We chose this cruise because we wanted to visit these ports. We were very impressed with St. Maarten/St. Martin. We were not impressed at all with Nassua. St. Thomas was ok. The beach was very nice! The food experience was not at all what we had experienced on our previous cruise. We were disappointed with the selection of food in the Windjammer. The quality of the wait staff in the main dining room for breakfast was very under par. They made us feel like we were an imposition to them. Sometimes we waited 20 minutes for our cappuccino and juice to arrive. We felt like the staff was not friendly at all in the morning. I think that they were getting a lot of complaints from people, so by the 5th day things were a little nicer. We also felt very inferior to the wait staff in the Windjammer. After I complained to a manager about being totally ignored by someone on the wait staff to come and clean our table off so that we could sit down, we were then approached by that staff person and they still never apologized for totally ignoring us. He was very smug!! Read Less

So many little things wrong. Worst was the mess of disembarkation. For early departure people, apparently there were too few customs agents but that's not a ship failure. What was just an utter mess was how the ship's crew handled it. As people poured from the elevators with their luggage, they ran into others who could not move because the line was right in front of the elevators. The resulting mess allowed latecomers to cut in anywhere and made for ultra-crowded and unsafe conditions. The crew should have organized a line away from the elevators and had enough people to organize the line. Elevators intermittently signaled pending arrival at a floor with lights and sound then the lights would go out, the elevator would skip the floor but the call button would deactivate causing other elevators to also skip the floor until someone noticed and re-pressed the call button. Some elevators failed to signal arrive; the doors would open; nobody would notice this happening; the doors would close; the elevator was gone and the call button was deactivated. Service in the dining room on the first couple of days was spotty but improved later in the week. Lines were too long making access to some things impossible except at very-off hours. On Celebrity, for anytime dining in our experience, the staff would ask if people wished to be seated alone or with others thus efficiently using tables. This provided the opportunity to be seated with strangers for a meal and meet a variety of people. This ship ignored our offer to sit with others and usually we were sitting with empty seats. What made it worse was that there was often a wait for tables. Read Less

Like the title says, this was my third time on the Oasis of the Seas. We had a beautiful ocean balcony room on the eighth floor. Met some wonderful people and our cabin attendant was the best. Unlike other reviews, I'm not going to go into the food and entertainment, because what they say is pretty accurate. My main problem was on the third day. This cruise was my sons' first cruise. They are nine and eleven and had a blast. On the second day, I was swimming in the H2O zone with my youngest, when after a half hour I decided to go back to my chair and that's when I slipped. That was the worst fall I've ever had. There's a lot I can tough out, but my right leg was behind me and I hit on my right side, rib area. I was in so much pain I couldn't think, talk, or move. I just remember this older gentlemen screaming "Oh my God. Oh my God." The lifeguards blew their whistle, and after some time, I finally was helped up into a wheel chair and taken down to medical. This is where the disappointment comes. Yes, there was water all over the deck. I was barefooted and walking normally to my chair. Yes, we signed our rights away before cruising. I'm not looking for a handout. But it was the coldness of the medical staff, trying to shrug off responsibility, and putting it on me, where I had a problem. I had tears streaming down my face from being in so much pain, my knee was jacked up and swollen, I couldn't stand or walk, and it seriously hurt to breath. The security came down and wanted to know what shoes I was wearing (none) and if I was running (not since I was eighteen and I'm forty-one). They were all about pushing the blame instead of just showing a little bit of humanity and compassion. That's all I wanted. That's all I needed at that moment. After making me sit there for over an hour in pain, it's like a nurse finally wondered back to my room, as if she just remembered I was there, gave me several packs of ibuprofen and told me to come back the next day. A man wheeled me to my room where I pretty much stayed in bed for twenty-four hours except to use the bathroom. I missed experiencing my favorite port with my husband and kids. I had the hardest time trying to make it to the bathroom on my own--and I'm not going to lie--there was often muffled screaming and grunting involved. My cruise was the first week where they started charging for room service. If I wanted to wait an hour for food to come up to my room, I was charged a fee. Later that I day, I received a curt "Is there anything you need?" call. I told them I wanted to order room service, and she said they'll call me within the minute. They didn't call. Other than that, there was no stopping by, no phone calls. Nothing. They just didn't care. The next day, while my family was in St. Thomas, I finally hobbled down to the medical. It took me a good twenty minutes to finally get down there, and the unpleasant nurse from the day before, was there and looked surprised to see me. She asked why I was there. I told her that she said for me to come back the next day and she honestly looked baffled. That's when she told me I should've came before eight and the doctor was already gone. As if I knew the doctor's hours. They just said come back the next day. Oh, she also gave sage advice by telling me to "tough it out and that sometimes these things happen". Unbelievable. I don't have a scraped knee. My knee was blown. My trip down the tubes. My ribs are bruised. And I just needed to 'tough it out'. Really? Even when I think about it, it just makes me mad. She asked me if I had any pain relievers and I told her I brought Aleve with me. She gave me some aspirin and told me to take two Aleve, two Ibuprofren, and two aspirin together and sent me on my way. I was crying back to my room from the pain and the dismissiveness of her attitude. I had a skiing accident when I was sixteen, so I know knee problems, and on a pain level, this was in high comparison to back then. Fast forward to today. My knee is still not 100%. I had a major surgery --two in one, actually--on April 24th, and I had to go through recovery hobbling around. Just disappointed with the staff that day. That cruise was ruined for me. I even debated ditching the cruise line altogether, but we're giving Harmony of the Seas a shot in April...and it's got to be better than the last. Just has to be. Read Less

Wanted to try a big ship, never again. Overcrowed with spring break teens and 1200 kids under 1200 sailing free- did not know that would happen. Windjammer llounge overcrowded a nd people were ureged to eat and leave because of long lines. Just a mob of people and decks overcrowed with lotys of playing kids and not enough chairs. Also the diamond passenger lounge was dismal and uninviting. Pretty much the same menu daily at windjammer. Much of the food prepared too early in bulk so things that should be hot were not and much was dreiod out- yecch. Dinner however were excellent in dining room first class food and service. In st. Maartenhad to take water taxi at our expense to wontown- should have been free. Would never cruise a big ship again, but that is their direction aimed at families with small kids. Also price of drinks and the drink package are way too high. A beer ends up costing over $7.00.also was no special embarkation lounge or cofee for diamond passengers like at other terminals- skip this ship. Read Less

Ship is too large with too many people. Found it was a competition to get sunbeds and spent more time waiting at the bar to get served than it took to drink the drink! Customer service from some of the staff in the Windjammer was really poor. They were quick to say 'No' rather than let me find out i.e. When we asked to have our 18 month old babies bottle washed, we were first told they cannot wash it. After speaking to a supervisor we were advised its not an issue to wash it and they put it in the dishwasher. Some staff in the Windjammer were amazing and really wanted to work.....they were really friendly and even remembered what drinks we would have so we didn't need to order them. Some of them seemed as if they were being forced to work. Babies facilities on the ship are pathetic i.e. the swimming area. Only 1 little pool with nothing in it for them to do except walk around. When they went to another part of the pool they got told to move as it wasn't for babies who wear nappies. I would have thought that babies wearing nappies would absorb more of the urine than a small child who didn't wear a nappy but was having too much fun to actually go to the toilet but that was allowed! Professional photography on the ship is a joke. We were celebrating my Dad's 60th Birthday and had family from across the world meet us for this cruise so we wanted a family photo. The 'so-called' professional photographer cut out half my nephew's face......not sure how he didn't spot that. Something went majorly wrong with the photos and when we went to pick them up most of the family members seemed like we had some kind of skin disease with white patches on our faces and arms. When we queried it we were told the lighting was wrong........shouldn't a professional photographer know this?? No form of customer service and when we asked for a digital copy of the photo so we can try to rectify it ourselves we were told we HAD to buy a package for $200 to get 1 family photo.......$200 for a disease looking photo......what a f**kin joke!! Seems like they don't care about customer service anymore and just want to make as much money as they can from you! Have traveled on other Royal Caribbean ships in the past and it has been amazing but not sure if I would travel with them again! Read Less

I think the cruise was a good value but found the ship to be too big for my liking. The food was fair/good but could have been a bit better. I don't like the extra charges for the upscale restaurants because they are excessive. Their prices for drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic are too expensive. $12 for a pina-colada and 3.50 for a coke. The ports of call were nice and we got a small flavor or each island we stopped at. We are an older couple so we didn't partake of any of the shore excursions. I have been on many cruise lines and find Royal Caribbean to be about average in quality and cost. I prefer Norwegian Cruise lines because the ships are smaller and the food is better. The cabins are decent sizes and are kept very clean. The staff is very attentive and very polite and took care of all of our needs. Not sure if I would travel on RC again. Read Less

This was our first time on one of the Mega ships and although it was breathtaking I think we prefer the smaller, more intimate ships. Long lines getting on and off the ship. We felt like the Oasis (and RCCL) was competing with the Disney line for family business - of the 6,500 passengers on board, 2,000+ were children. Comparing this cruise to other RCCL cruises we found the food to be average and long lines at the Windjammer. Many of the buffet items were lukewarm or cold. We had late dining which interfered with many of the evening shows and on two separate occasions we had to send back our meals and make alternate meal selections because our original choice we unsatisfactory. Breakfast and lunch in the dining rooms were very good! As a beer lover I would like to see RCCL work to offer more craft beer selections and to also expand their liquor offerings to Crown and Anchor members. We will continue to cruise with RCCL and Celebrity but I don't see us ever returning to one of their Mega shipos, Read Less

This ship is awesome and everyone should experience it at lease once in a lifetime but.....be prepared. This ship will cost you! Not only for your cruise but almost everything you do on it! 1. I did not like having to make reservations for show's. It would be so much better if you could just go to the show when you feel like it. When you are making the reservations, you have no way of knowing how your day is going to go and then your committed to a show that night and can't make it up another night. That's a real bummer. 2. I did not like having an 8:00 dinner when all the drawings and things were done at that time. It really was not fair to those diners. Come-on RC..... I know you can do better! 3. $$$ and more $$$ everything is going to cost you more money! Almost nothing is free on this trip. We spent as much on our sail pass as the tickets. Shame on you RC! 4. Drinks..... really.... I almost became dehydrated because of the small cups and watered down tea - crappy lemon aide, Water and coffee that would put hair on the chest of an infant. There really was nothing unless you wanted to pay out the wazzzooo. At least let us bring something on board that we can drink out of. 5. Games??? What are those?? Things that people play when on board. The Bingo was overpriced. Trivia was lame. What happened to all the fun games that you normally enjoy on cruises. 6. Don't let them know if you have any allergies to foods. I told them about mine and found out that they have the assistant chef's make the food in the morning then it sits all day waiting for your dinner. No wonder mine was cold EVERY night! 7. It was not all bad. We made great friends onboard and had a great time in spite of RC. Read Less

The boat is beautiful and clean. The staff is super friendly and professional. The excursions were great. They're very organized at departure and arrival. Would highly recommend to people traveling without YOUNG children. IF YOU HAVE KIDS UNDER 3: What they don't tell you is that kids who aren't potty trained are not allowed in ANY of the pools. (We were on Oasis of the Seas...so we can't speak to ALL of the boats) They have one small designated area with ankle deep water...but don't let older siblings in that area. Basically our kids couldn't play together in the pools...which totally ruined our vacation because we are outdoor people. We traveled with our 3 kids (8,2,1) so we had to get a second room...The rooms were attached so we kept the door between the rooms opened. It was nice to have a second bathroom but other than that...the 2 and 1 year old were with us the whole time anyway. We were told that the daily gratuity was charged per room...it was actually per person. We ended up paying about $600 extra in gratuities for the week. Not that the staff doesn't deserve it...they were awesome...but our 2 youngest kids could't take part in the majority of the activities so it didn't seem fair. They also charge for kids club if your child is under the age of 3. Basically...wait until your kids are at least 3 to go on this vacation and about 8 if you want them to really be able to take part in the majority of the activities. Read Less

Was curious about cruising on the largest cruise ship. The cruise line should not charge for popcorn. Using Evian water is huge mistake. Since Coke is served on board, why not use bottled Dasani water? Evian water is nasty. Not enough Coke machines on the ship. The entertainment was okay--the production of Cats was awful...not too many people return after the intermission. A bottle of water and small bag of pop corn was $2.50 at the theater...plus tip. The elevators are ridiculously slow. Cannot hear any of the captains announcements inside the room. All announcements should be simulcast and interrupt regular programming on the television channels. The 24 hour coffee shop always has warm coffee until around 6 a.m. when more people start waking up and arriving. For a ship this large, cannot believe how much the ship rocked left to right, etc. It was ridiculous. The SEA PASS card should be provided with a plackard to put the pass in to wear around your neck... the plackard shold be FREE. The cruise line is profit driven not customer satisfaction driven. We've been on many RC cruises - all smaller ships. We had mixed feelings about this cruise and we are unlikely to do another large ship cruise. Lots of activities and many good shows. We didn't see Cats, but did see all of the others. Come Fly With Me - excellent acrobats/gymnasts, so so singers and dancers. Diving show was phenomenal. Food venues - We are accustomed to having lunch at the WindJammer right after embarking on the ship. We couldn't get anywhere near the WJ. Either get there early or go directly to other restaurants. Park Cafe was very good (although we had to instruct them in how to create a 'classic cuban'), as was the Solarium. For breakfast, (we prefer fruit and eggs/granola) the Solarium was perfect. For dinner, we ate in the Main Dining Room. Service was wonderful. Food was just ok. One night I was served undercooked chicken. Got apologies...that was it. Many plates seemed to have the same sauce whether pork, chicken, or beef. Odd. Many came with mashed potatoes (with chicken parm???). In general, platings were heavy. Would have liked lighter food choices. We ate at Izumi one night. Not impressed. Salad dressing was salty. No soup. Rice was heavy in garlic and eggs. Very few vegetables. Steak was good. We'll be back to Chops next cruise. On/off the ship was VERY smooth - quick! They got that right. Technology - love the Wayfinders...and love that we can see the week's menu (helps to plan specialty restaurants). Internet was fast. Only complaint is that RC needs to make available (like Carnival) an app so that cruisers can text each other for a small fee ($5). For those not familiar with Carnival's, it's opt-in for your group. So, not everyone can contact you...you set it up so that your party of folks can text each other. The Schooner Bar is our favorite bar....on other ships...because you can look out to the ocean. Not on the Oasis - it's smaller and is walled in on one side, and open to the hall on the other side. We asked a bartender whether there was an indoor bar with an outside view. No. He said he misses the ability to see outside, too. Last and most important, this was our first cruise on a larger ship. We missed the community that we tend to build on the smaller ships. Too many options, too many people...takes away from making connections that is so easy in a smaller venue. We like the evening shows in the theater. We like seeing the same people in the bars. We like connecting with our cruise director. Missed all that on the Oasis. Read Less

Was not impressed to the staff at all. I received "attitude" on several occasions which was unwarranted. I have sailed on previous RC lines , which were phenomenal. This leads me to believe that there are issues behind the scenes that are causing low morale. The ship is very large to accompany many passengers. But with the size, the amenities were pretty much the same as the smaller ships. That is why all the shows were by reservation only. I like to wing it and not be on a schedule when I vacation. I would like to just pop in and out of shows but this is not possible on this ship. Instead of rushing thru 3 port calls, I would like to see maybe 2 port calls with more time to explore. Overall, not impressed, I will book other cruise lines from here forward.I hope this helps when booking in the future. Read Less

I have previously traveled on the Oasis and assumed it would be as good as the first time but it was not. The Main dining room food was warm at best and taste was often missing. The Vintages wine room was great especially the staff who all had vast knowledge of the wines they were serving, they made our cruise so much better. Giovanni's and 150 Central Park food was excellent served hot and cooked very well. Staff generally on the ship do not know much about wine especially how to pour it, Vintages staff should be used to train them as they were very skilled in their profession. I have to say I am concerned that Royal Caribbean has lost its way with staff training and food preparation, generally staff were very polite and wanted to be helpful but when food is prepared nearly cold what can they do. I am going to look at other cruise lines in the future and see if the reviews are better than our experience. Read Less

Entertainment was excellent. Food in dining room ok. Staff in all areas excellent, hard working, especially considering the large number of passengers. Food in windjammer buffet just ok. Fish was dry and overcooked, but desserts were delicious. Hard to find a table most times we visited windjammer. Our room steward, Idewa Tilem, was outstanding. Wish we had him for every cruise. Too much trying to sell you something on the ship. Got the feeling it was "all about the money" and upselling. Stateroom TV selection very poor. We like to enjoy a movie or some television in our cabin to unwind after a busy day. We were unhappy that there were charges for movies. Other cruise lines provide free movies and TV series, episodes. Very disappointed with TV. One station provided repeated the same show every night. Enjoyed the art auctions. Travis did an awesome job. Really enjoyed our Jose Cuervo tequila experience tour in Cozumel, a ship tour we booked. Our tour guide, Rocio, was excellent. We learned many things we did not know and tasted premium tequilas. Ship overall was clean, but too big for our liking. We have been cruising for many years, and bigger is definitely not better in our opinion. Too many passengers, crowds, lines. We spent too much time standing in line to get in to a show, even with reservations, as doors were not open until half hour before show. If you want a good seat, you stand in line. Not a fun way to spend vacation time. Read Less

I chose RCI based on recommendations from friends and family. The boat is enormous and there is something for everyone to enjoy. We had an ocean-view room with a balcony on Deck 8. It was cramped for 4 people but adequate. Our stateroom attendant was very helpful and kept the room clean and tidy. The food was very good and the dining staff did an excellent job. I was advised by a staff member that the ship was at approximately 80 occupancy during our cruise. As such, the crowds were not too bad and the crew did a good job of keeping things organized in the dining room and on board entertainment areas. My biggest dissatisfaction is not based on the ship itself or the service provided by the crew. However, I felt that the boat was more of a floating shopping mall than a relaxing vacation. I vacation regularly at both all-inclusive style resorts such as Sandals (Bahamas) and Beaches (Turks & Caicos), as well as "a la carte" locations such as the Hyatt Regency in Aruba and have never felt "nickel and dimed" like I did on this cruise. I also felt rushed at the ports and, as such, was unable to truly appreciate what each location had to offer. Also, waiting on lines to go through security to board the ships at each port was a nuisance. I realize and truly appreciate that this is for the protection of all passengers but was just not something I would choose going forward. Perhaps I am just not a cruise person. Read Less

The best place to eat is the hibachi style restaurant ant and The Chop House is also great. We also had access to the suite lounge. The only show I would not rate as worth seeing was Cats. The staff, entertainment, our cabin and food were really great. I liked the different neighbor hoods I have always went with RCI because of the adult only swim area, An area you could go and just relax, sit in the shade and read a book, take a nap, sit in whirl pool, take a dip in the nice size pool or lay in the sun to get a tan. On the Oasis the Adult area is all in the sun no shade at at, except in some chairs you couldn't loung in. All the so called swimming pool is not really a swimming pool at all just a place to stand up in and get wet. The so called swimming pool was so small, you would have thought with so many people on the ship like 6200 guest on our cruise, that the pool would be bigger not smaller. As you can tell this area is the most important to me. When it came to eating breakfast or lunch all areas we ate at was more like a mob seen, so crowded people everywhere bumping into one another meal time wassn't a pleasant encounter at all. I most likely won't be cruising on the Oasis class ship again I will have to travel to another port much farther away from our home in order to cruise Freedom, Voyager, Radiance or maybe even Vision Class Ships but Oasis not for me. Main deck entertainment on sea days very poor. Cats show is boring, great costumes, but production not really what you want to see on a fun family vacation. Ice show a MUST SEE, as well the Aqua show is good.Food is incredible everywhere on the ship. If you complain about the food you are EXTREMELY PICKEY......The main dining room and Windjammer staff are great. Bartenders on the other hand are slow and not real friendly like I have experienced on other ships and resorts, and the funny thing was , they were all like it.......weird, service was very slow even with tipping......?????? You have to pay for many things on board, I didn't like that, would rather pay more for trip upfront and then have more free things on board. Lots of up selling on board as well. We purchased a beverage package and still had to pay for water in our room.....what is up with that"!!!!!! . They also charged $1.00 in the Casino for champagne and orange juice for Mothers day if you didn't have the alcohol package.......PLEASE.............that is just small, either charge full price or give it for free to all moms.........!!!!!!!! Beverage package worked out well for us. Wifi on board is EXCELLENT. I chose Royal Caribbean mainly because of the reviews. It had good ratings. I also liked the different ports I visited. I flew out of NYC to Orlando and took a shuttle to Port Canaveral. Check in at the port was good, timely and the staff was efficient. When I got to my cabin, the first thing I noticed was the toilet seat and the toilet, it had marks. It was clean but just looked weathered and needed upgrade. Our sheet on the side had a mark like it was soiled (didn't feel or look clean). But we are not uptight people and we just went with the flow but I did feel disappointed. Overall ship was clean, staff were friendly and polite but I could tell some are either having a bad day, tired or in need of a vacation themselves. I took notice of the fitness facility and I have to say it was really nice with clean machines, lots of cardio machines and it was a big facility. I liked the track too. The food at the specialty restaurants (which we bought a package) was super excellent. The food, the presentation and the service were fantastic. I recommend Chops Grille - we went there 2 x's and they were consistent with the service and food quality. I can't say that much for the main dining room. We were at the Icon Grille on deck 3. One night my husband ordered the NY strip steak which he reported to be horrendous. He is (we are) steak lovers and he couldn't even describe what he ate. Do not eat that steak. Even the prime rib was just ok for me too. The staff did follow up with us and tried to make it up by giving a free drink. Overall food was ok at the main dining room. Food was good in the other places for breakfast like the Solarium and Windjammer, Wipe out cafe and Johnny Rockets. We ate dinner at the Solarium and I would recommend the Lamb Chop and Roasted Chicken with Salsa Verde. Very flavorful and cooked well. Service at all the restaurants was fantastic. The waiters aimed to please- they were wonderful. The ports/destinations were great. Beautiful islands with lots of activities. We loved Cozumel the best. Look for Patricio to guide you on a Mayan tour. Disembarking was quick and efficient as well - no issues. So overall, my experience with Oasis of the Seas was just ok. I liked my experience at my last cruise with Carnival better - to be honest. Read Less

We recently returned from sailing on the Oasis of the Seas on the Western Caribbean Itinerary. The cruise wasn't necessarily bad, it just wasn't very memorable for us. This was our second time on this class of ship (sailed Harmony in November 2016), and we both agreed that we would not do this class of ship again. Between the two, our cruise on Harmony was so much better than the Oasis. 1) Our cruise director was probably the worst CD we have ever experienced in all of our cruising. He was just completely absent the entire week. It wasn't until the 3rd day that we even knew what he looked like when he introduced the headline show in the theater. We saw him one other time (Love and Marriage show). Every other activity or show on board, including the Quest game show was MC'd by his activities manager, Magic Marvin who was very good and in essence should have been our cruise director! 2) Shows were just ok on this cruise. Nothing very memorable or WOW, like we have had on previous RCCL cruises. First, Cats is just the wrong show to have on a cruise ship. I like musicals and I like Broadway plays and performances...this one was not right for a ship! The performers are great, but it's so hard to follow (and I know the play Cats!). Most people left after about 15 minutes and more than half the theater cleared out at intermission. My poor husband finally got to a point where he couldn't handle it anymore and we left about 30 minutes before it would have been over. We had an Abba tribute band on board for the headline show and they were great! The ice show, aqua show and other theater show were all good...just not really "over the top"! 3) This was our first experience with My Time Dining, and found that other than the first night all our MDR dining service was phenomenal. It was nice to have the ability to request the same waiter once we found a good one! Windjammer was a mad house anytime we attempted it there. We tried lunch once and dinner once. The rest of the times we either ate in the MDR for lunch, Johnny Rockets, Solarium Bistro or Wipeout Cafe for breakfast. 4) Our cabin steward also left very little to be desired. We never saw him the first day. I left notes for him regarding our little requests (ice, additional towels, new remote) and ran into him the morning of day two. Never saw him again the entire week. Our cabin wasn't really cleaned properly from the previous people who sailed the week before us. At one point I thought I dropped a contact and while my husband was on the floor looking for it he came across a couple toenails and some of those small rubber bands for braces. YUCK! However, the mattress pad that I had requested prior to our cruise was on the bed when we arrived. We found our bed very comfortable, but the pillows not so much! 5) Drinks/Bar service was very good. We both had the drink package and never had a problem waiting for a drink or finding the drinks weak. There was a little inconsistency with whether you get a receipt to sign or not. Honestly, I wish that for those who have the drink package that they would skip printing those receipts all together. It's just a waste of paper! We never added additional tips when ordering drinks, however at the end of the week we did give our favorite bar tender (the one we frequented the most in On Air) an envelope with cash in it. We were surprised to see that those monies we gave to him were also going to be split among the bar staff at that particular bar. 6)Embarkation and Debarkation were both probably the easiest we have ever done. I've always loved Port Canaveral, and miss that there is not a Freedom class sailing from there anymore. This is the second time we have cruised in May, and we will avoid this time in the future. It seems to be "rainy season" in the caribbean during May. No rough weather, just lots of cloud cover and off and on sprinkles and rain. All in all, we met some awesome people during the week, but this will most likely be our last Oasis class cruise. Freedom remains our favorite class with RCCL! Read Less

We chose this cruise because we wanted to go out of Port Canaveral which is closer to our home. The first thing that seemed strange was the lack of security at the port compared to Ft. Lauderdale. The ship is definitely showing it's age and needs to go to dry dock. The drawers in the room were falling apart. The shower had cold and then scalding water. We had the plumber come three times and gave up. The food was definitely not as good as it has been. The selections in the coffee shop are terrible. The service was excellent. We were compensated for the problems with the shower. The staff was definitely working to do a great job. They are seriously cutting corners. Some understandable like the charge for room service. Our favorite bar cookies that were in the spa area and sometimes in the coffee shop were gone. The food in the diamond lounge was pretty bad. Many of the new foods were just awful and I have always felt the food was satisfactory. I could always depend on the daily salmon selection, but I tried it twice and it was dried out and quite terrible. I'm afraid they might be going too far in cutting corners. Might have to change their name from "Royal" to "Mediocre". The casino is really tight as well. It used to be more fun. At least they let you win a bit so you could give it back. I always recommended RC but I think I might have to stop. Read Less

There are many cruise lines. We have cruised, NCL and Disney, but always wanted to see the Oasis of the Seas. OK..we've seen it. Although the ship has some pretty cool things, Central Park, a carousel at The Boardwalk and a good Promenade, I have never seen a ship that went so far out of its way to pretend it WASN'T at sea. The ship lacked areas at which guests could participate in...whatever... and enjoy the sea as well. (The exception was the pool deck.) There was a good variety of restaurants, but as far as quality, only Park 150 and Vintages stood out, although Izumi was very good. The talent for the evening shows was, by far, the best we have ever experienced on a cruise, although Cats, was only performed the first night due to illness, so we cannot comment on that. The last day/night, a show was put together and performed by four Cats' cast members and it was amazing, leaving us saddened that we were not able to see the musical. Daytime activities were few and disappointing, an observation with which a couple who were Pinnacle Members, concurred. Quite a few crew members seemed unhappy and unenthusiastic to be there. The ship needs to work on this. Another thing on which Royal Caribbean should ponder, the ship is in need of an overhaul...it's time for a bit of shipyard time to paint, remove rust and lubricate balcony sliders whose opening/closing sound could wake the dead. When this overhaul takes place I would suggest changing the tile in the areas that open to the open spaces of Centra Park and The Boardwalk, tiles were incredibly slippery due to humidity and the industrial fans that were placed to reduce this issue gave a less than elegant perception of the areas. The dust that had gathered on the silk greenery that could be seen through windows while drinking/dining at Central Park, had a thick fuzzy look to them...hard areas to reach, but again, lessening the feel of something being taken care of. Oasis of the Seas was nice...but we will not return, preferring the quality, service and enthusiasm on Norwegian. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it was the Oasis, out of Port Canaveral and the price was right for a balcony room. Easy on and off. Our room was available when we arrived on the ship around noon and we carried our own luggage off which made it very quick and easy. Had a ocean balcony room which is a must if you are able. Room size was adequate for 2 and the bed comfortable. We slept well every night on Deck 11. We liked our location on the front of the ship close to elevators. Easy up or down as needed. The ship is large and I rarely felt crowded with the exception of the casino. There are lots of entertainment, dining and shopping options. The main dining room service was good and the dinners were enjoyable. The selection was varied. Breakfast service in the dining room was not as good. The service was not great and the servers seemed to have an attitude and basically had a hard time providing what was requested. We ate in the dining room 3 times for breakfast, once had the buffet which was standard but good. We saw the headliner (Elvis) and the Come Fly with Me show, both were ok but nothing to rave about, although the tumbling and acrobats were good, singing..not so much. We also saw the Aqua show and although we had reservations it conflicted a bit with dinner and we were unable to get a decent seat. That show was a bit corny for us but the diving is cool. The late night comedians were very funny. We didn't use any shore excursions. We rented a car in .St. Maarten which gave us a chance to explore and dine locally .San Juan is was crowded and hot, I would have like to have had some more time in this port however. Labadee is a beautiful island but the rocks in much of the swimming area are annoying, Water shoes are highly recommended. It's rough to get into the water. We did not buy the drink package but we did buy drinks and although pricey, mixed drinks were good and the wine and beer selection decent. . We recommend the Globe and Atlas for a before dinner cocktail. We ate a Chop's Grille for lunch, the food was ok but the champagne served to me was flat. Although the server confirmed I would like my salad with my steak I had to ask about it once the steak was served and a some time went buy and the server seemed to have a bit of attitude about it. There were several instances like this where they had a hard time meeting the request. We ordered room service, wings and cheese steak. They called to confirm the mild buffalo wing order but delivered heavily sauced BBQ wings with too much red pepper flakes..an obvious attempt at substitution, inedible. They charged $2.50 for terrible and small amount of popcorn in the theater...really shameful. There were many little instances of sub par service and I would give service a B on this cruise. The ship itself gets an A. Read Less

This was our 7th RCCL cruise and did not live up to the expectations of the previous ones. Although dinner was fantastic every night breakfast and lunch in the dining room and Windjammer were awful, from mediocre service to cold, tasteless food. We were treated very rudely by the staff that seats you for My Time dining. Once we told them we would prefer not to sit with young children our request to be seated at a large table was denied and we were seated at a table for 2 for the entire cruise. We were shocked to find most services that had previously been included now required a surcharge, such as delivery charge to bring hot breakfast for room service ($7.95), etc. A $25.00 charge if you lose your towel, etc. You cannot not even get a glass of ice tea anymore once the main dining areas close unless you purchase the soft drink package. If you are a couple looking for a getaway be prepared because this is more a family ship, a great deal of kids on board and up until all hours. Our cruise had some heavy duty smokers as well and even on the top deck the smell of smoke hits you when the doors open. Another disappointment came as Emerald Class Crown and Anchor members, very few and far between benefits (some buy one, get one and delivery of (4) cookies one night and strawberries another. No captains parties at all.) We had previously been on Labadee and it had been a charming laid back beach experience. They have now built it up to more of a water park. Beware; several cruisers complained they did the zip line excursion over the water, charged $100.00 for the excursion, and it lasted less then 10 minutes. Also, make sure you reserve all your shows well in advance because it is very difficult to get a reservation once you are on board. It is a beautiful ship, very large and you will find plenty to do. We also enjoyed, St. Maarten, Puerto Rico and Labadee (you do have to walk a distance to get to a beach that you have not paid for). I will choose a different ship next time........ Read Less
