AJ’s Sloth and Monkey sanctuary. We booked this on our own in advance. Shore excursions to these places were longer and more costly. We got transportation and the animal experience for $35 pp. Lots of fun and guide was great.

Norwegian Jade out of Southampton to Fjords of Norway

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Norwegian Jade

Great cruise. The views were amazing and sometimes you wake up and walk outside and think "Am I in a hobbit movie?" The views were just too amazing! I never believed that places like this existed until I saw it for myself. Waterfalls to the left an right side of the ship and the clouds falling over the cliffs. Butler was wonderful (Aries) and made the trip special with his attention to detail. ...

This was our first cruise on the Jade and we chose it mainly for the itinerary, the bonus was that she was sailing from Southampton. Check in was a little chaotic but it was the first NCL check in at Southampton for a while, actual embarkation was smooth and quick. We had no hand luggage so were free to eat and discover the ship. We've been on the Gem twice and the Jade is very similar. The shop ...

Exactly What We Expected

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Norwegian Jade

We chose Norwegian Cruise Line to see the Norwegian Fjords - thought they would be the best at this itinerary. Embarkation was a nightmare in Southampton but disembarkation was a piece of cake. Apparently the ship has had some updates done to it - taken away the tropical look and replaced with more contemporary styling. The cabins are fine but would really appreciate a night light in the ...

Norwegian Fjords

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Norwegian Jade

We picked this cruise primarily for the itinerary, along with our general preference for NCL. We arranged to disembark in Bergen when we first booked the cruise in November, and later learned that early disembarkations were no longer allowed. Since we had arranged it before the policy changed, they did honor it, but there was definitely some difficulty getting it arranged. Our embarkation ...

First time NCL. First time solo. Fabulous Fjords.

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Norwegian Jade

This was my first cruise with NCL and the first time I’d cruised on my own following the death of my husband. We had previously been on 12 cruises. I decided to travel on my own (which I hadn’t done before) for the simple reason that I wanted to just please myself what I would do and when I would do it and being familiar with cruise conditions I felt comfortable with my decision. At 71 years ...

Tampa to Southampton, eliminating jetlag!

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Jade

Firstly, we chose this cruise mainly for rest and "landed" in the UK without the dreaded jetlag! We stayed in the Westin, very close to the port pre-cruise and had a complimentary van transfer which took less than 5 minutes...$20 tip shared between hotel bell-boy and driver for this excellent courtesy. The embarkation experience was fabulous...we left the Westin hotel at 10.50am and stepped ...

The Good and the Bad

The Good: 1. Embarkation and disembarkation were a breeze. We did not bring a lot of luggage, therefore the easy walk off was a great option. We were out on the pier in Southampton within 15 minutes of the clearance for disembarkation. On the day of the Embarkation we did use the porter service for the bigger suitcase. It showed up upon our return to the cabin after an early dinner. So no ...

Most disappointing cruise we have ever had..

Background We decided to take this cruise simply because we had flight credits that needed to be used by May. We wanted to go back to England and the cruise over seemed to be a good plan. We love cruising and have spent about 400 nights on ships in the last 10 years – almost all 2 week to over a month cruises. Hotel We flew from home to Tampa and stayed at the Quality Inn ...

Freshly Refurbished Jade

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Jade

We chose this cruise because we live just south of Tampa and had yet to use this port since moving down here five years ago. We love transatlantic cruises and this was our first time doing it eastbound. The bonus for us was that the Jade had just gone through a refurbishment, and we wanted to see what had been done. Pictures of the old ship were not promising, but we were happy to see that NCL ...

Our first Transatlantic Cruise

We chose it because you could not beat the price. Our mini-suite was wonderful-just enough room and always clean. The food was good and plentiful but we thought the quality was average. Also, certain items that you would have on a general dining menu were missing on this cruise(shrimp cocktails and lobster dishes). Entertainment was top-notch. A different show every night. The variety of ...
