We have cruised with P & O, Princess, Royal Caribbean, Fred Olson and Thomson and this was our 8th cruise and as Cunard are regarded as the number one in the cruise ship ratings we were looking forward to our 5 night New Years Cruise to Bruge, Amsterdam and Cherbourg. We had just checked into our cabin when a tannoy announcement from the Commodore of the ship informed us we wouldn't be visiting ...

This was our 6th cruise on the QV and the 2nd New Year trip to Amsterdam. We travelled down to Southampton on the 28th Dec and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express just off the motorway and Ideally suited to get to the West Quay shopping centre for a bit of retail therapy before embarking the ship. We were pleased to see the ship berthed at Ocean Terminal. We arrived at noon and were processed ...

Whether it’s far into the most remote and hostile reaches of the Atacama desert, deep in the abyss of the Marianas trench or in the bowels of a seething volcano there will be no place on the planet where some inconsiderate knuckle-dragging cave dweller has not foisted his screaming, bawling brat toddler on the sensibilities of peace-loving holiday makers. Thus it was both in the Britannia and the ...

Enjoyable Cunard Christmas

Lured by an offer of free drinks for the Grills, we thought we would try this Christmas cruise. We have been with Cunard many times, but never over Christmas. The Christmas aspects were great: elegant decorations, carol services, good food, and Santa's visit via the funnel for some very excited children and almost equally excited adults. We were lucky with the weather in the islands, which was ...

Fantastic Christmas Cruise

My partner had done the QM2 Transatlantic but I had never cruised before so it was all new to me and I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. We had a wonderful time on the Queen Victoria over Christmas last year, i'd thoroughly recommend it for anyone looking to get away over the festive period. We chose a deluxe inside on deck 1 and were very pleased with our cabin. There was plenty of hanging ...

Victorian Christmas

This was our first time on Queen Victoria although we have been on Queen Elizabeth many times so finding our way around the ship was easy as they are almost identical. There appeared to be congestion at the docks as we had to wait in a queue in the car park for about 20 minutes before being directed to the terminal for unloading the car. We had booked the car in with CPS who whisked the car away ...

Having sailed from Southampton many times we were a bit surprised to find a tail back with CPS parking at the Ocean terminal. The weather caused a certain amount of anxiety amongst those travelling from a far and to make sure they never missed their time or indeed the ship they left in plenty of time, only to find the roads clear and turning up hours before embarkation time. But once inside and ...

This was our 9th cruise, but the first with Cunard. We had high expectations, having cruised with Princess, P&O and RCI we expected Cunard to perhaps be a cut above. Unfortunately that was not the case, let down by poor customer service. We drove ourselves to Southampton and handed over 2 perfectly good working order suitcases, by the time we got to our cabin after over an hour and a half wait, ...

Grills or not to Grill

As to be expected the itinerary was changed due to the weather although we did make 3 ports as planned but Rotterdam instead of Amsterdam Zeebrugge on a different day and Cherbourg. I had decided to go into a Q5 and there is no mistaking the cabin is a move up from the standard cabin. The fact the bathroom has his and her sinks a shower and a bath tells you all. 4189 is an aft corner balcony so ...
