A good cruise deal kept popping into my inbox - three week cruise from Sydney, three night stay in Singapore and flight home. It was on P&O UK Arcadia's world cruise leg from Sydney to Singapore. I had previously sailed on this ship some 7 years ago from Chile back to Sydney and had some misgivings about taking this ship again but thought that there might have been improvements in the meantime. ...
Having been on numerous cruises before we decided to book the world cruise with P&O. What a mistake we made. A captain for the first leg of the cruise to Australia accusing the passengers of being dirty by bringing illness on board. a very arrogant attitude. Fort Lauderdale was a nightmare as there were only two shuttle buses available ( Capt stated 7 were ordered but only 2 turned up. What did ...
I’m not sure where to start as there are so many points to raise. Let’s start with the cabin.
Balcony cabin (accessible)
I’m confined to a wheelchair chair as any movement of the ship and I will fall, although I can walk with a walking frame or wheeled walker. On arrival at the cabin we had to request that the chair and table be removed as there were insufficient space for my wheelchair. On ...
I have cruised with P&O several times in the past and have always recommended them above the likes of Royal Caribbean because the service has traditionally been so much better. Not this time. It may well have been that particular ship, the Arcadia, but had that of been my first cruise with P&O I would be in no hurry to go back.
There was sickness on board (Norovirus) that was very badly ...
Well this was a New Years cruise that I will never forget and all for the wrong reasons. This cruise was a 60th birthday present brought for me by my wife back in 2021.
The start didn't go well with us having to wait to board the ship having to enter all our details again because the computer system had broken.
Entrance to the ship is very underwhelming there is no atrium to wow the ...
Went on Arcadia for new year with my wife, this was our fifth time on Arcadia and we basically thought most things had gone downhill, so are listing our thoughts as pros and cons: -
Pros:
• The Main Dining Room, considering all the negative reviews the food quality was much better than expected
• It was good to see that some of the pre-Covid onboard staff have returned to the ...
Although the ports that we managed to call at were okay, the ship itself was abysmal. (Oslo for two very cold days. Copenhagen for two days (badly organised transfer that should have made two stops in order for people to visit The Little Mermaid and Art museum. And one out of two days in Amsterdam. No Zeebrugger because of the weather.)
A return to Southampton would have been a better idea than ...
Note: I have copied this verbatim from other social media sites where I have posted. Partly because it is tedious to retype the same words but also because it still makes me angry to relive the experience.
I should start by saying this was our first ever cruise so we have nothing to compare it to and it was a 10 day Baltic cruise on Arcadia.
In fact that doesn’t matter because this cruise ...
I chose this cruise because the itinerary and timing suited my needs. I had a dozen sea cruises and 3 river cruises under my belt, but had never used P&O before. I believed, though, that they had a good reputation.
Other reviewers have mentioned the truncated visit to Amsterdam and missed visit to Zeebrugge. Disappointing as these were, I do not complain about them - I think one must accept ...
We are veteran cruisers and first sailed on P&O Arcadia in her maiden year of 2005. This was our fifth cruise on her. Oh dear: I really hate to be the one to say it, but P&O are a shadow of their former selves. Their standards have not so much dropped as plummeted. While the positives, on the whole, outweighed the negatives, we did find a couple of issues to be more than a little ...
