I have cruised more than 20 times and found Pride of America to be a nice size ship for getting around. The room was smaller with less storage space then the last NCL ship I was on. I must say that the 2 shows I saw were the best I have ever seen on a cruise ship. The shows were crisp and well done. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the food service.

We chose Pride of America as it seemed to be the best and easiest way to see Hawaii and the islands. Getting on the ship was very easy and we were on just after 12.15 (lunchtime). We took the NCL Jewel in '15 to Alaska. The food was great, the staff was great, the excursions were great. The POA is not the same. The food is okay....not great, but not horrible. If one wants to see several islands without having to pack up and move this is the way. Hawaii is beautiful, day and night. Cruising made getting around easy. The cruise itself was ok.
Did NCL 3 day tour of Oahu before cruise. It was excellent, great driver/tour guide. Was able to stay at Cultural Center for Luau and get other transportation back to hotel.

I booked my own excursions, independent of NCL. Was very happy with my choices.
We took this cruise as it was the only one that did island cruise. Since it was, they could overcharge for everything. Inflated prices for such things as water and laundry. (No self-serve laundry).

We chose to do this cruise so that we could get to see more of Hawaii on a short stay. It was convenient to be able to not have to pack and unpack every time we went somewhere else.
We did the Freestyle package in an OK partially obstructed view room.
Embarkation was a slow and arduous. We were sitting on deck of ship for four hours before our room was ready. Not impressed.
