Great ports and a fun winter getaway. The weather was awful, but it was still better than sitting in the office. Now for the bad, there was a large group of at least 1200 people on the ship. The name of the group was Groan and Sexy. They completely took over the ship and were so loud the rest of the passengers did anything they could to try and escape to a quiet space. They made the cruise unenjoyable. There were some many private events day and night, that we didn't get to visit our favorite locations on the ship many times. It is my understanding that his group has an open lifestyle and from the groans and noise I heard from the cabin next door I can assure you that, that is probably an accurate statement. I did end up having to call security on them at one point. Also, the only day that the weather was good on this trip and we could be around the pool, this group decided the rules didn't apply to them about the number of people that could be in the hot tub and one lady was even smoking a cigar. No one ever came over and told her to put she could smoke in the hot-tub. You could never get to the bar in the Atrium because they were always gathered around the bar screaming and wouldn't let anyone else in to get a drink. The wait staff couldn't keep up, so forget someone coming around to ask you if you needed anything. I understand that they are in the business to sell out the ship. However, when you have a group that large that it should be required for them to buy out the entire ship. NCL should really give the passengers that were not a part of this group some type of concession. There are no words to convey how awful, inconsiderate and rude this folks were. Read Less

We sailed for the 1st time on NCL as part of the Outlaw Country Cruise 1/22/18-1/26/18. It was my husband 46 and myself 44, in celebration of our 20th wedding anniversary and first trip without our kiddos. We had a really nice time. As this was a chartered cruise a few things were different, I am sure, than normal on NCL. This was a sold out charter. Embarkation: Super easy, we picked the latest time 230pm for embarkation and walked right on, after spending a lovely day in New Orleans- Ship: We thought the ship was in great shape. Everything was clean and shiny. The Stardust Theater was a great venue for the big concerts we saw. The Spinnaker lounge was also a great venue. Since this was a concert cruise the main pool was covered for the stage the whole time but the other pool was open as were hot tubs. They all looked clean and nice. Cabin: We had an inside room, 11523, as we really planned only on sleeping in there this cruise. (of note, we have prev sailed inside on HAL, window x 2 on Disney and most recently Balcony on RCCL). We really thought this was a great room, layout and storage was fantastic. Bathroom shower was huge. Room was updated, clean zero complaints. Dining: As this was a music cruise, every afternoon until late evening there were concerts or events. As such we never ate in the MDR because our schedule was pretty tight. We ate all breakfasts in the buffet and all but one lunch and dinner there as well. We tried the free restaurants Lotus Garden and OSheahans ( I think it is called) for lunch. they were both ok, very limited menus. Breakfast buffet was great- lots of options, crisp bacon, etc. Fresh made to order juice was awesome and well worth the extra charge. Lunch and dinners got a bit tiring, even on a 4 day cruise. The salad bar was severely lacking, always just lettuce and maybe 3-4 other toppings (I am a big salad kind of gal). The first night the prime rib in the buffet was wonderful. Desserts I found to be unimpressive ( and I have a big sweet tooth). However, as it often the case, neither of us starved:) We also always had great drink service, we purchased drinks at various bars all over the boat and from various wait staff. Never had a long wait or problem finding a waiter but again, never overbearing or asking us to buy extra stuff. Entertainment: Well, as prev stated, it was awesome because it was all musical artists that we enjoy. Service: We had an excellent cabin attendant, Alex-very friendly and efficient. Everyone we encountered was polite and welcoming. The only people that was annoying were the man and woman working the front desk at the spa the first night who really try and pressure you into buying the week long pass, we bought a one day pass and loved it (highly recommend) but with our schedule it would have been a waste as we could not have gone but one day. Big shout out to all the workers in the buffet area-no matter the meal, this was the best service and most clean we have ever seen in this area of any cruise line we have been on. Tables are instantly cleared, wiped down, etc. they politely remove your dishes as soon as you are done without feeling like they are hovering. We always were able to find a window seat. Service: A++++ Ports and Excursions: Our trip only went to Costa Maya and back. We booked our own day at Nacional Beach Club (thanks to these boards) and it was AMAZING. Wonderful food, drinks, service and beach. Evan runs a wonderful place and we highly recommend. It was a perfect day. Disembarkation: We walked off the boat with our own luggage at 745am and had zero wait and zero problems, we were in our car by 810am and on the highway for our 9 hour drive home. Conclusion: this was a great cruise, made even better by the best fellow passengers and service we have ever had on a cruise. Again, this was chartered and we were traveling without our children, so this probably has alot to due with those circumstances. If we were traveling with our children, I am not sure there would be enough to do on this boat for them as there are not a lot of bells and whistles and the food, while fresh, was def lacking in variety. However, if just the two of us, we would not hesitate to book again. Read Less

We chose this cruise on the Norwegian Pearl because there were four stops and it was a 7-day cruise; the timing was perfect for us. There were many things we enjoyed about the ship and honestly exceeded our expectations. Entertainment was great. The Pearl Showband--a talented jazz band was excellent. Lace Walker, an easy-listening guitarist/flutist, was also excellent. Comedians, shows, were all better than we expected. Our room was lovely--the mini-suite was definitely worth the money. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony and watching the sun set over the ocean. Across the board, service was excellent. Our room steward was friendly and kept our room lovely. Service in the bars and restaurants was also excellent. The restaurants that were included in the cruise were mediocre. Other than a ready supply of fresh fruit and excellent breads, the food on the buffet was hit or miss. The service and variety in the main dining rooms was good, but the food itself did not live up to the great menu descriptions. Alcohol, although expensive, was good quality. There was a wide variety of beers and mixed drinks were generous. We enjoyed our excursions, despite uncooperative weather. In Cozumel, we went to CHANKANAAB BEACH PARK & SNORKEL park. Claudia, our tour guide was amazing. In addition to being knowledgeable, she was engaging and bent over backwards to make sure that we had everything we needed or wanted. Despite the chilly air, she took us out snorkeling and we saw loads of fish, an eagle ray, a barracuda, eels. The seal lion show was very cute (I enjoyed it much more than I expected), and she cooked for us. I was amazed at what a difference fresh ingredients made. Claudia truly was special and we had a grand time. In Belize, Norwegian Cruise Lines has a Disney-like park to snag cruisers. Instead we took the MAYAN RUINS & SPICE FARM excursion and I can't say enough good about it. We actually got to see the island of Belize--we were up in the hills and saw Mayan ruins and reconstructions, the rain forest (including flocks of parrots), and a fascinating spice farm. Our tour guides were super knowledgeable--about the island itself and the Mayan culture--and the bus was clean and safe. Even though the excursion suggests that it's only for very active people, I must walk with a cane, and I was able to manage it. I highly recommend this excursion and it was worth every penny. It was so much better than hanging around the manufactured area that NCL has created to capture your tourist dollars. Read Less

Weather was cooler than usual. Inside cabin was fairly big 8623 inside and bed was comfy and was really cleaned well each day. Loved all the food options but buffet seemed to be same old every day. Only liked two of the ports Harvest Caye was nice but two expensive for souvenirs would loved to be able to buy from the locals. Did not like the house band lace. There was a charter on board so a lot of areas were closed for private functions. Loved our cabin Stewart Victor. We left 2.5 hours late so we did not get to see the Mississippi River so another disappointment. Took that long to load all of the luggage. Getting on and off the ship was good. Navigating around the ship was confusing. Would like to have more activities like line dancing on deck during the day. Would not go on this ship again. Read Less

I Cruise a lot and this was my first time on the Norwegian. NEVER AGAIN!! They served the same food everyday for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The only changes to the meals were the soups and having pasta/ carrot and potato salads different days in the case with the toss salads. Most of the staff were very unpleasant. I got tired of hearing from people "Oh that's just their culture"... No! you are in customer service point blank. Speak and smile. We got the beverage package and most of the bartenders were so tight to pour more than a shot in a drink or got made when you asked to make a drink that was already in a premade container. Listen it's paid for and there is no way anyone will drink 10 drinks a day and I didn't like how the premade drinks was mostly mix or juice. I think it was so rude for wait staff to reach over you and and your food at the table while you are still eating to grab an empty plate. SAY excuse me and ask for it! And to make things even worst, I fell on a wet floor and was in a brace for most of the trip. They treated me like I did something. The asian gurl was so rude and unconcerning about my pain. I am still trying to get the incident report for my doctor. The prices were so high in the stores to buy liquor or gifts...UGH I can go on but you get the picture. Read Less

A half charter of "grown and sexy" was booked at the same time as my cruise. We were not informed of this fact and at least 3 public areas per day were blocked off for this party. Had I known all areas would not be available to us, I would have never booked. The "quiet" areas had people from this party who had speakers attached to their phones blasting music. I complained to guest services who told me there was nothing they could do. The pool deck was closed to the public twice for private events during our cruise. A staff member grabbed my son by the arm to escort him off of the pool deck during one of these parties. I had a aft facing mini suite directly below the 12th level aft facing deck where several of the private events took place with loud music. Guests from the party were throwing items down onto our balcony. Miserable cruise!!!! Read Less

This was a reunion Cruise that left out of New Orleans. Check in at the Terminal was not a quick process. Once through Security we were herded into a waiting room with no direction or what to do. After about 10 minutes a lady came walking through yelling that if you are not in line to get a boarding number you need to get in line. Once in line we were handed a numbered card. At the check in counter the representative was nice enough. She took out passports and processed our paperwork and gave us our Ship Cards. Once this process was completed we were herded into another waiting room to await our boarding number to be called. About 30 minutes later our number was called. At the security check point before the gangway we were stopped by security. My wife's photo and personal information was on the magnetic strip on my Ship Card and mine on hers. We were directed to the on board Guest Service desk where we stood in line for about 45 minutes. We explained to the Guest Service rep the issue and he took out cards to a back room. A few minutes later he emerged and said everything was good. We went to our cabin only to find our Ship Cards would not open the cabin door. Back to Guest Service for another 30 minute wait in line. Again the rep took out cards and when he returned said everything was good to go. We went back to our cabin and my card was able to unlock the door. After a trip to the lido deck, when we returned to our cabin again the cards would not unlock the door. Again back to Guest Service, this time the rep wanted to see for himself and took our cards to the room to verify they would not work then back to guest service where were told everything was good to go. While at the bar we learned that until we were well into the Gulf of Mexico we were being charged an alcohol tax even though we had the unlimited beverage package. Day two we made a trip to the Casino on board the ship. When my wife and I inserted our Ship Cards into the slot machines her name and DOB was assigned to my card and mine to hers. Once again back to guest services where we were told the Casino needed to fix the issue. after a trip to the Casino guest services everything was fixed, or so we thought. After the fix our cards would not unlock out door. Once again back to Guest Services where the issue was finally fixed. The cruise line charges a fixed daily service charge (Prepaid Gratuity based on cabin cost) which they explain is split among the service staff on board. The bar tending staff and servers obviously know this and were not very friendly or customer service oriented. Restaurants: The menu in the ships restaurants did not change much at all from day to day. The food was bland and very small portions. we ate at Lotus Garden the ships Oriental Restaurant. The waiter forgot to place our Sushi order. The food was bland and portion size was very small. I ordered a beef and vegetable dish with rice noodles. There were plenty of noodles but one small slice of beef and two slivers of carrot. Ports of call. Cozumel: We did the Mexican Cooking Excursion which was absolutely fantastic and fun. Roatan Island Honduras: The port is a dump. We took a tour van, no through the Cruise Line, to tour the island and had a blast with our tour guide. We were able eat at a local restaurant which was an adventure in itself. Be prepared for street vendors to approach you wherever you go anywhere near the port. Harvest Kaye Belize: You are in Belize territory but not really in Belize. This is an island owned by the Cruise line. The shops are manned mostly by Canadians. Nothing really authentic here. Your Drink Package is not honored here although the Cruise Line owns the island and shops. Costa Maya Mexico: Not much here but shopping at the port unless you want to pay for an excursion through the Cruise Line. We did the Salsa Making and Dancing class which is advertised as having alcoholic beverages during the entire excursion. Entire = 2 Either a Margarita or a Beer. On a scale of 1 to 10 I rate this excursion a 5. Read Less

I picked this cruise because it tied in well with a casino room/travel offering. Anytime I can get on a ship with relatively low cost and hassle, I will do it. New Orleans is a great city to visit and walking to the port is always I highlight for me. I've learned to listen and watch carefully during embarkation for numbers (or Platinum status) to be called. It can be a bit noisy there. But we were on the ship and in the Garden Cafe by about 11:30 a.m. Good deal! A large group was on the cruise. Grown and Sexy. I would happily sail on the same ship with that group again. Since that group had many of their own activities it often meant other parts of the ship were less crowded than usual. Particularly the theater. We did not take any shore excursions, electing to walk on our own. Taking a shuttle from the port at Costa Maya to Mahujal was about an 11 minute ride. We went to the end of the line and then walked back along the beach. Very entertaining. We elected to walk back to the ship along the highway that the shuttle followed. Took a bit less than an hour and also provided some good scenery. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of Norwegian's Freestyle concept and the perks we got. We were a nice size group of 52. From the minute we arrived at the cruise port, it was horrible! No organization whatsoever! There wasn't even a line. Just a crowd of confused people. The attendants at the port was of no assistance. NONE! The ship itself was nice, actually I was pleasantly surprised how nice our cabin was, being that the ship is older than I'm used to. Also, the ship was smaller than I'm used to, but I figured I might as well enjoy it. We were supposed to sail away at 4pm, NOPE.... Sailed away at 6:45pm. Even after all that time in port, they were missing items such as sugar for margarita rims. I go out and about and I notice that there is a fairly large group onboard made up of about 1700 cruisers. Ok, no prob, right? Wrong. Throughout the cruise, all the service staff assumed that we were apart of that group. Maybe that is why they gave us such terrible service. And when I say terrible, I mean TERRIBLE! Bartenders rolled eyes when I sat at the bar. One host informed us that "OUR" party wasn't in the Spinnaker Lounge. It was to the point that we had to constantly tell staff that we were not part of the Grown and Sexy group. Dining staff rolled their eyes when we spoke and said hello. Also, there were little to no activities. There were shows here and there, but few and very far in between. When they had activities, they were at awkward times. The food was great though, especially at O'Sheehans and Lotus Garden. The Summer Palace had great food, but, service was colder than the coldest day at the North Pole! Also, it was very slow. I would rather eat at the Garden Café (The buffet) than to eat at Summer Palace. Speaking of the Garden Café, the attendants there were great! Especially their handwashing songs and their shouts of "Washy Washyyyyyy!" and they have you hand sanitizer. Come to think of it, they were the only ones that smiled. Back to the other large group, because of the lack of meeting spaces, they closed down several areas of the boat at various times such as the Bliss Lounge, and the 12 deck pool deck. I tired to cross the deck to get to the other side of the aft of the boat, I was told to up to the 13th and go over, then come back down. HA! Overall, the staff made me feel like I was in the way. There were few hospitable people, such as Jason, our cabin steward. The rest of the staff should be fired immediately. I wouldn't recommend Norwegian to my WORST enemy. First and last Norwegian Cruise! Read Less

After several trips with Carnival, and one with Royal Caribbean, we had the chance to take this cruise with Norwegian, and it was amazing! Hands down the best value of any cruise we've taken so far. The dining options were great, with restaurant choices that didn't require an extra fee, and the buffet was outstanding. The Freestyle dining with no scheduled times was very nice. Embarkation and debarkation were very easy and fast. There was a ton of things to do onboard every day, and the cruise director and his staff did an outstanding job. We had an inside cabin on deck 10, and it was very nice. It seemed to us that everything about the ship and crew was very well done, especially when compared to cheaper cruises we've taken. The entertainment options were great, from the shows in the main theater, to the smaller events and performers in other areas of the ship. Thank you Norwegian for a 1st class experience! Read Less
