10+ Cruises

Age 60s

The reason i chose this cruise was, it went from Malaga where i was staying for the summer ,and also because of the itinerary.I hadn't been to Porto or Porto mao before also the second week of the cruise was undiscovered Spain including ports like Roses ,Tarragona , Cadiz and so on. The embarkation was easily the quickest i have ever experienced on any cruise line 10 out of 10 for that ,we ...

First Time Cruiser

Age 40s

Chose this as my first cruise and went with two children 11 and 12. Embarking was a long slow process and then the fact I had paid all inclusive wasn’t on my card , so once I realised that it was a Visit to reception, where a very unfriendly woman asked for all my booking paperwork. Finally got it sorted and they reimbursed my money already spent on drinks- although by that time it felt it ...

This was our first time on Marella Spirit. We have previously been on her sister ship the Celebration which was a little better. The crew on the Spirit were amazing. So friendly and helpful. You could not fault them. The ports of call were also very good. However these were really the only positives. The food was so disappointing. We are used to high quality food on a cruise but what we ...

2-5 Cruises

Age 30s

Have been on a Thomson cruise before and it wasn't too bad ( a few years ago) however this time round definitely big changes noticed. The quality and choice of food has been reduced. Cabins haven't changed at all - very old and tired looking, not cleaned properly. Good points: 1. Nice friendly waiter staff 2. Enjoyed the stop at Israel 3. Captain kept everyone updated re: weather at ...

Apologies in advance – this is going to be quite a long but hopefully balanced review. To cut it short, if I was asked about whether I’d cruise on the Spirit again, the answer would be ‘probably not’. Not because of the ship itself - we knew it was older and would be a little worn in places, but it was charming. Rather, our reticence reflects some of the issues we experienced. Similarly, it ...

I chose this cruise because I wanted to visit Dubrovnik and Montenegro, also had Previous excellent cruise on board Thomson Emerald. On arrival at the ship we were informed that due to Noro virus on board we should expect sticky handrails due to cleaning agents. We were NOT told that all pools and the library were also closed and remained closed for the next 6 days. Previous week passengers had ...

Cabin ok but we booked a sea-view we could see a lifeboat hull! Food average, too little choice for non-meat eaters, the service was good to ok outside restaurant, sporadic inside. Pools are minuscule and the jacuzzi was out of order all trip. Excursions not good value, the Alanya tour was a waste of time, best to do DIY, Same with Athens a taxi to the centre was 20 euros we saved around £100 ...

This cruise ("Timeless Treasures - taking in Cyprus, Santorini, two stops in Turkey and Israel) was originally booked with my mother, but after a family emergency I instead went with my girlfriend. Firstly - the ports were all interesting and the excursions (booked though Thomson) were pretty good. The experience on-board unfortunately was another matter. Both the cabin and the communal ...

The Thomson Spirit is a very tired ship? Although the crew worked tireless to make you feel welcome and the entertainment was good? there is not a lot more to praise? The ships décor is tired and the cabins outdated and in poor condition? Reminds you of a car ferry? The food on offer is only average, and not that well cooked ? The ship is noisy and vibrates badly? docking in the early ...
