Dining at sunset on formal night. We dressed but many folks did not. We wished we didn't also (less clothes to pack!)

2nd all time cruise, first time on Royal Caribbean. Stayed night prior at Hyatt place 17th ave, they have a shuttle for 10.00 per person. Embarkation was fast and convenient. Had a superior balcony, room was decent size very clean balcony was nice. Food was great. Purchased the Wi-Fi, it was decent, reminds me of dialup, but I had an idea that it would be slow anyway. Staff was great and ...

My Husband (42) and I (38) just returned from the Feb 27, sailing. This was out third trip on the Independence, and we have yet to be disappointed. The ship was clean and in good condition, even though it is not a new boat. The staff was always friendly and easy to find. The food in the Main Dining Room was Amazing! I preferred it to the night we ate at Chops. The only down side was the very ...

We sailed on the 5 day IOS cruise that left on Feb. 27. Overall we enjoyed ourselves. We stayed at the Renaissance Cruiseport the night before so getting to the ship was simple. Embarkation was easy as well and by 11:30 AM we were in board, exploring the ship and eating at the Windjammer buffet. In all, the food was good and service both in the dining room and Windjammer's was excellent. On ...

We (with my wife and 17 year old daughter) just got back from a 5 day cruise to Jamaica and Labadee. High points: The nightly entertainment was the best I've seen on my 7 cruises. The Cruise Director Ricky Matthews was a sensation and the best I've seen on any of my cruises. He WILL make your trip fun. The food was good by cruise standards but not the best yet nothing to complain ...

I have sailed on the two other Freedom Class ships. The ship is in excellent condition and was very clean. RC needs to update the carpeting and the cabin colors and everything would be as new. The service was excellent and the staff appeared to be happy. The cruise director, Ricky Matthews, and his staff kept veryone entertained. There are more than enough thinkgs to do on the ship. I enjoy ...

My mom, dad, and I all went on the Independence of the Seas in February. The ship was absolutely incredible! There are so many events and activities on board that you can't possibly do them all. My personal favorites include the rock wall, surf simulator, mini golf course, movie screen pool, and ice skating rink. For adults, they have a casino and great places to eat. This ship is suited for the ...

This was my 27th, and worst, cruise. Embarkation was grueling. Many passengers and terminal was under construction. Worst experience yet. The food in the dining room was not great. It was sub par to all of my past experiences. Giovanni's, Chops and the Wind Jammer were very good. I didn't realize you had to my reservations for My Time Dining before you get on the ship so only 6pm and 8:30pm were ...

I like to call this the Golden Corral of the Sea. The food was just average, it was edible. There was only one meal that I could say was delicious, and it was the lasagna. The drinks were strong, but we didn’t drink a lot. I thought the drink package was too high - maybe that was strategic? I would say this is definitely a good cruise for families with kids. Lots of kids activities, and kids ...

Get rid of Heavy Metal Rock Band Cruise--or leave several days to clean ship.

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Independence of the Seas

We have taken approximately 15 cruises. This, by far, was the worse. We followed the "70,000 pounds of metal" heavy metal cruise and they left the ship (and the crew) a disaster. Arrived at port and breezed through registration quickly--around 11-12. Waited in their "holding" area for several hours. No explanation, food or drinks. At about 2:00 an employee walked through barking orders. ...

Great Cruise, Not So Great Weather

We expected to board by 11:00, but when we arrived at the port it was pretty much chaos. The cruise before was a heavy metal band cruise and they were still cleaning up after them. Several large pieces had to be taken off the pool deck, then the pool deck was cleaned and the pools had to be filled. We got onboard at approx 1:00. The crew were great! We were told that our cabins were ready ...
