The alsakan cruise on the Norwegian Jewel was the worst vacation of my life. My parents were not allowed on the ship due to my father failing a Covid test presumably for a cruise he had been on the week before. We were supposed to share a suite with them along our connected club room. We went down to try to resolve this right away by moving my brothers into it (willing to pay for it and all) and ...
We decided on this cruise because we had a cruise next credit that we needed to use and it had been many years since we had visited Alaska. We were excited about the cruise and also wanted to see Denali. We booked the Denali land tour as well as the 7 night cruise. Included in the cruise we a number of extras including an airfare special. We have cruised with NCL and Oceania numerous times. When ...
Why did I choose this cruise?
We choose this cruise because it appeared to have more port calls than a similar Princess cruise.
Lessons learned: Look carefully at the times and places of the port calls, and ability to add a land option. With the NCL itinerary, we could not add excursions on the embarkation or debarkation days nor any days before or after the cruise.
Tell people about ...
First of all never ever let the Cruise book your airline tickets it took us 30 hours to get home. Cruise embarkation was fine .Rooms were clean and very nice room attendant did a great job cleaning but she was so busy she really didn’t get much personal care and I don’t blame her I blame the Cruise for being understaffed. The food was mediocre. Varieties in the buffet minimal. Especially ...
we did a 6 day land tour first then the 7 day cruise. We enjoyed most of the land portion. Our tour guide Jacob and bus driver Penny were excellent. Very knowledgeable of Alaska and Jacob even stopped at grocery stores since our hotel rooms had refrigerators. I would say the only portion of the land that I did not like and I think it would be better was the last day before boarding the ship. We ...
I choice this cruise for the itinerary. Alaska was beautiful but it was obvious that people were walking around the ship with Covid symptoms. People were coughing and not attempting to stay away from others. Staff didn’t seem to care and I didn’t see a lot of cleaning in the stairwells or elevators and other highly touched areas like I have seen in past cruises probably due to staff shortages. I ...
We chose this ship for several reasons:
1. We had cruised with NCL and on this ship before and liked it.
2. We had Cruise Next credits to use.
And 3. We decided that we would prefer the still elegant, but more relaxed atmosphere with NCL, since this was a 3 generation family cruise.
The Jewel and the staff exceeded our expectations. There was plenty to enjoy for all three generations. ...
I was underwhelmed by the entire NCL Jewel experience. We booked this trip during COVID, when NCL had no customers. We decided to purchase a suite and paid a large premium versus our other friends who purchased inexpensive inside cabins. Just before the cruise, our friends were allowed to bid on upgrading to a suite and for only $500 (per couple), they received a suite. This was $1,500 less ...
We chose this cruise for several reasons. We wanted to go in June, and we wanted to be on a smaller size ship. We sailed on the Jewel about 9 years ago out of New York. It has been refurbished and looks very nice. Prior to the start of the cruise, we did the five day land tour. If one can afford it, then I highly recommend it. We did the rail tour and rode several trains and went to various ...
We arrived home from our June 13-20 Cruise to Alaska on NCL Jewel yesterday. It's hot in Texas, so I thought it might cool me off to remember our cruise. Embarkation went pretty smoothly. Our time was 10:30, and after showing our NEG results, we were in line to get checked in. I will say, I did all of the Online Checking, but they did it all over again at check-in. Working harder, not smarter! We ...
