The Italian staff on this ship were rude, arrogant and often told us lies. They need the sack! The Balinese staff, on the other hand were excellent - friendly, helpful, caring, considerate and could not do enough for you.
The food was a disgrace. I got food poisoning 3 times - twice from milk that had gone off and once from apricots that had been dried and then re-hydrated. The chefs tried ...
We joined the MSC Orchestra cruise, a 35 day voyage from Fremantle to Rome via Gallipoli for the 100th Gallipoli anniversary. A number of things with the ship and service were good but all up leaves plenty of room for improvement.
Three key issues,
1 massive flu on board, which was on board from the prior cruise,
2 very very crowded public spaces,
3 extremely poor bar service ...
Most of the staff were fantastic. Food was below average. Buffet was disgusting. Nearly all passengers got the flu/virus and were very ill. Doctor was poor. No medication. Service was slow. Internet was so expensive and disgusting. Could hardly get internet most of the time. Staff at reception were not nice most of the time.
Entertainment could have been better. Got repetitive and boring over ...
I will cover the good point first.
The ship MSC Orchestra was a clean, well maintained ship.
That's where the plusses end. The food was appalling, mostly overcooked in the dining rooms. The buffet on the thirteenth deck even worse. Breakfast was routinely cold or lukewarm. Lunch was no better. Sandwiches and rolls were left in the self service areas until the bread was curling up and ...
OK, 35 nights cruising for one's first cruise could be problematic! NOT loved the cruising, despised the European cruise staff.
Best bits:
Our dinner table companions (overwhelmingly the best thing about the cruise)
Visiting Gallipoli
Nice cabin (balcony on deck 12) - clean, adequate storage, comfy bed, good maid.
Tour out of Naples to Sorrento & Amalfi Coast
Dinner ...
Background
We were certainly looking forward to a wonderful adventure. We have previously cruised in Pacific and Inside passage with other cruise lines. Our first time with MSC.
Cabin
We went for top level 15. Cabin was OK but smaller than premium cabins on other lines that provide a suite. This cabin was one room with couch and separate toilet. Overall ok.
Dining on Board

Everything was as expected. We had a fabulous time, made new friends, enjoyed the shows etc etc.
Met some negative people complaining mainly about the food. They shut up when I asked them if they had smoked salmon for breakfast which is on the on the menu as much as you like.
Admittedly have had only a short cruise with a Greek ship the Sea Diamond so no real basis for comparison but we will ...
Dubai to Fremantle, VIA Asia and Australia east and southern coast.
Total mess up from day 1 every day came new challenge, dining rooms like local food hall, noisy crowded, no organisation or class at all, eventually settled for buffet upstairs where chef and staff were a vast improvement.
Nightly shows, all intros in 6 languages, the boring all the same no variety, people standing in from ...
This was to be our holiday cruise of a life time. We had previously cruised with MSC 5 times including several long ocean crossings although not as long as this one.
Took the staff more than 3 days to clean the boat - we left Dubai in a terrible sand storm.
We noticed a lot of the little touches were missing - right down to the MSC pens and notepads!!
People at our table came down with a ...
We boarded this ship with great optimism after i had been given the all clear after going down with cancer on my previous cruise on Davina maiden voyage to Miami with cancer.
MSC knew of my cancer and when we arrived at the ship we were whisked away to our cabin in minutes.
From there all down hill apart from the general staff who worked dammed hard for us.
First dirty pillows and lumpy ...
