My wife and I took a Cruise at MSC Musica. RIo-Buenos Aires-Rio. After purchasing the tickets, directly with MSC, we received, on the eve of the trip, an email confirming a cabin with a balcony. We were very happy because we bought the Bingo rate and knew we could go to internal or external cabin with balcony. Confirmed that it was external, with balcony, we rejoice even more. On the day of the checkin, they confirmed our cabin and we dispatched the bag. Arriving in the cabin, our bag was already there and even the beverages tickets that had been bought, were on the bed, waiting for us. The chamberlain introduced himself, "ticked" our name on the passenger list under his responsibility and put himself at our disposal. The journey began in the best possible way. My wife loved the cabin, took pictures, sent them to friends, etc. After about an hour we were there, I decided to take a shower. When I went out of the shower, naked, the door of the cabin opens and another couple enters !! I pulled the towel over to cover myself, but it was extremely embarrassing. The couple, it was not their fault. MSC gave them another card with the same number of our cabin! Very embarrassed, I put my clothes on and went down to reception to try to solve the problem. The man at the front desk said that I would have to leave the cabin for this couple to use and they will send me to an internal cabin. I answered that no, I had received that cabin, the checkin had confirmed that cabin and that my things were waiting for me in that cabin (suitcase and beverage tickets) We even had already taken all the clothes and kept them in the closet. Also, I confirmed with this couple that their ticket was also promotional. So, why they would get us out of there ??? The receptionist said that he could not do anything and that I was supposed to go upstairs, pack my things and that someone would come there to help me with my bags and tell us where we were going. I went back, embarrassed, My wife was very upset and we started to pack things back. We waited for an hour in the cabin.Nothing. I went down again with the same gentleman and he asked me: Why do you not changed yet? I lost my temper: I said: you told me to wait. I do not know which cabin you will send me. even if I knew, would I open the door with my finger? Where's the card? He then took the card and gave it to me. Needless to say, we had to carry the bags ourselves. Arriving in the inner cabin, my wife almost cried. Suffocating. She went totake a shower. It only had cold water. Can you imagine the disappointment ??? We called the maintenance service. The guy went there after a while and said that he needed to change the register that opened the water, but that he did something that we would be able to use for a while, until he fix it later. In fact, the hot water worked. But it was closing after a few time and we had to constantly regulate. All of these situations have spoiled our whole experience on the ship. On the second day, at night, they left a champagne in our cabin, apologizing. Later, around midnight, we were informed that there was an external cabin availiable. I decided to move in the same night, because the internal cabin was very bad. We packaged everything and by one o'clock AM, we were in our new cabin. Tired, but at least we got a decent shower. I felt really embarrassedin froint a couple of strangers and MSC ignored our suffering. The ship's reception staff is insensitive and does not seem to care for the guests. Oh ... I forgot to mention one detail: On the first day, I called the MSC number where I had bought the ticket and they advised me to talk to someone from the guest relation in the ship. I went to the front desk and asked to speak to her. I was told that she was not available and that if I wanted to, I could schedule a meeting with her the other day, at 10 o'clock AM. But it would not help me, because she coulddo nothing. Even so, I scheduled the meeting. The other day at 10 AM, what happened? She was not there and could not receive me. I reiterate that in the purchase of the fare, I knew that the cabin would be allocated by lot. But after the confirmation by email, checkin, after we are using the cabin, to be surprised by other guests, in a delicate situation, It was terrible! We could not have been "ripped" out of our cabin like that. It was a monumental MSC mistake that, I repeat, embarrassed me and spoiled our experience on board. They tried to solve it later, but it was little, in comparisson to what we went through. I would not recommend this cruise because of the lack of organization, the insensitivity of the attendants on the ship and for the embarassement I was exposed. Read Less

MSC MUSICA My wife and I , together with my sister and brother-in- law , booked for the Transatlantic cruise during the month of november 2017. We booked the cruise because Kras travels (the Netherlands) offered a special promotion. We took our transatlantic cruise from Venice to Rio de Janeiro, 21 nights (12 Nov to 5Dec2017) . We actually have no complaints at all. Everything went like clockwork from embarkation to debarkation. a little late leaving Venice but it actually made for a beautiful departure from port. The MSC MUSICA is a beautiful ship with plenty to keep you busy with so many places to walk around and see and things to do. We arrived at the cruise terminal early but everything went smoothly and after waiting in the cue for 30 minutes we were able to board. Our cabin was ready and also our cruise card so we were able to use our lunch. We then went to the buffet for lunch it was very busy but this was not a problem as there were staff at the buffet entrance who took you to a seat. Also there was a button on the table to summon a beverage waiter and they were very efficient. The food was hot and there was a good selection. I loved the majority of my breakfasts and lunches in the Deck 13 Buffet, unfortunately my dinners in the Restaurant were inconsistent and I did have several sub-par dinners. The buffet on the deck 13 The food and beverage manager Mr. BRUNO , organized his team and equipment as a 5 star hotelrestaurant. The equipments and cutlery always cleaned by his team from 8am to 8am, the wole day long. Food at the cruise was lovely, a lot of choice and variety. There were so many food choices on 6 corners including a bread and pastery, an Italian corner, a fruitcorner and a big buffet. They present several times a week , special items and a tapas- and brasilian event. Service was generally good. To enjoy a long cruise, you must prepare how you wish to spend the many sea days (here included 6 transatlantic sea days). While there was a multitude of activities we participated some activities offered by the Cruise Director. The entertainment was OK. Some of the stage shows were good some not, bands in the bars were varied. We were never bored for we met several travellers with the same age and ideas. We took a few very good shore excursions, but we mainly explored on our own, and took taxis and public transportation. We missed 1 of the 5 Brasilian ports due to storms. Once we sailed out of the Mediterranean, into the transatlantic crossing, it was very smooth sailing, and every day was sunny and warm towards Brasil. The cruise was pristine , immaculate, and the upkeep was spot on. The cruise is quieter this time of the year so we cannot make a review for the summer season. There is still a lot to do, because the animation is working during day-times but also every evening is there something to do. The cabins/bedrooms were fabulous we had a double room which was quite big and they were clean and looked very new. Our room was lovely the bed so comfortable and our housekeeping excellent. Chose this cruise for the Ports of call, and the price. We have cruised with MSC before so to an extent we knew what to expect. However, the food was even more hit and miss than we have had before. Some of our fellow passengers behaved in an incredibly arrogant manner - and unfortunately, and when it occurred, it was tantamount to intimidation and bullying at times and I encountered this directly aimed at me although other people did suffer similar. The ports were great. Most of the trips were good. The cabin was as good as we could expect - it was a balcony and very nice. The gym should have more equipment than it has - there was sufficient space for more equipment. In the bars the service was good, apart from one occasion, I was given a different drink than I ordered - they were hoping I wouldn't notice, as the bar tender actually had to fetch another bottle, and it was easier to give me something similar - but without advising me. It looked the same but tasted different. Would have preferred for the entertainment team not to have nightly Bingo in the main lounge. I dont play Bingo - but that is not the issue, the issue for me was that each number was presented in each language (and generally I don't mind the multiple languages announcements) but for bingo, this meant it seemed to go on for ever! Cruised from Venice to Rio over a 3 week period. Had been to most of European ports before, but chose this cruise for the stops in Brazil. Unfortunately had to miss Fortaleza due to strong winds, and it rained most of day in Buzios. Overall we liked the ship having a comfortable balcony cabin, although the wardrobe space was a bit small. The ship was in good condition, but there were some signs of wear and tear. The main let down was the food in the main restaurant which often got to the table Luke warm, and once was actually cold. The service in both the main and buffet restaurants was hit and miss. The entertainment team worked very hard and provided good varied things to do and take part in. There were also lots of dance classes. The evening shows were mostly very good and varied. There were bands duos and singers in all the bars who in the main could actually sing and play. The gym was much too small for the size of ship, with queues to get on the equipment on sea days. We would go on this ship again for the right itinerary and price. Read Less

Selected this cruise because it had a few new destinations for us, and we got a decent deal, with flights and hotels either end. Embarking at Brindisi could have been faster, with the shuttle buses packed to capacity. The experience could have been better. We were impressed with the ship, which seemed very modern and spacious with a range of lounges to relax in, Cabin was comfortable and fairly roomy. The entertainment was very repetitive, with the basic formula the same every night. Although we had cruised with MSC before and enrolled on the Members club, nothing was offered to us in the way of perks or bonuses. Staff were pleasant and had a good attitude. We would have preferred freedom dining but MSC only seem to allow it for a restricted range of passengers. Main dining was OK, and for us the portion sizes were just about right. Too often the buffets were jam packed and we had to queue. Sometimes food range was limited and very often lukewarm or cold. Not the best cruise we have ever had, Would we go with MSC again? Probably not. Read Less

We choose this cruise due to the locations it stopped in and in honesty the affordable price , but I suppose the truth is you get what you paid for. The ship was mostly full of Italians and Germans, English speakers were very much the minority and although that is not a total handicap I personally believe the ship is very much set up to accomodate the needs of its biggest customer group which is fair enough. I was quite disappointed with the generally selfish and rude behavior of my fellow passengers who were very keen to assert their right to be in the lift before you or jump the queue ahead of you, maybe we were just unlucky. They seemed not to smile too much and I think that this has rubbed off on the majority of the crew who don't smile too much themselves, there were a few gems in amongst them but by in large they didn't look as if they were they wanted to be there. The food (and kill or be killed conduct) in the buffet was very disappointing, a fairly large choice but it was quite underwhelming and I am not a fussy eater. The meals in the restaurants were better but portions sizes quite small (albeit the waiters were happy to accomodate multiple servings). The accomodation (bella with a balcony) was quite small, but clean and had a really comfortable bed, I was certainly quite content with this. The entertainment felt limited and again felt more suited to my Italian passengers, not withstanding that there were some (eastern european?) acrobats who were great and a ballroom dancer who was simply stunning to watch. The excursions were all overpriced and could be done independently at a quarter of the cost, however the nervousness to ensure you are back on board before sailing I suspect pushes people to buy in. We stopped at Katokolon, Santorini, Corfu, Athens, Kotor and Venice. All enjoyable stops, especially if you like ancient history and buildings like I do. All told I enjoyed the experience but compared to friends experiences of cruising with other providers I believe we may have been the poor relatives. Read Less

SO, I was expecting nothing by taking this cruise. I had read so many negative reviews on MSC and the food..etc.. But since the itinerary was so beautiful, we decided to give it a try. Well, this cruise exceded my expectations... First, it started quite rough since we were in room 8191.. right over the Chrystal lounge.. OMG! We called the reception, they offered to move us for the night to another room. It was midnight so we accepted. The next day, they offered us to stay in that new room. We were happy of the service provided. Next, came shower time.. Water overflowed to the room... They offered to move us another time.. This time, to a balcony! WOW! That's what I call service. 4 guys were outside my door waiting to help me move all my things to the new room. I had read that the food was close to mediocre. Being quite picky, I thought I was going to spend the week eating next to nothing. Well... that was not the case. ALthough the menue choices were not was I am used to, the dished were tasty and delicious. One thing I disliked, the ship is rarely on time for arrival. When they say 7 to 13.. I expect them to get me off the ship at 7:00.. Not 7:20. It happened on a couple of occasions and that was not ok by my standards. The last day, we were supposed to arrive in Venice at 9h00 but the port was closed due to heavy fog. We all missed our flights back home since they let us off the ship at 14h45.. And we got off with all our luggage. That is no fault of theirs but still unpleasant to go through. We did not go to the shows since we were so tired with jetlag and all the heavy walking we did everyday visiting the amazing ports of call. All in all, I must say that it was an amazing cruise, we are cruising with them again next March to Dubai and I can't wait!:) Read Less

This 1 week cruise from Venice had a good itinerary. We booked a suite because the price was low and included the liquor and soft drink packages. We had the Aurea package which included "many specialty restaurants", which turned out to be NONE!! Our only dinner choice was the buffet, which was an absolute ZOO with very insufficient seating or a nice smaller venue with a very limited menu and very poorly prepared food. Soft drinks came with no ice or straws or napkins; beer came in a cold glass with warm beer. The soft drink package was supposed to be unlimited variety of specialty coffees, but almost every drink had an extra charge . The staff was friendly. The guests were mostly from Germany, Italy or France. They were nice, but most didn't speak any English. This cruise is not for Americans and the food choices were limited and poorly prepared. When we returned home I wrote to MSC to complain about the food etc. but they have not replied. We have been on over 8 different cruise lines and MSC is the worst by far. Never again. Read Less

We were recommended by our travel agent to go with MSC cruise ship and were not disappointed, we found the staff extremely friendly and happy. The food was fantastic and the evening meal was as good if not better, than many top restaurants. The ship was a smooth ride, didn’t feel like a ship, more like a beautiful hotel. One thing I would recommend to do, pay for inclusive drinks package, it will save a lot of hassle and money. 10/10 from me. The sites we saw in one week, would have taken a great deal of holidays to see them, over a few years, but with a cruise like this you can pack so much in. The staff are so helpful, so any questions, they will help you. It was very well organised, having a news letter every day, showing what was going on, what time we arrive into each port, where to visit, what excursions are available, what shows are on, etc. Read Less

Having experienced a truly awful cruise on Meraviglia earlier this year, we approached this cruise with trepidation. We thought a smaller ship would be more enjoyable, and we were right. Embarkation in Venice was as usual with MSC - chaotic and lengthy. Once onboard we found our cabin ready ( great aft balcony) and luggage was delivered shortly afterwards. The cabin is on the small side and showing a few signs of age, however cabin steward was great. The ship holds 2,500 passengers and never seemed crowded, the crew are friendly ( not so on Meraviglia) and helpful. The food is also 100% better than Meravigllia - we took breakfast in the restaurant which had either waiter or buffet service, similarly lunch and our dinner seating was at 7pm. Food in the restaurant at dinner was a bit hit and miss, but there was no problem asking for something else if you didn't like your first choice. We only walked through the buffet area but it looked to have good choices which were different every day. Afternoon snacks ( sandwiches, baguettes, hot dogs, cakes etc) were also available from 4pm for a couple of hours. We had the dinner and bar drinks package which is extremely good value and with good choices. Space around the pool was good and there were always plenty of loungers available As is usual with MSC the entertainment is poor - RCI, NCL, Princess leave them standing in this area. The itinerary was very good, although in Brindisi and Kotor the stay was so short we had no time to visit anywhere (4 hours from 1pm in Brindisi and 9-12 in Kotor). Disembarkation was pretty trouble free and much better than the emarkation experience. Overall this was an enjoyable cruise, but there were very few English speakers onboard - the bulk of the passengers were Italian, French and Spanish and the cruise is very much geared to that market and as they give such huge discounts for children, there are always a great many on board - which isn't a problem for us, but it does mean that there are young children screaming in the restaurants and running around ( at both 1st and 2nd sitting). This is, of course the European way, but if you prefer a relaxing dining experience it may not suit you. This, I think will probably be our last cruise with MSC as although it is very competitively priced, you really do only get what you pay for and we will be returning to the American or British cruise companies in future.
