I love Carnival, I thought the good was delicious, the staff was very friendly, ship was clean, it was a wonderful vacation. This was my 15th cruise so I do know what I am talking about. The captain is a sweetheart, the comedy shows was hilarious. I went to all of the comedy shows. Guys burgers was so delicious i could eat them every day. The brunch at sea was my favorite meal. The filet mignon for breakfast was always cooked to perfection. The prime rib at dinner was yum. Our cabin guy was very good at his job. I liked how Carnival allowed us to buy a liter of crown royal for our room. We will be going back next month and taking our five grandchildren with us.they do enjoy cruising and they enjoy camp ocean and the green eggs and ham breakfast. Carnival keep up the good work. The cruise was great, the ship was great. Bermuda was a great place, everything was a little expensive. The ship was originally supposed to be in port 3 nights, but for some reason we had to leave one day at 3 and return to port the next morning at 930, so that really took away one of your nights in Bermuda. The food and dinning room service was great. Room service was good, Guys Burgers have the best hamburger any where. The casino was good, won some money & the casino staff was so nice This was a Primary Cruise and the gifts were really nice. The shows were good and had a great people. Deon the cruise director was one of the funnest people on the whole ship. It was always nice to hear his announcements everyday. The military show on the ship was one of the best I have attended on all my Carnival cruises. Read Less

We have used Carnival before and this was our second time on this particular ship. It is an older ship, but is kept very clean, what it lacks in glamour, the staff make up for in a positive attitude! First and foremost- our room stewards, Dedi & Sasha were excellent! They gave us extra towels, kept ice in our rooms and always stopped to socialize and ensure that our needs were met! Thanks so much guys! Cruise director, Deon was wonderful! We really enjoyed the music trivia nights with him and Double D. Also, a big thank you to Dan & Steffan for hosting the comedy shows and being so friendly! Johnny Milwater, Cee Jay Jones, Thomas Brown and Jodi White put on great comedy shows and we had lots of laughs! A special thanks to LexAppeal for your nightly performances and the rock show - we thoroughly enjoyed watching and listening to all of you! Thanks to Bandit and the burger guys, we love Guy's burgers! The pixel staff was wonderful as well! Reymond and Made were very attentive on the smoking deck as well, thanks guys for keeping everything cleaned up. We would like to send a special thanks to all of the dining and housekeeping staff on the Lido deck. The only negative thing about the cruise was the long wait for the dining room on cruise formal night. It took 45 minutes to get in the dining room and another 45 minutes to get our appetizer. That was very disappointing, but the good was good! Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely do it again! Thanks to everyone that made the trip wonderful, we met some wonderful people and thoroughly enjoyed our 5th Carnival Cruise. Read Less

It was our family’s first cruise. My wife and I brought our three children 12, 7, and 3. I could not believe how easy and quick the embarkation process was. We never waited in a line once we parked our car. Understand it was an off season cruise but it was amazing. When we got to our cabin things were ok. There was a funky smell that came from the toilets that was not pleasant. The rooms were clean but showed signs of wear and tear. The walls had scratches, the shower had some rust in the corners, and the window looked rough as well. The whole boat in general had these same issues. Nothing major, nothing that made you stop and say they should have fixed that, but just small things that take away from the overall experience. Once we found our way around we enjoyed exploring. The elevator situation was a little annoying with a random elevator always being down and having to wait for what seemed to be an excessive amount of time. As far as food goes Guys burgers and the blue iguana burritos were great. The buffet and the formal dining were ok as far as food goes. My wife and I talked afterwards if we had gone to a restaurant at home and gotten the same food we wouldn’t be upset at all but probably not be in a rush to get back. The people in both the dining room and the buffet room were super super fun. Every morning we went to the buffet someone would stop by the table and just talk. They ask us about how our cruise was going, our plans for the day, if we needed anything. It seemed like they genuinely cared about our experience. The dining room was always fun. Super friendly and super accommodating. They aren’t bad dancers either. As far as the food goes though I think the best was brunch on our sea days. Food was exceptional and it was nice to sit back and be a little fancy on those days. I wish my kids would have enjoyed the kids clubs more. My oldest participated and had a ball. My younger two were just not ready to be away from us. The people in the club were super friendly and had lots of activities to do. Ports on this trip were ok. We were not a fan of princess cays. It seemed like we got dropped off on a crowded beach with nothing to do. Nassau was a ton of fun but we decided to take a tour from a guide we met on the street vice the expensive excursions the ship offered. Disembarkation was super easy. Carried our own bags and was off the ship, through customs, and back in my car 45 min after we left our room. Overall it was the people who make this cruise. The boat was fine and the food ok but I don’t think I would do another Carnival cruise if it wasn’t for all the people I interacted with over the course of our cruise who truly wanted to ensure we enjoyed ourselves. Port: Charleston- My mom is handicap with a placard. So we got free parking, otherwise it is $20 a day. Crew members directed us to where you give your checked luggage. Then they directed us to the handicap parking where a shutte was waiting for us. You will take your carry on on this bus. They drove us to the front. SECURITY: We brought a 12 pk of soda each that we bungee cord to our carry on. You will be asked to remove it for the xray belt along with lap top. You will also need to have your boarding pass, id, and birth certificate handy. They told us our room wasn’t ready until 1:30. We just got on the boat and went to eat. Carry ons and all. CABIN- The cabin was great. If you are traveling with child, I would strongly recommend you get the pull out bed under the bed. The bundle bed above takes up too much room. The bathroom on the other hand smelled like sewage the hold time. In our cabin, we had two plug ins and a hair dryer. We brought a plug in adapter that had three plug ins and two usb ports. Worked perfect. The steward brought us a bucket of ice for our can drinks constantly. No fridge. We also prepaid water which was waiting in our room. We used those for walking around on port. PRINCESS CAY: This is where you take the ferry over to shore. 8-5 ... You will have to get a ticket and wait to be called. However, we ate breakfast at 8am and by the time we were done, you no longer had to get a ticket. The mad rush was gone and you just hopped on the ferry. They went back and forth every 15 to 20 minutes. NASSAU: Same thing but no ferry.... just a long walk to the shore. Strongly suggest to just get the free shuttle that will take you to the front door and you will be picked up where you were dropped off. FREE but tips are encouraged. If you are going to Atlantis or the beach, take a cab..$4 a person. They will drop you off at the front door or right at the beach. DO NOT TAKE THE FERRY!! It is the same price but the drop off is about 2 miles from Atlantis and the beach. You will be walking those miles or taking a cab to your destination. Stick with cabs. DISEMBARKMENT: We ate breakfast at 8am, mad rush was gone. We got right off the boat until we reached the location to pick up our bags. Long line to go through customs. However, I strongly suggest getting a porter to help you with your luggage. They have their own lane to go through which is shorter. They are FREE but tips are encouraged. They take you to the shuttle and load your bags for you. If you are being picked up, they take you there also. SHIP: This ship needs to be renovated. It’s very old. We enjoyed it though. They could do a lot better with the dining room food. 5 day cruise it was a $20 charge for lobster. Crazy! Read Less

Safe to say after this I will never be on a Carnival Cruise again! Never, ever! Went on this cruise for my honeymoon + my husband and I were both highly disappointed. Disappointed is the understatement of the century. Would have been better off flushing our money down the toilet. Negatives: • Horrible food. Imagine Golden Corral gone terribly wrong, after an apocalypse. • Buffet was disgusting. The few other places to eat were closed at really strange times. Felt like we could never get food when we were hungry. Only things that were open 24 hours were the pizza bar (which served burnt pizza that’s taste reminded me of my elementary school cafeteria pizza) and the soft serve bar. The soft serve bar is not “soft serve” at all. It was more like ice with vanilla or chocolate flavoring which you could accompany with tiny little sugar cones. No toppings or anything. • Absolutely nothing to do on this cruise ship... aside from maybe Bingo? If you’re into that. The casino is small and as soon as you swipe your sign & sail card there is a $10 charge that gives you five credits. One mini golf course and one tiny ping pong table on the deck. Also an arcade, but that adds up fast. There’s is the occasional trivia. I never thought I could be bored on a cruise. I was wrong. (Remember, you’re sharing all these things with almost 3,000 other passengers) • There is one tiny pool for almost 3,000 passengers and two hot tubs. There is the Serenity Deck that seats maybe 35 people max, which fills up by 9:30 every morning. On the Serenity Deck, there are also only 2 hot tubs which stay completely full. • We bought the drink package but we were unable to get our moneys worth, or even close to it due to the VERY poor service. It took a MINIMUM of 15 minutes for any bartender to even notice us to take our drink order and another 10 for them to make the drinks. So by the time you’re able to get two drinks, an hour has passed. Service was absolutely terrible at all of the bars. • Decor is SO outdated, but that is minor. • Princess Cays — 1) the beach was TINY with lounge chairs packed shoulder to shoulder so you were unable to even enjoy the beach. Couldn’t take a nice walk or anything due to them crowding so many people on this island. But what could I expect considering this was also the theme on the cruise ship? 2) Carnival owns this island. You use your Sign & Sail Card at the bar, which is tended by Carnival employees. Your drinks are charged to your room, like all other purchases made on the ship. The automatic 15% gratuity still applies at this bar. But get this... your drink package does not apply on the island. My husband and I’s drink packages cost over $600 and you’re telling me that they don’t apply on the CARNIVAL OWNED island? Such a scam. I was disgusted. Spent an hour and a halfback here and went back on board. • One elevator was broken during the cruise, so only three by the state rooms were available for use. We couldn’t catch an elevator for the life of us. Had to take the stairs everywhere we went. This was not fun. • Waiters can’t take your drink orders during meals. They have to go get the “bar waiter” to take your drink order. Sat down for brunch and asked for a Bloody Mary and water. Waiter said they would have to get a bar waiter. Half an hour later... no bar waiter. I asked again. 45 minutes later and still no bar waiter. Finished our whole meal and ended up leaving without getting a drink. (Wow! What great use this drink package is getting, right?) • Music by the pool is deafening at all times. You’re not able to relax at all. I never want to hear another steel drum for as long as I live. • Carnival screams the word “fun” at you 24/7. The irony is that I couldn’t find one fun thing about this cruise. I think they say it so that maybe you will convince yourself that you’re having fun. Nope. • Nassau - not tax free shopping. Actually, 12% tax! Felt very unsafe here. Locals barading you at every stop to get a taxi or buy some Cuban cigars. Due to this we were unable to even walk down the street or shop. Finally escaped to a restaurant for a meal and drink. Got charged $40 for a large drink that didn’t have a drop of alcohol in it. Spent a total of two hours here. • Shopping on board was bad. There’s a jewelry store and another little store to buy knick knacks, flip flops, sunscreen ($15+), etc. Positives: • Smooth and quick embarkation and debarkation process. • The man who cleaned our room was wonderful and knew us by name. He made a point to say hello in the hallway every time when we walked by! • Guy’s Burger Joint was delicious. Only edible food on this cruise. But who can eat a burger and fries for 5 days straight? Moral of the story: please, please, please save your money. Do anything other than go on this cruise. Highly recommend Royal Caribbean! Only reason we cruised with Carnival was because we got married in Charleston and this is the only ship that leaves from this port. We were relieved to be LEAVING our vacation... something you should never feel. Read Less

Our cruise left out of Charleston and I was traveling with my daughter and two other friends. My daughter and I had a ocean view cabin #R188. *If you are able to still cancel your booking, do so! This ship is extremely dated with rust and actual holes showing. There is a terrible sewage smell continuously and not all the elevators work and the ones that do, are questionable. I am so happy I physically could take the stairs. There are No Refrigerators in cabins and there is only one outlet. No power strips are allowed, they took my friends out of her suitcase. We arrived onto the ship at 1:30pm and went to our cabin. We found towels from the previous guest in the closet and the counters and drawers had not been cleaned. Our room steward came and cleaned right away. *In the dining room one evening we were told no substitutes are allowed. My friend asked for rice instead of potatoes and she was told no, the meals are already made. That came from the waiter, Clifford. I have cruised on over 7 cruise lines including Carnival and have never been told I can not change or add to my order. *The private Island was lovely, the best part of the trip. *Entertainment was good. Comedians were ok. The piano bar is really not a bar. We sat for 30 minutes and no waiters came to take our order. Read Less

It was our first cruise and I was a little skeptical after seeing the reviews but I really enjoyed myself! The ship was a little rocky only because a hurricane came through the day before. Lots of entertainment and things to do! Needs more pools! Food was absolutely terrible! I was literally starving and only ate ice cream so I made sure I got up for breakfast! Breakfast was the best thing going! Clean cabins and bathrooms! Adult drinks are weak! Take a shot before you get a drink! The wait for the elevators are at times ridiculous! Night life was so much fun! Loved the animal decorations housekeeping did! Everyone was so nice! I know I said this before but I have to say it again! THE FOOD IS TERRIBLE! I was really looking forward to the fried chicken but I was so disappointed when they served it, the breading was hard as a brick! Overall I had fun, can’t wait to experience another cruise with a different ship! Read Less

We chose this cruise primarily because Charleston is an easy drive from our home in east Tennessee. We actually took our first cruise from this port about 6 years ago, and upon our arrival found that little had changed except that there was no indoor parking available anymore. Embarkation was easy, as our luggage was off-loaded and on its way to the ship before we parked. We did have to wait in the parking lot for a shuttle to the cruise terminal. We had purchased Faster to the Fun, and our check-in was smooth and quick. We were on board by 11:30AM, and expected our cabin to be ready as advertised with the Faster to the Fun purchase. This was not the case however, as we were not permitted to access our cabin until after 1:30PM. We had an aft cabin with balcony on deck 6, the first time we have been on the end of a ship, and really enjoyed this location. The Ecstasy is an older ship and shows its age, but the crew did a good job keeping it clean. The stench of cigarette smoke is horrible on the Ecstasy in the casino area, and many of the activities (trivia, live music, crafts) were held in the smoking area around the casino. Whoever made this decision needs a different job. While complaining about the smoke, I'll also point out that there were the usual gang of rude individuals that would smoke in non-smoking areas, and try to hide their cigarettes when folks came by, as if cupping them in their hand eliminates the stink that is obvious 30 feet away. This has been my biggest issue with Carnival, that they do not enforce their smoking rules. We chose the any-time dining option, and the dining room food was fairly typically for Carnival, no complaints. The dining room service seems to have declined over the years, where dinner was once treated as an event by the staff, it now seems to be more of a chore but still acceptable. We didn't visit the buffet except for breakfast, desserts, and snacks, opting instead for burgers and fries from Guy's. We attended the production shows which were very well done. The comedians in The Punchliner were probably the best we've seen on any Carnival cruise. Cruise Director Gary did a very good job, especially considering his youth. We had stops at Princess Cays and Nassau. At Princess Cays, we found some lounge chairs on the quiet end of the beach, and spent an enjoyable day of kayaking and snorkeling (we brought our own snorkel equipment with us). I was really surprised at the variety of fish and other sea critters that we saw right off the beach. We spent the morning walking around Nassau which is nothing special. In the afternoon, we took an excursion on a sailboat with open rum bar, snorkeling, and lunch. This was one of the highlights of the cruise. Overall, this was a nice cruise that fit our schedule quite well. Read Less
