Cruise was great. Hats off to Keith and Karen for planning our meet and greet, cabin crawl, and slot pull! These activities made our cruise even more enjoyable. Met many great people. The entertainment in the theater was the best of any cruise we have taken. Corey and company were very approachable. Saw the Captain out and about on the ship and he would always stop and talk with us. Our early dining DaVinci wait staff were outstanding. Milos and Ben table 459 were great. We had dinner in Crown Grill for our anniversary which was a nice surprise, but service was a bit shaky. My sea bass was delicious! My friends steak (ribeye). Was very tough. She was given a new steak, but it came on a plain plate without the sauce that was described on the menu. Dessert sampler was good but took over 15-20 minutes to arrive. I had lemon meringue pie that was wonderful. Read Less

Wanted to take my son and his family on a snorkling cruise. Chose Princess because of the island choices. Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao were exactly what I wanted. This cruise did not disappoint! The ship is not a mega ship. The rooms were smaller than we expected. Crew was great. Dining room wait staff was phenomenal! Bonaire had the best snorkling ever. We took a cab to Coco Beach. Public beach with beach chair rentals. More fish than we expected. Parrot fish, angel fish and even barracuda. Eye to eye with a barracuda was an exciting experience! Aruba..we took a ship excursion to DePalm island. $99 per person but a bus from the ship to the ferry..then breakfast, drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic) were included. Lunch..sit down with lots of sides and dessert. Also, hamburgers and fries or hot dogs at the beachside. There was ziplining, banana boat ride, bungee jumping, snorkling, water slide park for the little ones with lifeguards. Lots of sun or shade. Curacao took a cab to Mambo beach. It is at a resort. Cab was $2.50 per person. Beautiful beach. Lots of nice shops in the city of Curacao. Days at sea were relaxing. Little ones wished there was a waterslide but took advantage of the kids camp and arts and crafts. They loved the first run movies under the stars. Best food out of any cruiseline we have travelled. Beds were new. The ship is now in drydock. Had a blast! Would definitely do this trip again! Read Less

Crown Princess Review My review will highlight various areas, and hopefully you can pick and choose the options you wish to read, or read in its entirety! My hope is that it will help you. SUMMARY – This was a wonderful, relaxing cruise and offered great amenities, entertainment and was much more adult oriented. Overall, it was one of our favorite cruises because I relaxed. It was quieter and more subdued than most of the cruises I have been on, which was quite enjoyable. We both discussed that this was one of the most relaxing cruises we had been on and we thoroughly loved Princess. I would personally say that Princess is a step above some of the other lines, and the food quality is where I would say it is most noticeable. The service was always very good, and our room steward was exceptionally kind and helpful. I never felt the overcrowding that I have always noticed on prior cruises. That was exceptional. The difference between this cruise and others was truly the atmosphere. The ship was overall much quieter than other cruises we have been on with Royal, Norwegian and Carnival. I suspected that since it was over Spring Break, we might have a younger crowd, but there were only a few kids onboard. On other lines, I notice that I experience what I refer to as “sensory overload”. When the music is blaring and you cannot hold a conversation, it is just not enjoyable to me. Some people don’t mind it and love it, but I can only handle for brief periods of time. I do tend to hear background noises more than others and am unable to “tune it out!” As such, I believe that is why it is more noticeable to me. If you prefer a quieter setting, I always recommend the Havana on Carnival which is amazing, and then on Norwegian, the Haven is another incredible atmosphere. So there are options to have the same experience, but they do come at an additional cost. This was a great match for us, and I would highly recommend for certain people. PRE-HOTEL STAY – We stayed at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina. We had a standard room, and it wasn’t very large, but we did enjoy a very nice view of the ship the following morning. We met up with some of our group that night, and enjoyed a nice table overlooking the Marina. We had an appetizer and drinks which were very good. It was a great place to sit outside and enjoy that evening before the cruise. I would definitely recommend due to the location. In the morning we did have room service, and the food was very good (expensive, but worth it). TRANSPORTATION TO PORT – We had arranged for a taxi, however, they didn’t arrive, so we utilized transport from the hotel which worked out well. The arrival was very busy, but the driver got us right through. EMBARKATION – Arrived at the terminal and went through the boarding process and onto the priority lounge around 11 a.m. We waited for about an hour and then were allowed to board. The rooms were ready around 1:30 p.m. SHIP – The ship was very pretty and had many beautiful, intricate details. I still personally think that Royal builds the most gorgeous interiors for ships, but Princess would come in very close. Overall, I think all of the lines have incredible ships, but the amenities are what make the differences, and that depends on what you want. SAILAWAY - This is much more subdued than any other line. I am accustomed to the line dances and hundreds of people onboard participating in the Electric Slide, Cha cha slide, Wobble, among others. This was not the case onboard Princess. I did follow the tunes of the familiar sounding music, which lead me to about 20-30 others (8 of which were Princess employees) who were doing the line dances, so I went out there with them. It was definitely fun, but very different from what I am accustomed to! GROUP CRUISE - We had a FB group set up for this trip and we enjoyed a nice get together in our cabin. It was wonderful having the chance to meet up with so many in the PCL and the Castaways group and I was thrilled to be able to host. We all made new friends on this trip. CABIN – We originally booked an aft balcony but decided to upgrade to an aft suite, and I am glad that we did. I love aft cabins at the back of the ship to look at the wake. We thoroughly enjoyed the balcony and used it every single day. I know some people don’t spend much time in their cabins, but we do, and just watching the ocean, so it was nice to have the larger balcony and beautiful view! We also held a party for our group, and everyone was comfortable inside the cabin! It was very large. The toilet and the shower were separate from one another which was also nice. It also offered a jetted bath tub. The size of the bathroom was very nice and comfortable. The beds were AMAZING. They were very comfortable to sleep in, and Princess did a nice job of selecting their new mattresses. We slept quite well. The balcony, you just can’t ask for a better view. It was fantastic. We did have some vibration in the back, but that is expected when you are in the aft. It was more noticeable on the first couple days, and then it improved. We were told some others had some loud noises on the aft area and that they had been working on it, and then it improved. That may have been why ours seemed to be less noticeable as well. IMPROVEMENT - On other lines, with suite guests, you receive extra perks, such as alcohol, wifi, specialty dining, private areas with private decks/pools/hot tubs. Although Princess does offer the suite breakfast and club class dining, I feel they lack in the “extras” for suite guests in the perks department. Given what you pay for a suite, I do believe they could add the extras in and include in the pricing to be more competitive with other lines. I’ve never heard complaints about that, but I believe most who sail on Princess tend to be very loyal to their line (for good reason) and simply haven’t experienced what other lines offer. I don’t think they necessarily need to add extra spaces for suite guests (and they do have some on the newer ships), but perks would be nice. DECK/LOUNGE CHAIRS/SPACE – This is the fantastic aspect on this cruise. You do not need to get up at the crack of dawn to save a deck chair. They have plenty! Because Princess caters to a more adult crowd, they are lacking the space utilized for waterparks, ropes courses, ice rinks, etc...on other lines. As such, there is more free flowing space. That was definitely a great attribute. SERVICE/STAFF – The staff were very kind, and I would say it was very similar to how we have been treated on other lines. I’ve always felt the staff are incredible, but I do think they were similar to my prior experiences. SANCTUARY - This was a beautiful display, and very relaxing. The area is so quiet and relaxing and beautiful. It isn’t needed for the entire trip, but it is nice to experience for one or two half days in my opinion. I would definitely do that again! STORES ONBOARD – We were very happy with the quality of the clothing and options they were selling on the ship at reasonable prices. NOROVIRUS – We were at a red level while onboard, and they were very good at passing out plates and silverware in the buffet and making sure that you used the antibacterial cleanser. CAPTAIN AND CREW They were somewhat visible during the cruise, but not like I have seen on other lines. NCL definitely had the best interaction with crew and members onboard. ROOM STEWARD Our room steward, Riz, was very nice and helpful. He talked to us and was enjoyable to be around. We felt that he did a very nice job, and was always on top of our cabin. He did request that we always use the door hanger so he knew when to come in. I think that does help them when they are cleaning so many cabins. BARTENDERS/SERVERS They have some great bartenders onboard. The aft deck, is where most people seemed to enjoy spending time because the bartenders were very interactive. At times you might have to wait, but for the most part, they were very good at keeping everyone happy. I felt they had enough staff and enough options around the ship that were open to cater to everyone. They do have some staff going around to check to see if you need a drink. POOLS There were plenty of pools, and they were never crowded or busy as I have seen on most other ships. Again, this was the highlight because of this fact. LOUNGE CHAIRS – Even on multiple sea days, you were able to find a spot. ICE CREAM - This is available for a certain period of time throughout the day, and you have to go to the counter. Most lines do offer self-serve cones/cups, but this worked out quite well. It was never a long wait, and the staff were very friendly. ENTERTAINMENT We attended the comedy show and it was hysterical, definitely one of the best comedians we have seen. He packed the house when everyone knew he was coming back. Many people went to multiple shows because he interacted with the crowd. We were told they had some incredible shows. CASINO We only visited once, and we always take a pre-set limit. I won back what we were willing to lose and then left. PORTS - This trip was scheduled to visit Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao, which were FANTASTIC islands. I was initially concerned about 4 sea days, but they were wonderful. Aruba – Aruba Trykes. This was likely the highlight of our excursions, we enjoyed this tour tremendously. We booked outside of Princess following a recommendation. We were taken on a guided tour for appx 4 hrs. The cost was $190 for the two of us, which I felt was very reasonable for the amount of time we spent, and the quality of the trykes we were on. They offer auto and manual trykes, so you need to pre-request what you want when you book. We saw so much while we were in Aruba and I would love to return. If you book this, I recommend that you do NOT wear a hat, but something you can tie onto your head. A hat can fly off easily given the speeds. It was a lot of fun!! Bonaire – We opted for a Princess tour on the Tuk Tuk, which is an electric vehicle. We took a tour around the island for about an hour. The guide was very nice, and she showed us various areas around the island. This is definitely the snorkelers and divers paradise. It was an enjoyable tour. Curacao – We walked around the shops, the island and over the swaying bridge. Then when we returned, we had gone to the Renaissance and booked a resort for a day direct through them when we arrived. We were able to actually book a room because they had availability. It was wonderful. We laid out on the beach by the ocean/pool during the afternoon and did enjoy a small appetizer and some drinks, it was very nice and relaxing. SPA We both had a massage and it was nice. For the cost, I would have gone four times to my normal massage therapist. It was nice, but not spectacular. GYM They have a very nice gym and it was well equipped and there were multiple classes each day. Some of the instructors were very motivating!! FOOD This is where Princess wins. We were very impressed with the food. I will say that we tend to do room service, and that food was consistently hot and served quickly. We cannot eat all the food they serve. The waiter in fact said that I was not on a wellness cruise and to eat more. I explained that I’d weigh 600 lbs if I ate what they served! However, they definitely give you far too much food. We needed half of the servings provided. We did specialty restaurants and club class dining and the buffet Salty Dog – This was hands down our FAVORITE. Others didn’t care for it, but we LOVED it. We had the tomato soup with grilled cheese, and the burger (no toppings/no bread). The initial appetizer of pretzel with a butter/garlic was incredible. This is one I would absolutely return to! Crown Grill – I was impressed with the speed of service because they were quite busy. We both had filet mignon, baked potato and smores dessert. It was very good, the meat was a tad dry, but everything was flavored well and I would recommend. Sabatinis – Again, I was impressed with the service and that they were able to move people in and out relatively quickly. Ordered manicotti only, told them I could just not eat four different options! They just provide far too much food! Club Class dining – this was very nice, our wait staff was quite good, and with my food allergies, they were very attentive like the other lines. That was greatly appreciated. The food in the dining was all very good, we were very pleased. We did not eat in the main dining room, but we did go to the buffet a couple times each for breakfast and for dinner. It was all very good. I just had meat and mashed potatoes and the turkey and roast beef were incredibly prepared and the potatoes were INCREDIBLE!! The food was definitely better quality on this cruise than some we have been on. CRUISE DIRECTOR – I am accustomed to having a very energetic cruise director who thrives on involving the crowd. Due to the vibe of this cruise, that was definitely not a priority. The role of a CD seems a little less important, and that was fine. INTERNET – this was about my only complaint. It’s horrible. I always work during vacation, and I simply could not respond to clients. I couldn’t access emails, I couldn’t load documents, it was very troubling. I finally did make my complaint to the internet manager, and he was very kind and worked with me given what I had spent to try to access. I’ve never had such an issue onboard, but they assured me that once the Medallion is added, it will improve dramatically. When you are an agent, not having internet access is simply not an option, so they do need to improve in this arena. DISEMBARKATION We had the luggage express, so we were one of the first to disembark. There was no line, we simply walked off, walked through customs and found a taxi. It was impressive to say the least! NCL and Princess have been the best as far as disembarkation in my mind. Good points on the Crown -The ship is smaller in size, it has sufficient pools and deck space for all to enjoy -This was one of the smoothest sailings I have been on - The specialty restaurants are amazing - Our comedian was one of the best I have ever seen. - Food even in the buffet was extremely good and well presented. I felt they were a few notches up in this department compared to other buffets on cruise lines - We didn’t attend many of the shows, but everyone raved about them - Deck chairs for movies under the stars are the BEST. They have pillows and offer towels and blankets and popcorn. That was really nice! - Points to improve upon: - Getting around the ship was a bit challenging since all of the decks don’t go through - Internet – awful - There was an altercation onboard the ship between an older couple and the man pushed his wife, and then pushed another lady who attempted to intervene. I was shocked that Princess did not remove the couple from the ship. That seemed very concerning to me for the safety of others. THINGS I LEARNED Go with an open mind. Do not try to pre-schedule everything, go with the flow and see what you want to do and ENJOY!! Do something new and different that you normally wouldn’t do. Personally, a suite was not worth it to me on Princess. In the future, I will opt for an aft balcony and do the specialty restaurants instead. For us, there weren’t enough inclusions for the additional cost, although it worked out perfectly for our party with everyone. I do not regret trying it out at all, but I may not splurge in the future for a suite on Princess, I would on another line just because the separated space IS needed. On Princess it just isn’t. But I do like to get the extra perks from other lines with the suite booking. So next time I will save some money and stay with my aft cabin. In summary, we purchased a future cruise certificate and plan to return to Princess in the future. Read Less

We picked this cruise line to experience the Princess Cruse line and so far it is one of the best cruise lines so far. We cruised to the Dominican Republic and the Turks and Caicos Islands the week of March 11-16, 2018. This cruise left out of Fort Lauderdale, Fl. Both Embarkation and Debarkation went smoothly. At debarktion we were able to get our luggage from the holding area immediately without having to search the assigned holding area. They kept all of our luggage for each traveler together which made it easier to spot right away in the holding area. The ship was very clean from beginning to end and if something was dropped it was immediately picked up. In the dining areas there was hand sanitizer to use before walking into the area and if you didn't use it guests were asked to please use it now. Every one was encouraged to wash hands with soap and water before coming to the dining areas first. The food was excellent for all 3 meals as well as any snacks. We especially enjoyed tea time which was a chance to sit and meet other cruisers . Entertainment was fun and as well as engaging. Services overall was great. Our cabin steward Emmanual was especially attentive to our room and really took care of us. He kept our room spotless. We had a mini-suite with a balcony. It was nice but could use some updating. The bedside tables could be replaced as the drawers stick and was hard to pull out. The fixtures and counter top as well as the bathtub could use some updating. The sofa for the third pulls out into a comfortable bed but the sofa itself is old and could use updating or replaced. Also the chairs in the buffet dining area could also use some updating or replacement. We visited two ports, Amber Cove and Grand Turk. The shore excursion at Amber Cove was excellent. We took the VIP Lifestyle and Serenity excursion. This was an excellent experience. We were greeted with Mimosas when we got off the bus and the drinks never stopped (all- inclusive). The beach was beautiful and there was beach beds both covered and uncovered for us to use and well as a full buffet lunch. The second day we visited Grand Turk and took the Rainbow Calypso Tram around the city. I would NOT recommend this particular excursion. The tram was old and dirty and rusty and needs to be replaced. We were taken to less desirable parts of the island which was dirty to put it mildly. Read Less

We chose the Crown Princess because our experience in November on Carnival was so awful and because the service on Royal Caribbean (our former favorite cruise line) is so lacking. We are so glad we tried Princess! First of all, I am not sure why there are several negative reviews regarding this ship and the staff. Every single person we encountered was friendly and smiling. All greeted us and made us feel welcomed and we got the feeling that they truly enjoyed their jobs. Especially wonderful were: Dario the ice-cream scooper, Roman the internet specialist, Betelguese in the Horizon Buffett, and Kenneth at the roulette table in the casino. What a happy, kind, caring bunch of employees! First, the bad (though it really wasn't bad at all): luggage drop-off in Ft. Lauderdale is very different from Port Canaveral. One must maneuver the luggage and oneself across three lanes of stopped traffic (because everyone is dropping off luggage) to get to the porter. They do not come to you, they stay in the shade. Then you park and have to walk through that loop of cars again to get in the building. We parked in Terminal 19, boarded at Terminal 19, but after the cruise the ship docked at Terminal 2. There was a very long line to get on the buses to take us to the parking garage and the lines were not moving. We opted for a taxi at a cost of $7.70 (we were 1.5 miles away at the other terminal). Because we felt bad for the driver, getting such a small fare, we gave him a $20. The driver told us this happens a lot at the port and I'm not sure why since the Crown was the only ship returning that Friday morning. Everything else was simply perfect. The muster drill was held in a lounge, so we got to sit instead of being crammed against a wall with sweaty bodies. Our cabin, C734, had the most comfortable bed and pillows and the coldest A/C. That deck has larger balconies and I thought it would be weird that everyone could see us and that we could see them. It wasn't. Everyone was just so jovial. The entertainment on the ship was the best of any of the 12 cruises we had been on previously. The magician astounded. The comedian had us rolling. The movies shown were first-run: The Greatest Showman, Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri, The Shape of Water, League of Justice. There was free popcorn, cozy blankets, and pads on the chairs with little pillows. One night there was stargazing and those interested were invited to Deck 17 Forward. The lights were turned off and the location of constellations identified. This was so much fun. Also, on the last full morning, there was a cooking show and it was hysterical. This was followed by a galley tour, completely free. The food was delicious. Our son gifted us with "Breakfast on the Balcony" and the steward came exactly at the time we requested and made it so beautiful with a tablecloth, champagne, coffee, salmon, quiche, pastries, and fruit. It was all just beautifully presented and it was private since that giant balcony also had an overhang. Most of the other passengers were a bit older, even though we went at the height of spring break. Everyone was polite and happy and just having a good time, just like us! In Amber Cove we were lucky enough to reserve an over the water cabana. It was the best day...so relaxing and the water so refreshing. If we go back to this port, we would definitely do this again. In Grand Turk, we rented ATV's to tour the island. It was not as advertised since we were supposed to go the a lighthouse for pictures and stop at a replica of John Glen's capsule. We didn't. However, we would do this excursion again because riding the ATV's was so much fun. They clean the helmets with Lysol. I saw it happen! This is one of the few times where we were sad that the vacation was ending. We were not ready to get off of this lovely ship. Our loyalty is now to Princess Cruises. We would have booked another cruise onboard, but the incentive wasn't as great as we had hoped. Read Less

We chose this cruise explicitly for the ABC islands and they didn't disappoint. Unique culture and flavor for each and we are already planning an extended stay at Aruba. The Crown is a bit tired, but this close to dry dock it was anticipated. No real complaints from us on the ship. Service was great, and all food was on par. Stand outs were the Ultimate Balcony Dinner, and the Crab Shack. 10 out of 10 on those in our opinion. The UBD is worth every nickel. It's an awesome meal and experience. Definitely will do again. Highly recommend the Sunset Cruise in Aruba and the golf cart rentals in Bonaire, as well as the glass bottom boat. I don't think there is a bad excursion on all three islands. These are awesome ports. You could easily spend a week at each port and not get enough IMO. Embarkation took one hour from taxi to our suite. We arrived at 11:30am. Debarking we left the room at 8am and we're in a taxi by 8:45. Great cruise. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it fit our timeframe and price. Embarkation was fast and easy. We used Park N Go, which I highly recommend. We were in the shuttle at 10:40 and onboard by 11:30! Very smooth! Our room was ready by 1:00 as promised. We had an OY obstructed view cabin E623. Our view was between 2 life boats but had plenty of Oceanview. It was located between the aft and mid elevators which was very convenient. The cabin was roomy with lots of storage. There were 2 night stands with 2 drawers and a cubby for storage. A desk with a door and 2 shelves. A fridge inside a cabinet with storage on top. A small table, lots of hanging space in the closet with a shelf above that. The bathroom had 3 shelves along the mirrors and a shelf below the sink. The shower is a good size and the shower curtain does NOT stick to you! There is shower gel and shampoo/conditioner in bottles in the shower. I did not use them so I don’t know how good they were. Our room attendant, Elizabeth Luna, was GREAT! I have been on 20 cruises and she was the best attendant I’ve ever had! We had Anytime dining but we only went to the dining room on formal night. It was nice, but we enjoyed the freedom and the food choices on the buffet better. The buffet was very well organized and laid out. An attendant gave you a plate and flatware only AFTER you used the hand sanitizer. One night Beef Medalions were on the buffet that were much better then the filet I was served in the dining room on formal night. We really enjoyed the entertainment by Motown singer, Solomon Jaye (I think that was his name) and the comedian, Steve Caouette, was fantastic! We also liked the Piano Bar. We did not attend any of the ship shows. Cruise Director Corey was really good. He seemed to be everywhere! Our ports were Roaten and Cozumel. Roatan was beautiful! We went to the last beach area and just relaxed! My only complaint was many of the plastic loungers were broken. I think Carnival Corp can afford some new ones! We only shopped the port area of Cozumel. I’ve been there many times and didn’t want to go into town. We did not have children with us. I would absolutely go on Crown again. Maybe next time to the ABC islands. Read Less

We had an absolutely amazing time on this cruise! We went with another couple and they loved it too! We flew into Fort Lauderdale the day of the cruise. Rookie mistake! The first leg of our flight was canceled so we drove to the connecting airport (a very long drive) and barely made it. Whew!! In reading other reviews, everyone suggests flying in the day before and staying in the city of departure. Lesson learned! Embarkation was smooth and easy, as was disembarkation. Having your documents all in order and easily accessible helps A LOT! The ship was clean and the staff were all very kind and helpful. The comedian was hilarious and the live show was superb! The guys were a bit irritated at first that the limit on the premier drink package was 15 per day but turns out that was plenty!! Anytime dining is so nice because it doesn't lock you into a time and although we had evenings in which we had to wait, it was always less than 10 minutes and everyone was exceptionally accommodating! We didn't do any excursions but the ports in Honduras and Cozumel are gorgeous! Highly recommend! Can't wait to go again! Read Less

Great cruise, had a wonderful time. Embarkation and De-embarkation was great. Entertainment and service were top notch. Dining and activities were excellent. We started off a bit rough as the seas were really high,I believe 3 meter seas, but after we got through the second sea day, it was smooth as glass. There were limited issues that Princess could control, my biggest complaint was the other passengers who reserved seats in the theater which is a clear violation of the policy. There were 2 night we missed a show because of other guest saving as many as 10 seats for friends and family. One night I sat in a seat and said, if your family shows up I'll move, which they never showed up. The dinner service and room service were spot on,I don't think we had a bad evening or meal. I did get my butt kicked at the spin class, way more tougher than I thought it would be. We had a great time at each port and the overall cruise was a excellent experience. Read Less

Very well maintained interior and heard it is going into dry dock for refurbishing soon. Comedian entertainment on Ship was very good. Anytime Dining was excellent and enjoyed having dinner with different cruisers each night. Even the buffets for lunch and dinner were very good. We have done a lot of all-inclusives over the past decade and really appreciate the better food on Princess lines. The embarkation was way ahead of schedule and we boarded the ship by 11:30. Our scheduled boarding time was 1 pm according to pre-cruise paperwork. We were thrilled to get on to early and so quickly. Loved that they didn't hound you with all those cruise pictures either. We love leaving the Midwest in the winter and head to the Caribbean. This was a great trip! The Crown is going into Dry Dock for some upgrades and I am sure they will all be great upgrades. We were lucky and already had the new mattress and loved it. The crew was amazing and did everything they could to help. Horizon Court is still a downfall for Princess. After having been on the Regal and seeing the new set up, it makes the old design harder to deal with. Don't get me wrong, we will continue sailing with Princess for all our cruises but there are changes for the older ships that would be nice improvements. The entertainment was good and there was always something going on. You could do as much or as little as you wanted. We did back to back with Eastern and Southern and really liked the ports we visited. We had been to most of them before but we enjoy them all and returning after the hurricane damage was interesting. We feel the islands need the tourist dollars to rebuild and thrive again. The Islanders we came in contact with were all grateful the ships were stopping again. At the end of the 16 days for these 2 cruises we disembarked and walked across the parking lot and boarded the Regal for 2 more weeks in the Caribbean. In 30 days we only repeated 1 port and that was St. Thomas. Even that wasn't an issue since we had a beautiful day for the 1st visit and it was really rainy and messy the second visit. We just stayed onboard the 2nd visit and made it a "sea day". Read Less

We chose this cruise due to itinerary, timing and price. We went with another couple and booked balcony cabins side by side. Ours was R703. Great location. It was the first time I have ever been that high on a ship and that far aft and we had no problems with extra noise or vibration or anything else. We were right by the elevators but experienced no noise from that. It was such a good location - just one flight of stairs up to Horizon Court and the main pool. Also, easy access to the aft door and right out to the aft pool which was my favorite part of the ship! We did traditional late seating dining. Excellent service and the food was great. Not one complaint. I have been lucky to have a great wait staff on every cruise I have been on. But Rea, the head water for us, was the best ever! She was amazing, so pleasant and efficient, yet took the time to have fun conversations with us about her homeland etc. We saw many shows, they were good, we took part in activities on the ship, which were all fun. I love Princess because we can connect our balconies together with our friends cabins, and the self serve laundry! Read Less

A very good cruise where just about everything went very well. The staff was friendly and very helpful and the entertainment was one of the best scheduled. The Crown is stating to show its age of about 12 years; however, it is still one of the best looking. The ports of call were most of the ones we had been to before and Amber Cove was the first visit for us. Phillipsburg and St. Thomas are very much showing the effects from hurricane Irma and will take several months to be completely restored. The visit to Phillipsburg was the first Princess ship to pull in after the hurricane. The number of shops open was about 50% and many people stayed on the ship vice walking about. We had an excursion on Amber Cove so we did not spend any time in the shopping port area. One bad thing concerning Amber Cove is a very long walk from the ship to the shopping area; however, there were opportunities to ride the pier. I wouild have liked to know what pier we pulled into when returning to Port Everglades before getting off the ship and if it was announced then we missed it. This was also a concerts at sea cruise and we were not impacted by any of the events associated with the cruisers attending the concerts. This was a last minute booking for us after finding out that MSC had booked over 60% of their ship to a group that would be forcing us to use second seating and closing of public areas for them. At the cruise critic meeting management said they would like to hear any complaints during the cruise, so I did write many notes to customer service but not one thing changed. Cruise companies spend billions of dollars of advertising but a small issue with an employee can leave a bad taste. I'm talking about the Chef at Horizon Court and the Internet Manager. It comes down to training and customer service. The bad: Not enough seating for the size of ship and yes passengers saving seats. This did happen every night and Cruise Director trying to solve this. You need to arrive at least half hour ahead of show. No top sheet? Couldn't really understand but after a few requests received one. This is yucky since the duvets are not cleaned weekly. Extras: $29 is too steep for specialty restaurant and only one entree allowed. Way cheaper on competitors. How about a promotion. Hot dog restaurant..extra..ice cream some extra.. Sanctuary way extra.. The good: Food and service for the most part was excellent. The bacon raw the whole week and the eggs left under the lights became hard. One night my filet was tough but for the most part way better than other lines. Entertainment: When you could find a seat most shows excellent. Trisha Kelly and the Love Boat party were fun. The Voice was also great. Fitness: Enjoyed the stretch class but on the last day I was the only person. Could be the 15 minute lecture to sell. Spa: Appeared to be great..took advantage of free promo. Cruise Director Cory: Hysterical, wonderful sense of humor. I think needed is some way for passengers to print out the boarding pass without paying .79 per minute. Since we had an early flight and government shut down this was a concern. The good is I finally learned how to use the app. Taxis in Aruba and Florida were a rip off. Read the paperwork and do not go to the left where it will cost more; go straight. We stayed pre cruise at the Pelican Resort in FLL and it was perfect. Did Uber everywhere and at least in Florida it worked out great..Saved the rental fee..gas..and $33 night parking. Princess please go back to French Polynesia. Our Pacific Princess was the best in our history cruising. I understand it is because of flights and the sale of the Ocean, but we need a lower price cruise in that region. Read Less

Last year we had to cancel three cruises due to medical issues. So this year we are hitting the ground running and what better way than a Princess Cruise. The price and timing were right. It was a cruise of relaxation and a chance to be catered too. The Crown Princess hit all the marks. The Entertainment and Activities were excellent. We enjoyed the both of the major productions (Magic and Encore). The singers and dancers were great. We had early dining and enjoyed all of our dinners. We were especially pleased that Princess offered us free cover charge for a meal at one of the specialty restaurants for our anniversary. We chose The Crown Grill and were not disappointed. Although we did not do any shore excursions this trip, we enjoyed a wonderful afternoon aboard the ship. We also took advantage of the future booking promotion and are looking forward to our next two Princess cruises we booked. With the impeccable service and friendly personnel we met, I am sure that we will enjoy the next two Princess cruises. Read Less

This review covers the 5-day and 8-day back-to-back voyages of the Crown Princess (January 7-20). We were able to book these dates for a last-minute booking (38 days out). Princess offered us a price we couldn't refuse, so off we go. This was our 13th & 14th cruise respectively with Princess (20+ overall) so we know our way around the cruise world. Embarkation was as smooth as possible. We waited until the mass early morn crowd dissipates, and walked in about 1:30pm. Being platinum level, we were whisked through the preferred line and were onboard the ship within ten minutes. We chose an obstructed oceanview stateroom, since we would be outside 90% of the time aboard. Our room steward was excellent.....very personable, and took great care of us. The Crown Princess is a magnificent ship, slightly over 3000 passengers, well laid-out with lots of open space on top (4 pools), good traffic flow through most of the ship. Almost all activities occur on the 7th deck, which gives you access to all the lounges, theatre, and some shops. Gym and spa are at the front of the ship, which gives you 180-degree view forward behind glass walls. The buffet (Horizon Court) is at the back of the ship on deck 15, and has inside/outside tables available for great views. DINING: We stick with the late traditional dining venue (Botticelli room, deck 6 table for 2). Our wait staff was excellent, very friendly, knowledgeable of the food selections, and made our dining experience memorable. The food in this room was FANTASTIC.....in our opinion, one of the top 2 of our Princess experiences over the years. Portions were the perfect size, we ate everything that was on our plates. Desserts were well-presented. ENTERTAINMENT: Theater stage shows were great. You must watch ENCORE. Some serious talent there. The ship band was spot-on. Great costuming/lighting. Theater has good access/egress. Catch the party band STATIC.....high energy, very interactive with the passengers when they perform. Voice of the ocean was entertaining, as was marriage match game. PORTS: Visited Roatan, Cozemel, Aruba, Curacao, and Bonaire. Beach days in Roatan and Aruba. Cozemel was a visit to Tuluum, which requires a ferry ride over to the mainland (Playa Del Carmen). Curacao was a walk-around visit, and we rode electric bicycles on a 25-mile tour of the island of Bonaire. We used off-ship venders (shoreexcursiongroup.com) for the land tours. Traveled about 5000 statute miles on this adventure. Point-of-information....you can now bring Cuban cigars back to the U.S. for personal consumption. We used city bus in Aruba (drastically cheaper than Taxi). OVERALL: There were no speedbumps on this cruise with Princess. We were treated like royalty. Crown is scheduled for dry-dock in a month or so, so the experience should get even better after that. This ship/schedule met our needs. Read Less

Totally a wonderful cruise!!!!!!!!! Some of our friends declined to go on this cruise because of some of the negative reviews. My husband got to the point of not wanting to hear the latest posts from people about the ship. We've been on several of the Princess ships, Azamara, Seabourn, NCL, Carnival, Celebrity, RCCL, Believe me, our experience on this cruise was over-the-top positive. In every way. We chose to have an obstructed view on Emerald Deck 8, yes, we read the reviews about that deck. It was fine. We were midship, loved the location, and with so much to do, we were not in our stateroom that much. The holiday decorations all over the ship were still up from Christmas, so it was a festive first impression. Embarkation in FLL a BREEZE. Best ever. Disembarkation FLL this morning a BREEZE. Again, best ever. The cruise -- 2 sea days to Curacao, Aruba, Bonaire, 2 sea days back. New Year's Eve dinner and party onboard superb. The lobster dinner (lobster 3 ways) was delicious! The house band was incredible! Balloon drop fun! Ok, everything from wonderful staff to delicious food was perfect. The ship itself -- I guess there are people that like to nit-pick, but it was lovely and grand. First time on it for us. We do have to say that ALL THE COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF GAMES WERE ON THE TV, MOVIES UNDER THE STARS, CASINO, STATEROOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was HUGE for us! We watched the Alabama-Clemson game under the stars, blowing wind, misty, but the staff walked around close to midnight with popcorn, then later with cookies. AWESOME! We departed this morning, but the NFL games were also on. We LOVED the cruise, LOVED the ship, LOVED our anytime dining waiters, tables 204,202,201 and 207 in the Michaelangelo Dining room. Our stateroom person Teguh was great. Got to run unpack. We'll be back! By the way, I rated everything 5-star because it was for us! Read Less

Past Princess cruiser. Liked the destinations and the price. My only complaint was the night they did liars club. I felt the magician who was one of the celebrities was rude, profane and obnoxious. Nothing was said about the show being PG 15 until after a lot of offensive comments. I have cruised 25 times with Princess and this was the first time I have seen people getting up and leaving the show, myself included. The shipboard staff were great, the other entertainment very good and the food was excellent. The ship is definitely in need of some cosmetic work, lots of areas need repairs. Donna my room stewart was excellent, probably one of the best I have had on a cruise regardless of the cruise line. The galley presentation and tour was excellent. I would definitely cruise on Princess again in the future. The benefits for elite passengers are the best in the industry. Read Less

Why 5 stars you ask? From embarkation to disembarkation everything went well. There was about a twenty five minute delay in disembarkation but not Princess' fault. Customs issue which is typical in our experiences. Staff: unlike our Caribbean Princess cruise two years ago, Crown's staff were all smiles and each and every staff member we encountered made eye contact and has some sort of greeting. Cabin Steward: Donnabella was cheerful and kept the cabin sparkling clean. Requested ice daily to be put in fridge, never missed a day. Turndown always done well. Dining room waiter and assistant: Pepe and Rommel were awesome. Never an empty water glass, consistently making sure all was good. Pepe made sure bar requests were quick by having Rommel pressure the bar. Late seating: If you want to see the show let the wait staff know and they will have you ready to go with plenty of time. If you're kind to people from the start, it is amazing what great service you will get. J/S. Food (imo) was quite nice. The Curtis Stone dishes were super as was other entrées we had. Soups and breads done very well. Crown Grill: For the $29. fee pp we thought it was well worth it. Filet Mignom was perfect. Sides okay but dessert off the chain. Very nicely done. Easily a $100. bill at a fine steak house here in FL. Horizon Court: Used a couple of times for breakfast. Everything one could possibly want, yes, even real fried eggs! Entertainment: Meh...but we don't cruise for this. Read Less

This was a 30th birthday cruise for me, and it delivered!! I've been on 16 Princess Cruises and 8 different Princess Ships, but never around the Holidays. The ship was BEAUTIFULLY decorated for Christmas... I was just enamored! Embarkation and disembarkation was the fastest I've ever experienced in the Caribbean. The only time I've had faster was on the Coral Princess going southbound for the last time of the season in Whittier. Vines Wine bar and Crooners are my favorite features on Princess ships... unlimited sushi when you purchase a glass of wine at Vines was how we kicked off every evening, and delicious table-side martinis with a live Crooner is how I finished every evening on this past 5 night trip. MUST TRY the Quantum of Solice if you like grapefruit/gin flavors! The cabins were great... here's a tip: The Premium balconies on Caribe deck 10 are huge (just as big as the mini-suite and way cheaper) and they are part covered and part sun. In my opinion, it's the only floor you get privacy on your balcony on this class of ship. If you do forward, deck 10, they are even sold as regular price balconies even though they are just as big as the rest on deck 10 that are sold as "Premium" balconies. Ports are good. You get what you expect. The Cruise terminal is very commercial and there is a lovely pool We got there at 11:30 and still had a ton of chair options around the pool but by 12:30 it was packed. Margaritaville in Grand Turk was exactly what I needed to escape the winter cold! Dining is the feature that keeps me coming back to Princess... The Crown Grill is gonna knock your socks off. Get the Prawns as part of your appetizer --- DELISH! And my favorite entree is, surprisingly, the Sea Bass. I'm vegan when I'm not vacationing, but then I'm happy to face plant into some delicious seafood! Sabatini's is good as well. I just get a bunch of appetizers, as I'm not crazy about any of their entrees. The calamari in Sabatini's is worth the cover charge by itself! Do it... get 2... you won't be sorry! I do not travel with children. My hubby and I are kidless for now, and I love Princess for being able to get away from kids! The front sanctuary and sanctuary pool are, well... our sanctuary! I would do it again, and I am doing it again! We already booked our next get-away on the same ship in February! Read Less

This cruise on the Crown Princess, as with any other cruise that we have taken on any Princess Cruise ship, was completely outstanding. From the moment we booked the cruise until the moment we left the bus at the airport to return home, you are treated like royalty. All of the staff are so courteous, polite, respectful, caring, responsive, totally attentive, honest and truly happy and it really comes through in their service and their dedication to client satisfaction, and everything that they do made our cruise so outstanding. All of the staff truly love their jobs and they make you feel so welcome, comfortable and like being of the 'Princess' family. The ship is so well-maintained, so clean and you feel so safe. Our steward kept our cabin immaculate. The food in the buffet and around the pools was outstanding and I cannot say enough about the fine dining. The food was out of this world and our waiter and junior waiter treated us like we were royalty and treated us so special, making our fine dining one of the highlights of our day, every day. The shows in the Princess Theater were another daily highlight for us and they were all absolutely amazing. We did not do any excursions this time, other than going to the beach in Grand Turk, but there was so much to do on the ship that we just took advantage of all of the aboard activities for once and we truly enjoyed being able to do many of the things that we missed before because we were trying to cram in so many excursions. Thank you Princess Cruises, for providing the ultimate in vacations! Read Less

We arrived at Port Everglades around 11:30, and were on board with minimal delay. The check-in agent told me that they started boarding shortly after 10am, unusually early. We brought 5 bottles of wine and went to the table to pay our corkage. I signed a guest check for a $45 corkage fee, it showed up later on my statement as a dining charge from the Da Vinci Dining Room. Numerous threads on Cruise Critic mentioned that they would somehow mark the bottles with stamps or stickers to show that corkage has been paid, but the gentleman helping us didn't have anything when asked, so he placed some luggage tags around the necks. Better than nothing, I guess. Each time we brought one of our bottles to a venue, we had to explain that we'd already paid corkage. It might help to carry your receipt with you. This was our first time in a mini-suite. The mattresses were fine, and did not sag as other's have experienced. Mini-suites are supposed to have a "luxury mattress topper", that may help prevent any sagging. I did not pull back the bedding to see if this was a new Princess Luxury mattress, but they are already in all of the Club Class minis. All mattresses will be upgraded when the Crown goes into dry dock in late March 2018. Our steward met us with two glasses of champagne, we had a few special requests, and tipped him for fulfilling them. The one request he never took care of was acquiring the upgraded bathroom amenities we were supposed to have according to the Princess website. In the past, we've been quite happy with all of our stewards, but this guy was not up to par. He forgot our bath towels on several occasions, would mix our mail up with other cabins, didn't leave us those slips of paper reminding us to change our clocks, etc....we didn't say anything. Why take time away from our vacation to get some poor guy in hot water? Speaking of hot water, our bath/shower didn't have any at first. We only had 1 temperature, "warm". No matter how much I turned the knob, the temp never changed. It took 2 visits to guest services and a mention to our steward before a plumber showed up. Guest services kept asking me if I wanted the water hotter or colder and looked at me funny when I said, "both". Zero comprehension, but the plumber who showed up took care of it before dinner. The staff at Vines were all great. Carmen and her crew really know how to take care of folks. We'd bring one of our bottles there before dinner and they'd serve us some lovely complimentary tapas. We had anytime dining, and usually dined late. If they didn't have a table for two, they would always find us one in another dining room. The food was fine except for one entree, a meat trio that was over seasoned and tough. For breakfast most days, we also opted for the dining room. It's much more civil than the buffet. The Crown Grill was great as always. I brought down a bottle of wine a few hours before our reservation and it was decanted and served to us in a professional manner. My wife enjoyed her filet, and I loved my lamb chops, both served with a delicious reduction sauce. On another night we tried the Salty Dog Pub and everything was good, but not great. We also ate at the Crab Shack for the first time. The food was excellent, and we couldn't finish everything. We walked away feeling fuller than after any other meal. Cruise Director Corey Moir and his staff were extremely talented, engaging and funny. They work very hard to keep passengers happy while on board. This was our second cruise with Corey, and I hope not our last. You see him everywhere. I asked him if they paid him by the mile! We did not see any of the production shows, but I did participate in Voice of the Ocean, (and won). It's a real treat to sing with such a great band. All of the musicians are very talented and run from venue to venue throughout the day to keep us entertained. The officers we came in contact with were all friendly, especially Ana, the director of food & beverage. She was delightful! Read Less

We choose Princess because of their excellent service and great itineraries!! We have sailed with Princess 8 times and on several different ships. We found the Crown to be wonderful! Had the International Cafe which is a great place to get a bite to eat plus so many other places to choose to eat to fit your schedules and your food needs. We had an aft suite for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it! It was large and had 2 comfortable recliners and a table for 4 with padded seats. We enjoyed eating breakfast there several times. St. Kitts was a fun port!! We did the Scenic Railroad trip and Catamaran Sail! Fun for all ages!! The Catamaran crew was entertaining and the food and drinks flowed!! Plus we got to see St. Kitts shoreline which was beautiful!! Then we were taken by bus to the railroad and it was 4 double decker cars which we sat upstairs in the open air car and again enjoyed the scenic views of St. Kitts. Food and drinks were also supplied!!! All in all a great excursion, I would highly recommend!! In Antigua, we did a small bus tour of the Island. Our guide was both entertaining and very, very knowledgeable!! We had been to Antigua before but found on this excursion that we learned a whole lot more about Antigua and it's heritage and people!! Again, I would highly recommend this tour. It was also not too long to get tiring. The port in Fort Lauderdale is easy to get into for embarkation and also disembarkation. We love to cruise out of it!! All in all a wonderful time!! Read Less

We stayed 2 nights before our cruise at the Ft Lauderdale/Hollywood Marriot hotel by the beach and had excellent service, staff and meals. We choose this cruise on the Crown as been on this ship 7 years ago and loved it. The best part on this trip was to have two relaxing days at sea then 4 amazing ports and bonus day at sea to relax afterwards. We traveled with our 16 year old daughter who loved the shows, shopping and swimming. St Kitts and Grand Turk had amazing snorkelling, like one big aquarium! The Crown is a terrific ship with under 3500 passengers, great layout and easy to navigate. It was showing some age around exterior of ship, including balcony areas but inside was well cared for. Dinning perfect, with enough selections. Would have been nice to have few more pizza choices though. Only one comment on minisuite cabin, the pullout sofa bed for third person not comfortable at all. They need to change this and come up with better sleeping accommodations for third or forth passengers for what we paid. I would recommend the regular balcony with pull down bunk if you want a better rest. We will definitely book again with Princess. Read Less

We chose this cruise because I have always wanted to see Aruba and Curacao. Everything about the cruise was a positive experience. The entertainment on this cruise was fabulous and the cast was very talented. The crew members were always smiling and did everything to make sure that we were well taken care of and enjoying our vacation. The ladies in the Piazza were so attentive and a pleasure to be around. The food in the MDR was delicious and the presentation was equally as nice. There was plenty to choose from and the service was very nice too. The Horizon Court had a wonderful variety of foods for those times when you didn't feel like dressing for the dining room. The fresh fruits was so appealing especially considering that it is December! All in all, it was a wonderful cruise in a beautiful ship, and the crew was a delight! We are looking forward to our next cruise which will once again, be on Princess. Read Less
