After having had a bad experience on the Carnival Splendor we were hesitant to try Carnival again, but it was the only cruise company going to St. Lucia at the time we wanted to be there. We decided to give them another chance so along with our best friends we booked on the Carnival Valor. I have to say I am glad we did. This time we were very happy with Carnival. Our room was very nice and ...

Embarkation: We walked to the Port (Muelle #4)from our hotel - Villa Herencia on Caleta de las Monjas street in OSJ. It took us 20 minutes to walk there while pulling 2 pieces of luggage each. :) We arrived at the Port at 11:10AM - There were around 5 people in line - We paid the Porter - Red Shirts & ID's - to take our luggage and because the lines were so short we decided to try to check-in. ...

This was our 4th cruise, first without kids and we traveled with 3 other couples. Flew Westjet direct from Toronto to San Juan on Saturday. Stayed at the Double Tree hotel which is located about halfway between the airport and the cruise terminal. Good location with grocery store across the street, walking distance to the beach and restaurants nearby.Embarkation went well with no line ups and no ...

First-Time Carnival Cruiser to the Beautiful Southern Caribbean

The Southern Caribbean has always been high on my cruising wish list. When my boyfriend announced, after finally getting his passport, that he wanted to (a) leave the country for the first time and (b) take a relaxing vacation, I jumped at the chance to plan a cruise for the both of us. I am not a fan of repeating ports, so armed with my favorite travel research sites, I selected a few voyages ...

Booked on the Valor with much hesitation as we're usually RCL cruisers, but the price and southern Caribbean itinerary was just too good to pass up. We arrived in San Juan the day prior and stayed at the Marriott Courtyard Miramar. Good hotel for a short night. Our flight arrived late so we slept in and got a late check out courtesy of my MR Platinum status. The hotel recommended lunch at Los ...

(This will be a long review, sorry) We went on this cruise with another couple, booked through a travel agent in his home town. We originally booked the lowest level balcony, but Carnival offered an upgrade sale that we took advantage of to get closer to their suite on Deck 9. It's nice up there by the bridge. We stayed 3 nights in San Juan prior to the cruise, and really enjoyed our time ...

We all arrived on Friday April 12th in San Juan. It was great to start our vacation enjoying old San Juan first. Sheraton Old San Juan was great and close to port. Enjoy the free white open air shuttle around town. Arriving on our ship Sunday afternoon we found our stateroom clean as always and always love a balcony room. This is where we had our first blip though, our cabin steward , John ,on ...

Lots of our friends thought we were crazy booking this cruise after all the problems Carnival was having with its ships but we didn't let that sway our decision and I'm glad we went. We thought the atmosphere was great and unlike some of the reviews we did not find the ship decor tacky at all. There were just as many if not more of an older crowd than younger as suggested on the reviews, I did ...

Having been on many cruises, we were ready to experience yet another great trip. My son and I met other relatives--plus a larger group of people we had contacted prior to the cruise. We never lacked for anything to do--both on and off the ship. I usually enjoy more sea days--however there were definitely some positive points in having new ports to visit. Our favorite shore excursion was not ...

Worst experience ever on the Valor; will never sail on Carnival again

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Carnival Valor

I almost don't know where to start. But before I do, I'll say that I've never written a negative review for a cruise, a hotel, a restaurant, or any establishment that provides service. We sailed as a couple and though we've only been on one other cruise, we regularly take vacations in Europe and the US including Hawaii and the Caribbean. We like outdoor activities like snorkeling, hiking, and ...
