This was my fourth cruise and my first time on Carnival. I previously have cruised Royal Caribbean and Norwegian but always heard horror stories about Carnival so I avoided it. A friend convinced me to go on one, and it was definitely a good time.
Ship: The ship itself is nice enough. I know it recently underwent a dry dock, but could probably use some renovations. Parts of it just felt old and ...
Compared to reviews from the 2-3 weeks preceding our cruise, our weather was superb. It was chilly the day of boarding in Galveston and the first half of our first day at sea but after that temps were in the 80's until we disembarked again in Galveston. This was January so was not surprised by the temps in Galveston.
Three couples went on the cruise not so much for the ambience and ports but ...
We cruise from Galveston every couple of years because it is easy. Carnival has a good price and we don't care what the itinerary is having been to the places enough times to often not do anything in port. The ship was a nice size, not too big or too small. Embarkation was smooth except that even if you check in early you don't get on the ship before about 12:45 or 1. We checked in at our ...
This was our 6th cruise in the past 7 years and the quality has gone down every year. For example the main evening entertainment was mediocre at best. The comedy shows were okay. The evening meals were pretty nice, the dinner crew were exceptional. House keeping was awesome, we've never been let down by them. The state rooms on the Freedom are starting to show their age. The ship in general is ...
We chose this cruise because it fit in with our trip to Galveston. I suppose that if I had never been on other cruises I wouldn't know how bad it was. The food at the buffet wasn't good and I couldn't believe that they weren't pushing the hand sanitation like other ships. As a matter of fact sometimes you had to go out of your way to find the hand sanitizer. The food at the main dining room was ok ...
We choose this cruise to celebrate birthday's! My son turned 16 on the 16th and my husband and sis-n-law both had birthdays on the 21st! We were very impressed with embarkation process, considering the fog delay. Went very smoothly. We had some choppy waters on that Sunday and again Friday, but nothing too bad. We enjoyed all the entertainment & activities. The food was delicious! The buffet, ...
This was our 14th cruise, most of them with Carnival. We went with the 7 day, Cozumel Roatan and Belize trip. What appealed to me was the 2 full days at sea on the way back. It usually takes me a few days to really relax, and the idea of this sounded great. We make plans, as they say, and God laughs. We were 4 hours late getting out of port because of the fog, (no fault of Carnival), so the ...
Most frustrating was the FOG delay at Galveston. We lost 1.5 sailing days and then were delayed 6 hours disembarking. In these 'modern' times I would have expected the ship and shore to synch up with radar ( perhaps buoys too) and come right in. Silly? I don't know we have Mars rovers we can communicate with, driverless cars, etc.
Once on the beautiful Freedom all seemed good. We had a ...
We chose this cruise because we it was the only time my family and I could coordinate our schedules. I was a little hesitant due to previous reviews I've read about the Freedom, but due to our schedule, it was our only option. Our cruise was delayed 2 days due to fog in Galveston (not Carnival's fault, & they refunded one day to everyone). Once on the ship, the rooms had not been finished- no ...
This was my first time on a Carnival cruise and I had a wonderful time! Most importantly, my best friend, who was celebrating her birthday and her 1st cruise had a blast! I was very pleased with everything from accomodations to food and entertainment. Loved all our ports, Cozumel, Roatan, and Belize. We were even stuck on the ship an extra day due to heavy fog in the Galveston port on ...
