I would call the theme of this cruise "technical difficulties". It seemed to be an ongoing thing for the Oasis. You would think this was her maiden voyage with the annoyances and issues we dealt with so this is our last voyage with Royal Caribbean. The staff was very hit and miss on friendliness and efficiency. It felt like they were working out the kinks of a new ship/new staff/new everything when I know this was not the case. Embarkation was like a long line of cattle. Disembarkation was chaos as usual but once they actually let us off the ship and we found a porter, life was easier. I highly recommend you find a porter if you have more than carry on luggage. Totally worth the tip. The shows were late until our last two days at sea which is frustrating if you have small children and don't want to pay extra for childcare "after hours". I would have loved to go to a comedy show on the ship but they held it in a tiny room that only held a small amount of people and every one of those shows started late in the evening. Highlights: -Kids loved Adventure Ocean. Especially my three year old. The Voyagers class was a bit rambunctious and out of control at times though. -Our room steward was good and kept our room tidy and clean. -Our waiter and assistant waiter in the dining room were attentive and entertaining. Dinner was good. It is always nice to be served steak every night. haha -Shore Excursions to St Thomas and St Martin were lovely as always. Those beaches are gorgeous. Lunch was good at Abi Beach and . -Cleanliness. I am a huge clean freak because I am a self admitted germaphobe. I love that they are waiting for you outside the dining rooms with hand sanitizer. I love the reminders to wash hands. I love seeing them cleaning things constantly. Huge plus for me. Lowlights: -Our MyTime dining was messed up and instead of 6pm dining we were reassigned (after a couple visits to guest services and speaking to the person in charge of dining) to 5pm. A big difference when you were looking forward to taking advantage of having your children picked up at 6:40 by childcare staff so you can catch up with family. -Trying to turn off gratuities took 4 visits to guest services. That line was constantly long so I know we weren't the only guests with issues. -Finding answers to any questions took visits to multiple staff members who often had different answers. I was sent to 4 different locations on this huge ship just to buy a pair of goggles for my child. -Navigating this ship is NOT easy in inclement weather if you are not familiar with it. They don't put extra signs in this case. Good luck getting from one end of the ship to the other for meals on time when portions are closed off on the first day. -There seemed to be technical difficulties with many shows, performances, and entertainment. Cats, Come Fly with Me, line dancing by the pool, live bands, character performances....these were all affected on our cruise. Instead of rescheduling, they would just not do it. No notice or announcement really. Just oh well it isn't happening. -Seeing the characters was a big draw for my children but actually making it in time to see them was an issue as they were either late or would leave after 5-10 minutes. -Food choices in the Windjammer were not what I was expecting this go around. Not as kid friendly for my picky eaters as I recall from our last cruise years ago. The chaos of the Windjammer is even worse on a ship this large. -I felt similar activities were all within the same time frame meaning things I would enjoy would be lumped together and then I would have nothing to choose from. -Getting water to drink on this ship felt like an impossible task at first. They REALLY want you to buy that soda package. I got so frustrated, I called room service for ice water one night because I wasn't walking across the ship for a cup of water to take medication. You would think ice was an impossible commodity to come by. -The amount of unattended children on this cruise was astounding. I guess curfews are not enforced and the staff doesn't do anything about young children roaming and being left in pool areas alone. This was a huge annoyance to many guests I spoke with as well as my own family. Kids were running up and down the halls at all hours. -I don't drink but my husband was very unhappy with the bar service. Drinks were poorly made for the price you pay. Many were made incorrectly and although drinks would be listed on the menu, bartenders would say they did not know how to make them and send you to another bar. It seems the staff is not well trained in many areas. -They didn't have enough people to run all the activities on the ship. Only one rock climbing wall was ever open although they boast two. Using the flow rider was hit or miss on how many were staffing it. They would sometimes divide it and you could do two at a time but instead of letting people go who had been waiting, they would let people who had already gone get in the new line. -Snack options were non-existent if you don't like pizza. Everything else closed in the afternoon. -The smoking area is by the pool. It was super windy so the entire pool area smelled like smoke. Not what I wanted to be exposed to all the time much less my children. - Due to inclement weather we could not stop in Nassau and went to San Juan which wouldn't have been so bad if we didn't get to Puerto Rico at 6pm and leave at 11pm. That is not ideal for those of us with small children. I feel like some shows or something on the ship could have been offered during that time. -Quite a few pieces of cardio equipment were out of order. I know...who works out on a cruise? Well apparently a lot of people who don't follow the 30 minute rule when others are waiting. Overall our family (11 total people, 6 adults and 5 children) enjoyed our experience on Navigator of the Seas a few years ago much more. The kids had fun but adults were sorely disappointed in the Oasis. Bigger is NOT always better. Too many people on this ship and it is not laid out well. On a side note: Does Royal Caribbean have the worst website ever or is it just me? It was nearly impossible to actually do anything through the website and my husband and I are both pretty tech savvy people. We often had to call someone who would then direct us to use the website or would have trouble with it themselves (again with the technical difficulties). The most ironic part of the cruise was when they gave us a survey to complete the last night of the cruise and we could do it at any of the computers on the ship. I went to complete it and of course could not due to technical difficulties. What a way to end that cruise. At least my kids enjoyed it..... Read Less

We have sailed on 25+ cruises, across many lines. This was our first time on Oasis Class. We loved the many options for people to gather and to explore; no huge bottleneck of people everywhere. I will say, our cabin could have been cleaner when we arrived; but, our steward was responsive and friendly. We avoided the buffet, it was an absolute madhouse. Options for free dining are limited as main dining room hours are short. We had a junior suite so we had dinner in the Coastal Kitchen, however we had to knock on the door as only 'true suite' key cards open the door. This made us feel like we were the riff-raff and 2nd class; but we had a fabulous waiter, Mark, who made us quickly forget about it. The shows were amazing, especially the diving and the ice shows, and I typically do not enjoy the entertainment onboard. Any vacation is what you make it, we had a great time aboard The Oasis of the Seas. Read Less

Ship is wonderful, but can't handle all the people. To many lines, to many missed events because main dining can't handle the service. I would score this cruise a 3- on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being the best. I will not go on this ship or any ship of these class and size. I felt on was in a crowded city. I will say the food was excellent and the entertainment as well, of those we were able to attend because of the 2 1/2 hour dining..We went at 5:30 and could not get out until 8:00 unless we just left to get to the shows we booked. Very frustrating. Clubs opened late for dancing should be earlier. Kid s in adult venues, to many private events taking up space. Not enough dining rooms open to handle over 6400 passengers. We will be going on Freedom class or smaller in future, the experience was much better. Read Less

We were with a group of over 300 on this cruise, most of us seasoned cruisers , who wanted to experience the wonders of this ship.It is large, the neighborhoods are very interesting, and the entertainment was top shelf. Our balcony stateroom was sparse with minimal storage, no toiletries or ice bucket. Attempting to get to dinner or a show from deck 8 was almost impossible. On more that one occasion, we waited for over 10 minutes to squeeze into an elevator, only to be faced with long lines to the dining room. The food choices were limited, and salt seemed to be the answer for flavor. The spinach ravioli was excellent, but most of the food was inferior to that on previous experiences on smaller Royal or Celebrity ships. The Park Cafe in Central Park offered a nice option with limited choices. The walking track is covered, which is a plus, but the fitness center is poorly maintained. There are 5 recumbent bikes, and only 1 is in good shape. 2 have no programs available, 1 has a broken arm with bare metal, and 2 also have seat backs which are loose. There is also no staff visible to speak with. One highlight mentioned on the ship highlight screen is the Central Park Tour, which was not available on this cruise. Customer service was clueless , other than to check the daily Compass to check. Needless to say, it was never available. Read Less

We chose this cruise as we were part of a large group following an entertainment trio that performed 2 private parties on board. This is our 4th cruise sailing with the Trio. We had My Time Dinning and that was very bad. Even though we had an assigned area ( due to our large group) it took too long to be seated. Some of the ships entertainment venues were way too small, we like the adult comedy acts. Out of 6500 passengers, only 125 at a time could get into see the acts. We tried ever day for 7 days. No luck. We had never been on a ship this size before, friends had sailed on the Oasis many years ago and said it was great. We have sailed on many cruise lines and have sailed at least 48 times. We will go back to smaller ships. We have now sailed with Royal Caribbean line 4 times, yes we will sail with them again, not on the large ships. Read Less

This was the worst cruise we have ever taken on Royal Caribbean. It was overbooked, the staff were unsociable and rude. The food was just awful, it never changed in the Windjammer. Our bed had hair under the sheet protector, our pillows were blood stained and yellow. We had an issues with the room next to us (10701) It took 3 times to Guest Services and 5 days for the issue to be resolved. Children were allowed to run all over the ship unsupervised (casino, pool, hot tub for adults) I was told there was nothing that could be done about the children. Very disappointed in all aspects of this cruise, would not recommend to anyone, we have been loyal to this cruise line since 2001, looking for something more reliable and consistent. Would post pictures of bedding but they are nasty will share with cruise line only. Thank you Read Less

This cruise was selected because it was offered by a club from The Villages and the price was right . Embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly considering the number of passengers on board the ship. The entertainment was excellent, dining was above average and the service providers, waiters, cabin attendants, etc., were very pleasant to deal with and were very efficient. I felt that there were too many small children aboard and many of them had no parental control and no one from the ship's crew/staff enforced any rules such as no children in the hot tubes in the solarium for an example. The service personnel on this cruise ship were friendly and helpful especially or stateroom attendant and our table head waiter. Bars were well positioned on Deck 5 but there were too many children in them occupying adult space. If my friends asked me if they should book with this cruise line I would give a neutral reply. This is one of the largest cruise ships with great entertainment and excellent food and amenities. Went with two other couples and had a wonderful time! Service is top-notch! Not crazy about the caribbean ports. They all seem very similar with the same activities and same shopping. The size of the ship, of course, increases the number of people and length of lines which is something to keep in mind when choosing your cruise. The fact that you can walk through "Central Park" on your way to dinner or to dancing is unlike any other cruise experience we have had. The Southside Band which performed in Dazzles nightclub was probably one of the best cover bands we have ever heard. Would definitely love to hear them again. If the opportunity arises in the future to cruise on this ship again but maybe to a different destination, we would definitely be interested. Read Less

We enjoyed the food in the specialty dining rooms, not only for the food options, but the service of the staff is far superior, and attentive to detail, to that of the dining room or buffet. The ship is beautiful with many varied activities, but making reservations before you board is confusing, especially, when you don't know what other activities will be available to you when you are actually on board and how to co-ordinate them so they don't overlap. There were shows that we wanted to see, but they were only available during our dining times or some shows were cancelled, due to technical difficulties or weather conditions. There should be rules of conduct for families and children and ship staff to support the rules. There is no reason children should be throwing things from balconies, running and playing football in the halls, throwing golf balls at each other or hitting each other with golf clubs. Dress codes should be enforced in dining rooms for dinner. Poorly behaved children should find suitable dining options as to not disturb the rest of the dining room patrons. Parents and staff should be aware that others would like a pleasant dining experience. Read Less

We chose the Oasis of the seas because of all the fantastic literature we read about this ship. It sounded exciting . We were not disappointed. The Oasis has everything imaginable on it to enjoy your vacation. Plenty of activity for children of all ages. Nice variety of shops and great buys. Ports of call were interesting and plenty of time to tour and shop. Our dining experience was great. A large variety of items to pick from in the Main dining room. Out evening dinner menus were different every evening and delicious. The embarkation went surprisingly very quickly considering the number of people coming aboard. The disembarkation went smoothly however it did take a lot longer than we expected due to the number of people getting off. But that is to be expected. We definitely will plan another cruise with Royal Caribbean We highly recommend the Oasis of the Seas. Read Less
