This ship was nice, but it was more for an over 50 demographic. My child (14) tried on several attempts to attend the teen club, but he was always the only one that showed up. We didn't notice very many kids on the ship at all. The trivia and other entertainment was again more for an older audience and I am in my mid 40's and felt too young. The shore excursion desk was very rude when we tried to nicely explain problems we had on an excursion. The dining was ok at best. The service was nice, but the food was very boring. The buffet for lunch was smaller than on other cruise lines and did not offer a very good variety of foods. The pizza at the pizza place was the best pizza we have had on any ship. The cruise staff were wonderful, especially for a more senior crowd. They were the shining part of the ship. Read Less

This was our 6th Princess Cruise and 22nd overall. We opted for a Thanksgiving getaway cruise to the Caribbean out of Ft Lauderdale and this cruise fit our schedule. We opted for a full suite which was located at the stern (back) of the ship on the Starboard side (D-737). It was apparent on arrival that the Crown has not been refurbished in a very long time. The stateroom did not have any modern electrical outlets or circuits. There were no UBS cable ports. In order to use my CPAP machine they had to run a industrial size extension chord behind the bed over to the dressing table that only had (2) outlets. The size of the plug on the cable was so big it took up both outlets leaving us the charge phones and accessories during the day when we unplugged the extension chord. The bathroom had only one (1) vanity and sink and NO SHELVES. You had to leave every personal item on the vanity counter which got quite cluttered. The pull out clothes line in the bath area was broken and not usable. The exterior patio porch was in terrible condition and looks like it had not had any maintenance in a very long time. The hand rail was coating was all gone on the backside of the rail (varnish), the main support posts were filthy, the glass was not cleaned during our entire stay (10 days), there was visible rust all along the bottom of the rails where they meet the main deck. The patio furniture was very old but made of wood and very usable. There was visible rust everywhere your eyes roamed. Not what we expected or paid for in a Suite. The food was OK but not as good as other Princess ships we have been on. The entertainment was a very big disappointment. We did enyoy breakfast room service which was Excellent. Smoking in the Casino is still a big problem even when us non smokers have to walk thru the Casino to get anywhere. I can't believe Senior Princess Executives can't see that the smokers are the MINORITY aboard ships and that all smoking in Casinos should be eliminated. In summary I feel that I paid for a cruise at a Ritz Carlton facility but instead received a cruise sponsored by the Days Inn. We have taken the Crown Princess off our future cruise listing. We definitely did not get what we paid for. Time for a complete refurbishment. Read Less

We have been on 70+ cruises including about 30 on Princess. We the sister ship of the Caribbean Princess and they are NOT alike. Started with over an hour wait while they found a wheelchair for our EXPRESS boarding. The handler did not know how to handle a wheelchair safely and left us in the Lobby and went on his break. The cabin in the same area we had on the Caribbean Princess was very noisy with THIN not insulated walls. Dinner was slow and the menu was the worst I have ever seen with limited choices. People arriving 45 minutes late for their assigned seating were seated and delayed our service and the food was cool to cold We gave up after the third night and ate upstairs in the buffet which at least had a better choice of food and it was warmer even sitting in the heating trays. Normally we had very good service from our room steward, restaurant server, and the help in the buffet. The schedule everyday same was the same and lacked anything other than the piano and steel drum entertainers. We did a back to back 10 night cruises and between the cruises we had to get off the ship for BORDER PROTECTION. Why I don't know as we didn't re-enter the US until December 7th when we got off. I.C.E. use to board and do any passport checks in the comfort of a cruise ship show room where we had access to food and drink and the I.C.E. officials seem to like having theirs while checking papers. I will not be using the Crown and if the quality of the food does not improve we will change cruise lines. We like our 30 to 60 days a year at sea to relax and get away from the daily grind of being retired. Read Less

Ship is in need of repairs!!!!!! Rugs coming up all over the ship. Brass railings and elevators need major repairs. All the elevators are scrapped up and look like they were used as freight elevators. Balcony has excessive rust and not cleaned between cruises. Balcony table was pitted and paint peeling. Broken drawer handles in the cabin. Drawers hard to open and close. Broken door closer in bathroom. Mold found in the shower. First night i found feces ( skid mark)on the comforter. Ordered things for the cabin and the room steward never brought it. I ordered a bottle of wine and it was left without a corkscrew or glasses. The wifi was absolutely horrible. Cuts out in the middle if texting or streaming video. Medallion class connection only worked about half the time. There was a refrigerated display case in the international cafe that was broken and water leaking all over ,it took them 5 days to even start repairs. There were a few very good things. Food was very good in main dinning and exceptional in the crown gill and sabatini's a;ong with the service there. Read Less

We went on a 10 day back to back for a total of 20 days. I had read some of the reviews of this ship and the food etc., but I tried to keep an open mind. I believe the quality of food has gone downhill dramatically. Lots of noodles and fish, but hardly no steak. The last Holland America cruise we were on had steak offered every meal. The buffet food was also luke warm at best and sometimes cold. The Salty Dog by the pool was definitely the best place to eat. Freshly made hamburgers and hot dogs. Very good. It seems like Princess is all about making the most money they can. The alcoholic drinks were over $8.00. That is ridiculous and $6.50 for a beer. I guess they have you hostage so they can charge whatever they want. Getting on and off the ship went very well. Their new method of paymnet on board (medallion ) was ok but I didn't like the fact that you didn't get a receipt when you purchased a drink. You had no idea what you were being charged. We will never go on a Princess Cruise again. We will stick with Holland America. Read Less

I selected this cruise because of the good itinerary. I enjoyed all destinations. My problem was with the Crown Princess ship and services. The food was the worst I’ve experienced on any cruise. Everything is very controlled. Only option for beverage in cafeteria for self serve is water or ice tea. There is a sign stating you can request lemonade from a server. And then you stand there and wait while they run in back. No juice dispensers as I’ve experienced on other cruises and not offered at breakfast. Only coffee is suggested. Ship is very dated with limited amenities. Ship very run down especially Furniture and balcony and pool deck chairs. Very uncomfortable. The spa never returned my requests. Staff doesn’t know where anything is. I never had one server on pool deck ask if I wanted a beverage. I guess now they assume you will just go up to the bar and wait in line. Food in anytime dining was disappointing. Everything served barely warm in temperature and lack of flavor. No salt on anything. Mostly the same food ingredients just repurposed and made a different way. All the best seating is reserved for Elite passengers even if no one shows up to sit at the table. Read Less

We did have 2 balcony cabins on deck 10 Caribe. Embarkation was swift and without a problem. The cabins, what to say about the cabins. The wear and tear is visible all over. The floors of the balconies were full of rust, paint spatters all over. Modern travelers carry with them a multitude of electric equipment, like phones and tablets. There is no way to charge them. There are 2 outlets hidden under the hair drier. If you use one you can't use the other. (See picture). So you ending up permanently trying to charge your electric equipment. The beds are good. But the cabins are really in for a refurbishment and a major one too. The best thing about the ship is the crew, in general friendly and helpfull. The food is at best very very average, sometimes even below par. Variation is minimal, certainly at the buffet. The any time dining was just OK, but also here the choices are minimal. The buffet certainly on the sea days is crowded, but still they keep the buffet at the 2nd part of the horizon closed. The first part is crowded so you have to walk to the second part for any seating at all. Lemonade is only available from the waiting staff, why? This is sooo slow! Entertainment, never experienced it so bad. The show in the theater "Blame it on the boogie" is 32 minutes!! All the other shows are also very short ones. Is in and out again. There was no change of the music, so after hearing the same band for 3 days on 3 different stages you've heard their repertoire, but you have to go for another 7 days with them. Fitness, 5 running machines were broken during the whole cruise. In the mornings allways very crowded. For what you have to pay this is a poor quality. I compare it with Norwegian and Celebrity and Princess is losing this here on most areas. Our first Princess Cruise but definitely the last Read Less

The 10 day southern Caribbean cruise on the Crown Princess was mediocre at best. The food was sub-par and the staff was not friendly or courteous. The Crown Grill we paid extra for was a great meal but Sabitini’s main course was inedible and no one on staff or the maître d seemed to care. Definitely not worth the extra money. The fish and lobster were always either mushy or tough. The buffet was boring, had very little variety and was not very appetizing compared to other ships I have been on where the food has been incredible. The entertainment was boring and repetitious. Every cruise passenger we spoke to only had negative comments to make about the food and staff. We felt the room service staff provided great service. We enjoyed the Lido deck hot dog and hamburger bar. The Medallion service was extremely frustrating and a waste of time. When it was working it kept showing we were on the Regal Princess, we didn’t take the cruise to spend all of our time on the phone. We couldn’t locate each other, order drinks or food to our locations on the ship. Unfortunately there was a large LGBTQ community on the ship and one group took over one area of the ship, acting in a very inappropriate manner in and out of the pool area even when children were around. Passengers and staff alike were embarrassed and very put off by their actions. Everyone on the cruise were commenting on how uncomfortable they were by the inappropriate behaviour. We are very open but this was way over the top. Don’t pay your gratuities in advance! We had excellent service from a few staff and we paid them directly. There were so many service staff who didn’t provide good service and they should not be automatically paid a tip for poor service. It was very frustrating to see some really good staff working their butts off while others either didn’t pull their weight, screwed orders up or weren’t helping out and just going through the motions. They didn’t smile or say hi or good morning. Princess usually has much higher standards! Overall we were very disappointed with this cruise. The ports of call were lovely and we enjoyed those But everything else was definitely below par. You obviously have to spend way more money on your cruise if you want to have the level of service, meals and entertainment to suit your needs. I would not recommend this cruise. I don’t usually give bad reviews but had to this time around! Read Less

We went with a large group (100+) organized by a very reputable agency. The agency owner & key organizer traveled with us & did their best to address issues, but... The room was consistently over 75 Fahrenheit - even after two visits from engineering staff. Front desk said it wasn't possible to send a fan... In a truly bizarre twist, the cold water was over 100 Fahrenheit - I've never before had a hot cold shower. Before booking, specified that we would need multiple electrical outlets at bedside (both use CPAP + other med device) - no problem. When we arrived, there was a 1-outlet extension cord & no outlets near bed. It took 2 calls & 3 increasingly heated visits to customer service before finally getting a 3-outlet strip to use with the cord. Partner uses a 48-lb collapsible power chair, but can do short standing transfers. There are no accessible excursions on this voyage... none. Had a great time on the islands hiring our own (considerably cheaper) private excursion or renting a car. Cabin hallways are consistently clogged with housekeeping carts. The cruise director is regularly on the overhead screeching about the latest sale & the entire ship is designed around squeezing out every dollar possible. The 'Sports Deck' has no sports... it's the kid's area. Highlights Some of the staff were truly exceptional. Some of the dining room dishes were excellent and creative. Most of the theater presentations were excellent. Read Less

I was forced to used a credit from a previous cruise where I purchased the best insurance package thru Princess. After my Father could not continue because his health deteriated we argued to no avail that his condition was predicted and had to use this credit by the end of the year. We went on our anniversary. We waited 2 hours in a cattle guard typ atmosphere to board the ship. They lost my breakfast order without telling me I had to go ask after waiting 20 minutes then tried to give me somebody's order. was disappointed that a soft drink was almost $3.00 and a mixed drinkwere almost double what I pay back home. I guess we were a captive audiance. We were scanned at all ports in case we were sneaking booze on.We can't tip for good service anymore. An amount is added to our account for each of us everyday even if you stayed in your room like my wife did one day (sick). What incentive is there to give good service. Our main dining servers were great and deserved what they gotOur room was dusty and dirty however the bed was made when we left the room in the morning. I guess there's more but I'm tired of typing. This cruise was a disappointment. Two ports were cancelled (one third of the total) because of weather and no alternate ports were substituted thiugh it seems like they could have easily been added without a deviation from the revised route. The onboard activities were uninteresting, consisting of things like zumba classes, line dancing, and penny whistle classes. There was only one enrichment speaker, scheduled for early in the mornings, and a few talks by bridge crew. Other “enrichment” activities were sales pitches for jewelry, art, or spa offerings. The lack of activities was a real disappointment, especially given that we had eight consecutive sea days. In addition, though the ship was attractive, inside public areas lacked space where passengers could just sit and enjoy a view of the ocean. The atrium was attractive, but provided totally inadequate seating space for those wanting to watch and listen to the entertainers performing there. On the plus side, the food was quite good, and the cabin (interior) reasonably comfortable, although the shower was cramped and the shower head was too low for anyone taller than about 5’10”. Evening entertainment was adequate, although it was often difficult to find seating. This was my first cruise with Princess, and I’ll probably not be sailing with them again. Read Less

We will have to laugh about this cruise, but want to let others know that a repositioning cruise might not be for everyone. It was unfortunate that we didn't have a better idea about what to expect, and what we want is to let others know, and perhaps avoid disappointment for them. We left from Southampton on Sept. 22, and sailed to Brugge/Belgium, where we had a great shore excursion. Then on to Isle of Portland, England. We were not able to dock there due to unsafe weather conditions. This is a great cruise for folks who enjoy staying onboard even during the stops at the ports, and just enjoy being on the ocean for many days at a time. My husband and I like a little more variety, and look forward to the shore excursions and learning about the people who live in the different ports. That just put us on the sea too many long days. We would suggest that the end of Sept. is too late to be in those parts. Also an older crowd on this ship. On to Burgundy, France, which was just not a great stop. The winery tour just didn't do it for us. Our next stop was Bilbao, Spain. We did dock, and had plans for a great shore excursion, but when we looked at our actual tickets, it was just too strenuous for us, compared to what we had read in the description. Other excursions were sold out, so, oh well...stuff happens. Now, on to Lisbon, Portugal, and that was a wonderful excursion, and a great day. The Azores Islands were our last scheduled port, and the one that we most looked forward to. Nope! Hurricane Lorenzo was headed there too, so we turned tail and sailed away. The captain made a great decision that time too, so we had 8 more days on the ocean. Ugh...don't take this cruise during hurricane season! Lucky for us, we met some great new friends, and had partners for Rummy 500 every day. Trivia is always fun. Performances at Princess Theatre were just a little too opera-like for our taste. We also had some nice, warm days on the deck in the shade. As you will see from my scoring, we were very happy with the crew, room steward and all of the great wait staff who were right there for us. The food was great, as usual... Some unfortunate events, which started with the fact that we boarded a ship full of sick folks in Southampton. They were carrying over from earlier cruises. Bad chest cold...everyone had the same horrible cough...others had some kind of flu, and had to be quarantined to their cabins. We got sick, yes, as careful as we were, but we got over it in a few days. Even had a couple of unfortunate folks who had to be evacuated from the ship due to illness. Our most huge mistake was not getting a balcony cabin. Our inside cabin was plenty roomy, but we needed fresh air in our cabin! The best item that we brought onboard was a fan! I am posting cabin photos. R515 interior cabin. Read Less

When looking for a British Isle vacation, this Princess Cruise seemed to be our best fit.... I wish we could have a do-over. The ship was older and the layout for many areas was poor. But we could have over-looked many of the negatives if the food and activities on the ship were, at least, tolerable. That was not the case. The food in the buffet, (which is our go-to after a long day) was, terrible. After trying every salad dressing, I gave up on eating salads on this trip. Desserts were also not worth eating. Each one of us (5 in our group) found a few things that we could tolerate eating. We then ate those few things throughout the trip. Towards the end, we found ourselves eating cheeseburgers and pizza on deck 15... not what we had in mind for good cruise food. We ate at the Crown Grill and Sabatini’s. Though our meals were better than the buffet or the dining room foods, we would never have returned If these were restaurants in our own city. And paying $29/person was quite a bit for a meal that consisted of, for example, noodles with jarred Alfredo sauce and crumbled bacon. The, much promoted, chocolate desserts were comical to us. The quality was extremely low. In addition to the food, we purchased the alcohol packages for 4 of our 5... (our fifth doesn’t drink.). That fifth person was billed for drinks that the others drank ... not sure how that’s even possible with the new Medallion. At the bar, we also found that many of the wines were priced outside the alcohol package. So to have a good glass of wine, (like a drinkable Pinot Grigio) one would have to pay for it ... even though they had bought an alcohol package. And the coffee ... was so terrible. To get a normal cup of coffee, we had to go to the Cafe and stand in a long line. The restaurants and buffets served a coffee product ... bad stuff. The two things that were great about this cruise were the itinerary and the beds. We had saved for a year for this vacation and were so disappointed that we chose a Princess Cruise Ship. We will never make that mistake again. Read Less

We have been on about a dozen cruises, yet this was our first with Princess. The cruise began well enough. We embarked in Dublin and were literally in our cabin five minutes after arriving at the port. Unfortunately, it was all downhill from there. The room was an unobstructed Oceanview in a quiet area of the ship. The shower consistently flooded, the faucet water rarely produced anything but piping hot water, and exhaust while in port was potent throughout most cabins. The food in the main dining room was really mediocre when compared with every cruise line we've taken, and our waiter was...also for the first time...less than friendly. We ate at the buffet a few times...the food was kept lukewarm, they were always out of several dishes, and the spread is so small we couldn't believe it. Pizza also wasn't anywhere near as good as its been on any other cruise line. I had a milkshake at the ice cream vendor...it was so bad...depressing. The ports were the highlight of the cruise. There are many...only a few sea days on this cruise. Unfortunately, the ship remains in port very late, which means the shops and casino are closed often. In addition, there aren't many activities going on except on sea days. The result was more time spent without entertainment in the evenings or those days we didn't go ashore. I know this sounds bad, and I've read and dismissed my share of these...please heed my advice and book a different cruise. We ended up changing our flight and disembarking a few days early because we had such a poor time. I am writing this as we sit...and have been sitting...onboard waiting to disembark. We've sat here for over an hour already with our disembarkation group. This will be our last Princess cruise. Read Less

The Itinerary of the Cruise was extremely appealing and the truth is that the ports of call were wonderful and we very much enjoyed all of our excursions and ports of call. The specialty restaurants were outstanding and the Da Vinci restaurant was very good. We found the food to be very good. The customer service and communications on board the ship were severely lacking. We received multiple communications that contradicted themselves; the front customer service desk did not know how to respond to basic questions; rarely did any of the ships officers have eye contact with the guests or smile at them. We were awakened in the middle of the night with announcements that could have waited until morning. The medallion system was a nightmare - sometimes working and sometimes not. There is ZERO commitment to providing the customer with a memorable positive experience. Embarkation and disembarkation were absolute chaos. Meal quality definately has declined. Dining room service was rushed. Since carnival acquired princess the past two cruises have been less than satisfying. On board pricing has increased and quality has declined. Internet service poorly set up. New medallion concept confusing to staff. We were locked out of our cabin on one occasion. Can no longer recommend Princess as worth the money to cruise. I am just short of elite status but will no longer choose Princess as my go to cruise company. I feel quite conflicted over my review as Princess was an exceptional cruise line. It has changed quite dramatically. It feels like passengers are simply revenue makers. The personal touch of the past is missing. My next cruise will probably be with a high end line so I get what I paid. Read Less

The itinerary is great and one would think that it would be perfect. THINK AGAIN. First, this is the first time I have ever had my passport confiscated on arrival. I have cruised all over the world and this has never happened. IF this is necessary, tell people before they board the ship because when you get of the ship at a port WHAT ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO USE AS IDENTIFICATION???? Second: the food is poor. Simply put tasteless and odorless. It is a telling indication when the MAIN DINING room menu has "upgrades" on it. In other words, you want good food pay extra. We did have dinner in Sabatini's which was NOT bad, but not great either. Second; who is the captain of the ship?? GILLIGAN and the Skipper. We disembarked from two ports late allegedly for low tide issues. Last time I checked, Tide tables are well know to ships masters. Schedule accordingly. And of course getting to the Orkney Island on a Sunday when HALF OF THE ISLAND is closed must make a lot of sense to the Princess People. But the ultimate indignity was the last stop in LeHavre. We book a Normany tour four months ago with PRINCESS only to find out three days INTO THE CRUISE that they were cancelling it on us because we were disembarking in LeHavre. THEY DID NOT KNOW THIS before I boarded the ship???? [Purportedly the reason is that we could not get off the boat in time to make the tour, I guess making sure that we COULD would have been too tough????] It caused hotel/train expenses for us in the hundreds. But truthfully I was glad to get off of this boat. I have cruised Royal Carib, Norweigian, Carnival, and Holland, and WILL NEVER set foot on a princess boat again. In FAIRNESS: Cabin was clean and the staff in the dining room was nice . And on the ten days, three days on entertainment were professional. The rest of it was like a HS talent show. Read Less

When on our previous 24 cruises with other cruise lines, we often saw Princess ships in port. We always admired the look of these and since they attract quite a high "official" rating, we decided that one day we would sail Princess. We live in the UK so when the Round Great Britain programme featured the Crown Princess, we booked with excited anticipation. Oh dear....we were so let down and felt so disappointed with the reality, so here goes: The personal highlights of cruising for me are exceptionally good food and very good theatre entertainment evenings. This cruise let us down badly as the food in MDR I would rate from fair to very poor and the Buffet only fair in terms of quality. The entertainment arrangements were crazy as most evenings there would be one comedian or one singer, on stage twice in the main theatre whllst the singers/dancers team were featured for only one performance in a relatively small lounge which was full, so that guests were blocking the passage-way outside of the lounge trying to watch the performance. The quality of the "shows" was, overall, mediocre, with people seen to be walking out on the act on several occasions. The ports of call were fine, but we were surprised to have to pay unreasonably high costs for shuttle bus transfers into town on occasions. Drinks were more expensive than I have seen anywhere and when served were never accompanied with a receipt, so I had no idea how expensive until I called up an account statement later. I never bought a drink after that. The Spa costs were prohibitive, so we didn't use this facility. On the positive side, the room steward was exceptionally good, as was our waiter in the MDR. In fact, all staff were pleasant, cheerful and hard working. In fact, I feel that these people "save the day" for Princess and I hope that they are suitably rewarded for doing so. On the subject of crew, i only saw one middle ranking ships officer (who had dropped into the buffet for a snack) anywhere until dis-embarcation, when some appeared to organise the process. The ship's condition was very good and very clean and our stateroom was immaculate. Would we travel again with Princess.....NO Read Less

We have experience on four different cruise lines. This cruise took us to the British Isles aboard the Crown Princess, It was our first and last with Princess Lines. With the exception of entertainment the most comfortable bed ever, and our cabin steward, everything was below average, We are not whiners and try to look for the best so I'll share a few examples to document our disappointment. Ship breakdowns caused delays and many missed excursions. (100 dollars onboard credit issued as compensation) The second-day departures for excursions was absolute chaos, Staff seemed to be as uninformed and confused as passengers. Room Service breakfast was cold cereal or mass produced baked items that were of vending machine quality or egg muffin (arrived cold and soggy) we gave up after two mornings. Buffet meals were barely warm and bland. We had any time evening dining. Menus were average and service was rushed. Severs were rushed and snippy if a diner changed an order or asked questions. On two occasions people at our table sent meals back because they were so poorly prepared, Lobster tail night presented a mini lobster tail about the size offered at stake and lobster night at budget steakhouses, Most conversations (even from Princess veterans) at dinner centered around the poor food and service and day-to-day sometimes outrageous hassles. The last night when the Chef and kitchen staff were introduced, the host asked the diners to give them a 10 on post cruise surveys. Our balcony stateroom did not have a couch or leisure chair. It was the desk chair or the bed, Railing was pealing varnish. Large screen TV, that kept failing the first two days of the cruise, Our lunch river cruise on the Paris excursion was literally a bad dream. The barge was more crowded than airline economy coach seating, They said the vessel was air conditioned, but I couldn't detect any. Almost everyone was using brochures to fan their faces. The noise was so intense from loud intoxicated guests narration, and the music and singer could not be heard. Sone excursions advertised on your own time for shopping or exploring. It was true but the time was 15 minutes max. In Paris that meant time for a picture of the Eiffel Tower and a single souvenir kiosk. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of its itinerary. I realize we may be somewhat jaded because we mostly travel on smaller luxury cruise lines, so I will begin with the positives. During our cruise the company upgraded their software in an attempt to improve their Internet, door locks and security system. Their service in most of their restaurants was very good and the food in their specialty restaurant, Crown Grill, was truly excellent. The gym and spa were also very nice. Other than that, our experience on Princess convinced us that we would never travel with them again. My sincere apologies to those of you who repeatedly cruise on Princess. However, what we discovered is that the vast majority of people who do more than one or two cruises with Princess have never even tried any other cruise line. Those few who had, only have compared it to Carnival, RCCL or NCL. Let me tell you there is a whole different world out there. Our current voyage began with a delay of 5+ hours. We were informed via text on the morning of our sailing that the ship had a problem with their generator and that we should not go to the docks, but that they had arranged with a local hotel to “house” us and they would shuttle us over when the ship was ready to board. It was a disaster. Over three hundred people were in the lobby and restaurants of the hotel. People were lying on couches, on the stairs and virtually everywhere. No food was served, no information given, as apparently the cruise line representatives at the hotel knew as little as we did. When we finally were shuttled over, the check-in process was a mess. We were assigned to a line. Then the disabled passengers were assigned to the same line and moved ahead of us. Finally, we made it through the line and were given the OK to board just as the ship’s excursions for that day were returning. The line to board the ship was around the block...and, oh yes, it was raining. The problems did not end there. Internet - The Internet on most ships is slow. Princess internet was nearly non-existent. I couldn’t even get my email. I went to the Internet cafe which is rarely covered by staff and was told that the connection was totally down and that I would be better off in my stateroom then in their computer room. Huh? I found the only time I could get a connection was while we were in port, either using my cell phone or in some ports using the wi-fi of the port, certainly not from the ship’s wi-fi for which I had paid $159. After the new system was installed on our next to last day, the connection did get better and we got those two days for free. For the others the cost of Internet has gone up dramatically. Ship’s staff - On the second day, the schedule said they were having a ping pong tournament. Passengers showed up, but no one from the ship’s staff did. The only time we ever saw the ship’s social director was when he introduced the evening’s entertainment. It wasn’t that he was a negative, he just didn’t exist. We also had very little contact with our cabin steward which we found to be very unusual. Food - Other than the Crown Grill specialty restaurant, the food on Princess is so far inferior to other cruise lines, I can’t imagine where they hired their chefs. We were on Club Level, so we were able to go to a different restaurant. Same food, slightly better service and quieter...but they did not have tables to share, which is our preference. There were several days when the menu choices were so limited, we had a difficult time finding something to order. For breakfast, we did have very good service and better food in our club class dining room. Then came the “coup de grace”. At breakfast in our special section, the waiter spilled tomato juice down the back of my wife’s new cashmere sweater. They apologized and promised to clean it and bring it to our room. Apparently, they tried to wash and machine dry it because it was shrunk and totally ruined. Who machine dries a cashmere sweater? We then got a call telling us to come to the front desk and file a claim. When we read the form in big bold print it says this is not a claim, it is just documentation of the event. When we tried to show them the form, the staff person began arguing with us. Entertainment – very inconsistent; some good; some poor Announcements – although they said they would not broadcast into the cabins, they did. Lines – the lines to get off and on the ship were long and tiresome. Overall, although we did like the itinerary, we would never cruise with Princess again. Read Less

I chose this cruise specifically due to the fact that it included Liverpool and a Deluxe Beatles tour that included access to inside tours of John Lennon and Paul McCartney's childhood homes. Due to a series of events, my excursion was cancelled and I was told there was no room of any of the three lesser Beatles tours available. What lead to this? First, bad weather prevented us from tendering at Guernsey (which we heard from others happens quite often so I am wondering why it is included as a port). We headed on to Cobh where, as we docked, there was a problem with a generator which the captain said he had never experienced. We limped into Dublin hours late and extended that stay which made us late into Liverpool and resulted in the cancellation of my Deluxe Beatles excursion. In the mean time, our toilet had been running, so we reported it but got no one to look at it. Our toilet stopped flushing, so we reported it. After a while someone came to "fix" it and, as a result, our toilet overflowed, filling roughly 1/3 of the balcony cabin. Items we'd had on the floor were moved (including my husband's soaked shirt), the padding under the carpet was removed, a wet vacuum was used on the carpet, and large fans were placed in the room to dry the carpet. The fans had blown out the power so there was no air conditioning. We were told there was no other room to stay in for the night and that the best they could offer was to turn off the fans for the night. After my husband spent over an hour dealing with a supervisor who told us there was no other cabin available she finally found a single interior room that we could use for that night. My husband canceled his Wales excursion to help me find Beatle-related activities to do in Liverpool the next day. His excursion had been taken down to about half what it was supposed to be anyway due to the time constraints that resulted from the late arrival in Liverpool. Everyone on the cruise was given $100 onboard spending money for the troubles with the itinerary. My husband and I were each given $100 each for the trouble with the cabin, but I can't get back to Liverpool, take the tour I wanted and get back home on $100. Weather issues can happen on a cruise. Mechanical issues can happen too. But someone made the call that we should extend the stay in Dublin at the expense of the Liverpool stay. I guess they assumed that more people would want the time in Dublin than to arrive on time in Liverpool - but it would not have been my choice. We were so late into Dublin anyway that those who tried to make it to the Trinity Library to see the Book of Kells had the door shut in their faces. Read Less

This was my 15th cruise and my third with Princess. The quality has definitely declined since the merger. We we first ordered to surrender our passports!?! Before boarding the ship. I can’t believe Princess would send passengers into a foreign country on the excursions after taking their passports and refusing to give them back! Princess stated that was a rule of the embarkation group who are not affiliated with the company!? They are dealing with every single customer of yours and handing over all the passports to ship personnel who refuse to return them. Some passports were misplaced (horrifying experience when trying to return back to your country)! There were only two employees to handle all the shore excusion activity when we docked at each port The boat had a mechanical failure which forced the captain to cancel a port altogether and wait for 8 hours outside Dublin for high tide. This has happened on other boats from time to time, but there we’re “projects” a crew member was attempting to fix all around the boat. The engine, the elevator(people did get stuck), numerous flooring issues taped off, room attendant carts constantly parked in hallways, etc. This went far beyond the routine “wet paint” areas you normally see. The dining staff we always in a frantic rush due to lack of enough staff. Mistakes were very common. The employees genuinely wanted to give excellent service, but were overwhelmed. The menu was disappointing. Each night came with an insert menu listing better dishes for an additional $20 per person. This cheapened the original menu items and made a family of 6 pay and additional $120 a night if the wanted to try an excellent dish! Unbelievable! Due to my past two excellent Princess experiences, I found myself making excuses for Princess to my friends and family. When we returned home and remembered all the negative experiences, we were disappointed that we chose Princess. Read Less

Chose cruise to visit places we had not been before. For most part enjoyed our trip but: Buffet - hot food was cold - cold food was warm - salad bar was good. Dining room meals good Shops - lots of booze, candy, jewelry, clothes, souvenirs, etc. - first night someone asked for halls candy for sore throat - not available - week later heard same question and same response. Entertainment was good. Excursions very expensive and not accurately described. Travel time for excursions did not leave enough time to actually see what you went to see. Ship breakdowns frustrating, onboard construction and refurbishing interfered with trip. Captain kept us informed of problems but $100.00 rebate was a joke. Missing Guernsey was a highlight for us and we missed it because of ship breakdown and bad weather. Appreciate safety concern BUT. Understand Guernsey is quite often missed as it is to rough for Tenders so why continue to include it as a stop? Noticed immediately upon getting on ship a lot of people with terrible deep cough, some wearing masks. We took all precautions to wash hands regularly and avoid sick people BUT on Thursday June 13 we started with sore throat and by Saturday the cough. Where able to do Edinburgh but glad Sunday was sea day. 18 Hour travel time home on Monday was horrendous. Emergency Room Tuesday morning - we both have pneumonia and still recovering three weeks later. How many other people from this Cruise are experiencing the Will never travel with Princess ever again and will not recommend it to anyone. Read Less

We have cruised 18 times with Princess and with the exception of this last cruise, it has always been excellent. This cruise was a bargain basement boat ride. It was a costly, disorganized, irritating disaster. The Versailles tour was an aggravating nightmare, depriving us of the opportunity of a lifetime. Princess was responsible for a 45 minute late start. The tour category of moderate should have been strenuous. Our tour guide was preoccupied with participants, including wheelchair and walkers who needed assistance. Consequently, we got an expensive bus ride and a quick look at the palace. No time for the grounds, musical presentation or gift shop. Do not pay for the useless Dublin shuttle service. It is much less expensive and more convenient to taxi. Our balcony looked like a leftover garage sale. On the plus side; the staff was courteous and helpful. The service and food at the dining room was very good. Sabatini's was better than ever and the Crown Grill was first class. The production shows were fun, lively and entertaining . We did not "Come Back New", we came back angry. Princess WAS "Where We Belong". We hope they fix it. Read Less
