Penguins, Santiago and Buenos Aires!

Review for a South America Cruise on Emerald Princess

We had never been to South America and wanted to see a variety of places, including different landscapes, small towns and large cities. The itinerary of this cruise filled that bill, by letting us see snow-capped peaks, beautiful lakes and waterfalls, different varieties of penguins, two magnificent large cities (Santiago and Buenos Aires), and the very unusual Falkland Islands. The Falklands ...

Pleasant trip around the Horn from Santiago to Buenos Aires

This cruise was on our bucket list for years and we finally had the time to do it. We had three places on this cruise we particularly wanted to visit. Santiago, the Falklands and Buenos Aires. And we accomplished that. Embarkation was a breeze although instructions were somewhat confusing. Princess told us to plan on arriving at 4 based on our cabin location. But there was no way to ...

Senior Staff Did Not Care About Customer Service

Review for a South America Cruise on Emerald Princess

It seems like Princess has decided not to prioritize customer service. This trip felt more like working with an airline than a cruise line. The guest relations staff was not empowered to do anything when a problem arose. The food was mediocre. The entertainment, with a few exceptions, was terrible. The director of dining was abrasive. The decor was dated. The tendering was poor. Some of the ...

The opportunity to see Chilean fjords, Cape Horn, the Falklands, and excursions to three South American countries was the big draw for us. However, our experience was mixed, and we may not choose Princess in future. Good to great: the route, the sights, the captain's daily informative messages, the numerous delightful people we met and what we learned from all this. Great fresh breads, good ...

An interesting itinerary but a very disappointing ship

I chose this cruise for the opportunity to pass Cape Horn and visit the Falkland Islands during the Southern Summer. I was very fortunate to enjoy lovely days at Port Stanley and up the coast of Argentina. The excursions I chose were quite expensive, but worthwhile; but it was frustrating to spend only one day at Puerto Madryn, with so many wildlife excursions to choose from, and then spend a day ...

We chose this cruise because we wanted to experience South America and Cape Horn. There were wonderful excusions on offer. Glaciers, lakes, penquins, guanacos, cormorants, dolphins, extinct volcanos, Ushuia, the southernmost city in the world, Cape Horn, Faukland Islands, etc etc The food was excellent. Our outside obstructed view cabin was spacious and bright. The obstruction was a life boat ...

Needs a major refurbishment and disappointing for Princess

We chose Princess because of prior positive experiences on other ships like the Royal and Regal. We sailed 25 times on Princess before this cruise. We paid a premium for the full South America cruise. Unfortunately the ship was disappointing compared to other Princess ships. Embarkation was smooth and fast. My stateroom was outdated and worn. The carpet was stained and old. The bathroom was worn ...

Great service. Crowded ship. Expensive excursions.

South America was one of the last places on our to-cruise list. Was a mini-disaster. The ship was packed with rude people. Lines everywhere for everything. Loud people. Line jumpers. Angry, politically intense people with election-night hangovers ready for a fight. Hall running kids. Hallway blockers slowly and aimlessly walking, weaving back and forth, arm-in-arm down hallways. A ...

Excellent ports for this 31 night cruise of Andes & Cape Horn

Review for a South America Cruise on Emerald Princess

We took the 31 night cruise from LA to Buenos Aires. First time on a ship for that long! The ports were excellent & we enjoyed our time on the ship. The first 17 days were a repositioning cruise and we were at sea 10 of those days. I find activities to be scarce on sea days if the weather is not good. Not a fan of bingo, the casino or bean bag toss! It's mostly shopping and spending money! ...
