Oasis of the Seas was recommended to us by our daughter who went on the Allure of the Seas in Dec. She gave us a detailed lay of the land. There was so much to do that we only had our bathing suits on once in 7 days and since we've been to the Caribbean many times, we did plan on venturing far, although, the excursions looked like crazy fun. The ports were great, clean, secure, and lots of shops. Central Park is upscale with shopping and restaurants with in a tree and shrub cricket chirping setting where we enjoyed classical music Piano and violin several nights. We had an inside cabin...set your alarm so you don't sleep too long. Our Porter was attentive and kept our room very tidy the room size was large enough. Don't eat too much food or you may need to bring the Tums! A variety of delicious foods. The wait staff were always accommodating and we never felt rushed. We didn't partake in the young peoples entertainment but did enjoyed the Diving and Ice shows and movies under the stars. One show was cancelled but replaced with a hilarious ventriloquist! . This Grandma did the zipline and next year I plan to do the rock climbing wall too! We went for the ship amenities and the ship did not disappoint!!! Read Less

When we were looking for a ship for my whole family we decided on the Oasis of the Seas for all the activities and for the nightly entertainment. I have been on 5 different ship amount 4 cruise lines and this by far was the best one!!! My kids are 10, 8, 6 and they all had an amazing time with the Flow rider, rock climbing, zip-lining, mini golf, ping pong, and the carousel. We also decided to choose this ship because of the family deals. Kids under 12 were free and every third night was free. These deals make it very affordable to take a family trip and to enjoy excursions as well. All the staff were fantastic with the kids. Very personable, and accommodating I have food allergies (Gluten and Dairy) and our waiter Gregory and head waiter Stephan were amazing!!! They went out of their way to make sure the food each night would be prepared in a way that I could have and enjoy. Everything from the starters to dessert were accommodated for me. For people with food allergy's this is HUGE!!!! Our room 11134 Family Oceanview Room was fantastic, lots of room for the 5 of us to move around. Beds were comfortable, however I think I would bring my own pillow next time. Lots of storage for all our clothes to feel a little more like home. The fitness center and running track were amazing!!! Lots of equipment available so I never felt rushed . Loved the running track that it was a large loop to enjoy the view from each side. Read Less

1st time cruiser here, chose this ship, sail date and port because it fit with our itinerary in Orlando. Overall, we had a great time, opted for the balcony stateroom (#8204) which is on Deck 8. Embarkation was smooth, you got your usual lines at check-in but it was pretty painless, spent most of the time waiting for our Uber car stuck trying to get in the passenger drop off area at Port Canaveral. Royal Caribbean should really streamline this drop off and pick up process, cars, buses, vans etc bottleneck at the entry point. About the package my wife and I chose: 1 refreshment package for the week (roughly $80). 2 three night Specialty Restaurant dinner package (roughly $90 each) Bags checked in and arrived in front of our stateroom an hour later after boarding the Oasis, we went to Johnny Rockets and paid $7 a person for burgers, fries and a shakes. Service: For the most part, the staff was very attentive, specially our steward Rodel at #8204. Thank you sir! Charito (head host) at the Main Dining room was awesome, she was very attentive and took care of us when we wanted to sit by ourselves at our own table. All the staff in the main dining room and specialty restaurants (Steakhouse, Izumi, 150 Central Park) we're top notch!!! Dining: Windjammer Buffet - I only went here for breakfast, it was the same menu everyday and the bacon wasn't crispy except for the last day, what gives?! Ports: Labadi, Haiti - pretty chill, didn't do anything but hung out on the beach. Falmouth, Jamaica - opted for the Bob Marley Experience, boarded a van with about 8 other people, took 1.5 hrs to get to Nine Mile, bumpy road, wife got car sick. I am a fan of Bob Marley so it's a must that we go on this trip. Highly recommended for other fans. Includes a lunch at a local Jerk spot, had chicken, pork, rice, it was ite. Cozumel, Mexico - opted for the Twister boat ride and Isla Pasion package, this was great, about $90 each person. You ride a speedboat to a private island north of port, the island was very clean, nice white sands, free activities (water bikes, land bikes, kayaks, tables, free buffet and drinks), do not miss this excursion! Entertainment on the ship: We prebooked our shows but didn't really get to attend since our dinners were at 8 pm. Maybe next time. I would go on another cruise with RCCL but most likely with a newer ship and different ports, I recommend this cruise to anyone. Crowd: Mostly middle aged, families and a few young couples, not too crowded, didn't feel like 6K + cruisers on the ship. Read Less

We didn't choose this cruise our friends did. As we entered the pier to embark, traffic was backed up. We were trying to get to the drop off area. An hour later ( distance 1/4 mile) we finally arrived. The area for commercial vehicles ( buses, shuttles, etc) is in the same area. Directions and people helping direct traffic were the worst I've ever seen. The Royal Caribbean people were arguing with each other. Need I say more? We did find out later that there was a problem with Port Authorities and people wouldn't get off the ship. So we pull up to unload our luggage. I hand our paperwork to RC crew member, they put the wrong numbers on our luggage, luckily my husband caught the mistake. So it has to be done all over again and wrong tags removed. We ended up helping the guy do his job. I'd said by now we aren't impressed. There are people everywhere somehow we found our way out of the masses to check in. Check in was smooth. We were given our room keys and boarding number and told where to go to wait to be called to board. We found our friends. Going on board was a long walk up ramps. Note: don't carry much luggage on. We carried just a pilot case. We walked on board it was beautiful but overwhelming. Crew members everywhere trying to sell beverage packages, dining packages, excursions, etc. We felt that they nickel and dimed us everywhere we turned. Just check out the prices for beverage packages, dining packages and excursions. We needed to make one specialty dining reservations that our travel agent had given us. We chose Chops Steaks. So we got it done there and fast. The Chops restaurant was our favorite. Our waitress, Carmella from Brazil was great. She was very attentive, caring, efficient and used our names when speaking to us. The food is awesome. If you get to choose one restaurant to splurge on chose Chops. Then we also received a free spa treatment from our travel agent so I went to schedule that. There was no lines at the Spa one person in front of me. I scheduled a facial, usually when I have them done on cruise ships they are awesome. Guess what? Not this time. :( We decide to eat at the Doghouse. Another mistake. Hot dog and sausage not even warm. Crew member wasn't friendly or caring at all. So we decide to walk around and get familiar with how this ship is set up. Then at 1:00 pm we could go to our cabin. We were surprised to find 2 bottles of wine from our travel agent and Royal Caribbean. Also, a special they were having that we booked under Eat.Drink.Play. this included a specialty dining for lunch. So we chose Giavionni's Italian restaurant. It was delicious but service was awful and they weren't even busy. We chose to do My Time dining and had scheduled our times before boarding. We also scheduled our nightly entertainment before boarding. Since we had 14 people in our party, our friends made sure that everything was set for seating every one in our group. We were told 2 tables of eight with the same waiter and assistant waiter. Our waiter Krisna and assistant Navin were great. We also became friends with the assistant and MaitreD. They knew we were having some problems with the staff at dining room reservations. For some reason, they couldn't do a line of tables for 14 people but could do 12. This was accomplished except one night we had to change the reservation because the show we wanted to see, Come Fly with Me was canceled. It was canceled the rest of the cruise. :( One morning for breakfast we went at Johnny Rockets early before 9:00 am. Great breakfast, fast and great service. There was a long line when we finished eating. We did the dining room or Solarium Bistro the rest of the days. For lunch one day, we went to Sorrento's for pizza. It was pretty good. The other days, we went to Windjammer, or Park Cafe ( deck 8). We loved the Promenade Cafe, 24 hours coffee shop with coffees, soda, water, specialty coffees, sandwiches, cookies and desserts. There's a Starbucks also. There were some great shopping on the ship sales. Our cabin steward was awesome. We requested an ice bucket every night and it was there. About 4 nights at turn down we had a towel animal greet us. Our room was cleaned spotless every day and every evening. Our cabin overlooked Central Park, every night there was someone playing the piano and/ or violin. Great romantic setting for drinking our wine on our balcony. It was an enjoyable week. But we doubt that we will sail again with Royal Caribbean. Read Less

We returned to Royal Caribbean after a long interlude of 12 years. My husband and I had previously had an outstanding honeymoon on the Mariner of the Seas. This time, we took our 9 year old daughter. While we had a good experience, it did not live up to the first cruise we took. Good points included the Adventure Ocean program which my 9 year old begged to go back to. The ship was absolutely beautiful. The cabin steward Grace was awesome, as she bent over backward to help us out. But we did have a few issues. In the 12 years between the last one and this one, we have gone on 3 other cruises on Carnival. The food was decent on Carnival, but not as good as on the Mariner. When we ate on the Oasis, it was no different than on Carnival. This disappointed us, as we paid more for Royal Caribbean and expected the same level of cuisine as before. Also, in ALL of our other cruises, we had used the room service breakfasts in order to eat fast and get out to our excursions. This time, we ordered three separate times and only got breakfast actually delivered one time. I had previously had one issue on Carnival, but they corrected and gave us complimentary onboard credit. This time, hotel staff did apologize after the first time it was not delivered and gave us a free bottle of wine, but then the last time we ordered it was not delivered. On the website it was recommended that we reserve shows and shore excursions. So my husband did this. On day 1 we reserved Cats. When we went onboard, we were told that Cats is never shown on day 1. We also did First Night Done Right, which gave us the option of dining at one of the specialty restaurants for half price. We were told our reservations would be left in our cabin. They were not. Then we went to ask Guest Services and they did not know what I was talking about. They sent us to the Maitre'd who was trying to solicit reservations. We asked her. She did not know what we were talking about. An hour later we finally got the issue resolved. We chose Chops, the steakhouse, as on our first cruise it was truly outstanding. This one left a lot to be desired. Although the seafood was amazing, the filet mignon was tough and tasteless. If we had truly paid $43 a person to eat there, we would have been furious. It was not worth even the half price that we paid. None of the shows we reserved online transferred over to the ship, for the correct day or time, other than the ice show. The quality of the shows we went to see, the ice, aqua, and the "Come Fly Away" shows were amazing. They were definitely worth the time. I just am not sure what happened with the online reservations. This caused us a lot of anxiety until we realized that they were just letting anyone into the shows, not checking reservations. This also applied to the shore excursions that we booked online. The two we did onboard, the behind the scenes tour and the cupcake class, were either not the same time or day as the online reservation. And we did call the reservations line after we booked online to make sure they went through. They confirmed what was online, but that was not what was available on the cruise. Also, there were shore excursions that were not listed online but were available on the cruise. We would have picked other options if we had known they were available. When we took this information to Guest Services, they were indifferent. They listened and took a few notes and then did nothing to solve the issues. One other thing, on Carnival I had taken a power strip along with me, because we needed more outlets than were provided in the cabin. Royal Caribbean does not allow that. I did not check that before I packed, and that is my fault. However, they confiscated my luggage and did not inform me. Everyone else in my family had theirs delivered by 5, mine was missing. At 8:30, I still did not have my luggage, despite both my cabin steward (Grace) and I running around frantically trying to find it. She directed me to Guest Services again, and they only informed me that I had to go down to security. Not why. So after trying to find security on deck 2 where there are no people around, security finally told me I could not have the power strip. They confiscated it, which was fine, as I got it back on the final day. But when I told them I had not been contacted, they shrugged and said someone had called. But they hadn't left a message, and I spent several hours on the first evening trying to sort this out. This did not match the level of service that I had previously had from RC. In conclusion, we will probably go back to Carnival. They are similar in level of service, but do not charge as much. Read Less

I gained 8 lbs. on this cruise !! We always book our cruises this time of the year because we have found it is one of the cheapest times and no spring breakers !! It is also a slow time for our business. At St.Marrten we went to the airport beach and wow that was really cool ! The jets come in right over the beach very very low !! When we were going there I thought that we might see 1 or maybe 2 but they were coming in a lot. Read Less

We enjoyed many different areas of the ship. The dining rooms are unbelievably beautiful. The shows we're super. There are many restaurants serving everything one could imagine. Shopping on the oasis was also great. I don't think I missed one shop. There were many good sales and deals available every day also. Of course we spent some time in the casinos which we loved. The crew was just the best. They made every day special! There was something to do at all times for everyone's likes. We loved the shows and music, dancing and partying in general. We were with a group of 51 people and a good time was had by all. We enjoyed every minute of our cruise and look forward to our next cruise vacation. Read Less

When we arrived we were in awe! When we got to the room, I laid on the bed and found it most uncomfortable and going down hill toward my head and sunken in the middle. Before the day was over, I had a new mattress! I truly appreciate that! Our Portman Dwight was great and very helpful. Dinner in Silk was always a wonderful experience! Our servers, Kevorn and Natilae were awesome. We kept him running and he seemed happy to serve. I cannot say enough good about the Ship its self! WE LOVED THE OASIS! My husband loved it most because it didn't move much. He gets sea sick easily. We loved the Solarium area and Central Park- just beautiful! Peaceful in those areas even with 5000 people! The 5th floor was fun- the entertainment was great. Actually best entertainment so far on our cruises that we have taken. The work out room, we really liked it as well. We worked out on three different days while cruising. We also ran on the track. That was a nice feature to have on a boat. The aqua theater was amazing! We loved the two diving shows! I enjoyed the ice skating show as well but I must say that I was terrified for the young girl who was swung around on that rink. Her head missed the rink by a fraction. It even caused me to yell out in fear. I really think that, that part should be taken out of the show. Her life really seemed in danger, the guy swinging her upside down was not that smooth in his lifts, so my stomach was in knots for her. I have never seen the play Cats before but the cast was so talented! We also saw the ventriloquist show which was funny. Our son participated in some of the competitions, The Belly Flop and Wall climbing contests. Those were fun to watch. We enjoyed the comedy show, but we really don't like vulgarity or foul language. I liked how some cruises have a clean version at one hour and then the Adult version later. But this ship did not offer it. Maybe Royal Caribbean doesn't do it on any ships, I don't know. Now I have big negative for this ship. We could not get ice cream late from a machine! We always like to walk around the ship before we go to bed and get us a little cone of ice cream. Everywhere that we knew to get it was closed. There may have been some machine open, but we couldn't find it. We even asked several workers and they did not know where we could get some. This negative does not affect our opinion of this amazing Ship though. It's just been our thing to do for the last 3 cruises, LOL! Our group had a lot of fun flow riding and zip lining on this ship. We also played putt putt and ping pong, this ship had something to do and something going on all the time. We have already booked another cruise with Royal Caribbean because we feel that the food and service are better than our 2 cruises that we took with Carnival. Highly recommend this particular ship! This was my first cruise, and I chose this one because of the ship. It's huge and offers a lot of activities. The ship is beautiful - I recommend taking the all-access pass behind-the-scenes tour to learn about how the ship works, from dining services to the bridge. It's worth the $119. The crew works very hard, but they seemed to be under staffed. Buffet dining experiences were chaotic - I recommend doing the dining rooms for breakfast and lunch. In Nassau, I recommend scheduling an excursion, even if you don't like scheduled excursions. The shopping experience in town, which is within walking distance of the ship, is disappointing -- lots of dirty shops filled with tourist junk sold by aggressive sales people. In St. Thomas I recommend taking a taxi and skipping the ship's excursions! Explore on your own, but DO NOT get into a "gypsy cab." We discovered Secret Harbor, a resort on the east end of the island. It's about a 45-minute cab ride, and it's quiet, beautiful, and the staff is amazing. A lot of locals hang out there, which tells you something! Prices for drinks and food are reasonable. In St. Maarten, take a cab to Orient Beach. Not as friendly as St. Thomas, but every bit as beautiful. It is overrun with tourists, but the beach is so big that you will be comfortable. Read Less

We had a great time on our fourth cruise on Royal Caribbean. We had a midship oceanview balcony on deck 7, and the room was quite nice. I would say that it seemed to have less storage than rooms that we had on previous RCI ships. This was our first time on Oasis of the Seas, and there was a lot to do on the ship. Because the ship is so large, it never felt all that crowded, even on sea days, and the Solarium was a wonderful adults only area for lounging, swimming, and relaxing. We loved taking in the Boardwalk, Central Park, and Promenade, and we spent a lot of time taking in the entertainment at the various bars on the ship. We had a five night dining package, as we enjoy the pay restaurants, and we enjoyed getting to sample Chops, Giovanni's Table, 150 Central Park, Sabor, and Izumi for a reduced price. I highly recommend doing the package if the pay restaurants are your thing, but make sure to visit the dining desk as soon as you are on the ship to make your reservations, as ours were not pre-booked when we arrived on the ship. We had three port days: one in Nassau, where we wandered on our own; one in St Thomas, where we did the Turtle Bay Pirate Ship and Snorkel Tour which was a ton of fun; and St. Maarten, where we took in the shops. Our weather was gorgeous, and I would highly recommend cruising at this time of year. Read Less

Still have Fields and Select / First Tea BUT I was really happy to see Bigelow Tea Darjeeling and Earl Grey in a few of the dining areas (Solarium Bistro and Promenade Cafe). Long story short, the service in general was subpar. Arrival at the port was a mess. Traffic was so bad, and it was quite clear a simple fix was there. The people were friendly however. The skycap was great. The car was unloaded quickly and he didn't beat up our bags. Embarkation was painful, even though we had a priority line. The agent was so slow, our travel companions in the regular line finished about 15 minutes before we did, and they had to fill out some paperwork, and all of ours was completely done. We had an owners suite on deck 11, on the hump. The room was clean and the furniture was free of stains and in good condition. We did have a fruit plate and high end water bottle waiting for us. The room had a TON of storage space. We didn't come close to using it all, and we had 4 people. Even though we asked a week ahead of time (email with concierge) our room was not open to the next one and the deck was locked too. No big deal, but that sums up the lackluster service we received much of the cruise. The restaurant service staff was terrific. The bar staff was the same. Our room steward was great too, but it seemed he didn't receive any of our requests and when we asked him directly it was like he had to get permission to do something to help us. We had many more missteps, but this sort of sums it up. Food was 3.5 out of 5 stars. Some meals were great, some awful and most average. We had dinner in the main dining room with our entire traveling party but Coastal Kitchen for most other meals. The ports of call were awesome as usual. We didn't do any RC sponsored excursions, and had a great time on each island. One note about the activities on board. The Quest show says it's not recommended for kids, and other shows say adults only. Quest is MOST CERTAINLY adults only. If we had taken our 13 year old, we would have walked out immediately. They do give a warning, but that's not good enough for most parents. Luckily our teenager loved the Teen deck. She spent a ton of time there meeting new friends. The ship itself is huge, and full of activities. Of course, there is shopping and food. All said, we had a great time, but really expected better service. This is the first time we have ever booked a suite (and saved for a year to pay for it) and felt let down. Our travel companions in regular room said overall service was not on point for anybody in any room, not just the suite perks. Read Less

This was our fourth cruise, all of which have been on RC cruise ships. All previous cruises have been wonderful. Embarkation and disembarkation were fine. Absolutely, no issues. Issues started when we got to our room. In our supposedly clean room, the refrigerator hadn't been cleaned. Leftover food and drink in the cooler left a bad odor in the room. Captain - we have been use to a captain who come on the speaker and talks about how many knots per hours we're going and the depth of the ocean and different ports and what port we will be embarking at the next day etc. The only time I recall hearing the captain on this cruise was the recording at the beginning of the cruise about emergency evacuations. We missed the extra info we usually get. Dining - we ate in windjammer for all meals and the appearance and variety of the food were just not as good as on previous cruises. Windjammer experience was pretty bad all around. Several times I had to wait on drinks to be available at the drink station, there weren't enough drink stations and tables were being cleared off way too slowly. Entertainment - We walked out on Cats during intermission. And we weren't the only ones. In fact, I didn't talk to anyone who hadn't left cats during intermission. The aqua show was either too busy or to slow to be entertaining. Either your eyes could't rest on one thing long enough to gather it in and enjoy it or at other times, like with the gymnast it was just too slow and boring. I didn't see the point in her (the gymnast) at all. The acrobatic show was, boring, also. I did enjoy the comedians and loved, loved, loved the ventriloquist. Our biggest disappointment, though, was the karaoke. Though we don't sing, one of our favorite things to do is to attend the Karaoke. The room for the karaoke was way, way too small. Between 20 to about 40 people were standing each night this was held because the room was so small and there weren't enough chairs in the room. Myself and my husband had to pull chairs from the promenade deck to be able to sit to enjoy the karaoke. We mentioned this to a bartender one night and he just shrugged his shoulders like he didn't understand what we were talking about. I mentioned it at the customer service desk one night and he called the bar that the karaoke was in and they acted just as stupid when he called them. On our previous ships, there was never this issue. Also, karaoke should be judged by judges picked from the audience, not by people clapping. The girl who took second place at the finale only did so because of her 15 loud, loud friends that were there cheering for her and who were so rude that they didn't even cheer a little for anyone else. Specifically, we were disappointed in pretty much all the staff. It was difficult if not impossible to find someone on staff who seemed genuinely friendly and/or interested in their job. It started with the people giving out towels and went up the staff to employees who were handling the music trivia (boring) and karaoke, to Margo the cruise director to the captain. We have seen Margo on previous cruises and she, really, just isn't very funny or entertaining. This down and out attitude pervaded through the rock climbing staff to the water surfing and water boarding to the zip line. Just no smiles. Every body doing a job that they didn't seem to be enjoying. Cleanliness - The public restrooms were not kept as clean as usual and several times I found my tennis shoes sticking to floors where they hadn't been mopped well, I guess. The shore excursions were fine but we missed being offered a chance to do something like bike riding at any of these locations. Also, I know it is mentioned about "saving seats" (that you shouldn't do it) at events but I really with this could be enforced better somehow. My husband and I always arrive early to events to get a good seat. So, finding seating is never really a problem for us but we never fail to see other people who have arrived early saving up to as man as five or six seats This just isn't right. And can't you think of some different things to offer beside Disco Night and Sexiest Man Competition. It's a good thing, this wasn't our first cruise because we would probably never go again if it had been. Read Less

Only cruise with Royal. We have been on every class of ship I think. Didn't like small one like the Majesty. Oasis was huge. We like the class of Independence, Freedom and Liberty. Overall though Royal is our home on the water when we cruise. I would recommend Royal to anyone. It is relaxing. Food is great. The décor was nice. Ship was easy to get around on; never got lost; lol. Room was very quiet; never heard noise from outside. Ate at my time dining for dinner every night. Food was fantastic. Had the best waiter. Going again in 2018 in Feb. Might go again for a short cruise later this year. We go out of Port Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale; very easy to check in and getting off at end of cruise. If you haven't tried Royal; give them a whirl. you will love it and will do it again and again like us. Read Less

Chose the Oasis because of all the choices the ship offers. Two of my favorite places on the ship were Central Park and the Aquatic Theater. The shows were awesome and I liked the fact you could choose which shows and what time you wanted to see them. The ship had many places to enjoy lounging around the pool and you never felt crowded. Embarkation and disembarkation was very easy with very little wait times. Porters were available so it was not difficult dealing with luggage. Enjoyed the balcony over the Boardwalk but next time would get a Central Park View room since it has a sitting nook in the room and it gives a little extra room for sitting. We did the Blackbeard Castle excursion and would like to let anyone know if they are interested in this one you WILL have to walk back to the ship. Definitely read the small print on this excursion. This cruise is impressive, i really recommend it. We were approx 6.5K people on board and there was a space to all of us. No problem with elevators, sits or other things. There were many good activities. The only issue might be for kids. They might need to do more, because the zip line and the flow rider is not for kids younger that 7, so on my opinion they need to work more on that and also to have more people on the astrounats that talk other languages than english. My case is that my daughter just speak spanish and was difficult for her to understand. Regarding shore excursión i choose the one in St. Thomas. Just take in consideration if you are going to took the 5 Star one, do not go with a guy named Andrew. He never explained nothing and he was driving like krazy. He just want it to finish the day. So in St. Thomas i have the basic information and some landscape photos. Read Less

This was our second cruise out of Port Canaveral. Wanted to cruise on one of the larger ships and Oasis of the Seas filled the bill. Also we had never been to Nassau and it was on the itinerary. There were nearly 6000 guests and a crew of some 2500. Ship was clean and well maintained. Our cabin and its bathroom were clean. Both Getting on and off the ship ran pretty smoothly Full Broadway type production of "Cats" musical. Cast was excellent. There were several other entertainment venues including an Aqua show, Ice show, two headliner shows, and comedians. In addition to the regular dining rooms there were three specialty restaurants. Regular dining offered a variety of items nightly. Service in dining room was exceptional. We have always found the food on Royal Caribbean has been top notch. At our three ports of call, Nassau, Bahamas; Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas; and Philipsburg, St. Martin, there were a wide variety of shore excursions available. Read Less

“Royal Caribbean – where the extraordinary happens” In our case it the entire handling of our experience was “extraordinary” bad. As UK residents we booked a “once in a lifetime holiday” with Royal Caribbean on the Oasis of the Seas going the Bahamas, St Thomas and St Martin. We booked shore trips, for each of the 3 shore days, directly with Royal Caribbean prior to sailing, assuming that they would have vetted their partners appropriately and therefore we would be safe. However, on day 2 in St Thomas, we were on the BOSS Underwater Scooter trip and my husband was injured when another passenger jumped into the water before he had surfaced. No one on the tour boat was supervising participants entering the water which is why the incident happened. My husband ended up with a 2 inch scar which was stitched (badly) by the cruise ship doctor. He then spent the rest of the holiday unable to participate in any activities, concussed and in pain. Our holiday was ruined! My husband has been left with a scar with is clearly visible. What did Royal Caribbean do – absolutely nothing! They accept no responsibility, even though we booked through them. When we spoke to customer services on the ship they simply stated “accidents happen”. They offered no compensation or assistance to allow us to undertake our holiday again, even though participants in another shore trip incident, which resulted in no injuries, were offered 25% off their next cruise. We have been on several Royal Caribbean cruises prior to this incident and were Crown and Anchor members, however, never again!! Their lack of customer service is staggering. I guess caveat emptor is just as applicable to booking cruises. Their legal get out was that it was the subcontractors negligence and there is no reciprocal agreement with the US Virgin Islands. In Regard to the rest of our experience. This is one of Royal Caribbean’s largest ships. However the ratio of staff seems considerable lower than their smaller ships. This means that the staff were less pleasant and appeared too busy, at some points even rude. We also found that on other ships there was a shared dining experience where you could share the table at dinner and meet new people. This was not an optio. On this ship so despite it being a massive ship with many more passengers there seemed less opportunity to meet and relate to others. We like to go the casino at night. On other ships there is a minimum bet of $2 on some tables. This ship the minimum limit was $5 that meant out $20 limit was spent within about 20 minutes. So much for an evening’ entertainment. All in all this was the worst cruise we have ever been on and would not use Royal Caribbean again. Do not use Royal Caribbean if looking for a cruise!! Read Less

Primarily we chose this cruise due to the special AAA presentation of the rock and roll shows provided as a package on the Oasis of the Seas. The shows from this presentation, not the headliner shows, were special and were excellent. The entertainers were great and the events held in Sudio B were great, had plenty of seating, great sound and very comfortable. Food on the ship was a disappointment when it came to the main dining room, Windjammer Court or the Solarium Court. Our waiter was new and rather untrained which caused our first dining experience (dinner) to be a disaster. The head waiter intervened and the service improved every day afterwards. The salmon had little of no flavor but the presentation was very good. The prime rib was good but hardly memorable. For breakfast, the Windjammer Court on deck 16 was a zoo with many items not available at times. Coffee, coffee cups, muffins, and at times fruit was unavailable. Staff seemed slow to react and often appeared to not care much about doing anything to fix it. It looked like they were way understaffed to handle the load. The Solarium Court for breakfast was a little better but again understaffed and those who worked there acted like zombies leaving tables in need of clearing. We never used the main dining room for breakfast so I can't comment. For lunch, the main dining room offered the best food and service. The buffet offered great salads as well as other food that WERE kept available at almost all times. The staff seemed much better in this dining room. Beverage prices are ridiculous, maybe even beyond ridiculous. For example, a beer will set you back $7.25 plus 18% gratuity, or about $9, a glass of wine no less than $14, a cocktail around $15 (EACH). This either sobers you up pretty quickly or you buy their drink package at a cost of $479 per person for the 7 day cruise. If you want a bottle of wine, expect to pay about 4 to 5 times what it would cost you in a store plus the 18% gratuity. Sodas are also extra as are specialty coffees, but even with the drink package you will pay extra for the Starbucks coffees. Specialty dining: This is where they really shine. Giovanni"s was incredibly good, better than that even. Not only was the service exceptional, but the food preparation and presentation out of this world. 150 Central Park was likewise excellent in every way. However, Giovanni's will set you back $30 per person, and 150 Central Park will set you back $45 per person (plus gratuity). There are many other dining areas, some are extra and some are included with your cruise. Sorentos for pizza and drinks was excellent. Many people were very happy with Johnny Rockets as well. Park Place Cafe was also excellent. Special mention for the very funny and friendly gentleman making the specialty coffees in that cafe, and as he said, he made the best mocha coffee on the ship. Our cabin was a balcony type on the 10th deck, and it was cramped. The bathroom is quite small and anyone with any girth will find the shower a challenge. The bathroom sink is up against the mirror so when brushing your teeth, expect to find your head hitting the mirror frequently. Also the cabin has very little storage. On the plus side, the bed was very comfortable and our cabin stewart was excellent in accommodating our needs. The toilet was tempermental, and at times needed a little coaxing to get it to flush. When we left on Sunday, most of the toilets on the forward part of the ship weren't working which caused some distress for both guests as well as maintenance staff. The Opal theater and Studio B are excellent for shows and other events. Both are quite large and have excellent seating with very good viewing regardless of which seat. The acoustics are excellent and don't seem to overwhelm those in front in order to project to the rear. All seats are very comfortable. This may be the best part of the ship. The Aqua Theater is spectacular with their water show presentation. The performers were very very good and the special effects were very good. We missed the ice skating show, Frozen in Time, but we heard from those who did see it and it got outstanding reviews. Entertainment on this ship was definitely up to par. This is a huge ship and it is full of people. I head others saying you don't feel cramped, but I thought otherwise. There were a lot of people everywhere; dining, events, shopping, drinking, you name it, you were surround by hundreds of people. Too many for me. I prefer a smaller ship with less people. However, you give up many venues offered on the bigger ships. Bars are good but it never seemed there were enough of them to handle the number of passengers. Often times we would meet to have a drink before dinner. We often found the Schooner bar to be full with many people sitting there but not drinking, as if using it as a place to rest. We used the Champagne bar often as well as some of the other venus along the Promenade. Getting on and off the ship is slow and tedious. This ship can handle up to 6,700 passengers and that slows up the process. The porters at the port seemed overwhelmed by the workload. Upon leaving the ship, we were lucky to find a good porter who shortened our departure by a good bit. I recommend using a porter rather than dragging around you luggage unless you enjoy spending additional time waiting to talk to the customs agent. Read Less

We chose the Oasis of the Seas by Royal Caribbean because a group with which we are affiliated decided to have a group event on this ship at this time. The organizers of the event have previously had wonderful experiences on the ship. We greatly enjoyed the multiple variations of events and activities such as karaoke, dance lessons, water sports, entertainment and the food was out of this world with outstanding service. We found that our waiters for our evening meals every day went the extra mile to provide every food that we wanted or needed. One of the participants at our table had severe dietary restrictions and the chef made delicious meals just for him every day. Our cruise activities director was an energetic, friendly and fun! We had just one experience that we thought was less than ideal but it had nothing to do with the ship! Our ship chose to have the musical CATS as the main theater entertainment and unfortunately, the musical itself did not suit itself to the population of the ship as it was a series of musical vignettes, not telling a story and the music, with the exception of one song, was not familiar to the audiences. Many audience members exited the play at intermission. The actors were outstanding in their skills but the musical was not one we would ever choose to see. We never found any shortage of food in the Windjammer Marketplace and found that the quality of food there was outstanding and plentiful. We did not purchase a soda beverage package and we found that we did not miss it at all as there was delicious lemonade, strawberry kiwi water and Iced tea at every meal. We do not drink alcohol so that the prices of drinks was not an issue for us. The fitness center was also outstanding. There was more than adequate number of treadmills, bicycles and elliptical machines. I never had to wait to use one of these machines. The walking track on deck five was enjoyable and you could pause now and then to gaze at the beautiful scenery and water. We found that the location of our cabin on Deck 8 enabled us to walk through the beautiful lush greenery of Central Park each day on our way to activities and meals and we so enjoyed this. It was never crowded and we could sit along the trees and flowers and see the open sky above us. Read Less

This ship is so much fun and because of amazing attention to detail and design actually has a more intimate feeling than smaller ships even though the ship is gigantic. Each neighborhood has much to do and to see. This makes the ship a lot of fun to just explore and walk around and enjoy. The crew is super friendly and goes above and beyond. The cruise line needs to address serious issues of consistency!! As Diamond Plus, no priority line for Guest Relations when most other ships do. Then a fee of $35 PER DAY to use the sauna when other ships are complimentary, crazy rip off! And poor communications from Miami delivered to guests like telephone instructions to contact Johnny Rockets for a reservations when they only take walk ins, and complimentary cover charge for up to 4 with no explanation that guests MUST be in the same stateroom...just ignorant and a waste of my time which is NOT appreciated when I am on vacation and trying to relax! Great times with great music. The Rocky and The Rollers groups were excellent, Freddy Cannon, Gary Lewis, Gary Puckett, The Crystals, The Tokens, The Elegants, Johnny Tillison, Lennie Welsh, The Dovells, The Crests,The Buckinghams lead singer et all GREAT ENTERTAINMENT, congratulations to Rocky and AAA. Bathroom in our balcony room was SMALL. Bed and closet are side by side ...very close. Waitors and room steward did well and were quite helpful. Meal variety not extensive in the Main Dining Room but the extra cost specialty restaurants were exceptional. Drink prices were excessively high..$9.00 for a beer and $14.00 for a mixed drink either slowed you down or cost as much as another person on the cruise. The drink package was $56/day which said you had to have seven beers to break even or a least five drinks per day. We all slowed down on our consumption. The crew was ill as Cats was cancelled due to four cast members being unable to persform. What the flu like virus was, it spread to our group and we lost four people for three days plus sleeping the cruise away. Upon return to port there were also a number of people ill. Total was: flu 12 and 8 marginally ill. Maybe the ship could/should have done something. Would we come again? Yes but we'd be sure to have a flu shot and some meds to combat any medical issues.
