This was our first tie taking a cruise aboard Costa, although we're not new to cruising. This was my tenth cruise having sailed with NCL, RCC Princess and Cunard previously.
We chose this short 5 night cruise as it fell on the dates we were looking at and was really very good value. It was departing Barcelona and took in Palma, Civitavecchia, La Spezia and disembarking in Savona.
We weren't sure ...
I'll start with a variation on the traditional Costa opening... We've been on three previous cruises (Princess, NCL, Celebrity) so were a little concerned by some of the reviews of Costa. However, given the timing and the itinerary we decided that we'd give it a go. We're easy going and weren't concerned by English speaking guests being in a minority. Great decision.

We - 51 people, mosty older pairs - started our cruise from Savona, Italy. Seven fine days we enjoyded this outstanding ship and it's marvellous staffs wellcare. I asked our people what they think about the voyage and answers were praising. What we most enjoyed, was the weather: sunny all the time, warm and temperature onshore between 20-26 celsius.
Our family had a cabin with balcony in 8. deck. ...
We started in Milan and booked the transfer to Savona. This did not start well. We were booked on the 12:00 bus and we arrived at11:00. There was a 11:00 bus but there was no room so we had to wait. No big deal. They bus arrives at 12;10. We board and the bus goes to terminal 2 to pick up passengers. We think we are on our way but no we get called back to terminal 1 to pick up late passengers. It ...
The Costa Pacifica is a beautiful ship - clean, nicely decorated, big and well appointed staterooms and suites. When we cruised, the ship had just gotten out of dry-dock a few weeks before and the hull was stark white and really amazingly beautiful to look at. The layout is quite typical of other Fincantieri ships of the same class - a design that works well for cruise ships.
I have cruised many ...
We travelled as a family of 6, my parents, my husband and I and our 2 children aged 8 & 3.
We arrived into Barcelona airport on an early flight, and took a pre-booked transfer to the port with resorthoppa. Well worth the money as it was only 53€, where as two cabs would have set us back near on 70€. Arrived at the port (terminal D) around 10:30, where our luggage was taken from us by Costa crew ...
We had never cruised with Costa before and when my husband discovered he had 2 weeks holiday and Costa had some good deals we booked. My initial reservations were regarding the weather ie the Med in February but my husband thought that after the Concordia incident that Costa would be trying so hard to rebuild their reputation the weather wouldn't matter. How wrong was he! Our previous cruises were ...
WE are an older couple and have cruised several times before. This was a quick, cheap winter holiday and our expectation were not high.
We live near Barcelona, so just needed a quick rail journey to Barcelona Sants and a 20 euro taxi to the ship.
We arrived about 12.30 and had a very quick check in, a short wait and then boarded the ship about 1pm.
The ship is not huge but very clean and well ...
We like to get away in January. We have previously used Costa Cruises on 4 previous trips and had done the same ( almost ) itinerary once before. Pacifica is known to us as we have sailed on her once before. We booked thro' Cruise Club 1 month before embarkation date as it seemed a bargain. The flight from Newcastle suited us. The arrangements worked well ( Easyjet ) and we arrived in Barcelona on ...
As seasoned cruisers who have travelled extensively on Princess, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean we thought we would take up the superb offer on a Costa Cruise, as an experiment and to compare the cruise lines. We were very pleasantly surprised. I was constantly on the lookout for anything negative but failed to find it.
Embarkation at Barcelona: effortless. We simply walked straight up to the desk ...
