The Great Outdoors. Has a nice size bar and buffet. Best of all, it's own soft-serve ice machine.

We made the most out of this cruise. My son had a ball just running around. He is 12 and will be 13 next month. They wouldn't let him bump up to the teen room (Royal Caribbean allowed him to) so he never did any of the kids programs. He found friends quickly and they did their own thing. I guess they had over 900 kids on board so they "catered" to them. We will probably stay away from Norwegian ...

Norwegian has declined in quality and passenger service. I would not go back on this ship ever. Common amenities to which I have become accustomed on other lines are totally missing or available for an outrageous price on the "Gem" The main onboard pass times are Bingo (at $40 per card), the Casino (25% chop on poker up to $25 chop per hand), Deal or No Deal ($50 plus per play) and other pay ...

Badly Designed Ship, Poor Service in Main Dining Rooms, Great Itinerary!

Whenever I cruise, it's hard to separate my opinion of the Ship itself from my enjoyment of the Cruise as a whole. When you're traveling with a large family (DW and me, 5 kids from 8 yrs - 18 yrs), there are many factors that influence the 'success' of a cruise, however I will attempt to be as subjective as possible in my review. The Gem's maiden voyage was in 2007, in the midst of the ...

So sad when it all had to end. We enjoyed so much great food and delicious drinks! Sint Maarten was our favorite port. We are considering coming back for a weeks vacation there. Our cabin steward Edwin was fantastic, he kept my ice bucket full constantly like I requested and kept our cabin tidy and stocked with clean towels. He knew our names in a days time and always greeted us warmly and ...

10 of us took this Cruise out of N.Y. No Flying involved. Also had 3 older people with us. Parking with a coupon was $ 300 a car. Check for coupons . Parked right at the ship. 9 am exactly. Use google GPS to get to the ship . Pretty easy. You have to wait with other passengers in a area it was hot, and people were not that nice that tell you to sit. Then they herd you thru to get to ...

Great Trip with the exception of the painting

Overall it was a great cruise with the exception of the 2 storms we hit. The pool was closed for 2 days (again due to the weather). Overall the service was great. We were in a forward Suite and were treated wonderfully! We had a large balcony that was amazing, however due to the weather we were only able to use the balcony for about 5 or the 10 day cruise. Since NCL is always sailing, they do ...

Having been on NCL on a number of occasions this trip was different in a number of ways. Watch the $7.95 charge for every room service request. This is the first time ever that I would have to pay for room service on any cruise line. Waiter service in bars was almost non existent. I had to queue at the bar on a number of occasions as the couple of waiters where so busy they could not keep ...

Good and Bad

We liked a package which included Niagara Falls and New York prior to the cruise. The big plus was that the overall entertainment was excellent, the big minus was onboard almost everything was VERY expensive. A bottle of wine including gratuity was approx. £35 the same in ASDA £7. Minimum bet at roulette $10, £30 for 3 games of bingo, a trip on St. Thomas to see the island, basically took us to 2 ...

The Gem is a really nice sized ship! We still got lost occasionally, but overall you can find favorite spots to call your own without long searches. You see folks you've met and can make friends that way. The Sea days were rough at times, but we Loved them! The crew was helpful, friendly, and fun! The food court food was tasty, but the selection less than other ships for me , but the main ...
