We had a wonderful cruise because Alaska is gorgeous, however the Ruby was the worst ship I've sailed on. Not only does the ship appear old and tired, so does much of the crew. Our steward didn't address us by name, so if that's your thing, good luck. Personally, it doesn't matter to me.

We chose this cruise because it left from the Port of L.A. and returned to same Port plus we liked all of the ports that were visited over the 12 days. There were four or five occasions where our toilet wouldn't flush. Tried calling Passenger Services but they never picked up so I called the room steward. Problem was fixed in a reasonable amount of time but it's unfortunate that it happened at all. Also there were a couple of times the hallway near our cabin and the area outside Explorers Lounge had a strong sewer smell.

The cruise was fabulous. Truly magical! My only complaint was that sometimes the toilet flushed and sometimes it did not. It was a system wide problem and Princess compensated us for our trouble. Still, it was annoying.
