Where do i begin. As we planned for the holidays for a 6 room trip with the family, we were pretty excited. Since day 1 nothing went as planned. We were all supposed to have anytime dining and they checked us in different times and didn't sit us at the dinner table together as a family. Secondly, one of our rooms was a complete disaster. The fire hydrant went off all over our bed, so instead of staying on the island we had to stay in our room to wait for crew to come fix it. They were little concerned about the inconvenience and the manager only cared to know "how many pieces of clothing was sprayed and to let him know tomorrow when he came back". He did not ever come back. After that, our bathroom toilet decided to overflow when we were not in the room and went all over our personal belongings in the bathroom. Not a single apology and when we finally decided to complain, they said they were "working on issues and to not flush anything but toilet paper". Basically implying we flushed something down the toilet? That was another day wasted trying to get our room situated. As a family, we decided to do shore excursions through caribbean. Particularly, snorkeling where we booked a "pirate ship" where a treasure hunt and turtles in water were promised as apart of the excursion. Not only was there not pirate ship, we were told there hasn't been anything like that in the water and we would not see any turtles at this time. Why would they sell us a package for that? So we thought, ok we wont do that excursion and get a refund as the represented promised they would do for inconvenience. So we went to guest services, where they did not refund the entire purchase but a measling $7 per ticket. The excursion was $70 a piece and we had 11 people for labadee snorkling. How is that acceptable? We also booked snorkling on st. Thomas in which they prompted us to the location or we would miss it. The excursion then advised us to wait patiently, 2 hours later our grandfather passes out and has a heat stroke. They promised we would have beverages and on the boat in less than 10 minutes. After we got our grandfather back to the boat, they advised us they werent taking us to island and little to no fish were even in the waters since the hurricane irma. Again, how is that acceptable practice to sell excursions that they know they aren't providing? Thats called false advertisement. We wouldnt have cared if they refunded us the full amount for 11 people on both excursions. They just refunded 1 and $7 dollars off $70 per person on the other after being promised they would take it off. basically robbed us of $693 dollars while causing a heat stroke to a grandfather. in all of my years as a business owner and working in federal government, i have never see a cruise liner not fix a ugly situation like this. Between all of us, we have completed well over 100 cruises and may never return to royalcaribbean. Only positive, was dinner staff. Even some of the shows were cancelled due to malfunctions. Incredible! Lastly, when they came and santizied our bathroom, my wife had a chemical reaction to chemicals used and not properly removed!! Read Less

Wasn't really expecting this quality from Royal Caribbean. Poor stateroom (Balcony), worn off carpets, smelly and musty, worn out. Stateroom is small, poor layout (my small 7 & 9 year couldn't fit in the pull out bed). Balcony was not cleaned, poor ship layout, all of the shows were poor quality except aqua. everything looks like you have to pay and felt like we were in a shopping mall with deals here and there, buy this buy that...we could get that in a mall, didn't felt like a vacation! staff in main dining room were exceptional, will recommend if people are going in Oasis of seas. Labadee felt like a trap with everything you have to pay for any activities, would not recommend to anyone. felt more like a summer office picnic in a park where you have to pay for it! food outside of main dinning were so so and activities were average. rock climbing was good but apart from that very poor swimming pool and its layout. Port of Canaveral allowed us to drive our family easily, Ship itself. Would return due to quality of entertainment. Staff have a notably positive attitude, and seem genuinely interested in providing us a great time. All ages were aboard this holiday cruise (17 Dec to 24 Dec) and families with disabled folk all managing well. Kids seemed to be having a blast - at all ages. Extraordinarily diverse guests from all over USA, Scotland, Brazil, Thailand, etc. We dined without an upcharge (treating four grown kids) but enjoyed the array of options including room service, dining room, buffets, pizza at all hours, solarium. Hot tubs never over-crowded. Floors always kept clean and clear. Massive ship had minimal motion of the ocean - enough though to wonder how ice skaters and stage dancers could land their spins and flips! I was fascinated with the quality of musical talent in the club shows, and would look forward to that facet of my next cruise. Read Less

I am a loyal (or was) RCI cruiser, but was shocked to find that my long time status as a Diamond Plus C&A member was downgraded on this cruise. People rarely like it when expected loyalty rewards are taken away with or without prior notice, and I am no different. So I say “beware Diamond Plus “: 1. You will no longer have access to all lounges but will now be restricted to only one. 2. You will no longer have priority reserve seating at theatres and special performances. 3. You will no longer have access to all dining venues. 4. Beach privileges at Labadee are restricted to the common areas, former private beach access and cabanas are now off limits. I booked the Chef’s Table experience again as I always enjoy that, but was late for the venue because it was staged in a lounge that Diamond Plus is now denied access to. I could not get in! If you have enjoyed your well earned C&A loyalty perks in the past, just know that those perks appear to be disappearing. Read Less

We sailed on Oasis of the Sea on Dec 17, 2017 to Eastern Caribean. We were very disappointed. The air conditioner did not work in our stateroom and we were given a fan by our stateroom attendant, he was really nice. We were on floor 12, the view was awesome. I found an insect/bug in my food plate at windjammer, when i informed the person in charge, he said "I cannot do anything. Sorry!" Picture is attached with this review. The food is very mediocre. Frozen in Time was good. Cats is the worst show I have ever seen in my life, most of the people left the Opal Theatre in less than 30 minutes. There were technical issues for Aqua show and all slots got automatically cancelled. However they performed on the last sea day during noon when it was quite sunny and we could not enjoy it. Time during port of calls is so short that we could not see the ports that well. We will never sail RC. Read Less

Worst cruise ever. Oasis cannot cope with this amount of passengers. Have read other reviews saying this and it's totally true. Have taken oasis twice. First time was ill with norovirus and projectile vomiting. This time, took Christmas cruise and fell ill again with flu virus. So many bad points: - RC did nothing special for Christmas - didn't even feel like Christmas the whole of the cruise. You would think for the amount of money they charge, they could have put a little thought and effort into planning something special. - saw a waitress sneeze into her hand and carry on serving drinks in windjammer on a previous oasis cruise. Don't see the point of passengers being told to washie-washie all the time when they don't train staff properly - overpowering smell of urine in every public bathroom i went to - they make you pay $70 for a lousy cup to get water only out of the drinks machine. But i saw people putting a regular glass under there to get drinks. Possibly about 10 drinks machines i saw in total onboard, at least a third of which were permanently broken, to serve 6000 passengers! Should be a couple on each deck. - Food in main dining room sucked. Went there on Christmas day - the driest dinner i have ever eaten. I could have done way better than that. Food in windjammer didn't fare much better in terms of variety. By middle of cruise, got quite boring - Lines for everything - If you don't book your shows before the cruise, forget it - The senior doc on this cruise told me to go ahead and infect the rest of the ship, when she tried to charge me $150 just for consultation for my sore throat and i refused to pay. Yeah, i guess that statement meant more money for her. I should have just told her which antibiotic i needed Overall, wish i had not wasted my money. RC's greed is really showing. Have been cruising with them for a while. After a 2-year gap, saw how much their service has gone downhill. Things have changed for their benefit, not for the passengers. Read Less

RC has destroyed their brand with the massive staff reductions. The dinning room service has taken such a step down there is no way I would ever cruise on RC again. Employees seem totally worked to death and overwhelmed with any special requests. Employees I talked to have had a day off in years. Such a total shame as I have had so much fun cruising in the past. I brought my concerns up with many of my follow passengers and my views were the consensus of what I heard from other people. The specialty restaurants were ok. Issues in the dinning room included drink service. With the staff reductions drink service was impossible for the staff to deal with. The bread person has been eliminated which we really missed as it was someone who could deal with requests. Cruising with RC is like flying with Value Jet in Europe. The Corporation is totally focused on profits and has clearly lost focus on what makes cruising fun. This is a great strategy if you are a PE firm trying to maximize profits for a few years but in the long run RC is going to end up like the Craftsman tool brand. Something we have found memoirs of but something I would never buy today. One of the saddest experiences of a once great business that has seen its prime. If you love flying Value Jet by all means cruise with RC. Read Less

Selected by a friend who planned the group travel for the group of friends with whom I traveled. Oasis of the Seas needs an overhaul-getting old and shows wear. The food wasn’t anything spectacular! I Had to ask for water refills at dinner frequently and a black napkin multiple times whenever I had dark evening dress on. They looked at me as though they couldn’t figure why I was asking for a black napkin! All fish ordered for dinner was extremely dry, to the point I choked on the Ahi Tuna and dry couscous - thought I was going to need the Heimlich performed! The coconut rolls are the vest thing you have but for some Eason are kept as a big secret. We only learned of them from friends seated at another table and were told they have to be soeciall6 requested the night before! Why? Our waiter did ‘find’ some. As I say they’re the best things you serve but are kept a big hush hush secret! I don’t get it! Shrimp cocktail rubbery and doesn’t taste fresh. Lamb is good and rock shrimp good. Read Less

We are long standing Royal Caribbean cruisers (17 years) with Diamond Status... soon to be Diamond Pus... My wife became disabled last year and this cruise proved to be the WORST experience we have ever seen since she became disabled. There was no evidence of "family handicapped restrooms," which required us to return all the way to our cabin if my wife needed a restroom. On a ship almost four football fields long, this can be a long walk to the restroom! The passageways were narrow during embarkation and debarkation we virtually had to roll over other people's luggage and the staff did little to help us. Only the officers we saw took any action to assist. I chaulk this up to training and lack of supervision! The ship was so crowded, people in wheelchairs and/or scooters found it difficult to get in/off elevators without other passengers glaring at them for holding them up. Moving around in the dining rooms was like trying to negotiate a maze. The crew/staff seemed untrained to handle these situations. Unlike older class ships where their were entrances on multi-decks, and people in wheel chairs might find space closer to the stages, the only way to view a show in any of the theaters on the Oasis was from the very back and top of the theater. To many this is known as the "nosebleed" section. Even then, many times THESE areas were taken up by NON-Handicapped passengers and the staff would do nothing to fix this. Being told to come earlier is not an acceptable answer, as any handicapped person knows, we move slower in crowded situations such a 6,000-passenger ship. I wonder if Royal Caribbean ships pass the guidelines for American's with Disabilities Act.. or being an international Company, they are not required? At any rate. this was a HORRIBLE experience. The cruise line would not permit my nurse to accompany me into the diamond club lounge even though we shared an expensive owners suite cabin. I am handicapped and use a wheelchair. I feel that I have been denied privledges that I deserve and have earned. My nurse has never cruised before and was denied access. My wheelchair requires a pusher and is not solo operated. I booked my owners suite solely for it closeness to the diamond club lounge. I chose not to leave the ship for shore activities as it would be too big a hassle with the wheelchair. I am also 76 and my zip line days are behind me. I enjoyed the spacious balcony and the fresh air. I am very disappointed in RCI for their lack of concern for disabled persons. The Oasis should be “ bigger” on these issues ! It would have been so simple to fix this oversight. Read Less

it was rated top cruise for past 4 years. strongly disagree it was our first one with Royal and probably the last. dining room experience was terrible way too long for service the only good thing that the food was FREE, it was not a good quality food and unlike other cruises similar menu almost every day. Our first night our balcony door was broken we couldn't fall asleep till 4AM, there was no sorry to us or any compensation (door was fixed following morning). it is definitely a beautiful ship but I think way understaffed. our kids were looking forward to towel animals but unfortunately only found them 3 times. out sheets were stained with oil or sunscreen almost from day 1 and never changed. no mat to unload your luggage. no complimentary water couldn't hear any announcement from our room. entertainment was excellent ice ring and aqua theatre very unique. seems like there was a lot of stuff that they want yo to pay separate for (I guess someone got to pay for that ship).pictures quality horrible, our first cruise that we didn't take a single picture home. I chose this ship because of its newness. It is a beautiful ship but I feel the common spaces can not accommodate the amount of people the ship holds. The shows require a reserved time that may not fit with your personal schedule and we went during our reserved time and there were no seats available for me and my family so we had to stand through a 45 minute show! Many specialty restaurants throughout the ship that costs about 45-50 dollars or more per person! Johnny Rockets was 11 dollars per meal, wasn't that great either. Interaction with the staff felt rehearsed and not genuine. My children went to the kids club and there was no one there to help so they did not participate. Buffet food had no flavor or bad flavor!. The selections seemed to cater to the staffs palate then to the cruisers palate. I am all for trying new things but every meal every day??? There were too many negative things throughout this 8 day cruise to list...I will not choose Royal Caribbean cruise line ever again! Read Less

I feel like Royal Caribbean is more about taking your money than offering you a good experience. We paid for the extra dining package, yet at every specialty restaurant we went to we were charged EXTRA for certain items (like steak or lobster, or any 'specialty' items on the menu). We also paid for gratuity in advance, yet on every bill we were charged an EXTRA 18% automatically for gratuity!! The dining package is a joke! Also, the regular dining room closes early, so if you get back on the ship later in the day from excursions and want to see a show, you won't get dinner! Unless, of course, you pay additional for room service! The pools all close at 10 p.m. Sorry you're on vacation, you can't swim or relax. There is no where to eat on the ship past 9 p.m. unless you order room service (for a charge), or you want soggy pizza. Royal Caribbean loves your money, not you! The good points were: The ship is beautiful and very clean. Our gentleman who took care of our room was very kind and friendly. The ship is huge so the chances of getting sea sick are smaller. Here's a hint: You don't have to pay for any excursions, on the island of Labadee there's plenty to do other than paying additionally for over priced, 2-hour excursions! Also, if you can book a private resort like the Hyatt Zilara for the day (in Montego Bay) it's a MUCH better deal! And very beautiful with free drinks and fabulous, free food! Read Less

This is by far the worst cruise ship in Royal Caribbean's fleet. The food was horrible, the guest services staff needs a refresher course in the true meaning of customer service. There were only 3 soda dispensers on the ship to service 4000 guests, needless to say that was truly a rip off. The staff were constantly bugging you for up sells. Labadee Haiti, the market place the shops were so aggressive, it was scary. Our toilets backed up 9 times and the cruise staff was only interested in who we reported the issues to and not correcting the problem. The security staff onboard the ship are a joke, they are not there to protect you they are there to protect the ship's reputation. The cruise ship needs to spend more time on St Maarten, they really need our help and it is still so devastated from the hurricanes. Just not enough to do for 2 1/2 days of continuous cruising at sea. Read Less

I was going to give them a three rating, but I'm writing this for people like me who stat with the worst and work their way up. Overall this was an average cruise. Being on one of the world's largest cruise ships gave it some novelty that we had to try once. It didn't take long to realize that a ship with 5000 passengers on a ship geared towards families with children would make for some pretty impatient cruise staff. It's kind of like a trip to Disney... any illusion that you are in a land of make believe is ruined by the roar of the talking crowd, standing in lines, children running around. The staff on the Oasis of the Seas is so overwhelmed with the number guests that they are forced to find a balance between fulfilling your fantasies of what a cruise should be and the harsh reality of dealing with passenger needs. This is definitely not an elegant experience. It's more of a technical "going through the motions" kind of experience. Kind of like a fake pyramid in Las Vegas.... technically, by definition it's a pyramid, but not what one thinks. Let me relay a few experiences: 1. The lowest main dining room on the ship is on the 3rd deck, apparently above a mechanical room. The low rumble vibration was causing my ears to vibrate making the whole experience painful. In addition, our assigned table was in a very high traffic region of the restaurant, so waiters were kicking our chairs every five minutes throughout the meal. On our third day, we went to Silk, on the 5th deck to see if we could possible sit there to enjoy our meal. However, as I approached the Maitre d' to ask, he ignored me for roughly 30 seconds while he talked to another member of his staff. Finally, he breathed an audible sigh and said, "Can I help you?" as if he was annoyed. The second he heard me say "my time dining" he interrupted my sentence to tell me to go back downstairs. A couple of days later, I asked guest services if they could assign me to a different dining room due to the vibration under our table in the American Icon. She very politely told me that all I have to do is speak to the Maitre d' in Silk and he will seat me. So back we went to speak again to the Maitre d' of Silk. This time he was clearly offended. "Oh well, you spoke to guess services, you don't need my help then!", he said. I was shocked. I told him that I am having a problem with the vibrations coming from the "basement" and I can't enjoy my meal down there. He said, "Sure, it's a multi-million dollar restaurant located over a basement!" I found myself kowtowing to calm him down. 2. During a meal at Chops Grille, we were given a table right next to the kitchen. Again, the highest traffic area of the restaurant. During that "experience" we were treated to an argument between two male waiters who accidentally bumped into each other and decided to throw decorum out the door and argue in front of us. 3. My wife has celiac disease and requires a gluten free diet. We asked the person in charge for a gluten free pizza. He turned away, then turned back to ask what kind of pizza we wanted. "California" I said after checking the options. "It's not possible" he replied. "We only have pepperoni", he added as if to make it obvious that our request was annoying to him. "You asked me what kind we wanted?", I said. The person behind us agreed that he was rude and could have just said, "We only have pepperoni", instead of offering a choice. 4. We finally got into Silk for a meal. Same food as down below, but a different atmosphere. The couple at the table next to us were complaining about Chops Grille, so my wife told them about our experience. Turns out, they got a table in the same area as we did and had the same experience with irritable wait staff. I could go on, but you get the point. So like i said, if you haven't been on a really big ship before, you have to do it at least once to get that under your belt. But if you are looking for a more traditional elegant experience where you are pampered like a vip... forget about it on Oasis of the Seas. As far as excursions go, one standout was our trip to Green Grotto and Dunns River Falls. The guide devoted a lot of time telling us to not spend money at the shop at Green Grotto or on the vendors at Dunn's River falls. She told us that we did not need to buy water shoes at any stop because they would be made available before we arrived at the falls. She also told us not to feel bad about not tipping the locals. What she should have said was... 'We will be pulling over into a random dirty lot along the way so that you can buy water shoes out of the back of a parked car from my friends, Also, please save your tips for me and the driver. The driver and her actually chased away our guide at Dunns River Falls for coming to see if anyone wanted to tip him for his service. Read Less

This was our first RC cruise but have cruised previously on other ships. We were so exited about this ship. However it was the worst cruise and vacation we have ever been on. The food was horrible at EVERY venue. And mind you we are not picky eaters. The steak was spongy, chicken raw. At the buffet the food looked and tasted like it had been sitting out for days and reheated. Main dining took forever to get food the first night and it was horrible. The main dining menu pretty much stayed the same with the exception of one or time items. We complained to the wait staff and asked if there were any other restaurant we were missing to just get some decent, edible food. We even tried room service one time which is NOT free. They charge a $7.95 room delivery fee PLUS 18% gratuity and it was still horrible. We had a pasta station one night in the buffet and were in line for food as the kitchen staff brought out dirty pans for the staff to cook the pasta in right in front of us. And the staff, they were very unhelpful and acted like they couldn't wait to get off the ship too. According to the staff the ship was at full capacity and you definitely felt it with the long lines for everything. The drink packages are so expensive and the drink machines are spotty at best. There are two located on 5th deck by pizza and one of them was done the entire week! One in the arcaded stayed empty of the most popular drinks and the ones in windjammer are almost always out of ice. You can ask at the bars for coke, diet coke and sprite but they act like it is an insult to full up your cup there. The cabins were expected size but the beds were extremely uncomfortable. Oh, and they do clean your balcony one while your on board and they must use bleach because my hubby was on the balcony and some dripped down from the upper deck and bleached out spots on his jeans! Lines for everything on board were super long! Make sure you read your cruise compass very carefully for instruction as ship announcements are not made on port days when it comes to getting off the ship. And also be careful with times for actives as there were a few mistakes on our cruise compass on times as well. Elevators are super slow and everyone tries to cram in at the same time - your better off taking the staff (really nothing RC can control on this). Its said when you spend sooo much money for a vacation and it is a horrible experience. I reached out to Royal today as we just got off the ship yesterday but was basically told "sorry, should have complained more on board the ship" Really I should have waited in line for hours while already tired and hungry?? I would not recommend a RC ship to anyone at this point which is really said considering they have such a large fleet. Read Less

My first and LAST cruise! My kids left bawling from kids area pleading not to be sent there again after first visit. Staff actually put my son in a “time out” for talking too much!! We talked to management and they went a second time, maybe first experience was too traumatic but they were not excited about anything they had to offer and felt more like abandonment to them on a vacation than fun. Room was nice but do NOT choose sky class suites. You will pay top dollar and be treated like basic room. Might as well lower your standards and expect lines like the cheapest tickets because they only cater to diamond class. Sky class while several thousand dollars more expensive, does NOT get you better service! The personal “concierge service” that came with sky class was two people who couldn’t care less about our kids or the problems we incurred on this trip. I've cruised a lot. This is my second time with Royal and I will never cruise with them again. The service, staff, and overcrowded ship really ruined my vacation. Royal nickel and dimes you to death and doesn't allow a day to go by without trying to sell you EVERYTHING under the sun. I just stepped off the cruise boat yesterday and feel like I should course correct review I've read on here. A few highlights for those considering this ship: MYTH: For every reviewer who claims that it's hard to notice you are sailing with 6,000 other people because of how large the ship is are LYING! You cannot get onto an elevator without having to fight your way on. It was exhausting. Every pool, every restaurant, every inch of that ship is filled with people. Hands down the most unenjoyable part of this "vacation." THE GOOD: - the speciality restaurants, particularly 150 and Chopped, were very good and relaxing. These two nights were the only enjoyable dining experiences I had on the ship. The food at the Italian restaurant wasn't as good but the atmosphere wasn't as enjoyable. - Though my five year old only visited the kid club twice, he really enjoyed it. And the staff was very nice and fun. The kids area was divided by age and there seemed like there was plenty for kids of all ages to do. - The rock climbing, zip lining and surfing were good for older kids (my 5 year couldn't take part in any of those activities) but others seemed like they enjoyed it despite LONG lines. The shows were enjoyable but I didn't go on this cruise for a show. THE BAD: - The poor staff. It's very difficult to work on a cruise ship but this staff seemed over worked and miserable. It was noticeable and uncomfortable to be around. From seeing the employees fighting, falling (because they are running around trying to help 6,500 cruisers) to simply not being friendly.... while it's not their fault that they are overworked, it was noticeable and really took away from vacation, particularly in the dining room. - I get it. There are a lot of people. But nothing seemed to be easy on this ship, even down to receiving my luggage. It was never delivered to us on the first night. So I missed my dinner reservations to go hunt it down. First I went down the the 2nd floor and their answer was "we don't know. Just keep waiting." Around 9pm, it still had not come. So I began walking up and down the (long) hallways to find it. I finally found it on the other side of the ship. When I spoke to customer service, they said I probably labeled it incorrectly. I checked three times. I had not. - The pools. If you can find a seat, be prepared to be blown away and stepped over! The kids area is legit chaotic. The lifeguards are on it but I witnessed multiple fights between parents, kids running and acting CRAZY. There should be an age limit on the kid pool. THE UGLY: - Be prepared. Royal is out for your money. I mean, what company isn't. But it really was a core contributor to this being the worst vacation I've even been on. They were relentless about trying to sell more cruises. I went to the spa - to remove my gel manicure, they wouldn't wrap my nails. That was an additional charge. I paid $200 for a massage. They wouldn't use anything other than medium pressure. Because THAT would be an extra charge. And while I was there, they would NOT stop trying to sell me stuff. The arcade... a majority of games were $1.45 PER GAME. And most of the time, you would scan your card and they game wouldn't work, but they sure as hell would take your money. It is nonstop bombardment with trying to get more of your money. As I mentioned above, the speciality restaurants were great but I HAD to spend the extra $90 to get away from the dining room chaos. The dining room should be where you go to enjoy a nice dinner. I already paid $2,600 for an ocean view. Why do I have to pay more for what should be basic?! - The one factor not in control of the cruise line is the people and their poor behavior. This comes with having 6k on one ship. But man oh man, get ready to see the worst of human kind on this boat. Incredible rude people. It was not just me who noticed either. Multiple people would make comments about the rudeness, even with simple acts like getting on and off of elevators. All in, I spent $2,600 (without airfare).... and it was hands down the most unenjoyable vacation. Not for families. I may have enjoyed it as a single person on spring break when I was drunk and didn't care about service or an enjoyable experience, but nope. I should have cruised with Disney or Princess! Read Less

As a frequent cruiser Royal disappointed... The online check in was a difficult process requiring phone calls and my time to fix... on board the staff did not go out of their way like other cruise lines do.. the food was ok and any special requests were a "no ".Trying ot obtain orders or water bottles which is complimentary on other cruise lines was a process .,, Finally the unauthorized mistaken charges that appeared days later and required my time to have fixed were done with no apology or concern from the cruise line. Never again.. the ship may be nice and large with all the bells and whistles but buyer beware.. the experience is lackluster, I spent time looking for my attendant ...was never found ..,,needed several items and my choice was waiting on a long guest service line instead? I hope the crew is aware of this review in order to realize the customer experience is vital to a patron enjoying their hard earned money aboard. I will not however chance so much money on it again and will travel with Carnival who does provide top notch customer service over and over again. Read Less

e sailed on the Oasis of the Seas July 22nd, 2018... It was great if you love waiting in lines because they were everywhere. RC is trying to pack as many people as they can on a boat bc it's all about money and not the customer's experience. First the lost all our show reservations leaving us to wait in stand by lines. Their response- we shouldn't have booked the shows so early, we should've waited until a couple days before the cruise. Next, the Aquatheater was broke down the 5/7 days so they just showed fail videos the whole week. Then, the main Opal Theater broke down Wednesday leaving just random fill in shows the weren't worth sitting through ( we even tried). The main headline shows-Cats and Come Fly with Me were canceled. Their response- it's unfortunate but there's other entertainment you can do instead. The ice skating show was good but you couldn't ice skate unless you wanted to show up an hour early and, you guessed it, wait in line. We tried... and failed 2 mornings in a row. Even the Wind Jammer, Sorrentos had lines every morning and evening. With the 2 main show venues down, Royal Caribbean set a record for how many people you can stuff in 3 tiny pools... In sum, for $7000 for the week, we got to eat a bunch of pizza, stand in line after line, hear the same jokes from every other RC cruise, have the two main theaters break down the majority of the time after they lost all our prebooked reservations. When we spoke to customer service- they responded with sorry, nothing we can do. We loved RC and have been loyal customers until now. Save your money and cruise with Norwegian, Carnival or Princess. Their boats may not hold 5400 passengers but you will not be over crowded and hearded like cattle, and if they drop the ball, they will take care of the customer. Read Less

The cruise was planned as a family cruise celebrating my granddaughter’s HS graduation. There were 18 in our group ages 12 to 77. Embarkation/debarkation was very smooth. Dining: Of course, rooms were not ready so 6,000 people were crowded around the open dining establishments which some felt was their place to sit and wait for their rooms. Speaking of dining, this was the best part of the whole cruise - food was excellent and the waiters were AWESOME! Cabins: Moving on to the cabins, once open. They were all set up with king beds even with father/son and grandmother/granddaughter situations. Nowhere on preregistering/planning is there a question of how beds should be set up. Also, the design of the rooms does not allow for optimal use to access the balcony. I personally split our beds so one could walk straight through from entrance to the balcony. My cabin steward was not happy and told me it couldn’t be set up that way. I asked why not? I don’t need a reading lamp. I need space. Room instantly appeared larger. Once beds were separated my way, the trashy floor was visible. Also, towels were at a premium. One day we had just one clean towel and another day just one wash cloth. Entertainment: All shows I had reservations for were canceled. Spoke with Guest Services prior to debarkation about compensation for no entertainment. Was told to talk to Corporate Guest Services. Upper management decided nothing was was warranted. Activities: My granddaughter and I both love trivia games so since entertainment events were canceled, we attended as many as we could. Early in the week, our online Cruise Compass advertised an ABBA trivia game - it was replaced be a general trivia game. I think probably because the activities guy “Sondro (? sp)”, wanted to sing his favorite song AGAIN. The tune sounded like the THE GIRL FROM IPANEMA. He would play short clips of most songs but I gotta that song all the way through in his native tongue and he’s not very good. He IS very self-serving. On a trivia quiz about songs with colors, his last clue was “What is my name?” Not a song. Not a color. He also couldn’t speak English - he pronounced Celine Dion as SeenJohn. When asking a question about ABBA, he couldn’t pronounce Stockholm. Another Compass error was the TShirt sale was advertised for Friday but was held on Saturday. Dining again: There are many seats available in an anteroom of the main dining restaurant but the doors were kept closed until the restaurant opened. Huge anteroom with doors separating it from the dining room but folks were forced to stand in the halls. Also, buffet closes its doors when food not available. Would be nice to go in and sit while waiting instead of standing in the hallways. Finally: This ship is designed for families with young children. All others need not bother. Find another ship. My husband and I have only cruised Royal Caribbean in the past and figured let's take our daughter for her first cruise for my husband's 40th birthday and Halloween. What a giant waste of money. RC has really gone down hill. Seems like RC keeps spending their money on advertising and private islands but not investing into their ships and staff. Here are some of the complaints that I pointed out to Royal Caribbean. ● Our room was dirty. o As soon as you walked into the room the first day it smelled like body odor. The odor was very strong for most of the trip. It was primarily by the outside of the bathroom (Not in the bathroom) and the closet. Once you moved past that area the smell was not as strong. We were very thankful that we had a balcony so we could open the door to get fresh air. o The shower light in the bathroom didn’t work the entire time we were there. We had asked our stateroom attendant to fix twice and he never did. o The room was overall dirty. My daughter found plane tickets and other items in the cabinets and drawers that were from May 2018. o My husband had to open the fold away couch to see if my daughter’s blanket was folded in there and was disgusted of how dirty it was inside and under. o With how dirty the room was, my husband and daughter’s severe allergies were triggered and both of them had a hard time breathing. Thankfully I had packed all necessary medications and breathing treatment equipment required for them. o Our first evening we all wore white socks in our stateroom, and after about 15 minutes of unpacking our socks were blackened. We couldn’t walk barefoot in our room without being disgusted. ● Halloween o When I booked this trip over the phone with a Royal Caribbean representative, I specifically asked what was done on the cruise ships for Halloween. This is my family’s favorite holiday, especially my daughter, and we wanted to make sure she would have an amazing experience and would not miss not being home. The representative placed me on hold to look into and stated the cruise ship does Trick or Treating for the children and a costume contest. o The week before the cruise I called Royal Caribbean twice to find out more information about the events that would be happening on the ship and no one could answer my questions. o On the cruise, we asked multiple times about the plans for Halloween with many crew members and none of them knew what was going on or how to find out. o Halloween was the day we ported in St. Thomas, when we were getting back on the ship, they informed us that there was Trick or Treating on the main promenade from 4-6 pm for the children, so we immediately went upstairs to change into our costumes. When we arrived back downstairs, there was only one spot that had candy left at 4:15. My daughter received one piece of candy……I do not understand how a cruise line could not have better planned for the trick or treating and making sure there was enough candy for everyone. Royal Caribbean knows how many children are going to be on board. Also, the staff should have been better informed about how to distribute the candy so there was candy left after 15 minutes. Many parents that we spoke to were very upset with how the trick or treating played out. o The costume party – was very unorganized, no one knew where they had to go unless they were regular cruisers of the cruise ship. o Overall, Halloween was a large disappointment and my daughter was very upset and confused about what transpired. ● Excursion o My husband and I decided on the cruise to book an excursion for St. Thomas. I went to the excursion desk to book a tour guide/sightseeing tour (Panoramic St. Thomas Island Drive). The excursion desk asked what our goal from this excursion was and I told them it was to get amazing photography from it. As it is their job to sell you, they upsold me to the (5 Star Island Tour). This tour was 6 hours instead of 2 and almost triple the cost but they guaranteed there would be a lot more photography opportunities on this excursion. Well they were absolutely wrong about this. I went back to the desk the following day to complain and they offered me a 15% refund and would pass the request on that I was asking for a 50% refund. Never heard anything further. ▪ Excursion Details – The excursion was to be 6 hours long and make 3 distinctive stops and stop on the way up and down the mountain for scenic shots. Our driver never stopped going up or coming down the mountain because he stated there were too many tourists stopped at each scenic stop so he kept driving. This was one of the main reasons we booked this excursion was for the scenic shots. At the top of the mountain we were given 30 minutes to get down to the shop and back to the bus to leave for the next stop. It was not much time since we didn’t stop anywhere for photos on the way up. Then our driver almost left behind a couple because they were a few minutes behind. Next we drove down the mountain to Magen’s Bay Beach for 2 hours. On the way down, again we didn’t stop for any photos like the excursion team said we would do. At the beach we were dropped off and the tour guide left with his vehicle and told us to meet him back there in 2 hours. Again, we almost left the couple that was late returning on the first stop, until we really pushed the driver to wait. Next we made the drive Charlotte Amalie’s Shopping district in which we were given an hour to walk around. The driver was then 20 minutes late picking us up and he left the couple that was continually late and didn’t even bother to wait. We were back to the ship within 4.5 hours not 6 hours. If we would have stopped for pictures we would have been at 6 hours but the excursion was not as long as specified and we did not get the pictures opportunities that the excursion team stated we would. ● Cruise ship was dirty and understaffed o Overall the cruise ship felt very dirty. For example, we went to take our daughter to the Kid’s Club for a family activity and as my husband and I walked around, we both looked at each other and we were disgusted and how dirty it was. We would never leave our daughter there, it felt that gross. o The cruise ship also seemed to be understaffed. ▪ Little things were overlooked that were a standard before when cruising with Royal Caribbean. Such as fresh ground pepper with dinner, as we referred to it from past cruises (The drink guy, who went table to table) for drink orders and after dinner shots, and the overall presence of staff. ▪ The corridors seemed dirty and not maintained. ▪ The dining staff seemed to be running thin and were trying to cover too many tables. ▪ Our room attendant seemed to be caring for too many rooms that details and small things like the towel animals were overlooked. My daughter even noticed and said loud enough when we walked into the room one night….another night without an animal….That is sad to hear when your child is disappointed about a simple thing. ● The overall staff seemed to be under-educated about the events on the ship and proper protocol for certain things. o Example – On our first stop to Nassau, the captain made an announcement before sailing time that we were waiting for additional guests and would be delayed. Then he came back on and stated we all needed to return to our staterooms for a manual attendance. This took over 2 hours to complete. (Sorry, if this was a real emergency, it should not take 2 hours.) What my husband and I found out later is this was due to the computers shutting down at the port and the cruise ship employees just let the guests on board without scanning their sea passes, which then left the attendance short of everyone on board. What should have happened if the setback took longer than 15 minutes to reboot computers is the employees should have written down the names of the guests and their room numbers and then it would have been a quick cross check. Instead we were delayed by 2 hours. ● In an effort for the captain to make up lost time due to the delay in departing Nassau, he sped up the cruise ship. This made for a very bumpy ride. I actually experienced sea sickness for the first time, and I have been on a cruise with Royal Caribbean in a tropical storm that produced 50 foot waves. We even missed a port on the cruise and never experienced sea sickness. I even asked employees that I could find if the ship was normally that rocky and they said no, it was due to the increased speed to make up the time. No offense I would have rather had less time on St. Thomas then have sea sickness all day. ● The food quality and standards. o My husband and I felt that the overall food quality significantly decreased since our last cruise. There was less of a selection of food options and it felt like they repeated every other day. The meat quality seemed to be subpar to what we have received before. The food was just okay that we felt obligated to pay for other restaurants on board and unfortunately the only one we really had appropriate clothing for was the Mexican restaurant on the boardwalk. o We felt that the chefs were just rushing to get the plates out and didn’t put that extra time into the presentation detail. These were my overall complaints to Royal Caribbean and here is what they offered after going back and forth for 2 months the only thing they were willing to offer me and my husband was $435 credit towards our next cruise and 1 night of special dining........I am sorry i spent over $3k and that is all they are willing to do.....horrible customer service. RC doesn't even stand behind their product anymore, they used to care about their guests and now they only care about the dollar signs. Truly disappointing that one of my husbands and my favorite ways to vacation is no more. I used to speak highly about them to anyone that asked about cruising and i have to say i will not be doing that anymore. Read Less

My friend won a cruise from her company the company picked the ship. Oh yes we have spoken to them about other choices. The ship was so overcrowed you couldnt even get in the pool or find a lounge chair to set in. It took forever to get a drink from the bar. A couple of the bars we just stopped going to. It seemed like they had plenty of cheer in their system and they couldnt care if they waited on ya or not. Our room was filthy and yes contact me, and I will show you them. They are going all over the internet you may have seen them. The very best thing on this boat was the food service people. The wait staff was super, they really tried to make your cruise special. The guy who took our pictures lost them. When we went to view them they were not there. So we didnt wven get to see them. This was so disappointing for me. Then tou but the drink cards and you cant get waited on. Or they ask you if ypu would like a drink you say yes, they say well you have to buy the glass too. Ripe off cruise lines. Stay away! First off I want to start by saying we were on the cruise that got returned to port a day early, were aloud off at Haiti, but were not aloud off at Jamaica and Cozumel. Started out as a smooth boarding process, nice, get on the boat and our rooms are no where near our family as they were suppose to be in fact they arent even in the ballpark of close. But 2nd day we tries to make the best of a bad situation because I was suppose to have a room next to my parents so when our kids were asleep my husband and I might be able to check out the night life of the cruise. We get off at our first port Haiti which was beautiful I'd never been there before, had lunch had drinks it was a great time, get back on the ship and everything does a 180. Nero Virus. My son who was upstairs in the kids section got closed because kids were throwing up on everything, they closed the free play area so our 1 year old really didnt have anywhere to play other than on the floor which everyone was throwing up on. That night my husband and I also unfortunately got sick. Tried to give her to my mom who was not sick but my father , and grandmother were sick and they had not place for people who werent sick to go to sleep. Then our son got sick who is 5. So we had to stay in with him till he had clearance to go out of the room . Then our 1 year old got sick. We didnt even get to come out of the room to experience anything on the ship. Royal Caribbeans daycare after our son was cleared gave our sons Nike jacket to some other kid. Then on top of everything else mixed up the quarantine that was suppose to be on my daughter and put in on my sail and sign card, they would not let me off the ship with my kids and my family and I had all the medicine for her. From start to finish just a horrible experience. By the time you started feeling better someone else in your party started feeling terrible getting sick all over the place. Pick a place, fly to it. Go all inclusive and say yourself the wasted vacation days that you wont get back. Read Less
