Overall, I rated this cruise a six. The Aqua Show, Come Fly With, Trivia, and Karioki were fun. The food was good I’m the dining Room, but the bar service im there was awful. The food at the Windjammer was bland and barely edible. We did not try any of the specialty restaurants as we felt we were paying enough. Late night food options were scarce. Better like pizza. That’s what we subsisted on for the week. Thankfully, it was good. The big problem with our cruise was our children’s interior stateroom. My oldest, 20, is allergic to mold and mildew and was rendered incapacitated after three nights in his room. He was coughing and spitting blood. I knew the room smelled funny when we first arrived but didn’t realize the severity of the situation. After three nights, my husband traded rooms (he has no allergies, lucky dog) and my son was fine in the room with me. The only solution offered to us was that they wiped down the surfaces with vinegar and water. A full mold eradication is necessary for that room. There were many nice things that were a part of our cruise and many excellent crew members. I don’t know that we would sail on a ship that big again. It seemed that the Oasis was showing her age. The good:. Excellent crew. Neat ship to explore. Excellent entertainment. We were surprised how good cats was. Every port had a dock, so we didn't have to endure a tender to shore once. The bad:. Cost cutting and schemes to extract money from customers diminishes the experience. Food is poor. Desserts are obviously from the cheapest supplier they could find. Everything you purchase has an additional 18 percent fee. Need clothes washed? That will be $3.50 for each t-shirt. Want it today? Add another 50%. Want to take those pictures you just paid $100 for home? Buy this $20 folder. Room service? $8. After getting on the ship, you are attacked with various things to buy. Each with a carefully designed cost structure to get you to spend more. Four different photographers wanted to take the same pictures of us at one dinner. We hoped the app would allow us to communicate with text messages. We weren't able to get it running on iOS or Android. Watch for changing prices. We would have saved $900 if we waited a week to book. Read Less

Three years ago we were on the Freedom and we had a great time. We thought we would go on the Oasis since it is supposed to be this great ship. We made it focus of our vacation goal. We had seen it in other ports so when we got to the pier it wasn't a big dead to see it, but it is rather big. Embarkation went real well. 6,575 people to get on and really not a line to be found. We were one of the first groups to get on and we headed right to lunch in the Windjammer. Decent selection of food. When i went to go sit down my chair cushion was severely damaged. There was a chunk missing and a long slit. I only mention it because it was one of the first impressions I got from the ship. We at lunch at went out and looked around until 1 p.m. when our room was ready. We explored and we found the elevators are not as "accurate" as they should be. They could not be trusted. You can press the button, you may or may not get there. There as times where you would get on an elevator and it would go up. Stop at 5 stops and with the 6th stop lit up it would skip it and go back down. The elevators became a joke between the passengers. We still kept taking them but every trip was an adventure. The buttons are back lit with blue and just barely a brighter blue when they are selected. We did like our balcony. We were on the AFT by the water shows. Great views, no need to get tickets for the water show! They were really pushing for passengers to download the app to reserve shows, activities, etc. I went through and planned my week. I looked for movies i wanted to see, we had our shows scheduled. We were assigned late seating but we decided to go to early and find a table. It seemed to really confuse our waiter. I am thinking he was new and just did not understand what was going on or something. He was slow and just wasn't that good. Nothing in particular but just wasn't what i was used to on ships. Second day, we were in the Bahamas. We were all set for our snorkeling excursion. We could tell it was going to rain and we were delayed waiting to go. Then the rain started. We rushed under a canopy. Turned out to be side to side rain, so much for seeking cover/ After waiting for 30 minutes the tour group cancelled the excursion. We headed back onto the ship. We though there might be something on the ship to do. For some reason we expected there to be some activities scheduled on the ship. There wasn't. The crew was doing a safety drill. We found it interesting how much the crew did not know what their roles were during the drills. Maybe we just got a bunch of new staff. There was some that did not know if they were the leader or not, some did not know what their role would be, or their secondary role. It was almost surreal. Off to early dinner again, we were seated and this time Jose was our waiter. He was so much better than the previous night's waiter. It was great. Things were starting to look up. Tuesday was a sea day. I went off to the Cruise Critic meet and mingle. I think we had somewhere around 35-40 sign up to go. 8 showed up. Everyone got two prizes. There was no talk from the crew, they just handed out prizes and left. Then we headed off to our guacamole class. The class was a cluster. The lady starts by saying saying the lady that normally teaches the class is in training. The lady somewhat tried but she had clearly never done it before. When it was over we had no idea on how to make guac on our own. She made it and never went over portions. She did go over ingredients but she talked so softly we dont know what she said. I could go on an on. The bottom line is they made it up to us with strawberries sent to the room and a free dinner at the Mexican restaurant. Looking back with as much as was cancelled this cruise they really should have cancelled the class. We were offered a free dinner in Sabor to make up for it. We did a few activities and even took a nap at one point. We ended up going to our assigned seating and turns out we had fantastic staff. John and Jing Jing were great. They were so good that we never tried to go first seating again. The first water show was cancelled but they were going to put it on anyway. There was a performer that was hurt and I am thinking she wanted to see if she could the show. It was fun to watch. They kept the late show scheduled and preformed that one. It is a good show. We were excited to see the rest of their shows during the week. Little did we know at the time that would be the last show that would happen on the ship. I am lost in the way they were all cancelled but the pool had hydraulic fluid leak into it and had to be fixed. They cleaned it all up only to have it happen again. Cats and the other show which name eludes me at this moment but they were cancelled because of a broken part that would put the performers at risk. turns out we were just unlucky I guess. Wednesday was St. Thomas day. We went up to Mountain Top and i do recommend it the view was fantastic. It really was. On the way up you can still see how much damage last year's hurricanes did. Power was fully restored just 3 months ago. Thursday was St. Marteen. We headed to the beach and had a great time. We were there 18 months ago and the damage here was pretty bad as well. Most of the stores were open and the water was great. It was lobster night for dinner. I do have to say it was one of the better ship lobsters i have ever had. They were full lobster tails. On Freedom we had half tails. The next two days were sea days. At this point it became apparent that the Royal App was not being updated once things were cancelled. Items that were listed just did not happen. Movies that were scheduled werent playing, etc. Oddly enough there was a couple of what was called "misprints" in the Compass. Things scheduled for Saturday were listed in Friday's Compass. Really left me scratching my head to tell you the truth. We did go to trivia and dance lessons and a couple of other items. Oddly enough, they seemed to schedule them in rooms too small for what showed up to participate. We went to Chops for lunch. It was good food. The lobster bisque in the MDR is not real good. I dont think there is any cream in it at all. I even found a shell in mine. Anyway, dont go to Chops to get Lobster Bisque for lunch or a baked potato. The sides were the worst thing on the menu but i guess thats a good thing for a steak restaurant isnt it? The desserts were on par with the MDR. I had finished my steak pretty fast adn the waiter asked me if there was something wrong with my plate. My wife replied "there isnt a steak on it!" He brought me a second one! The sauces that went with the steak were great as well. Day 7 was probably our best day of the cruise. We enjoyed the day. Too bad it was day 7. Guess there wasn't much more they could cancel was there? Oh wait, we went to the Martini class and instead of there being 7 or 8 people like they wanted there was only 5. So they cancelled the class. However, this one worked out for us as the bartender stuck around and gave us a couple of samples. Not the full class but we did get a couple of free martinis. Sunday arrived and it was time to go. My brother picked us up so we hung out in the MDR until he was close enough. We walked straight out to his car - stopping at customs of course - right when he got there. The lobster tails on night 6 were some of the best i have ever had. I wont tell you had many i had. I think one of them was less than spectacular. All in all it was ok - the ship lacked a special WOW factor that was promised by Royal. I doubt we even think about going on the Oasis class again. The cancellations really hurt. On a ship there is always something to do but when everything you want to do keeps getting cancelled or in the case of the guac class should have been cancelled, it takes the wind out of your sail. The employees were for the most part all very excellent. Read Less

We chose this cruise to travel with family to celebrate our sons 21st and our daughters 18th birthdays. The ship is amazing and we loved the Central Park area, the food was of a high quality in all venues. Our main disappointment was the entertainment. Before travelling we had booked all the high end shows to ensure we saw them, unfortunately all of them were cancelled idue to technical difficulties, with little or no notification. This included the diving show, Comd fly with me and Cats. Whilst we appreciate things can go wrong and health and safety must be taken into consideration, we feel that in a premium ship they should have back up plans and better alternative entertainment. The alternative entertainment that was laid on was sub standard, with out of tune singers. Despite speaking to Guest services twice and Miami and been promised a call back we are still waiting. Stops: 1. Nassau. Short stop - only 9-2:30. Expensive, disappointing excursion to Atlantis waterpark. 2. St. Thomas. Shore time 10-6:30 - yay. Did snorkeling trip, which was ok (to Christmas Island, not many fish, don't recommend for snorkeling, but trip was otherwise fun). Had lunch. Didn't explore island too much. 3. St. Maarten. Shore time 8:30-4:30. Easy to get to main beach/shopping area. Did island tour - recovering from hurricane. Entertainment: 1. Many shows were cancelled - all citing technical difficulties - no other explanation. At beginning of trip, they were rescheduled, then at end, you just couldn't do the show. Didn't get to see "Cats" musical or Aqua diving show as a result and had those times free with no other reservations as a result. Really disappointed. From a previous cruise, I remember enjoying nightly shows. 2. Fun game show events. 3. Line to get bingo cards super long - didn't do as a result. 4. Casino - decent. Enjoyed $5 blackjack from 12-1 pm on sea days. Otherwise $10. No free drinks. 5. Festive parades/parties on Royal Promenade. 6. Didn't go to the night clubs. Zzzzz. Pool: 1. 4 pools - 1 kid, 1 sport (general use some of the time), 1 general use, 1 "adult" (age 16+). Adult pool way too small. Loved the solarium - "adult" only area with shade. 2. Lots of hot tubs. Too hot though to lounge for a long time. Recommend truly adult only hot tubs - not 16+. 3. I wasn't at the pool a lot, but I was never waited on while there. 4. Towel checkouts not open a lot and inconvenient when they were (like towel station furthest from hot tub area was open at night??) 5. As with other cruises, pools not easy to enter. Straight down ladders, not walk in steps. 6. Smoking along most of one side of deck. Annoying. Obviously a plus for smokers. 7. Didn't do flow rider or zipline. Went to look at them and was surprised that lines weren't long when I was there in late afternoon. Dining: 1. Enjoyed main dining room - service was great, food was good. We did "my time" dining, which we found out works best if you make a reservation, otherwise can be long line/wait. Suggest main dining area for breakfast/lunch too instead of Windjammer cafe, the buffet restaurant, which I didn't like at all. 2. Definitely go to Central Park Cafe for lunch. Order at counter. Limited choices (salads, paninis, desserts), but the food was great. 3. Only specialty restaurant we did was Johnny Rockets, which was $10 for as much as you wanted on menu (shakes, drinks extra). Were going to Sabor Mexican for lunch but didn't because of no a/c. Went across to Johnny Rockets, which has a small indoor area with a/c - otherwise outdoor seating. Too dang hot to be outdoor for a length of time. 4. Pizza ok. Promenade cafe ok - great for snacks. Wipeout cafe ok - near pool with pizza, burgers, hot dogs. Burgers meat was mysterious. 5. Got all you can drink soda option. Needed more self-service coke machines than they had. But used it lots. Shopping: 1. Didn't shop much. Would have if shops had longer hours. Didn't think there were enough souveneir/general convenience shopping choices. 2. Lots of upscale shopping if that's you're thing. Cabin: 1. Had Central Park balcony room. Really liked it. We were on floor 14, 1 level below pool, so had view of pool out window and Central Park looking down. I would open the sliding door a crack and listen to the music from above or below. Cabin was fine. Bed comfortable. TV channels very limited. 2. No plug ins near bed for computer/cell phone charging. 3. Cabin attendant nice and good service. 4. Didn't try room service (extra cost). Spa: 1. I went to a ladies' pamper party. That was annoying with long waits for the products. But they offered a couple specials to the attendees. I booked a massage/facial combo special (75 mins. for $119), and it was really good (booked next day because line to book was also long...). The spa was nice. This was my second cruise ever. Overall, it was ok. I don't like lines, and cruises are really a sequence of lines - travel, in general is, I guess. Whatever they can do to not seem like an assembly line is a plus. I think the only place it didn't feel that way was in the main dining area. It actually felt like personal service. The cabin attendant knowing your names and talking to you also felt personal. I was disappointed in the island stops, especially the first one which was way too short/rushed. It's just hard to have the beach/island experience on a day stop. The ports were cookie cutter with the same shops on each island. The entertainment was the main disappointment, having "Cats" cancelled on the last day, when there were only a few showings of it altogether. The diving show was cancelled many times. And the staff attitude about the cancellations was annoying - "technical difficulties beyond our control". Well, if the pool cleaning system isn't working, and you have a week to fix it, that is in your control. If the sound system in the theatre wasn't working (a guess), that was in your control. There wasn't any reasonable explanation given. You also weren't notified unless you were in a public area when they announced a cancellation. Just really handled poorly. Read Less

We choose this cruise because of the shows offered and the special things offered for celebrating Important occasions. All shows...not just one but all shows...were cancelled and even after calling customer service about the missing things promised nothing was provided. There was no follow up on any missing items...Not a company of their word. The wait staff in the main dinning room was excellent. And the Promenade provided lots of places to grab a yummy snack or shop. There was pizza. And great small sandwiches not to mention super deserts. If you needed an extra cup of coffee in the morning before you faced the rest of the day that was also there for you to enjoy. There were lots of places to shop for lovely jewelry and watches. The art gallery and auctions were interesting and a true learning experience. The casino was fun for late night if you like to gamble or try and beat the odds. Our cruise was not a disaster but it was a disappointment because the reasons we chose Royal Caribbean were not available or followed thew on. Read Less

Having cruised many times before usually with Princess or Royal Caribbean, we were extremely disappointed with the food apart from in the speciality restaurants. The food was ALWAYS lukewarm, it was never piping hot unless in the speciality restaurants. The quality of the food slipped quite dramatically on this cruise in comparison to others. Also, the shows in the theatre, comedy club etc were practically impossible to reserve - we couldn’t get into any that we wanted to, so I was very disappointed with the entertainment (as I couldn’t get to see most of it!) Ship very clean, staff were excellent, staterooms were ok , speciality restaurants were fantastic & pools very overcrowded. We only had standing room in the pools. Plenty of sun beds available even when getting to the deck late. You have to book all shows & speciality restaurants before the cruise or on the first day otherwise you won’t get what you want. embarkation took us close to hour mostly to get through security and we arrived around 12 pm. Once through security check is went very fast! Main dining room was just ok food not great, we don’t expect our food to be cold after waiting so long and it was bland and the variety has been cut way down. We think Royal has now so many specialty restaurants with better food as they want you to pay high up charges for decent food now Service generally good at all the bars which we appreciated however so slow In The main dining room, almost 2 hours for dinner is way toooo long and waiting hour for your main course is ridiculous. Also totally dislike moving early dining time to 5:30 this is way too early! On service if Royal is going to have prepaid or automatic gratuities then service should be great and lt lacked and many workers would tell us “show the love” extra tipping on top of almost $300 in tips for a couple for week is a bit steep. Windjammer way too small I think it sears like 700 when there’s 6500 on board. Also should have omlette stations in windjammer. Also should be open till 11pm as there aren’t many eating options after 8:30 at night which stinks. Pizza is open till 3am but don’t want pizza every night, no hot dogs, burgers, ice cream, salads etc at night except same sandwiches with weird cheese in promenade or pizza and lines are long. How about offer breadsticks etc with the pizza no just pizza. Definitely needed more night food options after 9pm and we never got through to room service and this was our first cruise where there is charge for room service. Casino is big which we enjoyed; dealers nice; many 21 machines broken and the slots tight never saw one winner. Needs more TVs in here at casino bar to watch sports etc TV in rooms were ridiculous like one news channel #kids channel sport channel and movie channel. Need more tv stations or why have tv. Pool lacked activities or tables and chairs. All tables were in smoking area none in non smoking. No food options at all by pool. Never heard or saw cruise director. No line dancing etc by pool no fun games or activities. Rest of the cruise was very nice, room was kept clean could have been a bit cooler since its Caribbean in July. Overall great ship but needed improvements in service, food quality, food options especially late night; and deck parties, night parties etc if you expect to just pay your cruise rate think again so many more charges results I. We had large group from 4-80! Embarkation-we arrived at noon prime time and it took an hour before we made it on the boat mostly the line for security is what took so long, check in was a breeze! Main Dining Room - biggest disappointment, poor service and long time waiting for our main meals which came out cold and bland. Food was just ok, poor quality and not enough variety. With a large group we look forward to having sit down dinner every night together but this was our biggest disappointment! Also didn't like the move to 5:30 for dinner instead of 6pm yes 1/2 hour makes a difference when lots of activities or excursions or port days go late and you have to cut your day short at 4pm to get dress for such early dinner and then later if your hungry theres not much to have thats open. Windjammer - very good but should have a made to order egg station, however if you came for breakfast after 9:30 long lines for a table other times too, this obviously needs to be bigger for the 6700 plus passengers on board! We did have breakfast at the solarium smaller breakfast buffet but the scrambled eggs were runny and not good and there was no omelette station when we went. Food overall was ok not blown away but at night there were limited options, pizza and the same cafe promenade sandwiches get old in 7 nights. We tried room service late one night and called twice they never answered and by the way Royal now charges for room service! Seems that all the good quality food is in their many specialty restaurants that you have to pay ridiculous up charges and 18 percent gratuity. Don't understand why boardwalk hotdogs close at 6 pm or park cafe!! Theres no late midnight buffet or dessert like past years so basically after 8:30 theres not much to chose from. Promenade is very nice but high end shops, wish they had more affordable shopping! Bar service was always very good and friendly especially at the pool bars, casino bar and champagne bar. Drinks were very good! Activities - not as much deck parties, group dancing etc as our last carnival cruise, plus no pool activities or fun and only one day of a live pool band, this is where Carnival has Royal beat. Royal had very few fun group actitivites and we never saw or heard much from the cruise director. Live bands were scarce at night or fun games. Shows - could have better shows and the comedy shows if you didn't have reservation forget it! Such a small venue they should do the comedy in larger showroom as many people never got to see it. There should be more fun shows for adults too felt most of the shows tended towards children and variety. Instead of the plays such as Cats that was so long and hard to figure out what was going on maybe have some good concerts, magic or more comedy shows etc. Other activities like flowrider, zipline etc were always long lines in hot sun so we opted out. Temperature - felt the boat was always warm, the ac never seemed to cool things off! Boardwalk balcony Cabin was small and bathroom smaller but our room steward kept it clean and nice! It was also very quiet no problems with noise! TV was horrible almost all about the cruise, why have satellite for internet etc and then have like 3 channels mostly news and sports, I need TV to fall asleep so this was a bummer. Casino - several of the 21card machines were broken the entire cruise, wish they had lower table limits this is a cruise not vegas where are the $3 or $5 tables cruises are for fun not about the big rollers and the craps table they need more and lower limits to play!! Ports - only 3 our of 7 days and San Juan was only 1/2 day! St marten was great, loved it and Labadee is always a fun beach day but the bars there were slammed and had to wait long for a drink also the buffet lunch lines were so long we gave up! The people that sell in the market shouldn't be allowed to be so harassing, sticking bracelet on your hand then demanding payment etc Royal shouldn't allow that, we would buy more if we weren't so harassed and bothered in the market. Kids Club - was great for kids 4 and 5, they loved it, good job Royal on this Oasis is a beautiful ship but Royal continues to cut services and food quality and up the prices for everything now Johnny Rockets comes to over $10 pp and that doesn't include shakes, room service is over $10, Starbucks, Ben & Jerrrys, cheap popcorn, cotton candy all extra and they seem to keep adding more and more specialty restaurants and the per person charges for those keep going higher and higher while the free food venues lack in food quality and service and thats the reason we always cruised, plus cut down on many activities, deck parities, late night buffets, live music etc. used to think it was a good value to cruise but not thinking that anymore! Its become very expensive!! Read Less

Cruise Line, Ship and ports of call were the main reason we booked this cruise. Kids club for an 11 y/o boy is in adequate. Hardly any activities that would hold his interest and were not age appropriate. My 11 y/o does not want to color, and be indoors for all activities, he was very bored, and did not want to go. Upgraded to a suite, (GS, Rm 6254) and yet suite perks were not worth the upgraded fee. Toilet over flowed at 3am, shower and tub broken first night. Open bar 5-8 and final day disembarkation was best thing going. Food was very below average. Johnny Rockets and Sabor cover charges on top of what you have already paid for within your fare are not worth the quality of food. Chops used to be the very greatest, and now is just average. Never once walked away from a meal saying how good it was. Coastal Kitchen for suite guests had better breakfast (worth avoiding lines at buffet) but dinners were same as dining room. Ice Cream is limited and not open 24/7 anymore. Pizza is the only late night food available. Outdoor activities should not be limited to adults only. There should be more for pre-teens, and teens under 16. Kids playing had to leave the courts for adults, which is right, however, kids would also like to have the same games offered for them to play as well, and they were not. No water offered to those on back of the ship playing activities in the evening. Bar and café is closed, and there is no water left for those playing, not even a water fountain available. Spa is average. Only offers a spa pass for a week to a limited number of guests. These amenities are not even offered to guests having spa services preformed, so it is either buy the pass or miss out all together. This pass only includes access to the thermal suite (sauna, warm ceramic lounge chairs, and steam rooms) and the spa is not an elaborate spa with whirlpools. The asst. spa manager is almost rude, as well as the lady that showed us around. If you didn't book then, they talked about you when you walked away, mind you, we had four spa services booked between the two of us. (I know this because my husband walked back and could over hear them talking.) Barfefoot Beach that is offered to suite guests is very inconvenient if you have children participating in any of the activities. The beach itself is not cleaned when guests leave, and bar service is only offered to guests that purchased a cabana. Guests that leave towels, and empty drinks get left there all day as nobody is picking up after the chairs are vacated. Read Less
