The Great Outdoors. Has a nice size bar and buffet. Best of all, it's own soft-serve ice machine.

Chilly Start but Enjoyable Overall

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Norwegian Gem

We were going to take a 6 night repositioning cruise with Celebrity, but for about $300 more, this cruise with a similar itinerary had two more nights and included extras including the beverage package which persuaded us to change plans. We did not have great weather for our three sea days, probably only one was warm enough to enjoy the poolside area without warm clothes. October weather. ...

Good Cruise, but Not Great

This was our second cruise on the Gem, the other being in Dec. 2011. The ship and crew were amazing. Lots of updates on the ship. We took the train from BWI to Penn Station and then a wild taxi ride through NYC to the Pier. Someone on Cruise Critic mention telling the cab driver to let us out at 48th and 12th, which we did, walked down half a block and crossed 12th Street right in front of ...

Like Norwegian's freestyle dress code and dinner anytime you want. Shows in the theater at night were great. Get Down Tonite (70's, 80's 90's music) was great. Food was good, hit and miss, sometimes a good meal, then other times not so great. We had a balcony cabin which was very nice with lots of room. Coffee maker in room made terrible coffee. Coffee could be better, should have a ...

This cruise started in Miami and ended in Puerto Rico. We booked a large balcony room for 2 adults and 2 children (3.5 and 1.5 years) and it was the perfect size for us. We had initially asked for a portable crib to be in the room, but never followed-up on that request once on board because it would have left us no room. Cabin was always clean as was the rest of the ship. This was our first ...

These cruise review I’ll do it differently, instead of going port by port I’ll do it by points. The Ship: Being in other NCL ships but never in the GEM, I can say I really liked the ship, small and friendly, easy to get anyplace on it and it the possibility to go around it at deck 7. The Stateroom: Normally we book inside rooms, because we really like to enjoy the ship and not being ...

LOVE NORWEGIAN But......

I really enjoy the "free style" cruising and choices of dining on Norwegian! Seeing the Colors of the Season was a big reason for choosing this destination. We have been on many Norwegian Cruises with a variety of Cabin choices from Mini Suites to full on Suites and found then to be as presented (the bigger the ship the smaller the Cabin). We did enjoy the Ports, even with the bad weather which ...

Mother Nature played a big part in this cruise,,,,she let us know who was boss in Peggy's Cove and calmed down later when she was satisfied. We had a group of 6....we LOVED every moment of the Cruise,,,partly because we were together,,,and partly because we were experiencing places and things we never had before,,,Yes, the bathroom in the cabin was small,,,yes , they would not open the dividers on ...

This cruise was all about relaxing for us. From the moment we arrived at JFK, our trip was as smooth as can be expected. Traveling with my two teen sons and not knowing if we could catch a taxi with all of our luggage, I arranged for a driver, which was great. We used the service recommended on NCL's website and were pleased with the price and the service. Once we arrived at the pier, NCL staff ...

Our travel agent suggested this cruise line/ship when I expressed interest in a "Fall Foliage Tour" to Canada from Manhattan. From the moment we arrived in the port, we were disappointed. Horrendously long wait-time and lines at check-in. Our first sensation upon arriving onboard was that the ship felt old. Our balcony cabin was the smallest we've ever encountered on any ship (this was our 7th ...
