourists and the tour guide was amazing. Really enjoyed this one. The tours in Cannes and Majorca were through Norwegian - so we were like cattle herded around. Not overly enjoyable but we got to see great things. Read Less

Food and entertainment was outstanding with an awesome cruise director and staff that kept us fully entertained all the time. Only hitch was a delay in leaving Barcelona due to a disruption in the water service which needed to be repaired before we set sail. We used private shore excursions which all went off without any problems, except in Naples when due to unforeseen traffic congestion, we barely made the last call with 10 minutes to spare. The cabin was very nice, the bath and toilet were separated which was a very good idea, only minus was the sink was in the main cabin area which made a water mess on the floor when washing your face. 4th Cruise all NCL, Epic, Spirit Escape and now back on Epic. We had four fantastic days in Italy beforehand two in Rome then two in Florence then returned to Rome for sail, took early train from Florence then connected to Civitavecchia to get the ship. We couldn't see transfer shuttle and ended up walking to port about 35 minutes and as we were excited to get on board it wasn't a problem. We only waited about 30 minutes in the terminal before we boarded about 12.15 Luggage was in the corridor with in 90 minutes and room was ready for about 3.30pm. Smooth as could be hoped for, the benefit of boarding in Rome is that only about 700 people board, after a ship tour and lunch it was muster time in the Epic Theatre for the Rome guests, muster takes about 5 minutes then they spend half an hour telling you what the ship has to offer, we had some beef with this, it was basically a sales pitch and we just wanted to enjoy our cruise many guests thought the same. (cabin review separate) Steward was excellent and always had our room made up and turned down in good time and perfect every time. We had premium all inclusive which gave us 14 bottles of water in our room an excellent addition to our cruise Shows, Priscilla was excellent, the costumes, numbers, acting all brilliant, a must see, some people say reserve but there was a few spare seats. The Epic Beatles, we seen them twice in the cavern club, it was not too difficult to get seats if you get in early but i'm told this is not always the case, we found all the shows, dinning, bars on this cruise were never at bursting point, busy, but not to the ridiculous scale we found on the Escape, especially the Atrium shows everything was very accessible but still a great atmosphere. This point alone made our cruise. The Escape was just tooo much people, even though this is still a "Big Ship" it seemed much less hectic although there was not a great deal of kids on board!! Bliss nightclub has had a great makeover since our last trip but we didn't spend much time here but it looks absolutely stunning , Howl at the moon, one of our favourite shows we got to see three times as there was always seating even mid show, always great! We like shakers but the singer was not our favourite each to their own I guess, also seen Jenifer Fair the operatic singer twice, fantastic!! Ports:- Florence we had already done pre-cruise so opted for a ship day, weather was not the best unfortunately but we were ready to chill and have a book day. Cannes we have done previous cruise so we decided to do Nice and Monaco but decided last minute to do Nice only we did not regret this as time may have been too tight to do both via train and we had a great day in Nice lovely walk along Promenade Anglais then we took the €10 petite train winch let us see more with stunning views. Palma took the NCL $10 bus to the old town and had a great day perhaps our favourite. Drops you off at the cathedral. Barcelona We have visited this beautiful city often so we just intended to walk around the city and reminisce but the previous day we befriended a Canadian couple and ended up giving them the $5 tour which we thoroughly enjoyed, the company made the differance. we spent a few nights in their company nearer the end of the cruise, we love meeting people on the cruises, and we met plenty this time around! Sea day weather sucked, so we renamed it bar day!! Naples We got our only proper excursion here, we used Italytours.EU to do Pompeii Sorrento and the Amalfi coast at only €69 per person we can not recommend them enough. Only 15 people on the modern minibus, so no waiting around on others between stops, we noticed a NCL sanctioned tour in Sorrento and as they walked passed us I noticed there was 50 people + all following each other and they probably paid double what we paid. small groups for the win!! All in all our day was perfect 2 guided hours (€15 entry) in Pompeii, 2 hours in Sorrento alone and great views of the Amalfi coast. Dinning Twice in taste 4 and 3.5 out of 5, Service was slow second night. Twice in Le Bistro 5 out of 5 both times and Cagneys once 4.5 out of 5 Manhattan once 4 out of 5 Garden cafe was so so, bit cold as buffets can be too often!! O'sheenans was always great for some wings and a beer!! Always a great atmosphere on this part of the ship the entire cruise. We even had breakfast there a few times. We love the Epic its a great ship and will most likely sail on her again! Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the stops it had. We also reviewed separate excursions to book to enhance our stops. We booked 2 tours with ItalyTours.eu 1 for Pompeii, Sorrento and Positano in Italy and then another one for the Best of the Franch Riveria in Cannes France. The tour in Italy was wonderful! What a fabulous tour!! Worth every penny! The driver was waiting for us as soon as we walked off the ship. We waited for a few people and off we went! We traveled in a nice small Mercedes van. The driver, Gianluca, spoke great English and was an excellent driver! We felt safe and relaxed the entire day. Pompeii was really something to see. I didn't know that much about it but once we arrived there and Gianluca met our walking tour guide Sabrina, we started off on our journey. Sabina really focused on providing us with the exact history of this city and truly painted a picture of what life was like before the afternoon on Aug 24 79BC. The brothel's were very interesting as there is a section of them that was preserved and still has the actual stone beds there. Sabina's knowledge was superb! After Pompeii we drove to Sorrento. Now we had done our homework beforehand as we knew this would most likely be our lunch stop. We found Azz! and all the positive reviews so we invited a few people from our group to join us for lunch. The place was easy to find. It was hands down the best Italian food I have ever had! We still had time to shop and get gelato! After our break in Sorrento we were off to the amazing sights of the Almafi coast! Gianluca stopped at a few different points for picture taking etc It was a wonderful day and I would definitely like to spend more time in Sorrento the next time we are back in Italy! Then we met Yannick in Cannes and he took us all around Nice, Cannes, Monoco, Monte Carlo and Eze. This tour was amazing as well! The views from Almafi coast were just breath taking! yannick spoke excellent English and was very knowledgeable of the history of each area we visited and played almost a trivia game with us! He made it fun! This cruise was the most exhausting one yet for us but worth it!! The entertainment on board was simply AWESOME! We were very lucky as the week we cruised was the Elvis fan club group along with some of the original band members of Elvis's band along with the Imperials. It was certainly a night I will never forget! The Priscilla Queen of the Desert show was super fun and the costumes were great! NCL doesn't spare any expense to make sure you are entertained while on board. We really didn't do any shopping on board, we were pretty tired spending all day exploring the ports and then having dinner and watching a show after made us ready for bed early! We didn't do anything in Palma as we were tired from all the other stops. We just shopped at port and then walked back to the ship. The food was excellent - as always - Norwegian has the best food!! We are looking forward to our next NCL cruise in February for our 2nd time on the Pride of America! Read Less

The service was great. The staff was outgoing and friendly and always had time to answer a question. The excursions were informative and fun. Saw everything from the Sistine Chapel to a working farm where we had a delicious lunch. Walked through the ruins of Pompeii and the coliseum. The guides were well informed and very helpful. it was especially nice on some of the tours where the large bus groups were broken in to 2 smaller groups. Most of the tours had ear pieces and speakers so you were able to hear everything. The shows were varied and entertaining. Shows that required reservations were easy to get. You could also just walk up and get a seat. An huge selection of food, something for every taste. Ate in the sit down dining rooms where the service was impeccable to the buffet where they seemed to have everything and if they didn't, they would make it for you. Read Less

Never cruised before and didn't know what to expect. Norwegian EPIC was FABULOUS! From the kindness of our room attendant, on-board activities, shore excursions, attentiveness of employees ... it was just great. They made embarkation and disembarkation easy. Our room was maintained to the highest standards and anything we requested was given within minutes. The food choices were more than plentiful as the ship offers a cafe that's open -- I believe -- 24 hours. Additionally, they have several specialty restaurants as alternatives to 'eat and run.' Entertainment was varied enough to accommodate a variety of palettes. From art auctions to on-board shopping to game shows, bingo, a casino, and theatre productions, as well as the expected shore excursions, no one has a reason to complain. Would I recommend a cruise vacation to everyone? Yes. Would I recommend cruising with Norwegian? Absolutely. They did an outstanding job! Norwegian Cruise Lines, thank you all for making this a memorable experience for my daughters and me!!! Read Less

We boarded this magnificent ship in Civitavecchia – we are a family of 4. This 7 day cruise went around the Mediterranean with a port every day bar one. The check in was easy. Our stateroom was beautiful - we had a suite with balcony – couldn’t fault it. The staff were all helpful, friendly and efficient. The food – wow - delicious, varied and plentiful. Everything was expertly organized onboard for a seamless experience. The Mediterranean sea was breathtakingly stunning and rich with culture, history and beauty. Special mention to the kids activities staff who made my boy, who has a disability, very welcome and fully included and the activities were varied, well-structured, creative and FUN. Points for improvement? Only a few minor things - The jogging track was uninspiring, it went around part of a mid ship deck, past lifeboats etc. The charges on board (drinks, internet) were more expensive than other cruises I have been on. Overall an amazing cruise and would do it again in a heartbeat. Read Less

I have cruised 5 times now with NCL but the Epic Voyage was our first time on a “mega ship”. It had been 8 years since our last cruise and I was apprehensive of this cruise because of the conflicting reviews I read on this site. I have come to the conclusion that my expectations of a cruise differ dramatically from some people’s and I what I consider to be normal, other people take issue with. My husband (59), myself (53) and our daughter (21) shared a mini suite with balcony cabin. It had a crazy amount of storage, had a bath tub and balcony. My only criticism is that the pull out sofa is not really suitable for an adult – it is very small. Otherwise everything was great in our cabin and our Steward, Randolf, was excellent. The free entertainment on the ship (we did not do Cirque Dreams) had something for everyone and was excellent – both Priscilla Queen of the Desert and the Beatles tribute band were great. If you want to ensure that you get a spot for Priscilla, book before you board. Otherwise, you may not get a seat. We took two excursions with NCL (Pisa and a Taste of Tuscany and Pedal Palma – both were excellent. We did Mt. Vesuvius and Pompei with Viator (wasn’t thrilled with their service). The itinerary is fantastic! We chose the Unlimited Beverage package which was worth every penny. I have read many mixed reviews about the food. We are in Vancouver which has excellent restaurants so our standards are very high. I thought the food was a solid 8/10 on the Epic. The service was sometimes slow but there was a lot of new staff. I was in no hurry – the evenings are long to fill and lingering over dinner was just fine for us. The waiting staff were for the most part, kind and friendly. Although the ship is huge, it never felt crowded for the exception of the breakfast buffet – hard to get a table most times. I highly recommend the Epic’s cruise to the Mediterranean. Read Less
