We boarded this cruise in Ft. Lauderdale. Embarkation and debarkation were very smooth and efficient, as we used the Princess medallions, which we received prior to leaving home. We had an inside cabin B741 on Baja deck (11), near the rear of the ship. It was comfortable and quiet, with very little outside noise. Everything worked, and our cabin steward was efficient in cleaning and servicing our cabin. The bed was very comfortable, and my wife both slept very well throughout the cruise. The weather was almost perfect, with only a couple of rainy periods and high temperatures in the 80's during the day. The ports of call were interesting and welcoming. We visited Charleston, SC; New York City; Newport, RI, Boston; Bar Harbor, ME; Saint John, NB, Halifax, NS, Sydney, NS, and Quebec. All of these ports had lots to see and do with the exception of Sydney, NS, which nevertheless was a pleasant walk around town. Charleston has a number of well preserved homes, and we simply walked around, enjoying the relatively cool weather in the morning in Charleston. In NYC, we docked in Brooklyn (Red Hook). This was less convenient than docking in Manhattan, but there is a ferry stop at the cruise terminal which terminated at Wall Street in Manhattan. It was crowded due to the number of cruisers, but we got to Wall Street after about an hour of waiting to buy tickets and then boarding. We visited the 9/11 Memorial, which is very well done. After lunch, we walked across the Brooklyn Bridge, and had a long wait (90 minutes) in the rain for a ferry back to Red Hook. Newport was a pleasant surprise. We walked the most accessible half of the Cliff Walk, and enjoyed seeing the estates there. The public transport was pretty good. We rode a hop-on, hop-off bus to enjoy the attractions in Boston. There is a stop relatively near the cruise terminal that is served by Old Town Trolleys. There is a cheaper hop-on hop-off service which we did not use since it does not serve the cruise terminal and would require a walk of almost two miles each way to access. Bar Harbor is the gateway to Acadia National Park, and we took a guided bus tour of the park (Oli's Trolleys) that including most of it's high points. It was well done, and a convenient way to see the park. Bar Harbor also has many restaurants and drinking establishments serving the tourist trade. We took a hop-on, hop-off at Saint John's NB. Highlights here were the Reversing Rapids, in which the river flow changed direction when the tides in the Bay of Fundy ebb and flow. We also enjoyed a flight of beers at the Moosehead small batch brewery, which was a treat since I last time I had Moosehead beer was in college in the 1970's. There is a lot to do in Halifax, NS. We visited the Museum of the Atlantic, which has a very good exhibit on the Titanic, and the Citadel. There was not much to do in Sydney, NS, but we had a nice walk about town, coffee and Timbits at Tim Horton's, and a beer at the Governor's pub. One of the best things Princess did at Quebec was to overnight there, which allowed more time for our visit. We stayed an extra night at the Hotel Chateau Bellevue. As a result, we had a good opportunity to see the sights in the old city, and take a day trip to the Isle d'Orleans, the St. Anne basilica, and Montmorency Falls. We had a great time in Quebec, with great places to eat and drink. The people of Quebec were friendly and welcoming. Taxis to the airport are a flat rate of C$35, which was cheaper than Uber. We were surprised that there were relatively few flights out of the Quebec airport and they are relatively expensive. A number of our fellow cruise passengers opted to either take a shuttle or the train to fly out of Montreal, which has much better flight availability. In summary, this was a pleasant, relaxing cruise. Service was excellent, and the ship was well maintained. Although Princess sometimes can be disorganized, such as the tendering to Newport, RI, it still has a good combination of quality and comfort. The biggest complaint I have with this cruise is the relative lack of enrichment activities. Entertainment was excellent, with very good production values, but a lot of people were turned away because the theater could not accommodate everyone. The food was uniformly good, but for the most part not exceptional. We did have an exceptionally good meal in the Crown Grill, which was worth the $29/pp upcharge. Our cruise was good value for the money. Read Less

Choose this cruise because it was close to a two week cruise. Loved the ports of call, and had not been to a few. Great ending in Quebec where we choose to stay a few days and then take a train to Montreal! Had never been to theses places in Canada. My favorite stop was Bar Harbor Maine, the Natonal park tour was very interesting! The medallion on the cruise ship was a fun experience which we had tried on other princess cruises. Throughout the ship there were places you could use your medallion to find out what the venue for the day was, and where the activities were being held. Our room was a premium balcony in the aft corner of the ship! Fantastic balcony and room! The whole cruise on the Caribbean Princess was exceptional! Our captain was very engaging and good at announcements and keeping us updated! Love princess cruises, this was our 30th cruise just with princess. Read Less

This was an amazing cruise with 9 ports ... there was so much to see and do in every single port! We thoroughly enjoyed the smaller group excursions. The LuLu Lobster boat, in Bar Harbour, was one of our favourite excursions. We wouldn’t recommend the whale watching as there were about 250 passengers on the boat; very crowded and the chances of seeing a whale is minimal (we didn’t see any because the fog rolled in). We did see numerous animals and birds randomly throughout the cruise. We were somewhat disappointed with the organization of disembarkation for a few of the shore excursions. Entertainment on the ship was exceptional! At a couple of the ports they had local groups come onboard to perform - ex. French Canadian group in Quebec and children’s Celtic dance group. We had issues with some wait times for the anytime dining however Moises in the Palm Dining room took good care of us once he realized there was an issue. Food choices and quality were great! Our room steward, Richard, was the absolute best! Our cabin was exceptionally clean and the Richard took very good care of us! All in all a fabulous cruise and experience! Read Less

I enjoy the Club Class amenities. The Mini-Suites are centrally located on the ship. The Club Class Dining is exceptional. Quieter area. Nice linens. Excellent attention from wait staff. Extra menu items are always a nice added choice. The Caribbean Princess is a lovely ship, but once you sail on the newer class; Royal, Regal, and soon the Sky, the older ships aren't quite a elegant. However, the ship is well kept and laid out nicely for getting to/from activities. Never a crowded pathway when the Theater is letting out, or too many people crowding the buffet line. Princess does the Game Show activities for adults, but also kid appropriate. It offers a little something different if you don't want to watch the Theater shows. This itinerary going to Belize and Roatan was nice, as we had not been there. A repeat stop to the Grand Caymen is always pleasant with plenty of choices every time. The extended port time in Cozumel was perfect, gave us an opportunity to go to Cancun/Tulum on an extended shore excursion. Otherwise - Cozumel gets boring. I find the wait staff/service providers on Princess to be top notch. Pleasant, not rushed, informative. This was a full Medallion Class sailing. The Medallion itself is terrific. Small, easy to carry with a variety of options you can either pre-purchase or purchase on ship. The staff only asked your cabin number when ordering drinks, then they always acknowledged you by name when they brought your drink. This was because they confirmed your photo to make sure no one else was using your account. There were times when they had to read your name/cabin number on the medallion when they did not have a handheld tablet device. The 'Apps' did not work all the time. We had to log in frequently as for some unknown reason. The Ocean Now to order drinks/food didn't apply in the Theater, otherwise there was always sufficient wait staff to take orders. I didn't find a need to order anything to my room using the app. I would have used the Ocean Compass to locate Shipmates, and chat with them, but the app took too long and then if they weren't logged in, it obviously didn't work, but you wouldn't know why. The Medallion Internet was slow if you didn't purchase the unlimited - different band widths? The original Ocean Concierge app worked better in my opinion than the Ocean Compass for itinerary information, daily Princess Patter activities, Folio information and breakfast ordering. Doing the Ocean Ready app to pre-load your guest information did speed up the check in process at the port. There was no waiting. Overall - I really enjoyed this itinerary, ship and Princess. The cabin steward was always there with a smile making sure that all was perfect. The entertainment was top notch. The show Bravo was excellent, real Broadway quality. That was the only cruise in the world that had a drag show. Very entertaining. The food was very good. The buffet had the largest item selection I've ever seen. The 4 deck area in the back of the ship was the best place to lay down and relax and just see the ocean go by behind us. The bar/nightclub Skywalker was awesome with a 360 degree view. It was an awesome vacation. Without a doubt, I am sold on Princess and will be looking forward to my cruise with them. Thanks Princess! Read Less

We love Princess and it services. The Buffet is outstanding...service can not be matched by and other cruise line. Carribean Princess and it staff are wonderful. Our Cabin (P327) was maintained the way we would expect. If we did not see something we would ask for it and sure nough it would be there by the next day. Our dining on board (anytime dining) was superb.,......the waiters advised what foods would be good and which we would enjoy the most. When we ask for something in the dining our waiter would get it and always make sure it was the way we liked it. If something was not right the staff would make every effort to correct it and provide perfection. We enjoyed the "Production" shows very much. However we do not enjoy comedians and jugglers......perhaps when we younger we may have enjoyed them more. Comedians do not use their microphones properly so the entire ordience can hear them. Only the first five (5) rows of people in attendance laughed at their jokes. Obviously everyone in the sixth row and further could not hear them. Read Less

It was a last minute vacation for my husband and I and our 5 kids (13,14,17,19 &20 yrs) The staff was great, friendly, helpful and fun! Loved the medallion and it’s apps! Very innovative and helpful if you aren’t regular cruisers. The only thing I wished is that I’d be able to track the kids under 18 in the other 2 state rooms since we had 3 rooms. But because of their age the app wouldn’t allow me to track them but we all have iPhones so we just texted. WiFi plan purchased workers really well, especially being in the middle of the ocean. Food was tasty and lots of options for the picky or for adventurous taste buds. Didn’t eat 1 thing I didn’t like. Plenty of areas to sit and relax, didn’t feel over crowded in any areas (obviously many people at pools on hot days, but there are multiple pools so it didn’t seem to bother anyone and didn’t seem over crowded). There’s about 4-5 smoking areas. Rooms were stayed on top of, very clean, service was great. The staff remembered your orders or likes almost immediately. Made for a very personal feeling. Entertainment was funny and there was always something going on somewhere. Princess cruises has it down pat all the way around. Looking into sailing with them again next summer. Embarking and disembarking was soooo quick and easy too! Read Less

This was a great cruise in so many ways. We traveled with good friends and all of us had a wonderful time. Service was excellent, staff was friendly, food was good, ship was well maintained, beds were greatly improved since our last sailing on the Caribbean Princess, and itinerary was perfect. Club Class dining was well worth the extra expense - we had the best service and every meal was great. Adult only pool was very nice on sea days, entertainment was good and there was a nice variety of activities. Staff in boutique stores were phenomenal (Effy, Swarovski) - even got to try on a 45 carat tanzanite necklace - amazing!!! Complimentary wine/champagne events were also a nice addition. The only constructive feedback I have is around the art auction. We've attended art auctions on numerous cruises and have collected several pieces along the way. We intended to purchase art on this cruise, too, but auctions weren't as fun or accommodating as we've experienced in the past or on other cruises. Champagne was extremely limited and all glasses were filled 3/4 of the way with orange juice. I don't drink orange juice, so I didn't get to have any champagne. I mentioned this to one of the staff, and she promised to send a bottle of champagne to our room, but this never happened. During the auction, I tagged four pieces of art to bid on but they never brought them up for action after almost 2 1/2 hours of sitting there. I mentioned this too as we were leaving and they just apologized - there wasn't any personal follow up to help us make a purchase. We also stopped by the art gallery at least 10 times to discuss the art we were interested in but no one was there. So, while some of the art events they hosted were okay/nice (Peter Max showing in art gallery), the overall experience was left to be desired and worse, we left the cruise without acquiring any new pieces. While the art auction experience wasn't the best, we will definitely cruise on Princess again and overall, we had a fabulous time well worth what we paid. We will definitely opt for Club Class on all future cruises and are already planning our next one for the Fall 2019 or Spring 2020 in the Caribbean and another one overseas in the Summer or Fall 2020. We're experienced Cruisers (Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Norwegian, etc.) and we've done the "Caribbean" thing many times, so I wasn't expecting much more 'Pleasure' from this cruise other than "watching my Wife enjoy the Cruise" (She can make "waking up every morning" into an event ;) I was wrong, WE - HAD - A - BLAST!!!! We like to "Get off the Tourist Track" whenever Possible... When we travel, We take the Train System while in Europe, Visit Friends in Europe and in the Caribbean, etc. We didn't see any Princess Excursions that looked "Like Us", So we did our Shore Excursions online, not through Princess... We booked a Scuba Diving Trip on St. Thomas from my favorite little Dive Shop there (Been hitting it for 20 years or so?), and it was AWESOME! The Reefs are making a comeback pretty quickly! Christine and Chris did an EXCELLENT job of herding the divers through the tour.. Being experienced Divers, We had a little over 2K PSI of air left in our tanks when the other members of the Excursion (Beginners without Dive Licenses) were pushing their tanks down around 800-500 PSI, so Christine just told us, "You know your way around, Come back to the beach when you're ready" In St. Maarten we had pre-booked the "ATV Island Tour" through "Blue Bubbles Dive Shop"... AWESOME Folks to deal with!!! Dwight and Joshua are FANTASTIC Tour Guides!!! Up Front, you really need to have "Some" experience with an ATV to take this tour, or at least have "An Adventurous Spirit".. They run UPHILL, Up STEEP, Rocky, Dirt Trails, and then suddenly you're running "Wide Open, Throttle To The Stops" FAST, out on the main paved roads, on BOTH sides of the Island! We had several people that obviously didn't know what they were getting into with this tour, and had never ridden an ATV. They immediately began lagging WAY behind... Dwight asked them if they'd be more comfortable going back to the ATV Shop, and those folks took the Van ride back to the shop. After that, the rest of the group was WIDE OPEN again. Joshua played "Tail End Charlie" on the group, then he sped ahead and blocked roundabouts and intersections so the group wouldn't get separated by other traffic, then he'd pull in behind the group again... Lots of great stops for Pictures and "Rest Breaks", Including watching the Jets Land and Take-Off at Maho Beach and from the Sunset Bar. Hit "Confidence Nude Beach" on the French Side after Dwight CAREFULLY got the OK from the ENTIRE group... Just "Lots of Cool Stuff"! Blue Bubble Dive Shop is HIGHLY recommended for their ATV Island Tour, and for Dive Excursions! About the Ship... Our Children are "grown and gone and Producing Grandchildren", so we didn't have them with us. We booked a "Near Aft, Port-Side, Balcony Stateroom" (Back near the last Aft Elevators near the Adult's Pool and Bar). The Room was CLEAN and Pretty Quiet. We spent most of our "Room Time" out on the Balcony. We LOVED the "Movies Under The Stars" HUGE TV Theater out by the pools, Restaurants ("Sabatini's": AWESOME with STARS! 'Nuff Said ;). Pools, etc. Children on the Ship musta been having fun SOMEWHERE, because we didn't see or hear very many, except while trying to Snorkel on Princess Cay... Princess Cay is Highly Sculpted, like a Theme Park, and just wasn't to our tastes. I could go ON AND ON AND ON... Suffice it to say, I'm an Electrical Engineer and Retired U.S. Army.. My Wife is a Doctor Of Regenerative Medicine.. We own a secluded Mountain-Top Ranch.. We can (and DO) go "Anywhere we want to go". We "ALMOST" just stayed on the Ship to do a Western Caribbean Cruise! We had *THAT MUCH* FUN! The Staff was AWESOME (Without "staying up in our faces all the time"), the Ship was GREAT, The Medallion Services functioned Flawlessly, Internet was ACTUALLY Broadband, etc etc... We've decided that this was our Favorite Cruise EVER, and *THAT* is saying something! Few last things: Princess treats Military Veterans *RIGHT*! That was unexpected and GREATLY appreciated! We signed up for Early Debarkation (We carry our own Baggage), We had "Mobile Passport" on our Phones for Customs, etc,.. We left the Stateroom PROMPTLY at 7;30AM, and we were SITTING IN A TAXI by 7:52AM!!! That was an UNUSUAL Experience for us, so don't book Air-Flights around that information, but it happened! FANTASTIC, MUCH NEEDED, Vacation! Read Less

My husband and I decided to do a Caribbean cruise for our anniversary, and my son’s high school graduation. I was a little weary about sailing on a Princess Cruise because it seems to cater to an older crowd, and we had an 18 yr old, 16, and 11 yr old with us. Half the passengers were senior citizens, and the rest were families. All of my kids made friends on board and had a great time. The food was great, the weather was perfect, the islands were beautiful, the crew went out of there way to cater to everyone. There were plenty of lounge chairs, and rarely any lines. The newlywed game and Voice of the Ocean was great. The medallion system and WiFi was exceptional. Movies on deck were great. My kids can’t wait to do another cruise. I like that the atmosphere is low key, and laid back. A slide or two for the kids would be nice, but I would definitely Cruise Princess again. Princess Cays, St. Maarten (Maho beach) St. Thomas (excursion to Trunk Bay St. John’s USVI) Perfect. Getting on and off the ship was well organized too. Read Less

Carlos treated the 2 girls (9 and 6) as princesses. He would bring a chopped fruit cup immediately for the baby. Loved the trip so much I am going again next year and will request both Frederick and Carlos again. Carlos has been on this ship for 14 years. He danced the Macarena with the girls one night. Loved the beaches at all 3 stops in Eastern caribbean. Perfect weather and seas as flat as glass. Port locations in the perfect location from where the ship docked. Medallion class worked perfectly. Chocolate Journeys desserts were AMAZING! I enjoyed my balcony stateroom on the Aloha deck foreword starboard. The food was great throughout the ship with only a few dishes not to my liking. I was able to relax on this cruise with a nice balance of sea days and port stops. The guests were great to meet and get to know and there was a mix of ages and group sizes and celebratory occasions. I enjoy Princess Afternoon Tea, English Pub Lunch, the pizza bar, and the movies in the stateroom and at the pool. The gym was great and I should’ve used it more. Great mix of entertainment. We were kept informed throughout the cruise as to choices, where we were, etc. Plenty of seating by a variety of pools. We do like the extra number of pools. Only complaint was jumping and diving rules not enforced at the Neptune pool. The adults facilitating the games kept other adults from enjoying the pool. Loved the itinerary on this cruise - Grand Cayman, Roatan, Belize, Cozumel. The ship has been refurbished and is very nice. Splurge for dinner at the Crown Grill, it's well worth it! We stayed in the family suite, which was great. Note: if booking this suite, it DOES have two upper berths in the interior room. I had a hard time figuring this out before we went. So the suite actually sleeps 6 people in beds (not pull-outs) but it would be tight with that many people. There are two bathrooms, one full size with a bathtub and one standard tiny one, a living room and a large balcony. However, the suite is on the very front of the ship which makes the balcony unusable due to wind when the ship is moving. This was a little disappointing. It's a gale force wind on the balcony. The benefits that come with a suite are amazing! The staff on this ship could not have been nicer or more accomodating. They were superb. There is a lot to do on the ship - we loved movies under the stars and trivia nights. In terms of excursions, it all depends on what you want from the cruise. This was our first cruise that made stops (our only other cruise was to Bermuda and we were docked for three days) so I was nervous about getting back to the ship on time. We booked excursions in all the ports except Grand Cayman where we rented bikes - bad idea. Grand Cayman really isn't very bike friendly. If I had it to do again, I would take a taxi or bus to Cemetery Beach and hang out there for the day. The beach in Grand Cayman is stunning!! In Roatan, we did the Tabyana Beach Break and lunch, which I would absolutely do again. The snorkeling was AMAZING. In Belize, we did Snorkeling Wonders of the Barrier Reef which was very disappointing. It was a long boat ride out to a tiny island, which would have been fine but we were only there for about two hours (at most) and the snorkeling was disappointing. I think if I ever do it again, I'll book a private snorkeling tour. In Cozumel, we did the jeep tour - very disappointing. We were under the impression that we would be driving jeeps through the jungle and along the coastline, when in fact we drove HOT jeeps along a highway until we got to Punta Sur Ecopark. We only had about two hours on the beach. Save your money and take a taxi to one of the very close beaches and spend the day there. In all, it was a wonderful cruise. I would definitely do that same itinerary again, but I would spend my time at each port differently. Read Less

Medallion class made cruising so simple! Embarkation was a dream -- we did not wait in line at all. Wearing the Ocean Medallion, our door unlocked as we approached and we could order a drink or food item from literally anywhere on the ship -- no more leaving that lounger for a drink. That said, my favorite part about the Ocean Medallion was being able to locate my "shipmates," AKA my mother! If we were having trouble meeting up (she'd forgotten her phone at home), I could go to any "Ocean Compass" sign (aka Ship Map) or use the app on my phone to locate her. It will be a huge boon when I cruise with my entire family. This trip was just my mother and I. We really enjoyed this particular itinerary: we took to the beach on Princess Cays, having reserved a clam-shell, and then shopped in St. Thomas and St. Maarten. The clam-shell set up was more cumbersome than I'd have liked -- you have to walk quite a ways to get a card to get it set up, and then find someone to help you. They ran out of floats -- not too great for those who had reserved them and didn't get them. I do appreciate the cookout Princess does on their island. It's nice to be able to just stay on the island and have a good lunch and keep swimming. We enjoyed the production shows, as always, particularly BRAVO, and the dancers were amazing. The Cruise Director, Matt, was a hoot - very friendly and accessible. One of the ADs, Andy, was also very visible and fun. Dining was interesting and the service was excellent, as usual. We used traditional dining as we enjoy getting to know other diners and our service staff. We do enjoy the food aboard Princess but miss the escargot and Snow Crab that used to be a part of the menu. We loved the makeover the buffets had received. We ate most breakfasts in the formal dining room because we love their specials, but heard great things about the buffet. All in all, we had a great cruise, our best so far; Princess has made a lot of improvements to the cumbersome parts of cruising like embarkation and disembarkation. Read Less

Embarkation was swift and easy as well as the disembarkation. A nice surprise was the addition of Carrot Juice for breakfast as well as different types of pizza including deep dish varieties at other times. The singers and dancers performances were superb. They were always in sync, graceful and elegant. Don’t miss “Bravo” & “Fantastic Journey” We had a large number of first time cruisers of varying ages and there was always an activity to cater to everyone. And the courteous decorum of everyone was apparent. The Caribbean Princess is a Medallion Class Ship. There are still a few kinks to iron out but overall it was a great experience especially being able to wear your Medallion instead of carrying your card. As you approach your cabin, the door automatically unlocks. You can play games, locate your shipmates, and order drinks with the apps. From the dining room menus to the exceptional service we hated for our cruise to end. We will be back! Read Less

Early-50s mom cruising with mature and independent 16-year-old girl. Great itinerary to visit my dad in Fla. before boarding. We had a fabulous time, with carefully chosen excursions at all 4 ports and lots of fun or quiet reading in between. We never went in a ship pool, and thus avoided any louder kids under 10, but there were not many of those on June 8 week anyway. Indeed the whole ship rarely felt crowded, in part due to the crew's hard work and efficiency. Embarkation and disemb. both a breeze -- major kudos there! Medallions a great value-add that smoothed everything, every day. Loved having my stateroom unlock on my approach, and being able to locate anyone in your party on the many big screens around the ship. FOOD: Don't let any reviews dissuade you on this basis. I'm a major S.F. foodie who cooks a great deal myself--but boarded with "appropriate" expectations for a cruise ship serving 2000+ passengers. I am here to tell you: SOLID job, and sometimes outstanding. Food was reliably very good throughout the week, with lots of variety, including for "traditional" dining. There were just a few disappointing dishes or appetizers, compared with a solid handful that were truly excellent. We never ate in Planks, Steamers, or any other specialty restaurant as there was simply no need. The World Fresh Marketplace (buffet), excursion lunches, the International Cafe and Slice for occasional snacks, and Palm Dining Room had it all covered very nicely. ENTERTAINMENT: Only went to the theater two nights, as we were tired after shore days and 7:30 dinner. Comedian was HILARIOUS (and I went in skeptical)! Really, I laughed so hard I cried. ;-) Production show the first night was good but just not our cup of tea. Never went to casino, but our dining companions did and had a great time. CABIN: We had a big balcony on deck 10 mid-ship---a major plus. Room itself wasn't beautiful to look at (finishes need refreshing), but great beds and amazing amount of storage ... we packed appropriately (not over or under) and never even used two of the desk drawers. Except in the tiny bathroom; there I strongly recommend the cruise trick I picked up online beforehand: a $15 (Target) shoe holder hooked over the bathroom door---presto, 20 clear pockets to hold all your stuff, in easy reach of the shower and sink. PORTS: Had a great time in all. The tour guides work so hard to please! MUST BRING each day: 5s and 1s for tips, other cash for the less commercial vendors who can't take cards, sunscreen, and most importantly: one *reusable* water bottle from home for EACH person, which you should fill with ice and then top with water at World Fresh Marketplace before leaving the ship. Especially in Roatan, the one port with inadequate sources for drinks onshore where you meet your guides, and the most intense sun! We aimed to avoid using disposable plastic bottles, and it was just good to know we had ice water on hand to start each day. Even bringing all that water, we still had to buy Arizona iced teas along the way, in addition to the drinks served with our cooking lesson in Cozumel (awesome!!), catamaran lunch on way back from snorkeling in Roatan (best roast chicken I can remember eating in my life), etc. Caribbean in June is very warm. VIBE/ACTIVITIES: Lots of variety; something for everyone, especially on sea days--though I would have liked to have a yoga class in the mornings. Very recent movies in cabin and on big screen near pool on Lido Deck, for those who want that. Great that they showed Game 6 of the NBA Finals in a big lounge! Average age of passengers 58-62, I'd say, but plenty of older folks and also lots of families. No rowdy teens or heavy drinking, at least that I ever saw going to bed by 10:30 every night. No overselling of art/jewelry/future cruises, and I'm very sensitive to that; we were able to enjoy looking at everything with only mild overtures that we respectfully declined and that was that. Overall I thought it was a great value for the price paid. Having waited a week to write this, the experience has "grown" in retrospect to one I'll think super-fondly of for years to come. Read Less

Just returned from a fabulous 7 day cruise to Grand Cayman, Roatan-Honduras, Belize and Cozumel. The Caribbean Princess is one of the bigger ones and has just been outfitted with Ocean Medallion. The biggest plus for this is the excellent internet service. You can now purchase internet for the entire voyage. It is quick and you don't have to log in and out to save minutes. BUT be sure to purchase on the first day at a greatly reduced price. The ports on this itinerary were excellent - 4 days of non-stop fun. The entertainment on board was fabulous. It was nice to see new shows and entertainers and Princess is really trying to appeal to a younger crowd now with their shows. There was a much younger crown on board than I've previously seen on Princess but there was something for everyone-us slightly older folk and the younger cruisers. I can always count on Princess to deliver a quality experience. Entertainment is one of their specialties with the Voice of the Ocean to culminate a great week of entertainment and game shows/trivia. If there is a choir offered on board, I always join that as it's a great way to meet people. This time you could learn the steel drums and our fellow passengers delivered a really great concert on the final day. Grand Cayman- port is right downtown George Town. I did the tourist things like going to the Tortolla/Rum factory for tastings (very busy place), visiting the town of Hell and going to the Turtle Farm - I really enjoyed them all. Then I bought a brand watch in town - was very grateful for the Princess discount offered to me. Roatan-Honduras-this is a beautiful port made specifically by Carnival Corp. I did a dolphin encounter to Anthony's Key Resort. I loved the small group we had and the fact that our dolphins were in a very beautiful, natural setting. They were very healthy and having so much fun with us. The trainer was excellent. It is only an encounter, not a swim though. Water was lovely and warm. Then back at port, I couldn't resist taking the chair lift to Mahogany Bay beach - a man-made beach resort - I enjoyed the ride so much I did it twice. It costs US$14 at the port or US$12 bought through Princess for unlimited rides. Great views as you are taking the 5min ride and right next to the cruise ship. The beach area is noisy though and appeals to a younger crowd. I was so glad to hear that the port area provides lots of jobs for the locals as this is a very poor island and is an eye opener to see. You need to have compassion for the locals. Belize-the people of Belize are very warm and friendly. I took the tour to the Lamanai ruins. It was the highlight of my trip. You are taken by bus to a boat dock area and taken by speedboat to the Archaeological site of Lamanai deep in the jungle. We did an hour's hike round 4 of the best sites - the Jaguar Temple, the High Temple, the Mask Tempe and the Ball Court. You could climb a staircase they had built to the top of the High Temple - highly recommended - views are amazing. It feels surreal standing on top of a structure that was built over 3000 years ago. Walking trails are uneven so wear good closed toed shoes and it is HOT so bring lots of water. Back at the boat dock we were given a nice lunch of chicken, rice and beans, potato salad and fruit punch - all very welcome after a hot hike. Cozumel-I did a dolphin swim at this port and an encounter with manatees which are sweet, docile creatures. This is a commercial facility that churns out dolphin swims by the thousands each day so, whereas I was glad to fulfill a bucket list item of swimming with dolphins, I enjoyed my gentle encounter at St. Anthony's Key Roatan much more. The port shopping area is teeming with multiple ship loads of people so be aware of the crowds. Overall I chose this itinerary because of the port stops on offer and felt that visiting 4 ports in the 7 days made my trip really good value. Highly recommended. Read Less

Got a good deal on a cruise for my wife, daughters and their respective beaus' so we decided to take a family vacation from the Pacific Northwest to the Hot Caribbean, and hot it was. The ship was very clean and well kept up and the staff was exceptionally pleasant throughout. Matt the cruise director and his first mate Andy were great and very entertaining and kept us in stiches the whole time we were on board. Our room steward was never far from sight and the room was always impeccable. Food was good but it has digressed form the Princess of 15 years ago but I guess that is true of a lot of things as the accountants take over. Overall the cruise was great and we all had a wonderful time and the Caribbean Princess is a well run well kept ship. We would cruise again on her without hesitation. Read Less

I love Princess! Rooms are amazing, and the beds are more comfortable than my own. Staff pampers you and there are many great things to do. We are already planning our next Princess cruise. Princess is our preferred criuse line. Took a 14 day European cruise on Princess last year as well and was amazed with the ship experience as well as the excursions. You can relax and enjoy your time and thete is something to do for all ages. The only way to vacation for me now will be cruising. Pools, casino, ocean view, great food, bingo, and night time entertainment all wrapped up in one. It is even better with the medallion, makes everything so easy. Love the room service and speed and quality of the food. Lookung forward to the many many more cruises I will be taking with princess. Bon voyage until we cruise again. Thank you Read Less

We chose our cabin after my husband researched the aft ones. The view could not be beat, as one can see almost all of the port or other islands. Embarkation/Disembarkation was worse than going through TSA at any airport hub. It totally should have taken a lot less than the 30 minutes, coming and going in Port Everglades. Our cabin did not disappoint, as it had lots of closet spaces and plenty of drawers. However, the bathroom could have used an extra sink and some shelves for toiletry storage. The bathtub, with its jets was a complete dream. So good for a soak and rest! Wished that I could have folded it up, and put in the suitcases! The shower was a good one, with a great showerhead that could be adjusted for different streams. The overall shower needed to have a different kind of door that sealed, as there was a stream of water that escaped out the bottom and flooded the bathroom! Dining did not disappoint...plenty of venues and choices. Whether your tastes run to steak, seafood or ice cream, it was all good. The wait staffs and managers were totally top notch!! We had one of our shore excursions cancel, due to nature, and the others were a complete surprise with the places we saw and areas we viewed! Would do it again in a heartbeat!! Read Less

I do have to admit a bit of bias for this one- my wife and I got married on this cruise, so we received outstanding extra treatment by the ship's staff including the Captain- Mario Ciruzzi. That said- I saw a lot of mixed reviews for this ship before we headed out. It is smaller than the Royal Class ships I had been on before, but in some ways that made it nicer. It wasn't quite as crowded and was at least slightly easier to get around. We got a mini-suite stateroom (D715) and were very surprised at how much room it had. The cabin was very comfortable with two nice flat-screen TVs and an air conditioning system that actually worked (unlike my previous cruise). Medallion Class embarkation was just as-advertised. After a quick passport check and scanning in our medallions, we went to a nice waiting lounge for the ship to start boarding. It was a lot easier and faster than the old cruise card check-in process. Once we boarded- we explored the ship to figure out where everything was. We went up to check out where our stateroom was, and our steward already had it finished (almost an hour early!). As I said in my summary above- we were very surprised at how much space it actually had. We LOVED the large bathroom and sitting area, and extra-large balcony. The furnishings and ship itself are a bit dated. While the electronic systems have all been updated, the furnishings and decor are a bit older and showing some wear. Everything was clean and in good condition though. Most of the lighting is fluorescent, which I found a bit annoying compared to the instant-on LED lighting of the newer ships. Things I loved about the ship: Lots of pools! They have a Sanctuary pool, but beside it- there are two large main pools and one adults-only pool on the aft side of the ship, along with hot tubs at all of them. This gave us a lot of options for different music and crowds while we were onboard. I think the Explorer's Lounge is an upgrade from "Princess Live" on other ships. Very nice bar area and lounge, with frequent entertainment options. Skywalkers. It has kind of a 70s vibe and I'm not really into dancing, but it is a unique feature that I thought was fun and special about this ship. Negatives: The only real negative I have, which I have complained about before, is the almost-constant marketing, in particular from Effy. Beyond that- the "usual" complaints pretty much everyone has about a cruise ship- I felt like I spent way too much time waiting for lifts, and the food choices, particularly in the buffet, weren't the greatest. The latter is really subjective though. Princess Cays: I complained a lot about this place on my last cruise. This one was better. It was actually raining pretty hard when we first got there, but it cleared up after an hour or so and we had a great time. We rented a clamshell/chairs and a paddleboat, and enjoyed a lot of beach time. The beach is rocky part-way out- so bring water shoes, but the sandy areas and water itself were wonderful. Bar service is still slow- they seem to be trying to implement medallions, but still do all of the orders on paper, which is very inefficient. The food was okay for what it was, and the service there was pretty fast. The only real feedback/complaint I have this time is they really need more showers and foot wash areas. We explored St. Thomas on our own, and overall had a great experience shopping and hanging out in the local bars and restaurants. We were supposed to go on a tour (not arranged by Princess) and the guy overbooked and took off 10 minutes before he was supposed to leave, so we missed it. Fortunately we didn't pay in advance! On St. Maarten we did the SXM Airport Adventure boat, booked through Princess. They had a great bar and food on the boat, and took us around to the bay in front of the famous Princess Juliana International Airport. We watched jets and other planes take off and land while enjoying great music, food, and drink. There was snorkeling and floating off of a platform attached to the boat, and the crew was fun and very helpful. I highly recommend that excursion. After that we explored the local shops and bars, and spent a couple of hours on the beach next to town. There are a few sections there where you can rent a beach umbrella and chairs cheap. (We paid $15 for an umbrella and two chairs for the afternoon.) Debarkation went even more smoothly, as they had "EZ-Check" to our airline (Southwest), so we checked our bags through to our destination from our cabin. I think it took less than 10 minutes from our cabin to the shuttle bus to the airport. This is a great service Princess offers if you can take advantage of it. Read Less
