San Juan is a beautiful departure port. You feel like you are in Europe in Old San Juan. The old forts are interesting to visit. It costs only $5 to visit both forts and they are in walking distance from each other. However, hotels and restaurants are expensive. Plaza Las Americas is one of the largest malls I have ever seen - Macy's, J.C. Penney, Sears, and thousands of other stores. Prices are ...
I wanted to go on this cruise because of the destinations. The ship is small. We usually have to search for a pool chair but there were plenty on the upper deck but there wasn't the usual amount of kids on this cruise so that could be why there were chairs available. The food was great. We ate dinner in the dining room everynight and enjoyed the service and the food. Our interior cabin was small ...
This cruise followed a trip to Mardi Gras on the Celebrity Equinox. Family members chose this itinerary, and therefore the ship.
Embarkation was quick and uneventful.
My Time Dining, found us at a different table every time. Service was not well coordinated at any of the tables. Wine service was sometimes available, but never for a second glass. We wanted “sharing” tables, and were only ...
We choose this cruise for the itinerary. We had a great time and enjoyed all the islands, and met some really great people on board the ship. My favorite island was Dominica, I look forward to returning there one day. The Jewel of the Seas is in excellent condition for it's age. Being a smaller ship we never waited to get on or off the ship. Our last cruise was on the Allure and you would meet ...
Did a back-2-back on the Jewel out of San Juan to several of the Caribbean islands. Royal Caribbean is always my first choice as they always deliver. The only negative about the cruise itinerary or the ship was that on the ship many activities take place in the Centrum. The area is entirely too small for many of the activities which presents a 'much too crowded' atmosphere making it difficult to ...
We love sailing out of San Juan, safe/friendly, and Excellent embarkation/disembarkation ~ very streamlined on both ends of cruise. Kudos for that! Motown and John Joseph comedian were superb! RCL dancers and singers were up to normal stds, but mostly on one show ~ Broadway. Got "robbed" of show 1st nite, and when Newlywed game pre-empted ANY entertainment. Last nite's show was mostly sales ...
Superb cruise, yummy food, tasty drinks and friendly staff.
Every port we visited the boat docked at 8am and departed 5pm but it would have been good to stay some places a little longer (especially St Maartin & Grenada).
Tried chops steak house but we were very disappointed with service - especially as the service in tides was amazing (thanks Vincent & Yuri).
Balcony room was good ...
In the past, we have cruised on Celebrity Cruise Lines so this is our reference point for this cruise. We chose Jewel of the Seas because it had recently been refurbished (Summer 2016) and had the itinerary that we were looking for. We felt it would be a comparable choice given that is owned by Celebrity Cruise Lines. Unfortunately, this was not the case.
The level and quality of service ...
I chose the Royal Caribbean because I wanted to try a different cruise line. I have always cruised with Carnival. The Jewel of the Seas was refurbished in 2017 and the ship was very nice. Everyone on the ship was 60 plus and the food at the buffet was terrible. The restaurants closed at 6:00 pm and they only had one main dining room. If you wanted to eat at the other restaurants they were ...
Chose this cruise because our cousin (a travel agent) was booking a group from Kansas City, KS to sail together - we joined the group. And also because I had only been to one of the Ports of Call. I traveled with my brother and sister-in-law. (Hubby planned to go, even made it to the departure gate before getting sick and having to return home). I'm sure the whole experience would have been ...
