The Great Outdoors. Has a nice size bar and buffet. Best of all, it's own soft-serve ice machine.

NCL fun time at sea

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Norwegian Gem

loved the ship .did not like Manhattan Cruise Terminal very disorganized at the specialty needs area my daughter ended up breaking her leg right before the cruise and was wheelchair bound. The wheelchair did not fit through the cabin doors! We had difficulty going down the hallway as the wheelchair and Stewart carts did not fit. We had to pull the carts down the hallway to an exit so the ...

Our 2nd time on Gem and 3rd on NCL. Love the freestyle and have always loved it. Our 1st 10 day cruise and won't be our last, we loved it. The islands we went to were beautiful and amazing. The only excursion I won't recommend is Coral World. We've always been made to feel special and the staff had always gone above and beyond to please you. We had 4 wonderful meals at specialty restaurants and ...

The Gem is our favorite ship! Embarkation went very quickly. A few issues with changing the time of our docking, but it also went smoothly once docked. We hit some rough seas for a bit but that is Mother Nature. The food in the main dining rooms have changed and I believe it is better than before. The service was outstanding, as always. We like to have breakfast in the dining room to avoid the ...

Great cruise and staff

I chose this cruise for its departure port and destinations. It didn't disappoint. Not an old crowd like I've seen on other cruises. Cruise Director staff offered lots to do and if you were bored then you missed out. Dining room food was ok. Not great. Specialty restaurants were great but expensive. Shows were great. Destinations were great as usual. I have been to these ports before. ...

My friend and I chose Norwegian based on our cruise to Alaska last year on the same line. We were very pleasantly surprised by the size of the mini-suite, especially the spacious bathtub and shower. The staff and crew were all wonderful and made us feel pampered from morning to night. The nightly shows were excellent - a great mixture of entertainment styles. Our only complaints were that the ...

Our experience was not the greatest. Smoking on balconies, in front of entrances so the smell wafted into the main areas and the stench from the casino was appalling. The stench wafted in the theatre on deck six. Gross. We walked out of the Magenta dining room before dessert. Our server was rude and quite frankly non existent. The food was ok but not great. We did enjoy Le Bistro. I ...

Excellent Cruise

Been on 10 Norwegian cruises but this was one of the best. Food was good but if you want high end cuisine, remember this is a budget and not a luxury cruise line. Service and food at La Cucina and Le Bistro restaurants were ecellent. Also Magenta and Grand Pacific restaurants were good too. Entertainment on the 7 and 9 pm cruise shows were excellent with special shout outs for the Norwegian ...

The 10 year old GEM...refurbished!

IMHO, Using The NYC Cruise Terminal is not a pleasant experience. The embarkation was so backed up. Maybe because the TSA was only operating 3 of the 8 check points? Once past this obstacle, NCL did a fine job. Still it took 85 minutes from time started to being on board. Ship looked great. Not too glitzy and it is easy to transverse. Cabin reviewed below. MDR ran smoothly and not too ...

Disappointing

This was our first cruise. We are accustomed to high end all inclusive vacations. This cruise we found catered to large families and party type travelers. The dress restrictions were not upheld. The overall feel of the cruise was very casual, less sophisticated and geared to those who want large quantities of fair food and drinks. The pool area was horrible and overcrowded, noisy with multitudes ...

So sad when it all had to end. We enjoyed so much great food and delicious drinks! Sint Maarten was our favorite port. We are considering coming back for a weeks vacation there. Our cabin steward Edwin was fantastic, he kept my ice bucket full constantly like I requested and kept our cabin tidy and stocked with clean towels. He knew our names in a days time and always greeted us warmly and ...
