Have just come off Sea Princess. Travelled from Brisbane to New Zealand for second time. Chose this cruise as we have been on Sea Princess before and enjoyed it both times. Were able to get into Fiordlands both times. The revamped ship is lovely. The rooms have been renovated to a lovely standed and the bed was something else. So soft you just sank into it. Yes, there was a smell of effluent at times but hey, with 3000 people using the toilet at least once a day what can you expect. It wasn’t there all the time. Only ate at Horizon Court for every meal and could not complain on anything. Plenty of variety. Very attentive staff. Only thing I could complain about was I found for me there were too many movies that targeted mainly males, also I think a printed movie guide for the TV in each room telling the times they start would be a good idea? All in all a great cruise and will be doing more cruises with them. Would LOVE to see a cruise from Brisbane to Tasmania, as would a lot of people I spoke to. Embarkation and Disimbarkation very very quick. Stayed in B617 Read Less

Visited places I had not been before . got see the updated Sea Princess was last on her 2 years ago great to see the improvements great new beds some one said its like sleeping on marshmallows or clouds, great new seating no more back ache or sinking to the floor, most of the crew were great especially the dining room staff and my cabin steward, my cabin was good updated bathroom, but TV still to small, only saw the captain once that was at the party, Princess again very well organised getting on and off the ship and shore trips . The bands and musicians were good and the guest entertainers the ships dancers and singers average, entertainment crew just a couple stood out the usual quiz, bingo etc . Food was good in dining rooms and the buffet but tea still not made with boiling water , would I go again with Princess yes Read Less

The cruise was from Fremantle in Western Australia around the north of Australia ending in Brisbane. We had booked a cabin with a balcony and thats what we got - just. The balcony was tiny and the ensuite even smaller. Princess certainly can organize the embarkation / disembarkation both of which were beautifully managed and ran very smoothly. The food onboard was average, selection was limited, unchanged from years ago and sadly was never hot by the time it arrived at the tables in the dining room. The entertainment in the theatre was very formulaic - one singer enters from left, then one from right, three dancers from left then three from right etc etc. Performers round the other venues on board were genuinely talented and impressive.. Main gripes were - 1) the sheer volume and amount of on board selling. The incredibly loud spruiking over a loudspeaker to entice people to buy cheap and tatty clothing bags etc makes you think you were holidaying in a bazaar rather than a resort. Very intrusive noise and constant barrage of flyers to the cabins try and sell jewellry, spa treatment etc 2) Constant maintenance round the ship lying on a sunlounger reading while crew members used spirit based paint with 2 feet of you isn't conducive to good humour or good health. 3)Insufficient desk seating under cover. The sun is too hot for most people to be out all the time and the only covered seating is on deck 12 under the walkways above from deck 14. need some shade cloth covered areas on sunny days. Conspiracy theorists claim this is a deliberate ploy to drive you inside where the sales people can hound you! By no means a pleasant cruise experience Read Less

We booked this cruise so that we could see various parts of Australia. Have to say that we felt that we were royalty. I say this because, I think that The Queen of England can smell fresh paint wherever she visits. Why could the painting on the open decks not be fully done when in the dry dock in Singapore? We had Anytime Dining in the Traviata. On the first night, the waiter knocked over the wine menu which then knocked over two full water glasses and myself and the gent sat next to me had damp trousers for the duration of the meal. On several occasions the waiters served up the wrong meal for myself and others. I feel that they need more training. The food in the Traviata was not to my satisfaction. Vegetables were not cooked enough. Al Dente is fine, but they were not cooked to that level and not hot. Steak/meat/beef was rather chewy.(low quality products) In the end we settled for the Horizon (as did others) because there was a wider choice and the food was hot. Bar staff were great. Excursions were good. We used the guaranteed price promise to get the Great Barrier Reef tour from Port Douglas at a reduced price (AUS$96 each refund) We both had the PBP (drinks) package. On several occasions I had to query drinks on our bills that should not be there as they were covered by the package. Need to consider if I want to cruise with Princess again. Read Less

We flew to Singapore to join the Sea Princess but she still had plenty of work not done including carpets not laid and the kids club was not able to be used for the whole 12 day voyage. Bringing three grandchildren with us it was a bit disappointing but they still had a great time, thanks to the lovely staff who looked after them in various places around the ship. There were some very poor choices in carpet especially the new grey and white carpet in the buffet which looked dirty after a few days! What were they thinking! The cruise went from Singapore to Phuket,Langkawi,Penang,KL, Bali and finally Fremantle. As on all Australian based Princess ships the staff were great especially the waiters and cabin staff. Upper management seemed to be clueless at times and would not give the people under them any powers to make decisions. Our minibar setup had stale dated soft drinks in it and it was a real struggle to get this issue sorted out. No one seemed to have any authority to fix the problem. We had been to all the ports before but our son and grandchildren had not so for them it was frustrating when the ship was late docking at almost all the ports.WHY? Anyway we had a great time thanks to a very nice cruise director Neil and the many regular staff who were kind and friendly. Oh by the way the new beds were really great! Meals were pretty good although we had some tough steak a couple of times. I think the Princess crown is slipping a bit especially in the Australian ships in terms of quality of food. Read Less

The staff make the cruise. I don’t know how they keep smiling, and remembering all the peoples names. They have the patience beyond measure. Some people can be demanding. I know I couldn’t cope like they do. Unfortunately Sea Princess didn’t upgrade their tv. Seeing the same movies over and over again is painful. Especially if you are not feeling well. Normally I never stay in the cabin but I had two days when I did. Overall upgrades were good, entertainment was excellent in bars areas. Princess theatre, were the princess singers and dancers performed was below standard. Very poorly done and the music was too loud. You need professionals if you want to be in touch with other liners such as Holland America or MCV liners. Cabins were excellent and cleanliness was outstanding. A shame that newbies on the ship didn’t understand simply instructions don’t put anything besides toilet paper down the toilets. Would of saved a lot of headaches for all concerned. Read Less

We embarked in Singapore on 6 November for Treasures of South East Asia. We took advantage of the new Club Class Cabin and benefits. Sea Princess has just had a refurbishment, including new princess beds. We had some reservations about cruising as this was our first. We were aware that Sea Princess is an older ship but apart from some dated décor we could not tell. This ship was spotlessly clean from top to bottom from time of embarkation until the end of the cruise. The food and drink areas of the ship and the toilets were amazingly clean and well ordered. We mostly took advantage of the Club Class anytime dining in the Traviata Dining Room. At breakfast, lunch (sea days) and dinner we were treated to very well prepared and presented food. The silver service was amazing. One night we joined friends in the regular (non Club Class dining) and were equally impressed. The dining room staff were a real stand out for us and they provided a standard of luxury unsurpassed in our lifetime. We also ate a couple of lunches in the Horizon Court and found the food to be fresh and well prepared, with plenty of variety. The staff here were also very attentive. The buffet was clean and kept fresh and tidy. WE were in Cabin B410 (Club Class Mini Suite) which was spacious, well appointed and spotlessly clean (twice a day service). Our Cabin attendants were diligent, polite and friendly. We enjoyed shore excursions which were well organised, value for money and interesting. (James Bond Island and Penang Spice Gardens and Butterfly Farm). The guides spoke very good English and were very knowledgeable. The bus was clean and comfortable. There were plenty of entertainment options. Standouts for us were the covers band in the Wheelhouse Bar most nights, Voice of the Ocean and the Mentalist. We also enjoyed nightly Crooners Bar before dinner. In all this cruise exceeded our expectations. Read Less

Good itinerary. ...port intensive but we chose the cruise for this reason & to get to Perth from Singapore without flying. Embarkation at Singapore was pretty bad...too busy &very very hot, in fact it was like standing in a greenhuse. This was our first Princess cruise, we have used lots of other lines before, but never Princess. We thought the ship looked great after her dry dock...we were the first sailng with the new carpets in publc areas( although not new in our cabin!!), lots of upholstery in bars, restaurants & excellent new beds. The only issue we had( apart from blocked public area toilets!!) was the "rip off guy" who came on the ship at Port Klang to change currency. As he was invited on the ship, & seated at a table in the Atrium, we presumed he was checked out by Princess, so we had no qualms about using his services. Then we rechecked our foreign currency exchanged there & realised we had been seriously "RIPPED OFF!!!"' By nearly 50%. Despicable!! The ship were awful in their handling of our complaint, the girl at the desk told us it was not their problem as he was not a ship employee. We put our complaint in writing, expecting at last recognition of our issue & a reply from a manager. We had NO reply at all to our written complaint. This is NOT good enough Princess...you endorse this person by allowing him on board your ship & by allocating him a table &'seating him in your Atrium. At least the courtesy of a reply from a Customer Service Manager should have been given to our letter of complaint, not just ignored. This left a nasty taste about Princess cruises response to our issue. We were however very pleased with the quality of food served, every meal was really good, the only poorish one was the lobster on the final formal evening...the one I was looking forward to most! It was tough, watery & tasteless...but the prawns were superb! Pizzas in Cafe Corniche were just fab too. Best we've had at sea..or even on shore! Entertainment left a little to be desired (espcially compared to ncl ) although a couple of the comedians were good. We thought the port talks were boring & not necessarily accurate...the guy doing them needed better sldes & even said Rottsnest many times instead of Rottnest & referred to the quokkas there as wallabies! Wrong on both! Balcony cabin was spacious enough, lots of storage, plenty of hangers, all kept clean & tidy by Gina...we didnt miss the towel animals, preferring the pillow chocs! We will look at Princess cruises again if the itinerary suits us...but will never, never change currency on board! Read Less

I chose this cruise as it ended in Fremantle. I also liked the idea of sailing from Singapore. Loved the itinerary, met some fabulous people and had a great time. Our cabin steward - Arthur was just the best. And our waiters at Rigoletto Dining room - Table 66 - 5.30pm seating, Augustin and Taras were very, very good and entertaining as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our 12 nights and would do it all again. The food is just too good though and I gained weight :( I should have not ordered desserts everyday. Ooh well !! These things happen and I cannot blame the ship for gaining a couple of kilos !!! Our cabin was a spacious interior cabin on Dolphin Deck 8, towards the rear of the ship (Aft). There could have been more craft activities, shows were amazing, we didn't book any shore excursions. I would have liked to have been able to learn another language, someone stated that they had language lessons on their cruise. Read Less
