Dining at sunset on formal night. We dressed but many folks did not. We wished we didn't also (less clothes to pack!)

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Independence of the Seas

What a very costly mistake choosing independence of the seas, we always go with P & O but family was going with Royal Caribbean so thought we would give it a try, where shall I begin ?? Started queueing at Southampton and never stopped queueing from that moment on until we arrived back at Southampton, queued for breakfast, dinner, tea, lifts, drinks, tables, excursions, shows, well almost ...

The only good thing was the visits to the ports.

Our first cruise and our last, as our experience was awful. Do not expect 5* service/food/quality, as it is 2* - 3* at best. we did experience many frequent/experienced cruisers, who were appalled as to how the quality had gone much down hill, just since last year, so it is unfortunate that we obviously chose to cruise on the independence, at its worse. One lady said, she it was her 6th time ...

After a reasonable coach transfer to the port, we entered the terminal and were met with what seemed to be the entire compliment of 4000 passengers standing in line waiting for security processing and once through that another long line waiting zigzag style for their sea pass and room assignments, little did we know that these lines were apparently a taste of things to come. Everything, and I do ...

A friend had already booked this cruise for himself and thought I might want to go also. It was my first ever cruise and altho I received tips and suggestions from others before I went, I wasn't sure what to expect. I found it to be a wonderfully relaxing and and friendly trip, and was very impressed by the ship, service, my cabin, cleanliness, facilities, and much of the food and entertainment. ...

Wonderful TA Crossing in May

This was my third RCL ship and my first Transatlantic crossing, I really have to say that it met all my expectations, Having just come back from a Baltic cruise on Norwegian as well, I give RCL higher points all around. The ship is beautiful and spacious and while we were not sailing at full passenger capacity, there were waits for dining at both seatings, common in most cruise ...

RCL customer service fails you.

Our second cruise with RCL after a poor experience with them on the Baltic but we decided to put that to the back of our minds and try a second go. Mistake. Once again we have found RCL customer services 'wanting' on this trip - this time aboard the Independance of the Seas. Embarkation was messy, stressfull and the porterage service a shambles compared to say Olsen or Cunard. One of our ...

WOW…..VAVA Voom, well not quite…… Not too sure why but my family group of 6 adults felt there was some vital ingredient missing from this particular cruise with which to make this an outstanding one. We certainly never experienced the much publicised WOW factor which was a great shame as we were celebrating a birthday and a retirement. After two recent absolutely fantastic TA cruises in ...

Perfect Time of Year for Bahamas Cruise

Review for a Bahamas Cruise on Independence of the Seas

We planned a family of 8 trip for 3 nights to the Bahamas with 2 stops. The boat only made one of the stops, and we were never told anything about cancelling the second stop. This was very disappointing to the whole family. Otherwise the boat was great and so was the staff. We were not that pleased with the sit down dinners that were offered in the dining rooms. The buffet was the better ...

There were 6 adults and 2 kids ages 12 and 8. We decided on this cruise because it offered a lot of activities for all ages. Embarkation was very quick. We were on the ship within an hour (maybe less) of arriving at the port. Once on board we went to the champagne bar to buy our drink passes and then we went to the buffet lunch. It was crowded but not too bad. The food was ok. There was a lot of ...

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Independence of the Seas

We used Cruise Critic so much planning our trip, that it would seem a disservice to not leave a review ourselves! We traveled on Indy with our three kids (11, 9 and 7), their grandmother, and ourselves (30...ish). This was our first cruise. We flew in the night before to FLL and stayed in the Hampton Inn Plantation. It's a little far away, but free pick up and free drop off to the port. Plus you ...
