We choose this ship after several rips out of Ft Lauderdale and Oasis was highly rated. Our problems started with a cramped balcony room # 6578, with little storage and a stuck closet door. It took me over one hour to fix the closet that was stuck on a safe door. The safe was in the closet and the door hung up. Needless to say a bad idea. We had intermittent hot water over the seven day voyage. What a pain to have a very luke warm shower every morning and several evenings. Very unpleasant and never really fixed over 7 days. The windjammer buffet was very poor. Design and food was lack luster and was avoided by others at all costs except emergency food. Main dining was another clear disaster. Staff at our table of 10 was clueless. Wine service, delivery of food and attention to detail was very poor. The food was generally fair but some appetizers were poor. Service was slow and nearly cold food many of the days. We were stuck in St Thomas with engine problems from 4:30 pm (all aboard) to 11:30 pm with no explanation while the ship just sat there. The shows were good except for the Aqua show that never appear due to rain. Chops was also very good along with the Park Cafe for lunch. We have been to St Thomas and St Martin before. We had Kontiki trip at St Thomas that was very good. The guys weer great, food and drinks very good. Worth the cost. Overall the ship was too big, service was lackluster, food so so, cabin small with problems, casino full of smoker's and not too our overall likes. Many others also complained. Next time samller is better overall. Read Less

Ship was very clean and organized. But too many people onboard which lead to long lines ; not enough frozen yogurt machines, Aqua show was cancelled without being rescheduled ...onboard entertainment should really be updated - it's the same entertainment as over 5 years ago. Staff were very nice and very helpful, Food in main restaurant was cold when it was served. The windjammer had better options with food that was always hot. The itinerary wasn't the best as we only got a few hours at Nassau but we got a whole day at labadee (royal carribeans own island) so it just felt as though royal Caribbean just wanted to limit any guest spending money outside of royal carribeans property... CATS isn't really cruise material...think most of the guests fell asleep at the performance..having a broadway show onboard is a great idea , it just needs to be the right one that is lively and more entertaining Read Less

I will admit the ship is pretty and impressive looking. A very nice layout. Loved the different areas. But that's where the good ends. Walked aboard to one of two rooms that stunk from cigarette smoke. (Never completely eliminated by the staff, though they appeared to put effort in AFTER we complained. They should've noticed well before our arrival.) Huge crowd was watching Monday Night Football game with playoff implications and we were literally thrown out at about halftime to permit Karoake - over 100 people. Food was terrible, dining room service even worse. Limited options, and food was bad, cold, etc. Lobster had ammonia smell that was probably from the preservatives or was rancid. Kept sending back, new ones came back same. Couldn't eat them. Even the Specialty restaurants, which are expensive, were unimpressive. Main course was just "OK" (Steak) but appetizers and sides were poor in taste and quality. Only the desserts were decent. Rooms were generally warm. It took the staff 4 nights to get me a small fan. Rooms service was terrible in every way. Most of the food was inedible. Restaurants all close by 10:00 p.m., virtually nothing to eat but bad pizza after that. In most cases had to repeat requests for simple items or refills on drinks with all staff members. Some were even rude. Computer went down several times when trying to plan excursions or dining reservations. Ship lost water service for about 3 or 4 hours one day. The internet service was extremely spotty, often leaving us disconnected and having to log back on. And the mattress was hard as a rock. I had always heard Royal Caribbean was top notch, so I was extremely disappointed by my family's experience. Also, the comedy club seats about 100 people. That's not enough for 6,200 guests. Most never were able to go, even by attempting standby. Unfortunately, for those that actually made it inside, the comedian had only one set of jokes for the entire cruise, that he repeated every show - unimpressive. Spa treatment rooms were located next to or under the gym, so constantly heard weights banging. When I mentioned the noise, my spa attendant Josie refused to even attempt my massage, saying she'd only have to do it over if I complained later - great attitude Josie! So, my advise, spend less and get more somewhere else. Read Less

I wanted to experience an 8 night cruise and spend Christmas with my family in a special setting. I was very disappointed with the ships appearance. After spending 25k on the suite I expected more. Our suite was smaller than advertised and poorly laid out. My son and I hit our heads no less than 20 times on lights and light fixtures. The deck in our suite looked like it had not been cleaned in years. Stained furniture and stained bar area. Wouldn't touch it. Food was good. Genie was a great asset. Way overpriced and they gouged for the Holiday cruise. Not the value I expected at all. The casino management did very little to work with people. It was a go through the motions management team. I have had better on lesser ships in the RCL network. Unless I see or hear of progress in the above areas I suggest another ship or company. Read Less

We previously had only cruised on Disney, but was looking for a change as our kids are getting older. Royal Caribbean is not for us. If you have ever cruised with Disney, I would avoid at all costs as you will be very disappointed. Positives Ship is impressive in size and is maintained well. Plenty of pools and hot tubs on board, so kids can have plenty of pool time in a less crowded environment. Climbing wall and flow rider were fun for kids and wait was only around 30 minutes each time. Basketball/soccer/dodgeball court was fun for them as well. However it was much more crowded. Ping pong was ok, but most of the balls were ruined so was harder to play. Shore excursions were great, but nothing different from Disney, so maybe all lines have the same options? Don't honestly know. Entertainment shows at night were quality, and well done. Daytime activities were limited once you had your fill of sports deck and all it offered. Negatives With few exceptions, crew is not very friendly or service oriented. If you find someone nice, keep going back as they are a rarity. If you are a sports fan at all, avoid this ship. Bowl season and twice had games interrupted for karaoke. They literally asked 150 people to exit during MNF just before half so they could start karaoke as well. Zero concern from guest services as 150 people were asked to leave so 7 could sing karaoke. Food is awful. Especially when compared to Disney. Buffets are sub par and same thing every day for every meal with no variety or concern about quality. Dinner meals were a bit better, and staff for dinner was great, but honestly think they keep food below average so people will seek out opportunities to eat in restaurants where you have to pay for them. DO NOT buy the drink package for sodas and juice. Machines are only located in three places, and at least half the time they did not have ice, and a quarter of the time they did not work at all. Once broken, they didn't go out of their way to fix. They have options during meals for free, and that ended being about all you got anyway. Booze package looked to be worth it for those that purchased. Finally, spent almost 3 hours without water or toilets due to a line breaking. Stuff happens, but certainly has not been our experience before. Over all, if you go on cruises for quality food and service, I would avoid RC as the cost is similar to Disney, (at least during the Holidays) but the experience is half of what we have had on Disney. At the advice of others, we intend to try Celebrity next as there were a lot of other folks that felt the same way as us and said they would never do another RC cruise. Read Less

celebrating 50th wedding anniversary and Christmas. We paid almost double what we normally pay for a RCCL cruise, and expected something special in return The service on board was sub standard. We did not receive our invitation to cruise critic party, nor did we receive diamond plus amenities in our cabin. When we complained at guest services, on day 3, we were told we had missed cruise critic party, and they would bring amenities. We later that evening received a plate of cookies and 3 glasses of water? Our adult sons, also diamond plus, had received cookies the first day, cheese and fruit second day, and cookies the 3rd day. We were supposed to receive recognition of our 50th anniversary on the second night of the cruise, but again nothing. We booked our entertainment to be timed with our second seating dinner time. Then we were told our dinner time had been changed from 8:30 to 8:00, so we ended up missing some of the things we normally enjoy. Lunch service our first time in the dining room was very slow, waiter seemed to be very confused. Last day breakfast in dining room, I ordered eggs benedict, and, and was told by waiter I had the wrong menu which he never replaced with correct one. My sons scrambled eggs were full of egg shells, and had to ask several times for coffee refills. Extremely disappointing will never do another Christmas cruise. Read Less

The Oasis (love the ship ) had the worst food of any ship we have been on. This was our fifth time on RCL and it just continues to disappoint in the category of food, daily events (focus on spa, selling merchandise , drinking and casino ) and night time activities ( everything closes by 12:30 a.m. except disco and casino)Our party of 10 plus all agreed that Carnival , NCL and Disney are much more fun and have better food and service. RCL puts the money into having the biggest ships and the best professional entertainment (outside disney) otherwise nothing special. Dining staff, Cabin Stewart and Guest Service staff were excellent. RCL has reduced the amenities to passengers and finds a way to charge for the most basic things that were otherwise included in the price of cruising. The food in windjammer was the same each day and the dining room food was not much better . They clearly want passengers to dine in the speciality restaurants at an additional cost . The one plus was the entertainment in the theater, headliner singer, ice show , comedy club , etc. They were all outstanding. Read Less

A birthday cruise with 7 neighbors, all with poor reviews….so many people..too many kids…had to get reservations for everything..standby line never worked…frustrating cruise…a rat race.had to pay extra for anything..even a bandade cost 50 cents,..we had an inside cabin, which was tiny. The couch in the room was very tired, and DIRTY.never sat on it..gross.Had a tall surly man as cleaning staff..never cleaned the toilet area, never vacuumed the room..strange..my 2 other cruises elsewhere didn't have these problems. The ship itself was a beauty..the Captain was very competent …we had a very rough first 2 days at sea,and he made the decision not to stop in Nassau,as wind/wave conditions were too challenging..very professional. The dining room staff were pretty good,in general. The shows at night were good,if you reserved ahead of time..good thing we did this before our cruise. All in all,we won't be setting foot on another ship this large, and will read reviews before booking again. It won't be with RCL..It took an hour and a half to get on the ship, and…the last group to get off..an hour and a half to get off..that was the final kick in the butt from RCL..NEVER AGAIN…….absolute chaos. Main Room attendant treated us more like we were on his personal slave ship than a high end cruise ship. He busted in our room consistently throughout our stay trying to catch someone smoking. When that didn't work he went ahead and charged 250 dollars to our account cause he claimed he found ashes on our balcony. Good luck keeping your privacy and your money. Nice ship though. The food is good, the excursions are decent but you can get off the sip and find your own excursions just as easy. Little rocky on the way down but its to be expected during this season , once we were in the caribean the cruise was smooth and the weather was great. The casino and entertainment is good The ship is huge so theres plently of places to explore, overall a nice cruise aside from the task master. Royal Carribean is a nice cruise line. Read Less

Passage ways were dirty. Main dining room food was of marginal quality. Exercise equipment was broken and in need of repair. Main headliner was of poor quality. Internet service for the price was terrible. It took 30 min. for an email page to load. Main show (CATS) was impossible to follow. Many guests left after the first intermission. The overall experience when compared to previous RC cruises was a disappointment. It appears the RC is cutting corners to increase profits. It felt like they are resting on previous laurels earned to mislead current customers that the quality of excellent service provided in the past in continuing when in fact it isn't. RC needs to return to previous way of providing excellent services across the board without nickel and diming their customers with poor service, stained or dirty carpeted areas, lousy entertainment, and general lack of concern over the quality of the experience the individual cruising experiences. Unless this approach to customer service changes our family will not be sailing with RC in the future. Charging additional funds for internet access these days sounds about as logical as charging for air as it so engrained in today's society. The internet was so slow at the lesser of the to performance packages it was completely useless. Read Less

My wife and I and friends left Port Canaveral on a 7 night stay on the Oasis of the seas. This would be our 6th time on RC ships. We chose the Oasis simply because it was large and convenient to us. We live on the west coast of Fl. Getting on was fairly quick. But once on, we began the arduous task of bumping with 6000 people. We had a difficult time asking for "Mytime" dining times. Probably beause of the amount of people. The first night dining was OK, nothing special. The food was just mediocre. I have a passion for Escargot, but this time, it was chewy, gritty, and a funny taste afterward. Disappointed. The next day there were no usual gang of staff members dancing around the upper deck trying to brighten up a gray day. No waiters with a special drink to offer. Matter of fact, at any time of the trip. The shower was the worst. The mixing valve for hot cold was not working correctly. You wait to get the right mix, then get in, and then ice cold water, then scolding hot. Complained, complained, complained, but never fixed. Always beating around the bush with no resolution. To make a long story (7days) short. I had the worst time on a cruise ship that I ever had. The usual fancy artwork of towels was not cutting it this time. The ship needs more signage, more restrooms, less people or more elevators. We stayed on the 7th deck. If you don't go in the right elevator, you have to go up or down to the next floor, then go up or down to get to your room. (DUMB design) I always cruise RC, but I will never go with them again. Don't waste your money. Read Less

My husband wanted to experience a humongous cruise ship so we decided to try The Oasis of the Seas. Our first impression was that the cabin seemed noticeably smaller than we've had on other lines, but the boat was nice and well-cleaned. We thought the Park was very nice, and the food was good. The majority of the entertainment seemed to be aimed at much older passengers, and the water was too cold to do any of the really fun excursions (certainly that is not Royal Caribbean's fault, but if you hope to snorkel or otherwise enjoy the water, do NOT cruise in January! And it is very frustrating to look at beautiful water that is too cold for you to enjoy!). Additionally, because of the weather it was not desirable to sit outside or enjoy the water features on the ship - but again, that is a function of the time of year/Mother Nature, and certainly not a reflection on RC. In sum, it was not a fun cruise. The final straw was two experiences (with the hospitality staff and the photo staff) that pretty much soured us on RC. Read Less

The ship is huge with lots to do and see our cabin was a great size with a bathroom offering more than ample room to turn around in and dress If you could not find food which was wonderful there was something wrong with you for there was all types of ethnic foods with snacks to formal abounding The entertainment, activities onboard(we won't talk about off board), and services on ship were great, varied, and abounding. The ports offered many excursions and there was sufficient time to explore however there needs to be better communication between those booking (especially the staff online bookings and those booking on the ship). Comments such as a personal opinion reflected in the comments of those loading the busses as to the mobility level of passenger on a special needs trip should never be voiced. I have not been on a great number of cruises but this one was the most efficient I have ever taken in the loading and unloading process. The weather, rocking of the ship and pluming problems we encountered are all just luck of the draw. We did have pluming problems for the most of the trip up to approx. 10 hours of inability to flush the toilet. Overall the trip, the ship, and especially the staff were great. Read Less

This was our first cruise. Therefore we went thru a travel agent to make sure everything would go smooth and be planned. We chose The Oasis of the Seas due to the reputation and it being a large ship. We had been told in the past that the food was awesome. However, this wasn't our experience. The food was awful. I ordered a steak in the dining hall and it just didn't look like a steak at all. The consistency was mushy to say the least. After that dinner, we resorted to going to the Wind Jammer buffet. Again, the food wasn't great, some was cold, others were greasy. Day to day the selection didn't change much. Due to size of the ship, it took alot of time to check on when dining places were open as they would have scattered hours. So if you find something you like, make sure to know where it is and the hours it is open. I asked about the fabulous desserts and seafood that everyone raves about, and never found them. Until we went to one of the pay restaurants, at that time we experienced a good meal and a great dessert. This is the one we had in the 7 days. If you choose to go on this ship, pay for the upscale restaurants. We also had booked shows before the trip as instructed. However, when it comes down to the shows, anyone can go, and you who reserved in advance will have NO where to sit and have to stand for the show. For example, the water show. We also had a bad experience with guest services. I had cancelled my drink package on the second day of the cruise and it took 5 attempts and trips to guest services to get it straightened out. (I had to go down there to get straightened out, while I was sea sick) Also, as said in earlier review, watch your bill. I followed the steps to take for booking dinners at the pay restaurants. It took me 4 times to get a booking set at the place we wanted. Due to the guest services not completing the reservation correctly after 4 attempts, I didn't get my desired dinner time and had to resort to day we were at port instead of a cruising day like I wanted. So we had to rush back from port to get ready for a 5:30 dinner when I wanted a 7:30 dinner on a cruising day. Ports were good, Bahamas was so-so, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten were good, but time there is short and goes to fast. The cleaning person was wonderful, cabin with balcony was nice. Due to the food and customer service not being good, I wouldn't recommend this boat. I have heard great experiences on other cruise lines. Read Less

We have cruised many cruises and wanted to try one of the mega ships so we booked the Oasis of the Seas. We had a balcony room mid ship on the 8th floor. The entry to the ship went very smoothly and the port staff was very friendly. The ship appeared very clean, some areas of the ship needed updating like the carpet in the cabins was worn and stained We ate in the Salarium Grill upon entering the ship, food was ok and this was one of few places on the ship not too busy. The windjammer was packed no seats available and the food didn't even look good. The food was very disappointing over all for the entire week. For some reason they had a problem where they can't serve the hot food hot it was always luke warm at best. It seemed like the ship was making the food pretty bad to push the specialty restaurants. We tried the Chops Steakhouse on Tuesday Night and the food was pretty good until it came to dessert. After paying $42.00 a person for the specialty experience you expect some great food. Well the steak was good, most sides were pretty good the dessert was just plain awful. The title of the one was a warm cooking plate and instead we got 3 old dried up cookies nothing warm about them. The next dessert we tried was Red Velvet Cake it looked good but it was dry with a horrible taste. Supposed to have cream cheese frosting and it tasted bad. Tables around us ordered similar desserts and all of them looked like ours and were not eaten and returned to the kitchen with 2 or 3 bites taken out of them. The Ship has many activities to do on the ship, the shows were good but organization was a serious issue. They scheduled a trivia session in the Schooners Bar and nobody could hear what the host was saying because they had music blasting in the Promenade that was so loud that nobody could hear what the host was trying to ask. This was a problem numerous times with other events. The problem was a common problem but the cruise director did nothing to reschedule the event in a less chaotic place on the ship. Biggest disappointment was food for sure..... Steve Smith, Knoxville TN Read Less

Noisy: It was very loud with hectic music and yelling announcements everywhere. We could not get away from it except in our state room. Poor food: The food was cooked to death and cold in the Main Dining Room. My Dining program was not working. There were LONG lines in the Windjammer and all other breakfast venues. We were very disappointed with this cruise. Besides being terribly crowded, the ship and our stateroom are in serious need of upgrading. Our stateroom was filthy - the furniture is stained, dirty and damaged in some areas. The food in the common dining areas was the same every day and offered little variety. We found all bar areas very under staffed. There were long waits for everything. The 'expedited' departure process took almost two hours - we lined up at 0615 and go off the ship at 0730. Very frustrating. We had only positive dining experiences in the specialty restaurants - excellent food and service. We had cruised twice before on the Allure of the Seas and very much enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the Oasis of the Seas was not an enjoyable experience - will never board that ship again. The check-in experience was not positive - certain packages we had purchased were not added to the sea pass - had to wait over 20 minutes for a new one to be produced. Read Less

We traveled with a large group and had never been on a super sized ship. We were disappointed with the quality of the food, the limited selection in the main dining room and the Windjammer. The service was not the best with the exception of the server of the evening meal. Our room safe was broken on our arrival and it tood three requests to get it serviced. At breakfast in the main dining room, on several mornings, we never received the juice we requested. On two occasions we never got all the food we ordered. (salad was never delivered). Morning room service was very efficient. We had dinner at the Chops Grill and the food was not as expected in a special restaurant. My husband's steak was full of grissel. The ship had the appearance of being "tired." The chair in our stateroom had a tear in the bottom liner and the carpet needed a shampoo. I would call the theme of this cruise "technical difficulties". It seemed to be an ongoing thing for the Oasis. You would think this was her maiden voyage with the annoyances and issues we dealt with so this is our last voyage with Royal Caribbean. The staff was very hit and miss on friendliness and efficiency. It felt like they were working out the kinks of a new ship/new staff/new everything when I know this was not the case. Embarkation was like a long line of cattle. Disembarkation was chaos as usual but once they actually let us off the ship and we found a porter, life was easier. I highly recommend you find a porter if you have more than carry on luggage. Totally worth the tip. The shows were late until our last two days at sea which is frustrating if you have small children and don't want to pay extra for childcare "after hours". I would have loved to go to a comedy show on the ship but they held it in a tiny room that only held a small amount of people and every one of those shows started late in the evening. Highlights: -Kids loved Adventure Ocean. Especially my three year old. The Voyagers class was a bit rambunctious and out of control at times though. -Our room steward was good and kept our room tidy and clean. -Our waiter and assistant waiter in the dining room were attentive and entertaining. Dinner was good. It is always nice to be served steak every night. haha -Shore Excursions to St Thomas and St Martin were lovely as always. Those beaches are gorgeous. Lunch was good at Abi Beach and . -Cleanliness. I am a huge clean freak because I am a self admitted germaphobe. I love that they are waiting for you outside the dining rooms with hand sanitizer. I love the reminders to wash hands. I love seeing them cleaning things constantly. Huge plus for me. Lowlights: -Our MyTime dining was messed up and instead of 6pm dining we were reassigned (after a couple visits to guest services and speaking to the person in charge of dining) to 5pm. A big difference when you were looking forward to taking advantage of having your children picked up at 6:40 by childcare staff so you can catch up with family. -Trying to turn off gratuities took 4 visits to guest services. That line was constantly long so I know we weren't the only guests with issues. -Finding answers to any questions took visits to multiple staff members who often had different answers. I was sent to 4 different locations on this huge ship just to buy a pair of goggles for my child. -Navigating this ship is NOT easy in inclement weather if you are not familiar with it. They don't put extra signs in this case. Good luck getting from one end of the ship to the other for meals on time when portions are closed off on the first day. -There seemed to be technical difficulties with many shows, performances, and entertainment. Cats, Come Fly with Me, line dancing by the pool, live bands, character performances....these were all affected on our cruise. Instead of rescheduling, they would just not do it. No notice or announcement really. Just oh well it isn't happening. -Seeing the characters was a big draw for my children but actually making it in time to see them was an issue as they were either late or would leave after 5-10 minutes. -Food choices in the Windjammer were not what I was expecting this go around. Not as kid friendly for my picky eaters as I recall from our last cruise years ago. The chaos of the Windjammer is even worse on a ship this large. -I felt similar activities were all within the same time frame meaning things I would enjoy would be lumped together and then I would have nothing to choose from. -Getting water to drink on this ship felt like an impossible task at first. They REALLY want you to buy that soda package. I got so frustrated, I called room service for ice water one night because I wasn't walking across the ship for a cup of water to take medication. You would think ice was an impossible commodity to come by. -The amount of unattended children on this cruise was astounding. I guess curfews are not enforced and the staff doesn't do anything about young children roaming and being left in pool areas alone. This was a huge annoyance to many guests I spoke with as well as my own family. Kids were running up and down the halls at all hours. -I don't drink but my husband was very unhappy with the bar service. Drinks were poorly made for the price you pay. Many were made incorrectly and although drinks would be listed on the menu, bartenders would say they did not know how to make them and send you to another bar. It seems the staff is not well trained in many areas. -They didn't have enough people to run all the activities on the ship. Only one rock climbing wall was ever open although they boast two. Using the flow rider was hit or miss on how many were staffing it. They would sometimes divide it and you could do two at a time but instead of letting people go who had been waiting, they would let people who had already gone get in the new line. -Snack options were non-existent if you don't like pizza. Everything else closed in the afternoon. -The smoking area is by the pool. It was super windy so the entire pool area smelled like smoke. Not what I wanted to be exposed to all the time much less my children. - Due to inclement weather we could not stop in Nassau and went to San Juan which wouldn't have been so bad if we didn't get to Puerto Rico at 6pm and leave at 11pm. That is not ideal for those of us with small children. I feel like some shows or something on the ship could have been offered during that time. -Quite a few pieces of cardio equipment were out of order. I know...who works out on a cruise? Well apparently a lot of people who don't follow the 30 minute rule when others are waiting. Overall our family (11 total people, 6 adults and 5 children) enjoyed our experience on Navigator of the Seas a few years ago much more. The kids had fun but adults were sorely disappointed in the Oasis. Bigger is NOT always better. Too many people on this ship and it is not laid out well. On a side note: Does Royal Caribbean have the worst website ever or is it just me? It was nearly impossible to actually do anything through the website and my husband and I are both pretty tech savvy people. We often had to call someone who would then direct us to use the website or would have trouble with it themselves (again with the technical difficulties). The most ironic part of the cruise was when they gave us a survey to complete the last night of the cruise and we could do it at any of the computers on the ship. I went to complete it and of course could not due to technical difficulties. What a way to end that cruise. At least my kids enjoyed it..... Read Less

I went on this cruise to be a travel companion to an 84 yr old woman. We were part of a group of eight. This is the first cruise I've ever been on where the Windjammer shuts down mid-day. That was very inconvenient for some of us, especially one who is diabetic. Many other guests seemed surprised and unhappy about it as well. At the fitness center I had to try 3 recumbent bikes to get one that worked correctly. One bike had lost one of the end caps off the hand grip exposing sharp, pointed, plastic edges. The safe in our room needed two repair calls and a third call for new batteries. The sales staff in the Regalia jewelry shop is extremely pushy. Friendly, but they operate in overdrive. They're worse than used car salesmen. The customer services employees were great and the dining room waiters were exceptional. Most employees were friendly and helpful except for the older guy who makes smoothies in the spa area. He became impatient because I was reading the ingredients while making a selection. He said, "She's not getting a drink" to someone who walked up behind me. Wanting to create positive memories of this cruise, I took that opportunity to walk away. The departure process was horrible as my friends and I got told to "step aside" without any explanation for the delay until much later. That process was crude and unfriendly. I had purchased jewelry and the customs agent wanted to know the name of the maker. I didn't remember nor did I care. I liked it so I bought it - period. Gratefully, the customs employee was kind and considerate. Otherwise, all things considered, I'll never sail on the Oasis of the Seas again. Read Less

We chose this cruise as we were part of a large group following an entertainment trio that performed 2 private parties on board. This is our 4th cruise sailing with the Trio. We had My Time Dinning and that was very bad. Even though we had an assigned area ( due to our large group) it took too long to be seated. Some of the ships entertainment venues were way too small, we like the adult comedy acts. Out of 6500 passengers, only 125 at a time could get into see the acts. We tried ever day for 7 days. No luck. We had never been on a ship this size before, friends had sailed on the Oasis many years ago and said it was great. We have sailed on many cruise lines and have sailed at least 48 times. We will go back to smaller ships. We have now sailed with Royal Caribbean line 4 times, yes we will sail with them again, not on the large ships. Read Less

We were on the same cruise as traci_roo (no relation) and I echo her comments. While the captains decision to stay ahead of the weather was correct, the change to San Juan rather than Nassau put the screws to excursions. It happens, I guess. She was also right on the mark with technical difficulties. What went wrong was never explained but you would think a ship of this size would have some back up equipment. I guess we'll catch “Cats” some other time. Speaking of size, Oasis is just two darn big. Too many people. While the food was adequate - adequate, not awesome - it was very annoying to hear an announcement every few minutes in the buffet that amounted to "We hope you enjoyed your food now please get out". At several thousand dollars a pop, I resented being told to move along. We didn't gain much weight however. Probably due to the 2/10th of a mile (each way) from our cabin to the food. Someone else referred to the ship as a "windowless barge". And that is the case. There seemed to be a determined effort by RC to make you feel you were in a shopping mall rather than at sea. Why build a ship that isolates you from the water? Isn't that the point of cruising? Beautiful ship, no problem with the staff at all but, like many of the folks leaving the buffet, it was overstuffed. Read Less

We didn't choose this cruise our friends did. As we entered the pier to embark, traffic was backed up. We were trying to get to the drop off area. An hour later ( distance 1/4 mile) we finally arrived. The area for commercial vehicles ( buses, shuttles, etc) is in the same area. Directions and people helping direct traffic were the worst I've ever seen. The Royal Caribbean people were arguing with each other. Need I say more? We did find out later that there was a problem with Port Authorities and people wouldn't get off the ship. So we pull up to unload our luggage. I hand our paperwork to RC crew member, they put the wrong numbers on our luggage, luckily my husband caught the mistake. So it has to be done all over again and wrong tags removed. We ended up helping the guy do his job. I'd said by now we aren't impressed. There are people everywhere somehow we found our way out of the masses to check in. Check in was smooth. We were given our room keys and boarding number and told where to go to wait to be called to board. We found our friends. Going on board was a long walk up ramps. Note: don't carry much luggage on. We carried just a pilot case. We walked on board it was beautiful but overwhelming. Crew members everywhere trying to sell beverage packages, dining packages, excursions, etc. We felt that they nickel and dimed us everywhere we turned. Just check out the prices for beverage packages, dining packages and excursions. We needed to make one specialty dining reservations that our travel agent had given us. We chose Chops Steaks. So we got it done there and fast. The Chops restaurant was our favorite. Our waitress, Carmella from Brazil was great. She was very attentive, caring, efficient and used our names when speaking to us. The food is awesome. If you get to choose one restaurant to splurge on chose Chops. Then we also received a free spa treatment from our travel agent so I went to schedule that. There was no lines at the Spa one person in front of me. I scheduled a facial, usually when I have them done on cruise ships they are awesome. Guess what? Not this time. :( We decide to eat at the Doghouse. Another mistake. Hot dog and sausage not even warm. Crew member wasn't friendly or caring at all. So we decide to walk around and get familiar with how this ship is set up. Then at 1:00 pm we could go to our cabin. We were surprised to find 2 bottles of wine from our travel agent and Royal Caribbean. Also, a special they were having that we booked under Eat.Drink.Play. this included a specialty dining for lunch. So we chose Giavionni's Italian restaurant. It was delicious but service was awful and they weren't even busy. We chose to do My Time dining and had scheduled our times before boarding. We also scheduled our nightly entertainment before boarding. Since we had 14 people in our party, our friends made sure that everything was set for seating every one in our group. We were told 2 tables of eight with the same waiter and assistant waiter. Our waiter Krisna and assistant Navin were great. We also became friends with the assistant and MaitreD. They knew we were having some problems with the staff at dining room reservations. For some reason, they couldn't do a line of tables for 14 people but could do 12. This was accomplished except one night we had to change the reservation because the show we wanted to see, Come Fly with Me was canceled. It was canceled the rest of the cruise. :( One morning for breakfast we went at Johnny Rockets early before 9:00 am. Great breakfast, fast and great service. There was a long line when we finished eating. We did the dining room or Solarium Bistro the rest of the days. For lunch one day, we went to Sorrento's for pizza. It was pretty good. The other days, we went to Windjammer, or Park Cafe ( deck 8). We loved the Promenade Cafe, 24 hours coffee shop with coffees, soda, water, specialty coffees, sandwiches, cookies and desserts. There's a Starbucks also. There were some great shopping on the ship sales. Our cabin steward was awesome. We requested an ice bucket every night and it was there. About 4 nights at turn down we had a towel animal greet us. Our room was cleaned spotless every day and every evening. Our cabin overlooked Central Park, every night there was someone playing the piano and/ or violin. Great romantic setting for drinking our wine on our balcony. It was an enjoyable week. But we doubt that we will sail again with Royal Caribbean. Read Less

This was our fourth cruise, all of which have been on RC cruise ships. All previous cruises have been wonderful. Embarkation and disembarkation were fine. Absolutely, no issues. Issues started when we got to our room. In our supposedly clean room, the refrigerator hadn't been cleaned. Leftover food and drink in the cooler left a bad odor in the room. Captain - we have been use to a captain who come on the speaker and talks about how many knots per hours we're going and the depth of the ocean and different ports and what port we will be embarking at the next day etc. The only time I recall hearing the captain on this cruise was the recording at the beginning of the cruise about emergency evacuations. We missed the extra info we usually get. Dining - we ate in windjammer for all meals and the appearance and variety of the food were just not as good as on previous cruises. Windjammer experience was pretty bad all around. Several times I had to wait on drinks to be available at the drink station, there weren't enough drink stations and tables were being cleared off way too slowly. Entertainment - We walked out on Cats during intermission. And we weren't the only ones. In fact, I didn't talk to anyone who hadn't left cats during intermission. The aqua show was either too busy or to slow to be entertaining. Either your eyes could't rest on one thing long enough to gather it in and enjoy it or at other times, like with the gymnast it was just too slow and boring. I didn't see the point in her (the gymnast) at all. The acrobatic show was, boring, also. I did enjoy the comedians and loved, loved, loved the ventriloquist. Our biggest disappointment, though, was the karaoke. Though we don't sing, one of our favorite things to do is to attend the Karaoke. The room for the karaoke was way, way too small. Between 20 to about 40 people were standing each night this was held because the room was so small and there weren't enough chairs in the room. Myself and my husband had to pull chairs from the promenade deck to be able to sit to enjoy the karaoke. We mentioned this to a bartender one night and he just shrugged his shoulders like he didn't understand what we were talking about. I mentioned it at the customer service desk one night and he called the bar that the karaoke was in and they acted just as stupid when he called them. On our previous ships, there was never this issue. Also, karaoke should be judged by judges picked from the audience, not by people clapping. The girl who took second place at the finale only did so because of her 15 loud, loud friends that were there cheering for her and who were so rude that they didn't even cheer a little for anyone else. Specifically, we were disappointed in pretty much all the staff. It was difficult if not impossible to find someone on staff who seemed genuinely friendly and/or interested in their job. It started with the people giving out towels and went up the staff to employees who were handling the music trivia (boring) and karaoke, to Margo the cruise director to the captain. We have seen Margo on previous cruises and she, really, just isn't very funny or entertaining. This down and out attitude pervaded through the rock climbing staff to the water surfing and water boarding to the zip line. Just no smiles. Every body doing a job that they didn't seem to be enjoying. Cleanliness - The public restrooms were not kept as clean as usual and several times I found my tennis shoes sticking to floors where they hadn't been mopped well, I guess. The shore excursions were fine but we missed being offered a chance to do something like bike riding at any of these locations. Also, I know it is mentioned about "saving seats" (that you shouldn't do it) at events but I really with this could be enforced better somehow. My husband and I always arrive early to events to get a good seat. So, finding seating is never really a problem for us but we never fail to see other people who have arrived early saving up to as man as five or six seats This just isn't right. And can't you think of some different things to offer beside Disco Night and Sexiest Man Competition. It's a good thing, this wasn't our first cruise because we would probably never go again if it had been. Read Less
