What a wonderful voyage, to Kirkenes and back. Excellent ship, scenery was fantastic and the ship was great, loads of brass, polished wood and staff were very attentive. Good trips ashore but very expensive - Norway has a higher cost of living than Britain. Food was great, especially the desserts. No entertainment but made lots of friends because of this. - will return as soon as possible ...
I had been meaning to travel with Hurtigruten for some time and wanted to visit Norway in winter, having been in summer several times. Being on the Nordnorge felt like being part of a small community. The staff were really friendly and the food excellent. I don't eat meat and was offered fish or vegetarian options. The staff seemed genuinely interested to hear if I liked the choice. The buffet at ...
We were very happy with all aspects of cruise with just a few exceptions.
Dining room. We were instructed to use a hand sanitizer as we entered the dining room which was good. However, the bread was sliced by customers and most times did not bother to use the towel just bare hands. The cheese tray which was beautiful with many cheeses and fruits was also unprotected with people cutting and ...
We just returned from a Hurtigruten cruise from Bergen Norway to Kirkenes, a six night, five day cruise. We wanted to see that coast and that midnight sun on June 21 for some time. Friends in Germany had told us, “Not much rain in Norway.” It was overcast and rainy the whole time. The fjords were beautiful. The rock formations were stunning even without the sun. We hadn’t booked any excursions, ...
My husband and I have recently returned from a Bergen / Kirkenese / Bergen cruise on the Nordnorge. Everything about this cruise was amazing.
The food was incredible with plenty of choice at the breakfast and lunch time buffets. As fish lovers we were in heaven (for both breakfast and lunch) but there was always a brilliant selection of other food including vegetarian and gluten free. The set ...
My wife and I took the 12 night round trip cruise from Bergen to Bergen via Kirkenes on MS Nordnorge, departing Bergen on 17 March 2013. Our accommodation in Suite 636 was spacious and comfortable, considering this is a small working ship and not a large, four star cruise liner. As experienced cruisers on RCCL our overall impression of the cruise was very good. Perhaps the only disappointment was ...
As Cruisers go this was our first trip, & having read reviews first we had a good idea of what to expect, & therefore unlike some reviewers who seemed to travel blind we had no really unexpected problems.
We are not lie on the beach & roast types or sit in a floating 5000 bed hotel & not know when or where you are, & Las Vegas style shows no thanks, there thats told you so now you know ...
Hurtigruten, literally translated as "the fast route" is a combination tourist cruise ship, local ferry boat, and a cargo ship that travels the coast of Norway. There are 32 ports. Passengers are discouraged from getting off at many where stops are only 5-10 minutes long. The point is to see the scenery. The voyage is scheduled so that the northbound trip at night passes places ...
5 of us (all from Switzerland) sailed on the Nordnorge from Bergen to Kirkenes in mid June 2002. We were delighted with the boarding process which was really easy. Our luggage was taken from us at the dock and we went straight to our cabins. We then sorted out dinner reservations and were able to secure a table for the group, without other people assigned to it, by opting for the second sitting ...
