Have recently returned from P&O cruise on Ventura to Canary Islands Having been on this ship twice before, and having cruised with P&O for the last 10 years, there has been a marked decline in standards. There is less staff in all areas and they were less experienced.
The buffet was disorganised, no trays for carrying food which posed a safety issue while carrying hot plates. Tables left ...
Having only been on one cruise before (Royal Caribbean), we chose P&O this time round because several friends and family had recommended them, and we hoped there would be a lot fewer kids on board compared to our RC experience.
We were actually really surprised at how low quality the P&O product was in comparison.
The food was, at best, mediocre. Dinners at the Freedom Dining restaurants ...
We have been on several cruises with P&O on ships Azura, Britannia, Arcadia & Aurora and this was our first cruise on the Ventura.
I will start with the nice things first The food and staff in the Epicurian, Beach House and Glasshouse was excellent but you paid extra for this service. Reception, the Butler and Cabin steward also did an excellent job.
But this was our worst ever cruise it ...
Not the best cruise ,done Royal Carribean few times ,and Tui this is by far the worst one
Food is awful and not enough space to move about in the buffet with their trolleys and electric wheelchairs
No where is the food as good as Royal Carribean for choice or quality of food ,thought Tui food on offer in buffets was basic , this is much worse
Don't cater that well if you ...
Set sail on the 20th of May for a week, Multigenerational holiday. Our 2nd time on Ventura and will be the last. Very noticeable changes in a lot of areas since last sailing. Since our last sailing we were informed that Ventura was going to dry dock for refurb, this however was not the case as mostly this was for re painting and engine maintenance. The only obvious refurb was new carpet to some ...
We have just spent a week on Ventura, travelling to Spain, Portugal & France with our two children (one being 2.9 years and the other 9 months). We had a fantastic time!
Pros:
- The staff made this holiday for us! From the terminal boarding to the second we left, the staff were incredibly friendly and included our children at every opportunity. From letting my 2 year old stamp her own ...
We have just spend a week on Ventura to Spain, Portugal and France and had an amazing time.
This is our cruise since Covid lifted and Embarkation has changed again. There is now a holding line if you turn up prior to your allocated time.
It was fast and very efficient and it only took 10 mins to get on the ship.
We had pre purchased the drink package expecting it to ready to use, but no ...
I was going to sail on Cunard on a similar itinerary but wanted something less formal. Boarding was not great. I arrived early and despite there being no queues to board at that time, they made me wait for 2 hours, so not a good start. My cabin was great and huge but there was mildew on the tiles in the bathroom, something that can be easily cleaned, right P&O?? I chose the relaxed dining but ...
Last sailed on Britannia a couple of years ago (post pandemic) and was expecting something similar. Oh no.
First the good - embarkation was smooth. The cabin (deluxe balcony) was spacious, comfortable and clean. Balcony was a good size. Room steward was polite and very helpful. Excursions and free shuttle buses were well organised (and free shuttle buses were plentiful).
The ok - food was ...
Retirement cruise. We had saved for this and were so disappointed at the level of decline.
We have only ever cruised with P&O and ALL previous cruises have been fantastic. This one however was NOT.
The cabin was not cleaned to a very good standard. No evening turndown now.
The restaurant staff seem like they don’t want to be there and the food was really disappointing. Portions were ...
