Traveled during Spring break with husband and 7 and 2 year old sons. Have been on many cruises (15-20), most recently Disney Fantasy. Stayed in Grand Balcony Suite. Ship is huge with lots of activities which cater more to teenagers in my opinion. It seems that because the ship has so many facilities RCL doesn’t see the need to provide as much onboard organized activities as they did in the past - relatively little live music for example, as one night a guitar player played for literally only 30 minutes. Nursery room was a plus - 2 yr old quite happy there - although my 7 year old far preferred the kids room on Disney and I heard another parent say the same about their child. Biggest complaint is that they aren’t equipped to handle this many passengers and don’t seem to have their act together- for example, you have to wait in line at mealtime, the 3 Purell dispensers at entrance to kids area were always empty, activities were canceled or rescheduled since the Planner was printed the night before and no one tells you. I caught a stomach virus and met another passenger who did too and it’s no wonder. Chops and 150 Park meals were very rushed and we had to wait about 10 minutes for my cocktail because whatever bar they went to “was backed up”. Hibachi was a bright spot and great experience. Suite was also a positive in that it was quite roomy, even for 4. Finally the ship is showing a lot of wear and tear. Back to Disney Fantasy for spring break next year. We won’t be back on Oasis. Second time on Oasis, fourth overall time cruising with RC. I was a loyal customer to RC, first two times cruising were on Freedom Class ships. Went on Oasis 2 years ago and had a blast, just back from Oasis, not pleased. So I'm going to jump around I'm sure while I type this out so I apologize. Lets begin with our first stop, the beautiful RC resort of Labadee. We never got off. Unfortunately, last minute the captain came over and said we were not going to be docking due to the waves coming over the pier right where its about to connect to land. We were no more than 25-30 feet away from the pier and ready to dock. I got up early to watch and was able to see the waves going over the pier, yes they were splashing over but it was not terrible. The forecast was for a sunny day. My complaint is, there was no waiting a little bit to see if things got better. I say this because the wind was dying down and the sun was supposed to come out. We just pulled back out and left, no explanation from the captain that the weather forecast was not favorable for the waves to die down in the near future. Just backed out of the port and left. Good news was we were going to get into Falmouth two hours early. Great, right? Wrong. We booked an excursion and due to the meeting time, would not have enough time to explore. You'd think since were going earlier, our excursion would be earlier right? Wrong. Prior to the new arrival time, we had accepted that exploring outside of the excursion time frame was not feasible. But with the new arrival time, we were initially excited but in the long end of it, didn't mean anything to people who booked excursions. We did the Dunns river falls and bamboo beach club excursion. yes it was neat to see the falls but you spend 1/4 of the day standing/sitting around waiting and a 1/4 of the day driving (that's understandable). Also to the two older Danish women who were on my bus and i hope read this, thanks for wasting 45 minutes of everyone's time trying on 10 pairs of water shoes, we should have left you on that island. FUN FACT: I was told from multiple people that Disney and RC were going to stop going to Falmouth and ending their contract or however they do it. Why? The island is supposedly dangerous (haha) and the people are very pushy. But due to the recent hurricanes and destruction of other ports, RC was "forced" to sign another two year contract. The last stop was Cozumel, which the captain said would be partly sunny. So we booked a last minute beach excursion because we missed the beach time at Labadee. It poured ALL DAY. So the frustration was high. Side note, if you do a beach excursion that includes alcohol, be weary of the bottom shelf tequila your served. You may find yourself basking in the sea enjoying your down pouring cloudy day, to gargling sea water and dying on your beach chair. (gotta make light of this all right?) Great i think that covers the ports. NEXT! RC i think cut out a lot of daily at sea activities compared to my time on Oasis two years ago. Which i have no idea why. But what they do have now for activities is still pretty good. Booked the comedy show for an at sea day online well before the cruise date because its impossible to get in if you don't. Well for some reason it never showed up when we got onto the ship. Went to guest services and they couldn't do anything because the shows now, were all booked. Very frustrating. Anyone going on this ship in the very near future, look at the air intake vent right above your cabin door inside the room. Use your flashlight on your phone so you can see inside the vent. Yes you will be breathing that all in on your trip. For those wondering, it was caked in dust and god only knows what else. It was absolutely disgusting. I don't blame the stateroom attendant because its clearly a HVAC persons job since then vent cover has screws that need to be undone to clean inside of it. That's definitely not the state room attendants job. Room was cleaned at least twice a day and have no complaints there, she did a great job. Dining room was great and staff were fantastic. Food was great in there. Windjammer cafe, well its buffet food, it was as good as buffet food will ever be. Bars were great but service on the pool decks was very slow, but then again those were at sea days and the weather was great so there was a lot of people on the decks getting lost in the sauce. Staff in general were great but did occasionally find a bartender who seemed grumpy, but with that many guests, I'm sure they had their fair share of impossible to please guests. If you decide to hang out in the the Solarium on one of those fantastic looking lounge chairs. Just be weary and double check them before you commit to that one. Many are old and sagging a lot, or even torn. Found myself on more than one occasion having to move because I was laying on top of the aluminum supports underneath the fabric. Not comfortable for a day you planned on relaxing. But last complaint for anyone who may not have noticed. The points on cruises from their older benefits tiers have changed. I have cruised 34 days in total and am somehow short one point to the next level above gold. I called RC and after a brief conversation consisting in short of me being told to pound sand, I still am a gold member, remember people I have cruised 34 days with them and am still in the first level. If i book another cruise with them, do i get to reap the benefits of the next tier after day one of my cruise? NOPE! I do not get to enjoy anything until the cruise after. For those of you who had made it this far reading the review, no I do not live close enough to a port to do a quick 3 day cruise with RC. All in all, it will be a very long time till I sail with RC again, if at all. Princess cruise lines, your up next, I've heard great things. Read Less

I have sailed on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines 3 Different times on 2 Ships. The Freedom of the Seas and The Mariner of the Seas. We loved them both. We thought The Oasis of the Seas would be even better ! WRONG, it was worse, much worse. Being a Gold Member didn't help the 2-1/2 hour wait in line to board, so much for Priority Check In. The very first thing we noticed was the overcrowded elevators. Many times we would have to wait for another elevator, they were packed with people. It didn't take long to figure out why we were always waiting in line. TOO many people for the ship's size! Mariner of the Seas had 16 elevators with a capacity of 3807 people. The Oasis has 24 elevators with 6680 capacity of people. WOW that is crowded. We never made reservations for the shows on any other cruise ship, but you have to on the OASIS. The Main Theater on the Mariner had 1348 seats, and the Oasis had 1380. No wonder we couldn't see all the shows. By the 2nd day when we found out we had to make reservations, well it was too late, we were told we would have to placed on standby for the shows, thus you don't see them all. The library was the smallest I have ever seen, plus there were hardly any books. The Windjammer Buffet, was so crowded it was a state of frenzy, which many times turned into yet another waiting line. If you wanted a seat around the pool area you better decide by 9AM or they are gone for the rest of the day. For a ship that is only 175 feet longer the size to capacity ratio is Way Off. Crowds and lines, not an atmosphere of relaxing but frenzy. After the 2nd day my wife and I knew we made a mistake. The dining, well the pastries had NO taste, however they looked good. Thats enough about the Oasis. Read Less

Western Caribbean. Unable to dock and get off in Haiti, security warnings in Jamaica and Cozumel so really never able to really "experience" the countries we were supposed to visit. Most excursions were cancelled. Cruise line needs to find alternate venues. Have had much better cruise experience with other cruise lines. Enjoyed seen Kennedy Space Center and visiting some family living in Florida. Ship was almost too big, large crowds making it hard to get into some of the shows and find seats together unless one of the first to get there. Ports are obviously owned by and kick backs to the cruise lines. Too many jewelry stores where we would have enjoyed other types of stores. Prices seem almost fixed. Have received much better bargains/bargaining in the actual cities with other cruises. Considered unsafe to go into town (out of port areas) in these countries. Cruise line really needs to find other venues and countries to visit where safety is not such a great concern. If we had known about the risks of the countries offered, would have picked a different cruise, certainly would never cruise with Royal Caribbean again. Read Less

We chose this ship for the ports of call and we didn't even get to set foot on the first location, haiti. The second, jamaica was great. but, we had to take our lives in our own hands to educate ourselves about the terroristic activities on our own because even after the american embassy in mexico was closed for safety concerns, the cruise staff directly lied to our faces and denied any problems with the ferry trips over to playa del carmen to participate in royal caribbean sponsored shore excursions. Only to wait and cancel all our pre-planned and pre-paid excursions to that area the night before. Although we did receive a refund of our money, all the comparable shore excursions were already booked full and the staff couldn't care less. there was a diamond in the ruff to be found amongst it all; his name was daniel and he worked in the tiffany & co. Boutique. He was the sweetest and genuine fella we met during the whole week. Not once did he poke his nose up at us in a snobby manner. In fact, this redneck girl's amazing husband just so happened to purchase a nice gift for me in that very store. Food was nothing to write home about. They definitely pushed the specialty dining over and over for another charge. We will give our business to a different cruise line next time. Read Less

Sailed on Harmony once before and thought this would be a good selection. It was "Sticky" everywhere. Like coke had been spilled on every surface. The hand Rails were nasty, The computer keyboards in the card room were unreadable because they letters were worn off. Chairs all over the ship were torn or damaged. The dining rooms were not able to feed everyone without long waits (except for the specialty restaurants). Drink packages were absurd price wise for soda/water. Took Shuttle from MLB to Port Canaveral which was better than port Everglades as far as convenience The water show on the ship was not near as good as Harmony. Because we did book a Junior Suite it made it easier to Embark and DisEmbark I don't really think RCCL can handle this many people and do a good job. I seriously doubt if we would consider cruising with them again. Read Less

The Windjammer cafe tables were ALWAYS sticky and dirty. It seems they are not cleaned besides light sweeping and the buildup of grime over the years is simply shocking! See my video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RKGet12Cjg The food was so-so, often bland and repetitive. Silk staff was professional and friendly, always smiling and ready to help. Windjammer staff seemed to have an attitude of an underpaid workers whose only form of protest is doing their job poorly. Few people were friendly (mainly a young man from Ukraine and several girls from Asia). There were, however, quite a few workers with grim or indifferent facial expression, especially those who brought new food or removed food at the end of the meal. Ice cream was almost always too melted, it was rather a milkshake than ice cream. The room was VERY CLEAN and I'm pleased with that. Not enough entertainment for people who don't like modern annoying music. And not enough cozy places where one who want a quite, pleasant and relaxing atmosphere, without being constantly disturbed and annoyed with rap and the cacophony of other whining so-called "music". I'm not old, but I don't like modern "music", and I'm sure there are many people like this. I've seen a lot of elderly people on this ship and I'm not sure an average grandma would appreciate this modern "music" and all that whining as if there's dog in heat! All in all, I would not take another Royal Caribbean cruise, although I have already bought and paid for an European cruise this coming summer, so I'm stuck... I don't think I would want to cruise with this company again. Read Less

Traveling with a group that scheduled this cruise 2 years ago. The only really good things were the embarkation & disembarkation! While the lines were long during embarkation, it went smoothly & didn't take long. Disembarkation was a breeze because we choose to drag our bags - in line about 530am - on the road by 7am! Cabin #12-178: reminded me of a very old motel room - couch was stained, run down that we would not sit on - only 2 drawers to put stuff - could hardly get to the closet to hang our things - rug was dirty - we had to wipe down the railings on the balcony, hair from last cruise! Dining: our waiters were the best thing about the cruise!!! 1st sitting, table 905 - they did their best to make up for a very limited menu - same dull sides every night - meat was either over cooked or raw - you could only order med rare or med well - took your chances on how it would appear on your plate - my wife ordered med well & it came out raw! fish was under cooked - must have had lots of shrimp, if you ordered 1 your got 2!!! Service Desk: We were told because of the "new" ship being launched RC had taken the "experienced" staff to man that ship - some of our entertainment was cancelled due to weather - ok - but we were never told when it had been rescheduled - entertainment staff would contact us about reschedule - never did, but when we went back to the service to check, we were told "someone" had called & talked to us, it was in the computer - we never talked to anyone & was told if it was in the computer, it must have happened!! It was like we were called lairers!!! Shore excursions: we understand that the area is still recovering, but only 5 hours in port does not give you a lot of time to do things! Longest time, all day, at the RC island! Bottom line: it will be hard to get us to go back to RC, 2nd cruise with them - 1st on Freedom was so much better - way to many people for us! Read Less

We have been on different cruise lines in the past which were amazing and so we were very excited and looking forward to this cruise. Sadly, it was such a disappointment. The cabin was dingy and in need of repairs. Not nearly as nice as cabins that we've stayed in on other cruise lines such as Celebrity and Carnival. The food was probably the biggest let down. We had other cruises to compare the food to and this cruse fell way short. The last dinner I could tolerate in the Grande dining room was when my fish was under cooked. Rock hard dinner rolls and night after night of the same sides of bland mash potatoes left us dreaming of when we would be eating at home again. Believe me, I wish I could have written a better review. We saved for this cruise and it's not like we wanted to complain. I will never recommend this cruise line to any of my friends. Read Less

This was my 6th cruise with RCI, and was my first and last time on Oasis. I was hoping the bigger ship would be better, but this is definitely not the case. The short version is that there are 6,300 passengers on there with you, so you have to wait in line for EVERYTHING. From the start, the embarkation line was ridiculously long. An hour and a half waiting in the security line just to start the check-in process. Thankfully, the Platinum status line was short so we zipped right thru the check-in once we passed thru security...but if you didn't have status with RCI, you were going to wait another hour+ in the check-in line. Some Pros and Cons: Pros: ------ - The ship is huge! There's so much to see. The different neighborhoods are definitely pretty cool. - Little known Sun Deck on level 14 with two binocular stations. We didn't find this until the last day and it was a really nice spot to watch the sunset. - Shows are top notch. - Little wonders scattered throughout the shop - We had a balcony room and this was amazing. - Bar staff were excellent - Elevators. I've always thought elevators on the other ships were too slow and Oasis does a pretty good job handling the amount of people with their elevator system. Cons: ------ - Food. The main dining room and Windjammer food was just not the same quality that I've come to expect. I've been on 6 other cruises and Oasis was by far the worst. It was definitely edible food, but lacked selections and quality compared to other cruises. Windjammer had the same food choices for lunch every day. I'll admit, I'm being picky on this one. - Service was highly lacking on this cruise ship. Again, I've been on several cruises so I've come to expect a certain level of service from the hotel and dining room staff. Our room wasn't cleaned at all on the first day. MDR staff was extremely slow. Windjammer staff was slow to replace empty entrees, slow to clean up tables and when they did, tables were still sticky. Gross. - Making reservations for shows. I understand the need, but it really takes away from the experience. - Overcrowding. People are everywhere you turn. - Lack of entertainment options. For me, the idea of a "sales event" does not appeal to me and probably half of the events listed on the daily cruise compass were some stupid sales thing. You'd think with 6000+ people, there would be a ton of different events, but this was just not the case. This was the first cruise where I experienced boredom and watched TV for a little while. - Bombarded with upsells. 5+ TV messages per day trying to get you to buy something. Also got voice mails in our room trying to sell something. We actually were approached by someone while we were eating lunch in the Windjammer and they were trying to sell us a dinning package. This really left a bad taste for me. - Windjammer is not big enough for this ship. It's smaller than the other ship's WJ, but now we have twice as many people trying to eat there. We tried eating at WJ for dinner and we actually had to wait for 20 minutes and had an assigned table. First time seeing anything like that before. - I thought with a bigger ship, we'd feel the sea less. This was DEFINITELY not the case. We felt every swell and I think Oasis has issues with it's stabilizers. It wasn't just the ship rolling...it was like it was stuttering, rocking back and forth, each time the ship would list to the side. It was like rainman rocking back and forth constantly...it was weird. As a disclaimer, if I had not experienced the quality of any other RCI ships before, this probably would have been an outstanding cruise. Fortunately, I have experienced several other RCI cruises in the past so I had expectations on the service and quality of food. Oasis is not the ship for me, and I'll definitely stick to smaller ships going forward. Read Less
