Wow!! Princess runs an extremely well organized cruise. Our excursion was fantastic. The service on board was amazing and the picture package was a total value!!!! We had the best formal dining room experience with an incredibly wonderful wait staff. It was every thing we would have wanted in a cruise experience. The comedian on board was the best comedian I’ve ever seen in person. My kids and I enjoyed the warm weather and sat in the hot tub on many occasions. The couples massage we received on board was fantastic except for the sales pitch that came at the end of the massage. Unfortunately, that tainted our relaxation experience a little bit. They tried to sell us oil and acupuncture treatments at the end. Bad call and disappointing. Honestly, that is the only negative experience we had for the whole week. I really can’t say enough good things about our cruise experience. We would travel on princess anytime. The boarding and disembarking was so smoothe and easy as well. . Read Less

Our first Princess Cruise was fantastic. Went with another couple and we had a great time. Weather was fantastic in all ports. Missed Tracy Arm, but Endicott was great. Viewing very close. Only did buffet once, but dining room and Crown Grill, plus a couple of room services were great. Just not enough time in ports with doing a shore excursion. Could have spent 2 days each in Ketchikan and Skagway. The towns were small, but quaint. Juneau was just Ok. Could have left off stop at Vancouver as it was only a few hours and at night. Will go back to Vancouver. Spa services were just too expensive. Pizza and trident grill was very good. Shows were good. Adele singer should be in the big theater. Saw many bears in Ketchikan. Roberts tram in Juneau was great. Fantastic views. White Pass train ride was fun, again fantastic views. Could have spent more time in Ketchikan and Skagway as towns were small, but quaint. Skagway was our favorite port. Could have skipped Vancouver as only a few hours there and mostly at night. Very pretty City, will go back to visit for a few days. Let Princess book air, hotel and transfers and price was good and everything was taken care of for us. Will cruise with Princess again. Thought Carnival was good, but Princess was better. We love children, but there were very few and that made it a more pleasant experience. Not much, if anything for children to do. Read Less

We went on a friends 50th anniversary party, with 81 people. We loved the small boat excursion through fiords, and we loved the train ride the time before we cruised, and we loved the gardens in Victoria the time before we cruised. We loved our Botticelli waiters Joseph and Alexandro. I loved Reena, and Xanisha in the spa. The spa shoes were never available but always in the dirty hamper. The spa equipment and products seemed cutting edge. I wish the bands and entertainment would have started at 7:30 after our early dinner instead of at 9:30 PM or so. I wish we had more speakers and naturalists. I liked the dueling chefs. The arrival and the departure was very efficient. I wish they would have had scrolling print outs of the captains announcement on channel 44, because we couldn't alway hear the hall announcements, and a scrolling text on that ship channel would convey all the information missed. Our cabin steward, Winston, was a dream come true, If we needed anything, Winston was easy to find and if we needed anything, he would stop what he was doing to accommodate us. Dining, perfect staff! Arkadvsz Przybyl (Archie), head waiter, along with Jayson and Malroy made our dining experience PERFECT! We have been on many cruises and have never had a dining crew treat us as though we were the only ones on the ship! The Salmon excursion through Princess was great! Princess chef cooked the fresh salmon, and Archie went over and above to make sure everything was perfect, which was always perfect! We would definitely go again on the Emerald Princess with this crew! Read Less

TRIP REPORT EMERALD PRINCESS SEATTLE ALASKA RETURN AUGUST 19-26-2018 This voyage is a long anticipated high school friend’s reunion, leaving our dear families at home. I ventured off to enjoy my 31st cruise (My Baskin Robbin’s Cruise - get it!?) and my friends, were on their very first cruise! Although we live in Canadian cities, we chose a Seattle departure and an ALASKA cruise mostly due to price on the particular week when we all had time available. We chose our hotel, The Sleep Inn SEATAC, from trip advisor reviews. Not fancy by anyone’s standards, it was perfect for us and well priced “for Seattle”. After we’d arrived, cleared customs , and collected luggage, we called the hotel shuttle that arrived within 30minutes. We’ll be saving Seattle Touring for another trip ..... Sail away day we got to the port via Uber/Lyft For $38 Once arriving at Pier 91 at 11:45, we were onboard with 15 minutes. Embarkation could not have been smoother! Staterooms were all ready for us as was the Welcome Aboard Buffet. Food - we are not buffet people but we ARE definitely Dining Room and International Cafe People! The new coffee card system works fine. Another barista or two would help - Waits for coffee are usual but not ridiculous. The delicious sandwiches, salads and little sweets plus the breakfast parfaits, make it my spot of choice. And the staff, particularly Magda, Lisse and Tepa, are beyond amazing. Oh how I wish to take them home with me. Our dining room experience was excellent. During the whole week we ate every dinner meal and many breakfasts there. Valerio and his partner Deepak treated us as royalty. In general, staff on the ship were over the top friendly and helpful. The ship is in beautiful condition although I hear it’s soon in dry dock for a sprucing up! All I can see it needs is faster internet!! Port of Ketchikan - we walked to Creek Street, found the Eagle Cafe and had ice tea and WIFI! It was a very warm day - HOT, if you were all bundled up for Alaska like I was! Note to self - believe THE WEATHER forecast in the Patter !!! Love the cute and quaint village of Ketchikan. In Juneau we took the ship’s Whale Watching Adventure which was well organized. We sighted 3 humpback whales, seals, sea lions, otters and eagles. Now that I’ve done it , I probably wouldn’t do it again - but I’m glad I did it once and I recommend the company Allen Marine, indisputably. And in Skagway we had booked privately, a glass blowing experience with Jewel Gardens. Their info sent to us, said to take the $2 SMART bus. Not all SMART busses go there FYI! But no matter, we eventually arrived at the delightful location and in a nice personal group of 8, we tried our hand at this art. This is yet another life-time experience I’m SO glad I did! Zack and Spencer are terrific teachers and a real credit to Jewel Gardens! Ship entertainment- in a word “excellent “. I even liked the Cruise Director Jen. Usually I find CD’s obnoxious but she was the most personable one yet! Yay Jen from Toronto! I didn’t love the Highly touted production show Magic To Do but the other two Production Shows were terrific. We didn’t find trouble at all with getting seats even when we got there last minute and even late! Any EVENTS held in the Princess Theatre during the day were only 3/4 or less in capacity. We experienced none of the packed theatre and seat saving others speak of. “Pretend” Elton John was ok at best but it was a fun show. The Voice of the Ocean showcased some talented fellow passengers. The Piazza is always the busiest place on the ship but my goodness those ladies work hard and with a pleasant demeanour. Disembarkation went smooth as silk. Walked off even earlier than our scheduled time of 9:55. Jumped in a taxi and $40 later we were at SeaTac. Yes! I am still a Princess Cheerleader after another excellent week. Read Less

My husband and I have talked with my brother and sister-in-law about taking an Alaskan Cruise for 25 years and finally had the opportunity to take one on 8/19/18. Although my husband was a little sad he didn't get to see any bears, the cruise was everything I hoped it would be! We went on fun excursions and enjoyed relaxing on the cruise ship as well. Our Cabin Steward, Eduardo, was so polite, well-mannered and so sensitive to our needs. He also never intruded on our time in the stateroom but kept everything perfectly maintained. All the dining room servers and attendants were amazing, never leaving us wanting for anything. We had an especially friendly and efficient server named Magdelena (from Poland) at the International Cafe, who not only greeted us like we were personal friends but delivered excellent service. The entertainment on our cruise was fabulous, especially the comedian, Carlos Oscar and the Elton John tribute!! I would highly recommend an Alaskan cruise on the Emerald Princess! Read Less

We chose this cruise because my Girlfriend never sailed to Alaska. i have been three times before. i knew i made the right decision. i have never sailed Princess cruise lines and i was a little bit uneasy but i went with them. The price was very competitive, We got a MINI SUITE fabulous accomodations. The view from the private balcony was outstanding. i can still see the whales frolicking beside our ship .Talk about BIG The Emerald was huge ,over 3000 passengers, but the Staff was incredible. We had an amazing steward who catered to our room needs. The food was excellent and plentiful, great variety, very tasty, mu;ltiple restaurant for different taste. The entertainment was first class, i particular enjoyed Oscar the comedian, Sir Elton John ,what a great voice. I would go again in a second. I am planning another cruise within 2 years .maybe a golf cruise,, Oh i almost forgot The Accupunture was fabulous, make sure you try it. Our waiting staff at dinner was first class. Always on time and helpful in selection of menu. Katrina was the best. The excursions that were booked thru the cruise line ran smooth, i can reccommend the fishing in ketchikan .The railroad in Skagway thru the White pass was exciting. The various shops in Juneau ,were tasteful, and not bad pricing. This was our first cruise experience ever. I did quite a bit of research on the internet and on youtube before deciding on an Alaska Cruise. We wanted something we could do in 1 week (short in case we discovered cruising is not our thing). We wanted it local so we wouldn't have to fuss with flight travel. We live in WA so it was an easy drive to Seattle to embark. Since it was for our 10 yr anniversary, we splurged. We reserved a Penthouse Suite. Our experience was 100% wonderful! I just can't think of a single negative thing to say. From the moment we entered the gates of the port, we were whisked through the registration process and were actually standing on our deck within 10 minutes of walking through the gates. Since we had a premier room, I guess we had priority embarkation that made this possible. The room-- fantastic! It had everything we needed. So much extra storage in the closet and the sides of the bathroom vanity that I found we didn't need the extra storage items we brought. We had free laundry service-- so we really didn't need to bring all the clothes we brought. We simply put our daily used clothes in a bag and a couple of days later, it was in our closet hung up, clean. All the extra little touches we had-- two little chocolates on the bed every night with turn down service, champagne and glasses on our embarkation day, a coupon for free dinner at Share or Crown Grill the first night, fruit basket and canapés in our suite that we could refresh/re-order whenever we wished. Our room steward anticipated all our needs and wants and managed to keep our room clean and tidy without being intrusive in any way. Dining was excellent. We ate at Share, Crown Grill and the Club Class Dining area of the DaVinci dining room. Delicious-- everything we had was absolutely divine! A favorite place to go for a treat at any time of day soon became the international cafe. Loved it! Every time we went they had a selection of 5-7 different small desserts and also quiches, sandwiches, pasta, soup, etc. On our excursion days, we would go down to the International Cafe and pick up a few cookies to take with us in case we wanted a snack during an excursion. This worked out well. Having a balcony on this Alaska cruise proved invaluable. We slept with the curtains open and awakening to misty fjords and the gorgeous Alaskan forests floating by was magical and a sight I'm so glad we had the privilege to experience. That said, we had the chance to tour an interior cabin and we both agreed they are quite nice and we could easily book one of those (much more affordable!) on other cruises. Initially, my husband was worried there wouldn't be anything to do and he might be bored. In fact, there was so MUCH to do, we found there wasn't enough time for it! We never watched any of the DVD's we brought. He never played any of the video games he brought. I only read for about 15 minutes. We soon developed what we called "Missing Out Syndrome." No matter what we were doing, we were worrying that we were missing out on yet another great activity on the ship! One thing that helped us was to make a list of the things that were MUSTS for us. Swim in a pool, watch a movie on the top deck, go for a walk around the decks, do some shopping. So we made a list and started ticking them off. Since it's our 10th anniversary, I booked an appt at the salon to have my hair done and a photo shoot session with their Platinum Photo Studio. The pictures are SO beautiful. They cost a LOT of money, but I think they are well worth the results that captured us at this stage in our marriage/lives. We went to a comedy show, we watched a presentation about whales, we went to a presentation by a logger, we went to a magic show. All were great fun!! Our excursions: Ketchican: We went on the Silverking Resort Crab Feast and this was our favorite excursion of all! Fantastic! Bus ride to the little marina. A 30 minute narrated boat ride with multiple wildlife sightings along the way. Then a short hike through a forest. Back to the resort for a delicious seafood fest "Crab Pot" style. Great food, company, conversation, and all in a majestic beautiful covered outdoor setting. I would do this again-- highly recommend! Juneau: We went on the Mendenhall Glacier with Glacier Gardens tour. We were taken to a salmon hatchery to learn of what they do there, to see the salmon and learn about them. Then to Glacier Gardens to tour the gardens and the gift shop. I wish we would have had more time there! Magical gardens!! Then to Mendenhall Glacier. Which was beautiful and impressive. Unfortunately it was raining and cold and by then we were pretty soaked. We spent most of our time at the visitor center look out tower. A ranger spent some time talking to us about salmon and bears and that was super informative. Then, back with a pleasant bus ride to the pier. Skagway: We took a ride on the White Pass Railroad and that was gorgeous. Our only complaint was the totally fogged up windows in the trains, but everybody cooperated in wiping, wiping, wiping so we could all keep the views clear. After, we just spent a good long while walking through the picturesque downtown area. There was plenty of time to take all of that in. We felt the port time was very appropriate here. Victoria: Trying to save money, I didn't book an excursion. Instead I thought I'd be smart and order the tickets online and we could just grab a taxi there. Smart right? NO. First of all, we arrived at 7 pm. The gardens I think close at 9pm or 10pm at the latest. The area was flooded with tourists who had the same idea and TWO cruise boats that disembarked before we did. So the taxis were in short supply. By the time a taxi was avaialable for us, it was past 8 pm. Then we learned it would be a 45-50 minute ride to get there (and expensive--by taxi!). We figured it just wasn't worth the time and money to do this, so we opted for a taxi ride into downtown. A few minutes away. We walked around, did some light shopping. Went to dinner at a FANTASTIC little restaurant (Tibetan Kitchen for anyone interested) where we had wonderful lamb curry and other dishes. Portions are very generous! Then we had a leisurely walk back to the pier. It took us maybe 30 minutes to walk back slowly through a very safe, very clean neighborhood while passing The Empress Hotel and a government building, a marina. A balmy summer night and it was a perfect night for a stroll. I really think one would need more time at the gardens to explore than what is available (I've never been) but, if that were my only opportunity to see the gardens, then I would advise booking the excursion. The buses were waiting for those already booked for the excursion and left shortly after we arrived at port. Lesson learned! What I would have done differently: I spent too much time in the salons because we were lured in with coupons and giveaways etc the first day. The hair appointment was worthy, but I'm not a massage person so I shouldn't have gone ahead with that. Also, I could have had a cheaper and just as good manicure prior to embarkation. Note to self! I feel the extra time I spent there could have been spent elsewhere on the ship (missing out syndrome!). We committed to too many "appointments." We spent too much time indoors at contests, giveaways, etc and I wish we would have spent more time on the decks enjoying the views, going for walks, watching an outdoor movie, going to another show, etc. Read Less

We cruised on Ruby Princess a few months ago to Mexico and were very impressed with the line so we booked our AK trip with Princess too. Entertainment were great. Staff members were amazing. Food was fresh and elegantly prepared and served. Formal meals were not just for eating---but events to be experienced. There were 10 adults + 1child (4 yo) and we would split up to go to trivia challenges or tour backstage and do a Q&A with the dancers/singers or play a table game we found in the library and then all meet up for dinner or watched a comedian or magician together. So--there was plenty of togetherness with enough opportunities for down time to decompress. The people that made this cruise ship stand out are Alex (cruise director), Yessy and Ampolo (asst cruise directors), Juliet (hostess in Horizon and DaVinci restaurants) and Jose Luis (waiter in Curtis Stone's Share restaurant). They're all so freaking adorable that I wanted to take them home with me!! The excursions at the ports of call were fun and interesting but I could have stayed on the ship for the entire week and taken line dancing classes or played Family Feud or Who's The Cuckoo? and don't think I ever would have tired of it. My brother and sister-in-law were both finalists in VOICE of the Ocean and that was fun to cheer them on to the finale. Bring nice clothes to dress up a bit for dinner. It's not mandatory (except on formal nights) but it will make you feel special. It was hard to go home after having an entire fleet of crew members there to pamper and spoil us. This is the life!!! This cruise was chosen for my by family members, to celebrate my dad's 80th birthday. I was excited to go to Alaska and Canada. This cruise exceeded my expectations and went beyond. Everyone in our 14 person party had a great time. We were never bored, in fact I wanted more time during my day so I could do more activities. I was often trying to decide which activity to participate in. The entertainment spanned from bingo, music shows, comedians and trivia to art shows, wine tasting and movies. We went swimming (yes in Alaska) and it was marvelous. There was golf putting basketball and other games up top. They were seriously so fun The cities we visited were beautiful and prepared for the disembarkment of multiple cruises with thousands of people. We were able to shop, hike, go whale watching, see amazing glaciers, waterfalls and wildlife. I highly recommend this cruise. I've already told my friends about it and recommended to them that they go. Read Less

We had a fabulous cruise. We celebrated our 42nd anniversary and had two other couples with us this time. We had a wonderful time with Michel and Alvin as our waiters in the Botocelli dining room. Our whale watching excursion was top notch. We got to see 10-12 humpback whales “bubbling” and we enjoyed seeing them. We had a great time looking at the catch pot with starfish, urchins, and several fish in it. We got to count and catalog the catch. We also identified the whales flukes to see if they had been cataloged. Both embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly. Our cabin was nice (Yoos took very good care of us) and we loved being out on the balcony watching for whales. All the entertainment we attended was fabulous. We especially enjoyed Oscar Carlos. We got to listened to him on two different nights and loved his performance. We even got to talk to him personally and found out he had been in San Antonio Texas for his military training. Service was exceptional. Anytime we needed something Yoos got it for us. Our excursions were great. Our friends enjoyed the lumberjack show and getting to see the native totem poles. Our whale watching tour was the best and highlight for everyone. The train ride was also enjoyable. We all would have liked to have more time in Victoria, BC. The tour we took of the island was good but would have enjoyed having some time visiting the town. Would we go again. Yes!!! This was our second time and enjoyed it just as much as the first time. We choose Emerald Princess based solely on price at the time of purchase. We knew we wanted to go to Alaska. Because of the cheaper fare, I thought that we might have a budget cruise. That is not the case. We were treated with the utmost respect and felt we were treated exceptionally well just as cruisers who paid for the pricier suites. The ship was beautifully furnished. The service was over the top wonderful and the food extravagant. Embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly and without hassle. I heard from another couple at high tea that they've had nightmare embarkations and Princess handles the process the best. The interior cabin was sufficient and roomy for two people. The dining experiences felt like fine dining every night. I truly felt spoiled with the service. The buffet was extravagant and had tons of food options for all types and ages of cruisers. It was nice to talk to the servers about their home country and how long they have been on board. The ports were interesting and fun and the two shore excursions were worth every penny. Go on the railway excursion if you can. It doesn't disappoint. My first positive cruise makes me a fan and I would definitely cruise again. You feel spoiled, special and are treated so well by all the crew members. Read Less

This cruise was gifted to us and we went with family. It was our first ever cruise, so nothing to compare it to, but it was wonderful. We were on the Aloha deck starboard, with balconies. Our 4 staterooms were all side by side so we were able to open the dividers on the balconies. We discovered the Wheelhouse our first night and the amazing Irish duo, The Rolling Waves. We watched a few other shows, but kept coming back to them. Our bar stewardess Joanna was friendly and always had a smile. She knew what we wanted after the first night. The food was good. Breakfast at the buffet go a little tiring at the end, but it changed up at lunch and dinner. The best meal was at Shares. Our cabin wasn't huge, but it was spacious enough for the two of us. The balcony added that extra needed space. It was clean and our Stateroom steward Suraj was amazing. We did one expedition in Juneau, booked through the ship. That went smoothly with no issues booking or otherwise. Overall we had a wonderful experience and want to take our grown kids on a cruise one day. From what we learned on ship, this one is going to drydock next year to get a facelift. Read Less

Princess has the absolute best customer service, staff and crew. The cruise directors are engaging. It's always a fun experience. The food is incredible. The cabins are small, but well maintained. Elegance that has seemed to disappear from the other cruise lines. The passengers are truly appreciated on Princess. Absolultely love that we could have dinner at different times each night and meet different people. The afternoon tea was delightful. Had a blast with the photo staff taking portraits. Best value for the money to get the portrait package. Includes the thumb drive (in the shape of the ship) AND the prints. No other line does that, (at least none that we've traveled on.) The guest speakers and educators were fun. And their presentations were fun, not boring. Loved the puppies and the ax throwing. One of my favorite things about Princess is how the cruise directors get involved and join in the activities with you. And they go out of their way to make sure you are enjoying yourself. And it's nice to see how well trained the wait staff is. Always there to fill a water glass, clear your plates and bring you whatever you need. By far our absolute favorite cruise line. We've taken 10 cruises and 6 have been with Princess. Booked our next cruise with them already for May. Read Less

My wife and I were blown away by the experience. Starting at embarkation; very efficient -- we were onboard within 20 minutes from my arrival at the port. A quick self-tour of the ship awed us with the facilities and atmosphere. Our cabin was surprisingly roomy, given what we had heard. Plenty of room, bed soft as a cloud, and the balcony -- we lived on the balcony. Even in Alaskan waters, we kept the door open overnight to hear the sound of the ship's wake. Crown Grille served what was among my best meals ever. Meals in the main dining room were almost always very good (not quite to the Crown Grille level, but very good. The Saturday night NY strip steak was a kind of tough. Champagne breakfast on the balcony was decadent. Cruise Director Alexander and his staff were always warm and entertaining. The Irish duo who generally played in the Wheelhouse bar (Rolling Wave maybe?) were our favorites. From campfire-style songs to bawdy Irish drinking songs, to Johnny Cash, their repertoire was broad and impressive. Second favorite was the Walker Black Duo, usually in Explorers. The guy in Crooners was OK, very personable and good with the crowd, but he yelled more than sang and his voice was subpar. Read Less

This was our first cruise ever and it was so fantastic that we are already looking forward to our next one! We even paid a future cruise deposit while on board. We were totally prepared for our embarkation to be a "hurry up and wait" type of operation with long lines and lots of people, but Princess has this down to an art and the whole process was rather quick and totally painless. Our cabin, R228, was not near as small as we had anticipated. I was particularly worried about the size of the shower as someone had pointed out to me how small they are as I'm not a small person but it had more room in it than the one in our camper so it was great. Our steward was terrific, she went out of her way to help us with some items and our appreciation was shown in an additional type we left for her. We had anytime dining and chose to use the Michelangelo dining room as it was MUCH easier to get to than the Botticelli dining room. Food was fantastic as well as the service. We ate breakfast in the Horizon Court Buffet and it was great every morning. We ate lunch in port when we had the opportunity - if not we just chose from the many options available on board and were never disappointed. For our anniversary we did eat in the Crown Grill specialty restaurant and it was just as great as the high end steak houses we have at in at home. Ports all had friendly folk and and was touristy as was expected but we still had a great time hanging out in them talking with people and actually enjoyed just sitting back and relaxing and not rushing around like some trying to get to their excursions. We choose this cruise for our 30 th. wedding anniversary . Before the cruise we toured the city of Seattle. We had a great time. It was a good idea to try and arrive one day before you cruise so you are relaxed and not rushing. The Princess was a beautiful ship. When you pulled up to embark there were plenty of employees to help you along way, they were very helpful and friendly. When we got to our cabin we had balloons and a sign wishing us a Happy Anniversary, which made us feel great .Our steward, Nathaniel, was the best. He knew us by name whether we were near our cabin or just in the corridor. Our room was always tidy when we returned from an activity or a meal. He greeted us every morning with mail of what was planned for the day The food at all the restaurants was great. The waiters treated you with great pride in making sure you had everything you needed and that you had enough to eat Entertainment and activities were good but they overlapped or started at the same time so you had to pick one. Sometimes they did run an activity again but not all the time. Getting on and off ship for port excursion was very fast and very orderly Finding your way to excursions were very well marked so you had no problems finding yours . Would recommend going on any cruise; they are the best for the price. Had only one problem and looking back it should have been reported the first day. This took place the first day while touring the Lotus Spa at the gym. Here they tried to sign us up for different activities. At one area they were registering guests for a foot seminar, along with belly fat reduction. There were three instructors standing by. When they started to talk about weight loss and we told them we were not interested, one instructor stood very close to my wife, staring at her. When she inquired why he was staring, He said, "you need this class ".So she said to him, "Excuse me, are you calling me fat and he again said, "you need this".. We walked away. This made her very self conscious the whole trip. She had thought that she might like to have a massage while on our trip, but was so uncomfortable and insulted she did not want to step foot in the Lotus Spa again! .Princess may need to give some sensitivity training class to this member of their crew. Unfortunately, we were so upset by this encounter we did not think to get his name. By the way, I don't believe my wife is fat by any means. Read Less

Chose Emerald Princess as it had room for our large family group to travel to Alaska at the time most were available. We have traveled with Princess several times before, even on the Emerald Princess, & have always been most satisfied. Arrived in Seattle 2 days early before embarking to enjoy the city, which our family did, including the Space Needle & the Market, while residing at Marriott's Springhill Suites, which was also very nice, including their restaurant. Two of our teenage granddaughters purchased gorgeous bouquets of flowers at extremely reasonable prices at Pike's Market & were able to enjoy them throughout the cruise. Attended Mass at the beautiful St. James Cathedral on Saturday evening & then were amazed by the speed & efficiency in the boarding process, which was extremely faster than in the past, even just a year ago. Our travel agent reserved our rooms next to each other, which were lovely, & our super steward opened the balcony doors between the cabins so we were able to enjoy the beautiful views together throughout the cruise. The food was exceptional, some of the best we have ever had on a cruise & our family was delighted. Special attention was given to our 3 year old grandson's meals as well as all the others in our party. Our tables were grouped together but ate with different members of our family each evening. Enjoyed several shows with very talented entertainers & the Alaskan puppies brought on board one afternoon were a big hit. All the service was great & we especially enjoyed walking around Ketchikan as well as a train trip at another port. The ports were colorful & very clean. We were also provided the option of having our bags sent directly to our home destination at the end of our cruise given your itinerary, which was very helpful. The 3 year old asked if he could go again, & there were different age group programs offered for children which he did partake in, but not quite ready to be on his own. Cannot say enough good things about our experiences as we were extremely well cared for and delighted. Read Less

Seattle was a great place to choose to embark! It is a beautiful city and a way to begin a great cruise! From landing at the airport to embarking the ship, Princess lead the way smoothly! The ship and services of all involved were beautiful. The food is delicious. The patter included everything enjoyable. The excursions were worth the money and time! One word that describes the experience is AMAZING! I will definitely go again! The activities on the cruise included fun for all. I participated in the Princess Pro Choir and the Face-to-Face Dance Off Competition. I met some great other cruisers and the greatest staff of Princess. The food on the cruise exceeded my expectations. Not only was the food offered, but the taste was delicious and it was presented with beauty. From the pizza and ice cream bar to the main dining, it was delicious!! The cabin offered more room than other cruises I've been on. The room was comfortable and clean every time I opened the door. Kudos to the steward! The cruise director and the entertainment staff left nothing to be desired! Fun, fun, fun and full of enrichment!! AMAZING! Read Less

The ship was completely sold out, and yet it never felt crowded. Even after just boarding, had an excellent lunch in the dining room that was open instead of going to to Horizon Buffet. We had very good to excellent food in the “any time” dinning room —never waited in line by simply calling ahead for reservations for our group of four. Best surprise was the “Share” restaurant that has been beautifully built at the back (aft) of the ship—with an adjoining bar. Great views and atmosphere with food recipes created by Chief Curt Stone from Australia! Celebrated my birthday there an then enjoyed jazz at the bar. Our 12th cruise and we weren’t expecting much based on some of the reviews—but the ship is in great shape with usual good Princess service. Had good times at each port—especially the Shrine of St. Theresa in Juneau and the gardens and fireworks in Victoria. only suggestions are to upgrade TV offers in staterooms and improve food in Buffet—breakfast is good. We rented Cars in Juneau and Skagway and got to see more and economically with four people. Great cruise. Read Less

My wife & I have cruised 40+ times (mostly Disney, RCCL, NCL) and this was our 3rd time to Alaska and only 2nd time on a Princess cruise ship. Celebrated 39th wedding anniversary and the Emerald Princess was absolutely wonderful. From the overall daily itinerary to the Alaskan excursions at these ports (Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, & Victoria) to the quality of food offerings to the cleanliness of our cabin & finally to the service from all Princess employees. My grade is an A overall!! Just returned today (July 8th) and this review needed to be sent asap for those families planning on taking this cruise before summer is over. Weather??? Perfect....sunny with temps as low as 55 degrees while viewing glaciers to a high of 82 degrees while in Juneau, AK. a) excursions-so many to choose from seeing whales, killer whales, bears, bald eagles, dog sledding, etc. With boats, charter buses, trains, and even bicycles taking you to your desired spots. b) cabins-we began with an inside stateroom & was upgraded for free to an outside stateroom. But just a week prior to our planned trip on July 1st, Princess called us & asked if we wanted to upgrade ($149/per) to a balcony. We said YES! So glad we did because we were given a large spacious room located forward on the Port side next to the stairwell & elevator. Perfect location to get to & from places on the ship. And not a sound was heard from people walking outside our room down the hall or the sound of the "elevator bell". 3) dining-we are not a big fan of buffets, so we ate at the dining room & took advantage of the specials provided at the specialty restaurants (Crown, Salty Dog, & Share restaurants). We ate at the late seating (7:45pm) which was perfect. Plus, all the offerings were simply delicious! In addition, Pizza, burgers, fries, tacos, etc were offered poolside if one wanted to eat between meals. Lots of healthy items were available too. 4) entertainment-excellent; musical show, comedian were top notch. Loved the "movies under the stars" poolside. 5) Embarkation & Disembarkation was "super easy & super fast"! We had to catch an early flight home so we walked off at 7:30am today. No problems whatsoever. 6) I read past reviews about the "rudeness" of the Princess staff....Sorry, but we had absolutely NO PROBLEMS with anyone on our ship. In fact, they were helpful, friendly, and even went out of their way to converse with us when time allowed them to do so. We ended getting hugs from several of the staff members on the Princess. That only happened to us on the Disney ships. 7) Cleanliness-cabin, restrooms, restaurants, pool area, fitness center, etc "SPOTLESS" Want me to criticize? Had to think about this for a bit. Hmmm a) seats in the Princess Theater were tight (but only If you weighed > 275 pounds) b) casino was closed on the last day of cruise since we stopped at Victoria, B.C. and there's a Canadian law that prohibits casinos to be open 6 hours prior to landing in port. That's all we found on the negative side. Sorry to disappoint you, Debbie Downers. Great value for our money. Again, we give an overall Grade of A Read Less

The service on the Emerald Princess was exceptional. Our cabin was clean and well kept. We enjoyed the food and entertainment throughout the entire week. There was plenty of variety of foods and venues of service. We choice anytime dining and made reservations to accommodate our schedule for the day. The quality and service of food was exceptional. The buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner had plenty of variety of food. We had gone to comedy shows, theatre productions and karaoke in the bar during the evenings at sea. We were very satisfied with the entertainment venues. We were lucky to have great weather to enjoy all ports of call. Every port had something to offer. We toured the beautiful Ketchikan port. There was plenty of shopping and things to see. Skagway's train ride is not to be missed. There is a tram in Juneau in which you can hike in Mont Roberts for $30 usd. We enjoyed the sites of Seattle and Victoria. We took a tour of the city in Victoria to accommodate the short time in port. Read Less

Everything was great. Clean rooms, great service, great staff over all. We are vegetarians, so they do not advertise it, but offered us an Indian food menu every night. Breakfast and lunchtime buffet also had plenty of vegetarian choices - from Indian dishes as well as general. Veggie burgers and veggie pizzas also available all day. We took some excursions - Juneau helicopter ride to Mendenhall glacier was great. Good family entertainment - Carlos Oscar was absolutely awesome. Michael Miska magician was also good. Pizza booth was always busy. I wish they manned it with more folks. Head chef even talked to us and heard our feedback. They could improve their website experience on mobile devices while you are on the cruise. Ship was huge, we always got lost (in a good way). Alaska also caught us by surprise. We had been only to warmer places, but this was just as good. Weather really cooperated. We did not have to use umbrella at all. Sunny and warm. Read Less

We sailed on the Emerald Princess before and knew that they treat you like royalty. It was the same on this trip. We loved visiting Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, AK and Victoria, British Columbia Canada. The excursions offered by Princess were great. Be sure to take the seaplane at Juneau to see five glaciers! The train ride in Skagway is a definite must do! Ketchikan is a beautiful place. We enjoyed a boat ride that included seeing live crabs pulled up from the ocean. Never held a live crab before! Everyone should visit Alaska! It's beauty is unparalleled! Victoria, Canada is gorgeous. The Butchart Gardens are marvelous. Visiting the Craigderrick Castle is also a fun experience. Our cabin steward, Ronaldo, was great. He kept our cabin clean all the time. His personality was very pleasant. Princess personnel are fantastic! The people on the ground in Seattle, the Cruise Director, Alex, and his staff, the entertainers, the waitstaff, ... truly everybody... worked hard to make the cruise experience unforgettable! We were met at the airport in Seattle by the red vest folks. They secured our luggage and we didn't have to worry about anything. Our bag were delivered to our cabin. When it was time to disembark, a new option allowed us to put our luggage outside our cabin door on the ship and they took care of getting it to the airport. We didn't see our bags again until our arrival at DFW. The buffets are good, but for your evening dining ... the fine dining halls are the best. Food was delicious and well presented. Waitstaff was always diligent in their service. We ate in one of the specialty dining restaurants - Crown Grill. Delicious, for sure! This was our second trip to Alaska. We cruised on the Emerald Princess both times. We would definitely travel with them again. If you have the opportunity ... GO TO ALASKA ON THE EMERALD PRINCESS! Read Less

We really enjoyed our cruise to Alaska with Princess. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Our room steward was so nice and friendly. We loved always coming back to our room to a made bed! The entertainment was good too. The ship was very clean. Dining was great. We did anytime dinning and we enjoyed having the flexibility to dine when we wanted to. Their specialty restaurants were great too. We were amazed of how many food options and choices we had on the ship. They had a lot of selections for off shore excursions. We mainly just walked around the towns that we got off at. The views on the ship were amazing! If you do an Alaskan cruise you'll want to dress in layers. Our embarkation and disembarkation were very smooth. I was very impressed. Customs coming back from the cruise was so quick! I would definitely take another cruise with them. Read Less
