My wife and I booked this cruise almost a year ago when we were on a similar cruise on the NCL Star in September 2016. We enjoyed the itinerary (Norway, Iceland and the UK) and wanted to visit these places again.
We flew on an overnight flight from the US into Heathrow airport and got a transfer booked with NCL directly to the port. We got on board the ship pretty quickly, but had to wait ...
Was very crowded and staff had been reduced making for long waits at meal times and cold food.
We had a meet & greet planned through our roll call group. It did not occur as planned due to our leader had to cancel the cruise due to illness and NCL would not let anyone replace her as she did not contact them directly. We did not know that until after we were all on the ship. We ask the ...
I chose this cruise for the itinerary which was excellent. Our cabin was a good size with plenty of storage. We dined almost exclusively in the Garden Café because of an ugly scuffle we encountered at Alizar's one night that made us decide to never queue for a table again. The Garden Café was always crowded with large groups dominating most of the tables and spending the evening in the dining room ...
This was a truly awful experience! We are blessed to have travelled on a range of cruise ships over an 11 year period and always had some wonderful times and have made lifelong friends with people from all over the world but after this cruise seriously wondering if we will cruise again!! Sailing from and back to Southampton with a great itinerary we were really looking forward to this.
The ...
Very interesting itinerary with beautiful scenery. Met some fun and interesting people.Grand Pacific dining room had a few rough spots during the first couple of nights with long waits for dinner. Ship took care of it though and immediately things became very easy for dinner. Food on the ship was OK but not amazing. Inexpensive type meals was served in the main dining room. During the entire ...
Picked this particular cruise because ancestry is from that area. Travelled with adult son (47). He also had a great time despite being one of the younger passengers on this mostly retirement-aged group. Port visits, food, service and entertainment were outstanding. Easy getting on and off the ship.
Weather colder and drizzlier than expected, but only had to break out the umbrella a couple ...
We chose this cruise on a whim, after a relative suggested it. After reviewing the itinerary, we thought it would be an interesting trip. This made our third trip on the Jade, and we were looking forward to the physical changes after hearing that it had recently been refurbished.
Both embarkation and disembarkation were smooth.
This was our first time in an accessible cabin and were very ...
We chose this cruise because of the itinerary, visiting Iceland, Norway and Scotland.
The ship was departing from Southampton our local port and having been recently refurbished it sounds on paper like an excellent choice.
Although the itinerary lived up to expectations, the chaos caused by people queuing up for tender tickets the day before tender transport was needed was disruptive and ...
NCL isn't for everyone. Some people may love it. For others it's like a nightmare.
Find below some observations:
Atrium often too loud with music - why should I need to be shouting to make my voice heard when speaking to guest services?
Music everywhere all the time: why is this necessary? Many pple dont like it - e.g. Spinnaker lounge pple sitting reading relaxing. Not only is music not ...
This was my first cruise, and let's just say it didn't wow me.
There was nothing wrong with the cruise itself, however, the constant little niggles ended up spoiling the overall experience.
Positives:
Quick embarkation/disembarkation
Crew members were very friendly and would go the extra mile
Food in the buffet was quite varied and tasty
Flexible dining hours (apart from ...
