We chose back to back Mediterranean cruises because of ports called at! Never dreamt we would do 2 cruises and have same theatre shows and eat same menu food on each cruise on 2 different ships (Musica and Orchestra). Very poor on MSC part! Paying for water in dining room is a joke and 3.15 euros per 1 litre bottle is ridiculous! Dining room meals were very average and not up to standard of a good restaurant! Entertainment was very poor and not much to do! Swimming pool area was always full but nobody actually using deck chairs just towels on them! Very rude guests especially when using lift/elevator and always pushing! As English speaking, we found it strange that the cruise director would say after translating/conversing for 20 minutes "I know you all can speak English" so why not speak in English or is it just not worth worrying such a minority group of guests! Both the ships were nice but think twice before deciding on MSC and only wish we had! Read Less

overall The drill was so late, we missed the departure!! As we we went back to the cabin to stow the life jackets we already sailed ... incredible ... We checked our luggage at 11am - and received it only at 5pm!! So we did not have the chance to change, to refresh or anything else ... whereas on the day before departure we had to place our luggage outside the cabin before 1am - there was no opportunity to carry you suitcases on your own when leaving the ship - on every other ship we've been, thats possible ... the "funny" thing was: they did not even put your luggage into the transfer-bus, no, you had to grab it again on the peer and THEN carry it to the bus - so what was the point again?! U have to pay extra for several things like icecream, crêpes, ... (?!) There are NO towels / blankets on deck! Absolutely none. You only get two towels per cabin (changed in the evening when placed in the cabin before turn down service) ... There have been places on the ship where you froze and other places where you sweat ... especially in the gym and the buffet restaurant the ac didn‘t seem to work right … You can't buy coca cola on the ship ... there is only pepsi (?!) and if you want to drink something else: hurry up - the 4. day of the cruise: no iced tea left ... - no further comment needed! On the day of departure we had to leave the cabin at 8am and the ship at 9.30 am - just to be waiting at the airport for more than 3 hours!!! Perfectly planned transfer ... We did cruises / ship journeys with HAL, Princess, Hapag and Hurtigruten - EVERY other ship we went on was so much better than MSC - don't choose it, u'll regret it!! food We simply NEVER ate SO bad on a ship … Although we only had 7 days, repetitions in the buffet restaurant began on day 3 already … and not a single thing was hot … In the restaurant le maxim it wasn’t much better … you got served salad that looked as if it was prepared hours ago … and we never ever saw tiny portions like this – it was a joke; and you found yourself at the buffet again after dinner … The le maxim restaurant was dark, narrow and there were only some round windows which haven’t been cleaned for at least weeks –> explains the drapes that have been partly or completely closed all the time; I mean, hello, I’m on the sea, I want to see water, not drapes … „service“ Now to the worst point of that disastrous cruise … the service … or what they do call so … it was not bad, it was simply non-existent. On all the ships we were so far, service was perfect. But on MSC … no words … The staff was rude, unfriendly, never a smile or a chat, very aggressive in selling things, uninterested and never said hello … they were inefficient and slow-moving or simply not there. Lack of cleanness everywhere (cabin, restaurants, toilets, decks, and so on), no service at all! in the buffet restaurant – never cleaned the table, never placed any cutlery, never brought you water (on all the other ships, all of this was happening without saying a word – in the buffet restaurant!), and so on … they only appeared, to sell you a package – therefore they came again and again and again … gym / pool / sunbeds The Pools were closed at 9pm … why?! It was hot all night long!! Even worse was the fact that they started to put away all the sunbeds by 6.30 pm … incredible … Especially on deck 14 aft - at 8pm they told us "time is over“ – we couldn’t believe it .. on a cruise, where you could stay outside all night, why would they have to do so?! We have been on several cruises, north, south, transatlantic, and on none of those trips they ever did so … there was simply no need .. no waves, no wind, no nothing … The gym was the tiniest one we ever saw on a ship of this size … it was small, sticky, hot, only a few machines (you had to wait in line!!) and they did not even provide water … excursions They have been ok. Besides the fact that (on the « the best of santorini ») we spent a loooong time at a place we could have seen in 30 minutes and then had to run through the next place as a result of no time left … And the one in montenegro („blue grotto“) where you spend 2 hours on a boat, 3 minutes in the blue grotto and then 2 hours on a beach where you’d have to pay for sunbeds/umbrella although you already paid 80 euros per person for the excursion … Read Less

Good: The ship was great, cabin very clean and very good food quality. Nice excursions with qualified guides. Good quality shows with very good artists Bad: Unpleasant dinning experience- too many people and not enough space at the tables. Every.single.day, 3 times per day. Poor water quality. For this reason we had to buy water on board. Horrible service - very pushy employees willing to sell you packages. Almost agresive. We found the second night that we already have included in the price we initially paid services that we had to paid extra the first day. We had to fight to get our money back and we still didn't get back the full the amount they make us pay for nothing. They claim is the agent fault. But we did not have an agent. Very very unpleasant and rude. For this reason I do not recommend MSC Musica. They have to work more to improve their service quality. Maybe to better select their employees if they want to stay in business. Read Less

We were not able to see Venice due to so slow boarding. The trip to the chosen port was made eternal, due to the distance from our city of origin Castellon. We were able to embark, but we should enable the option of supplying some hors d'oeuvres or distributing food in the dead time to the travelers, especially those who have come from so far away and have been so many hours in boarding. Very good atmosphere, wonderful people, impeccable service on board and we found very good people and fellow travelers with whom we have very good relationship and we think will be components of our next cruise. The excursions we chose before, since we did not know the possibility of buying them on the cruise, although I must admit that the ship was more expensive. We did not travel with children. We are thinking of embarking again, with the friends we made on our journey, we hope to have another opportunity to see us on another beautiful itinerary. Read Less

We booked this cruise because we wanted to tour Venice and also see the Greek Isles. For an older ship, it was in really good shape. However, there were many things wrong with the operation of this cruise. Meals: The buffet was total CHAOS! There were not nearly enough tables for all the passengers. If you wanted a table you had to stand and wait for someone to finish their meal and then have to search for someone to come and clean the table. Breakfast didn't have any made to order omelets, no egg whites, pancakes in warmers that were ice cold and most of the other hot foods were cold. I requested skim or low fat milk and it took 25 minutes to fill my request. Isn't a cruise supposed to be relaxing and enjoyable? The waiters at dinner were very nice and tried to accommodate as best they could. The food, however, was somewhat of a joke. 3 Raviolis for the main course seems more like an appetizer. One of the casserole dishes was supposed to consist of shrimp? We needed a magnifying glass to find the shrimp. Who ever heard of charging for coffee or tea in the dining room after dinner? I am not referring to specialty coffee - just regular coffee. We requested anchovies for our Caesar salad which the waiter had to get permission from the head waiter. When relaxing on the pool deck, there were no servers taking drink orders. You had to wait on line at the bar for a drink. We have been on 25 cruises and have never complained about them. Unless MSC does some something to change their ways, we would definitely not cruise with them again. Read Less

We booked two cabins on Musica to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and my mothers 80th birthday. The ship was spotless. The crew could not do enough for you.We booked this trip based on a trip last year on Divina. We were not disapointed and must saw we give Musica an edge for service and not as many people. The cabin on the 16th deck, spa and food were great, Spa and also the cigar room bartender were really good. Thank you MSC we are looking at another cruise for this fall. The show Grease was great fun and was suitable for all ages. Had fun int he casino and also enjoyed the restaurants, buffet and bar on the top deck. Excursions were very good, we had a port of call each day and we saw a lot of interesting things during this cruise. Again we will be booking again with MSC, and Soon!!! :) Read Less

This was my 12th cruise and I was a little nervous about a MSC cruise based on the negative reviews. I booked the Aurea level that includes all free drinks alcohol and even bottle water, priority boarding, private sun deck for Aurea level passengers with private bar, and free 1 hour massage. This cruise was excellent for the money, there was no difference between this line than Royal Caribbean or NCL for the money. The ship is gorgeous and having the Aurea Level gets you away from the crowds on the pool deck. Dinner in the dinning room was great The only negative was the buffet was always crowded and it was hard to find a table. Although, you can eat in the dinning room for all your meals. Dont hesitate to book with MSC just remember only do the Aurea level my friends and I had the time of our life. Read Less

We picked 2 MSC back to back cruises as the itinieries suited our first trip to the Greece/Italy. To begin with we were very happy with our booking but at about 4 weeks before the trip I realised they'd changed one of our cabins without telling us, we'd originally booked 12months out so we could have aft balconies, despite contacting the Australian office repeatedly and them trying hard to have our cabin reinstated we were given a mid ship cabin on the first cruise which certainly took the shine off from our perspective. Boarding in Venice was a breeze, no line ups, our room was ready within 2 hours of boarding and our bags delivered promptly. We had been on the Orchestra previously so received priority boarding, the lineups if you didn't looked daunting. The cabin was extremely comfortable with one of the best beds and linen that we have had cruising. The service was generally pretty deplorable. The bar staff very slow and understaffed, but generally friendly and pleasant, with the exception of the 5th floor bar staff, I'm gluten free and there are quite a few alcoholic drinks I can't have and I was delighted to see on the Orchestra they had a gluten free bar! Which served coffee, hot chocolate and cold drinks, on the Orchestra the staff on that bar were exceptional and very tried very hard to look after the patrons, on the Musica they didn't even understand the concept of gluten free! One of the staff at one stage refused to serve my husband as they said he was taking the drinks to our balcony, when he replied of course he was as he wanted to enjoy the view they said they couldn't serve him, he then went directly to customer service who said that was ridiculous and he could take the drinks wherever he liked. this was only one of several times this staff was rude and ignorant, we also witnessed them telling a lady she couldn't have a iced coffee because it wasn't included on her all inclusive coffee vouchers, although she insisted all the other bars would provide it! We all know the prices that are charged on cruise ships for drinks and we pay them as we want a hassle free environment but that's not to be expected on the Musica. The food was much the same as the Orchestra, I will only give my perspective as gluten intolerant for those that are interested, I was quite excited to see they had their own gluten free kitchen and offered such rare treats for us like croissants! The croissants where frozen and warmed up in a microwave so I only had 1 once, the bread was the same and often served still in the plastic bag. The food generally was so so, I had a couple of exceptionally nice pasta sauces but the pasta itself was typical gluten free that you would buy in the supermarket. There was really no dessert choice, only dessert of the day which everyday was a sort of cream cake concoction, which was quite nice the first and second day, but that was enough. The buffet had absolutely no gluten free choices except for fresh fruit, cheese and ham, and as the room service for breakfast offered no gluten free, I'd often gather up some bits and pieces to put in the fridge for the next day. We didn't see a lot of the evening entertainment, the one show we went to was quite good and not very long. The ship is very nice with a lot of bars which also sell coffee and hot drinks, but only 2 pool bars and the deplorable bar on floor five open during the day, which doesn't work with over 2000 guests on board. The ports were great but we normally prebook everything on roll calls organising trips and inviting others along, but as MSC cruisers don't post we tried to book independently and without the numbers the tours don't go, so virtually all our tours were cancelled and we had to book on the fly the night or 2 before arriving, so this is something I'd look at a lot more thoroughly before our next European cruise. We did one excursion with the ship which was virtually just a boat trip to Portovenere, but it was great and the town is beautiful, easy to explore on your own. The internet is slow and unpredictable. I hope this is helpful for those considering MSC, we struggled to find a lot of information from an Australian perspective before we left and would be happy to help anyone if you need further information. Just a little about our cruise MSC Musica.... From the moment we boarded this ship was a complete disaster . As Black Members, you think that MSC would have had my booking right after booking this cruise out of Venice for more than a year out.. We booked the Aurea Experience, and they just had us a bottle water for dinner codes. Had anytime dining and they put us in the wrong dining room even and no anytime dining. tried to fix both and man that was a nightmare . Food was so bad in MDR, we eat mostly in buffet and that was sub pare, I though a Mediterranean Cruise, with in my opinion was the best cruise line out there, but was so disappointed.. The wine offered in the all exclusive pkg with Aurea experience was, like SO SO BAD. had one glass at day one and NEVER turned back The wine again was awful, very awful and I like usually any red, not that fussy. This wine was BAD. Waste of money to pay for the Aurea Experience at least in Mediterranean ... One good thing was embarkation was the best and quickest we ever experienced. MSC got this right.. Would I book anther Mediterranean cruise with MSC Musica, ,big NO. MSC failed to impress me on there on turf. Read Less
