As Platinum Elite members my wife and I have cruised with Princess many times. We have decided that our recent 5 day cruise will be our last with Princess. The cruise line's food quality and serving size has declined substantially in all of the dining areas. Very poor taste and quality, and presentation. The specialty restaurant price has increased 16% from $25 to $29 per person while the meat quality and serving sizes have deteriorated. No additional items such as lobster can be added to one's entree without an additional $29 charge. These prices have crossed the line with us. For room service, if ordering a pizza, there is a charge of $3 in addition to the service charge and requested tip. It seems Princess now nickels and dimes the passengers on each and every detail while onboard. This in spite of a $2 billion dollar profit for 2017. Although smoking is restricted in all but the starboard side and casino, we did observe vaping (electronic cigarettes) in the Crooner's bar. Vaping is just as harmful to one's health as smoking. For 2018 we cancelled two future cruises on Princess and re-booked with Holland America and Celebrity. No more Princess who has declined to the level of Carnival. Read Less

My experience with princess was one of the worst travel experiences i have ever had. It was my first experience with princess, and i will never patronize them again, and i will vociferously encourage others to avoid princess at all costs. I will be publishing this report to every relevant travel portal. Starting with the Ports visited: The ports were not bad choices, however port days were far too short except for curação. there wasn't enough time in each port to have a chance to walk around and have a chance to get to know the place. Excursions offered by princess were extremely limited and obscenely overpriced. i did not purchase any of princess' excursions. Trinidad was a hazard. i attempted to walk out into trinidad, as i had done with every other port, just to spend some time getting to know a little of the place. shortly into my walk i was stopped by a secret service police officer, who showed me her badge, and begged me to please turn around and go back to the ship and not continue walking, as i was walking into a death trap. i learned that a day or two prior to our arrival in trinidad, someone had been shot to death in the street of the city proper - near the port where we docked. Essentially, by running on only one engine and stopping in a port that was already known to be highly dangerous, princess was putting everyone at extreme risk. no warnings were announced at any time regarding these conditions in trinidad. It rained at every port, yet princess refused to provide umbrellas. The ship: We were running on only one engine for the entire journey. this caused the ship to suffer imbalance in the water. This fact was not shared with passengers. this was a fact that should have been shared with passengers as it is a hazard to run the ship on only one engine. princess is legally required to run ships and any equipment under the most stringent requirements of safety. running a 14 day journey on only one engine in international waters was extreme negligence on the part of the princess cruise company. We experienced extreme turbulence on the ship throughout journey, to the point that a man was thrown down and hit his head against a wall because of the rocking of the boat. Crew moved him into a seated position, which i understand was just an effort to try to help, but i have always been taught that in an emergency situation, never ever move an injured person before emts arrive to assess the injuries and proceed to treat the person. he had to be airlifted out by helicopter because of the injury. I am a pretty surefooted person and have very good balance as i am a dancer, and i was thrown so violently by the turbulence that i often tripped. In one such situation, i hit a banister hard enough with my hip to bruise it. Regarding running on one engine, if that one engine had failed, we would have been stranded at sea for an unspecified period of time before being located and towed to the nearest landing port. in addition to that unacceptable risk, with no engine power, the ballast pumps would have stopped working, and without that constant balancing of weight, the ship would list to one side, eventually capsizing. The staff: I experienced rudeness and disrespect most of the time. the front desk staff (except for a very few individuals), was an abomination to the phrase "customer service". my concerns and requests were consistently ignored, dismissed, or flat out refused. I commented to one front desk agent during a phone call that i had had enough of the attitude, and her response was that she wasn't "going to take attitude from me either". incredible. I was charged for things that i had never requested and never approved. I disputed these charges on disembarkation day. I was threatened with having security called on me. I was aghast. I have disputed the charges on my credit card. I could not believe how horribly i was treated. I even spoke with the agent, (named robyn), with whom i had had the original conversation about the charges. She threw me under the bus. She kept repeating that i "had signed it". She insisted that i said things that i did not say. She insisted that i knew things that i did not know. I could not believe that i was being treated with such reckless cruelty and disregard. I wrote at least 4 letters to the general hotel services manager during the voyage. no compensation was offered. no reply was made to me. i informed the general hotel services manager that i would be writing a full report, and that it was the responsibility of princess' staff to convince me not to. no action was taken. The food: Princess has the worst food i have ever had on any cruise line. holland is far better, ncl is far better, celebrity embarrasses princess by comparison. princess' food is absolutely piss poor in every sense. i heard this from many many many guests. Every papaya i asked for was rock hard. raspberries were never available. strawberries were clearly frozen and defrosted before being served - hence most of the time, they were inedible. I had to fight every time i asked for blueberries. cateloupe, honeydew, and watermelon were all consistently rotted/past ripeness, mushy, inedible. The "variety" of dishes offered was pathetically limited. again, ncl, celebrity, and holland all embarass princess on food quality and variety. Most food was obviously frozen and defrosted. all of the seafood was frozen and defrosted before serving, which made it all rubbery, dry, cardboardy, and flavourless. the selection was ridiculously inadequate. in a phrase, the food was absurdly bad. At sabatini's i had to send two dishes back because they were flavourless and insanely oversalted. I could teach the chef how to cook, and i am self-taught. most of the food on the ship was insanely oversalted, or insanely too sweet. I cook better when i am sick enough to be bedridden. Popcorn was not available except at only one hour during the day, and not accessible at any other time, no matter how many requests i made. The soft ice cream was grainy, watery, in a word, disgustingly poor in quality. the only flavours offered were vanilla and chocolate in soft ice cream. no frozen yoghurt was available. for an additional fee, there was hard ice cream available in vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry. ridiculous. unacceptable. Drinks were inconsistent all over the ship. General: On embarkation day, the steward for my section barged into my room without knocking. i spent the day on lines 30 - 60 minutes waiting on each line, correcting screw-ups of the crew. Cabin: My bathroom was not working on embarkation day, and i was forced to walk out and use ship public bathrooms. my steward, after having barged into my room without knocking, offered only excuses about how he could not get my bathroom fixed because he was not the plumber. Cabin furnishings were outdated and dingy. I had been sent a message from princess before sailing, stating that i had been upgraded to a better cabin. I can't imagine what the worse cabin looked like. In my "new" cabin, the carpet was worn & stained. It was obviously very old. considering claims that the ship had been refurbished recently, it is obvious that absolutely nothing had been done with the cabin i occupied. The bathroom was filthy & had hair in it from the previous occupant. The balcony & deck furniture were filthy. There were stains on the bedside tables. There were pieces of small trash on the floor. the carpet did not appear to have been vacuumed. The shower had cracks & rust. my bed at home is way more comfortable than the bed in the princess cabin. Any time that i opened the balcony door, a panel in the ceiling howled. It was impossible to enjoy having fresh air in the room. I had to request extra blankets & the ones provided looked like they had been taken from a homeless shelter. One of the blankets had a hole in it. My bathroom did not work for a second time during the cruise. During the cruise the one single insufficient outlet in my cabin stopped working, which meant that i could not charge devices upon which i am dependent to run my life. i had to make numerous phone calls to the front desk to get this addressed. two (2) days after my phone calls to the front desk, i heard someone banging on my cabin door in the middle of day, claiming to be maintenance, and enquiring about my non-working outlet. Two days????!!!!!?? two days???!!!!!?? I told the maintenance person that i could not have him enter the cabin at that time, i needed privacy. i left my cabin shortly after that, and the steward for my section removed the privacy tag that i had placed into my door lock, and entered my room against my express wishes for privacy. things were removed from my cabin that i needed, and other things in my cabin were re-arranged against my wishes. i reported this to the general hotel services manager. No compensation was offered. Internet Access: It was obsecenely overpriced - - morally reprehensible pricing for an essential basic need for everyone. everyone must have regular simple easy internet now no matter where one may be. it is that simple. the price gauging for this is as morally reprehensible as price gauging for water and food. The internet barely worked. when it did, it would take copious amounts of time to get anything done, thereby eating up precious obscenely price-gauged minutes. Internet access is a basic need for everyone now, as are water and food, and should be available at no added cost for the entire ship. period. Entertainment/Gym/Fitness: There were not enough zumba classes. There should have been 2 (two) zumba classes per day (morning and afternoon/evening) - on every day - sea and port. There should have been more classes offered every day - not with extra charges - they should have been included. The gym should have been bigger. Club fusion was freezing cold all of the time. It was impossible to be there without wearing a coat. I wrote to the the cruise director, requesting more zumba classes. he disregarded my request about classes and did so in a quite indifferent unfriendly manner. One of the people who hosted karaoke was snotty and sarcastic with me. I don't remember his name. He hosted the voice as well. The karaoke library of music was extremely limited. None of the songs i looked for were in the library. It is one of the worst collections i have ever seen. The karaoke library had zero tina turner songs (and only one obscure ike and tina track, so what), it had no eurythmics, no pat benetar. The gym should have been bigger. Norwegian's, holland's, and celebrity's gym and spa areas are all much larger and put princess' dingy broken down jacked up "gym" and "spa" to shame. Because there were not enough classes, i needed the area where the mirrors were located to do my own series every day. but there were constant scheduling problems for me to do that, because that space was occupied throughout the day by princess' staff hosting money-bilking snake-oil-selling seminars. staff could have arranged to utilize other space for these "seminars" rather than constantly monopolizing space needed by those of us who really needed that space to maintain our fitness regimens. Spa: There were only 5 stone thermal beds for all of the guests who had spa access. i often could not get a bed, or had to wait for one. the spa, locker area, and salon were dingy and outdated. The aromatherapy steam room could only hold one person comfortably. Two people in that room would mean one would have to sit on the lap of the other. The sauna constantly stank of rotten eggs. I was in the sauna every day. It stank of rotten eggs every day. it was disgusting, but because i really needed the heat, i had to tolerate it by putting a towel over my mouth and having to breathe through the towel. the other steam/spa rooms were old, dingy, outdated, unappealing, and basically useless. The locker area was old, dingy, depressing. Folded towels on the shelves were frequently wet - - not fully dry. the spa robes were old, threadbare, and dingy. I was appalled at just how old, dingy, depressing, and totally unappealing or comfortable the entire spa was. Norwegian's, holland's, and celebrity's spas put princess to shame. It is embarrassing how gross princess' spa is. This is what princess calls a multi-million dollar refurbishment ?????!! Photographers: I tried to take some nice photos on nyeve, but the photographer could not have been less interested in helping me to get a good shot - - that i would actually be willing to buy. I did not buy any photos because they all sucked because the photographer did not care at all to help me get good shots, even though i asked and tried to get a few interesting looks. The photographer just rushed me to pose in the same stupid way that everyone poses. He would not help me to take photos that were uniquely expressing me, and would have been worth my money to buy. if princess wants to sell photos, photographers need to actually care about what people want, and take time to take photos that are genuinely desired. Casino: Scratch off games were entitled to a second chance via raffle on the ship. I bought several scratch off games, but the first time i bought them, the cashier did not bother to tell me that they had a second chance if i did not win anything in the scratch-off. i threw away tickets that i could have entered in the raffle. The second time i bought scratch off games, the cashier told me about the raffle. i returned to the first cashier to call him out on not telling me that i had a second chance to win something with non-paying scratch-offs, and he just gave me some dumb indifferent look. He did not care at all. i lost a second chance at the raffle for those scratch-offs because of his total indifference and lack of attention to customer care. I cannot believe that the majority of your employees on the ship are just like this. it is truly unfathomable. If that cashier had been in my shoes, he would have been extremely disappointed and upset. "Art" Gallery: "fine arts" ???? it was all trash. not a shred of "art" to be found. Medical: As with the internet, medical care is price-gauged, and minimal in scope. morally reprehensible. Disembarkation Day: As i stated above, i was charged for things that i had never requested and never approved. I was on the phone fighting about it starting at 5:30 am on disembarkation day. the ship was so extremely turbulent with only one engine, that i did not sleep at all during the previous night. I had to go down to the front desk to dispute these charges on disembarkation day. I was threatened with having security called on me. I was aghast. I had to make dispute and fraud reporting phone calls throughout the day to my credit card and other financial institutions. As i stated above, i even spoke with the agent, (named robyn), with whom i had had the original conversation about the charges. She threw me under the bus. She kept repeating that i "had signed it". She insisted that i said things that i did not say. She insisted that i knew things that i did not know. Even during my dispute with them over the charges, robyn took the things i was saying during that conversation and twisted them on me as i was speaking. my statements were completely disregarded. I could not believe that it was happening. Customs: There was a very long line to wait to pass through customs. Negative surprises: Everything from day 1 until walking off of the ship was a negative surprise. This is my report on princess' failure to deliver value for the fortune of money they charged me, on every level. Read Less

My family and I cruised on the Princess Caribbean. It was a 14 night cruise covering 9 ports. We had never cruised with Princess before, now I know why. So I’ll start with our staterooms. We booked 2 balcony cabins. I must say, we choose Princess because we missed out booking with Celebrity, our favorite cruise line. The staterooms smelled of urine. I mistakenly hung my night shirt on the bathroom hook, when I went to sleep in it, it reeked of piss. Piss is stronger than urine in my opinion. The sheets were barely changed. My son mistakenly spilled chili on his sheets and the sheets stayed on the bed 3 more days. My cabin was on the Caribe deck, deck 10. The laundry room must have experienced a leak because every evening the floors were wet and quite naturally it began to smell of mildew. It was very difficult to charge our devices, the outlets barely worked, at least consistently. We had 3 formal nights of dining, which meant we had to dress accordingly, so we did. All dressed up to eat what the Little Rascals referred to as mush. The food could have been feed to the malnourished animals on the islands we visited. The food on the lido deck was not much better, but at least we could manage a halfway decent breakfast. I ate Cheerios, Grape Nuts and bananas. I did manage to have a triangular shaped hash brown, egg over easy and crisp bacon on a couple of mornings, thank goodness. The third formal night we were treated to a dish referred to as “Lobster 3 ways. “ Well, what we received was lobster one way, nasty and tasteless. Seriously they didn’t even try, another way to keep overhead low. Now let’s move on to the service. Disembarking the ship when we were in port, the attendants were rude. Just to be clear, there was a noticeable difference in the way I was treated versus the way people with less melanin was treated. Take that anyway you want to. The funny thing is that the people of color that I encountered basically experienced the same treatment, coincidental, doubt it. Now let’s talk a bit about the activities and entertainment. There was BINGO, steel pan drums, ice sculpting, drink mixing, mahjong, western line dancing, do I need to go on ? There was a tribute to Whitney Houston, the height of activities for me. I heard it mentioned that Princess can offer better prices because they have less overhead. That makes sense because everything they offer is sub par. They claimed to have spent all this money when the ship was in dry dock. I believe they said 28 million. I think that was a mistake. It was probably like 28 dollars. Save your money and cruise another line. Cruising with Princess is money wasted. Quite frankly, this experience has left an indelible first impression. No Mas, No Mas. Read Less

I chose Princess because I never sailed with them before. I went on my birthday and thought it would be something special and to my surprise it was very dissapointing. I suggest that more interactive activities be provided for the passengers that stay on board while in a port. The dining menu was good and the steff was great, they were very proficent and professional and was very attentive to your needs. The cabin staff was very good and provided whatever you needed. There is a lot of needed improvement in there entertainment. It would be nice if they provided more venues instead of the same two or three they schedule they just move from one place to another. I feel that Princess provides their activities for the oldest passengers when some of us are still young at heart and would like more then just flying paper airplanes, knitting and art auctions. I don't think I will be sailing with Princess again. Read Less

This is my first cruise critic review and it is negative. I have had plenty of wonderful vacations on the sea but never choose to share, I should have, now knowing what a bad experience feels like. My girlfriends and I travel once a year and this vacation was the partial Panama locks transit. there are so many things that upset me it is hard to know where to start so I will just list them. 1.) Had a suite and did not receive priority boarding, they would not move us to the front of the line because they were behind because of a medical emergency. Emergency was over, they should have moved the passengers who paid for suites and the priority boarding to the front no matter how late they were. 2.) One of our travelers had an accident day before embarkation, she needed wheelchair assistance. We phoned prior to leaving on our trip and were assured we could reserve a wheelchair on board. Waited for assistance for 2.5 hours!!! Then when she arrived on board all wheelchairs were taken. there was not one to rent, after we already phoned!! BTW, wheelchair rental $25 per day. So our friend was cabin bound for the first few days. 3.) Family suite, the room was old, dated, furniture worn, bare minimum on toiletries. We booked this specific suite, a year in advance because of the extended balcony on the front of the ship for when we went through the locks but the balcony was obstructed, not clear, it was a balcony but not glass! The part we could see through was the same size as any standard balcony yet the brochure never stated the balcony was obstructed! You know I could go on and on because this cruise really went from bad to worse, seriously there is so, so, so much more that no one would read it but let me just tell you. Avoid this cruise at all costs, save your money and find a line that treats guests better. About 20 more truly disturbing things happened such as changing my excursion form and issuing tickets to an excursion that I didn't sign up for but I didn't notice until tour day because they put the tickets in an envelope. I went back to the desk and asked to see my form, thinking wow, I made a mistake but no, the tour number had been crossed out and changed and the tour person said oh, the one you wanted was full!! Unacceptable. We went to the manager and they offered me a bottle of wine for my trouble. Wine!! I had the unlimited drink package, not to mention all of the women traveling are in the service industry. We came with cash as well as pre-paying our gratuities and tipped everyone that served us because that's how we live. I even gave the jackass that issued the tickets $5. Again, just the tip of the iceberg. Never again Princess, Harmony of the Seas here we come! Read Less

My husband and I sailed on the Caribbean Princess Nov. 20th. thru the 30th. We did the Panama Canal. The ship was beautiful along with our room and the ports of call were amazing. This was our fifth time cruising with Princess. The first night we decided to go to the dining room, when arriving we were told about a 30 minute wait, not a problem for us at all. When we got to the end of the line we were asked if we would like to share a table or have a private table for two, we opted for the table for two, were told to go wait in the lounge and handed a buzzer. When the buzzer went off 20 minutes later we were taken to the Palm dining room upstairs and led to a table to share. We told the host we didn't wait almost an hour to share a table, he said this is not sharing a table I said yes it is. He got aggravated and took us back to the hostess desk where we were taken to another table which was near the staff's station where they pour coffee, tea and water. It was so noisy that we left and went to the buffet. We have been on Princess cruises where the first night they have a wonderful seafood buffet. Not this time, the food looked horrible. So many food items not labeled. I had to ask what kind of fish they were serving. I was told it was basa and tilapia, two fish I refuse to eat. Come to find out they only have one side of the buffet open and you have to walk all the way around to the closed side of the buffet to eat because the open side is too crowded and by the time you get there your food is cold. Really felt bad for the elderly that had to walk all the way around. The next day we went to Princess Cay. What a disappointment. Waited in a long line for lunch and then when we got to the buffet they were out of most of the food. When I asked one of the staff if I could have a hamburger bun his response was "We are finished." I looked at my watch which read 12:55, they were supposed to be serving til 1:30. We had a hamburger patty, lettuce and tomato and a banana for lunch. Decided to get a tropical drink at one of the outdoor bars, was told it was closing and would have to walk quite a way to get a drink at another bar. i looked at my watch which said 1:45, we were on the island til 5:00. I just said forget it!!! The breakfasts at the buffet were awful. They serve watery scrambled eggs....we opted for fruit every morning. Even the muffins were dry and bland. Had lunch in the dining room one day. I had a hamburger and fries which were good, my husband had a club sandwich was the saddest looking one I had ever seen. He had me try his potato chips which were stale. Most nights we tried to get in to the dining room but were told was a 45 minute wait, so back to the disgusting buffet. Only had one good meal and that was in the Crown Grill. We figured out that Princess is now making their food taste bad so you will eat in their restaurants you have to pay for. You had to get to the shows 30-45 minutes before they started or you had to stand which we did for one. One morning while using the gym I noticed several people waiting for a stretch class to begin, overheard one of them saying "I guess the instructor isn't going to show up again." Pretty bad when instructors don't even show up to teach a class. My husband noticed one morning where he watched an instructor leave a class go eat something in his office and then go teach the class while chewing on food, very unprofessional. I had to use the bathroom that the gym and spa shared one morning, walked in and one was out of order so I went into the other one, what a disgusting mess on the floor that I ended up cleaning up myself with paper towels. On the way out I said to one of the Ukrainian girls that worked in the spa that they really needed to address the mens dirty bathroom, her response was "We don't take care of that."! The entire staff seemed to be tired and just not caring about the guests on their ship. While on board we received our kit which allows us to become Platinum members. This was and will be our last time ever on a Princess Cruise. We keep asking ourselves what has happened to this beautiful cruise line which we always rated 5 stars and couldn't say enough good things about. Read Less

We went because we wanted to see the Panama Canal and that we did but even that tour had a lot of problems like getting off the ship late, to not having a Panama Canal pilot ready to go, getting back 2 1/2 hours late. The staff was unfriendly and there was NO help at the Passenger service area. We were told to just deal with the problem like not being able to get into the room or down the hall with a walker. Never though we needed a handicapped room. Showers were cold, only one chair in a room, Princess told people they could not take a wheel chair and there was no reason for that as it was even a long way to get to the bus. Problems that we faced on this cruise: October 7 to October 21, 2017. • First day, Cabin R327 was assigned to us. This cabin had fold-up bunk beds and is unsuitable for seniors like us. We should not have been assigned this cabin. Getting up at night to use the bathroom was a real ordeal, hitting head on the bunk bed above was an on going thing. Also, will attach a picture of the ceiling panels that were sagging. The TV was not working properly, the closed captions would not work, and the contrast and color was so bad that it was hard to watch. The new bed that was announced to be the best night sleep you ever had was arranged into a queen bed had dip or canoe that made our backs hurt each morning. • Elite upgrades normally found in the room were missing; we did get the bar set up. The Captains Circle Party showed many cut backs from the Captain not being there or any ship's officers attending. No finger sandwiches, no announcements, time was cut. • Third day we experienced a rainstorm and now we know why the ceiling panels were sagging. While sitting in bed that morning water dripped on our head. Reported to the cabin Stewart. Call was made to check water leak. • We were shocked and we did report the recorded music that was being played throughout the ship on sea days. This was rap with the F word and B words being sung out for all to hear. There is no place on earth that we should have to hear this type of language, and so very not appropriate on a cruise with children. • Seventh day we experienced another rain storm and when returning to our cabin at approximately 10 pm we found that there was water leaking from the light on the bed and the bed was wet. Called the front desk, the cabin Stewart. Norma from Guest Services came up and saw the problem. After many excurses on why this was not fix the first time, Norma moved us to another room for the night telling us that they will have workers in our cabin working on the leak until morning. At 6 am the following morning, a cabin Stewart walked into the room that we were given not knowing we were there. Not good to be woken up like that. We called Guest Services to get an update on the leak as Norma told us to do at 8 am. We were told that the leak was fixed but the carpenter will be back to put the panels back up and that we could go back and get things but could not use the cabin yet as they were still working in there. Therefore, we go back to the room to find that no one was there and it did not look like anything was done and the ceiling panels were still up and sagging. To get to the point of this long story, we were lied to repeatedly. They did not fix the leak the first time and not the second and the ceiling panels were never repaired. We were very fortunate that it did not rain again before we got off the boat. I sincerely hope the next occupant of that cabin has a dry cruise. Read Less

Apparently Princess cruise lines has lost sight of what customer service is. My wife suffers from medical dietary restrictions which limit her food intake to simply cooked fish and poultry, nothing exotic or difficult. Pre-cruise we gave a detailed letter outlining her diet, cooking requirements (i.e. poached only, no added spices, oils) and were assured this was no issue. To confirm this when we arrived on-board we met with the Maitre D who again assured us this was no issue. "If my chefs can't cook this they shouldn't work here" he told us. For two days all they would cook her were poached eggs, at one point refusing to thaw any fish for breakfast. Her request was only for poached fish and a baked potato but apparently even that was too much for 217 chefs. The ship shut down the dining room every port day which meant they would provide her only breakfast and supper in the dining room. We tried to make arrangements for lunch food on port days in the buffet restaurant but that too was futile. Every day that arrangements were made the head waiter in the buffet refused to follow through, at one point shoving an index finger in my wife's face (remember; she hasn't had a proper meal in 3-4 days) and told her "I told you I wasn't going to cook for you". After 5 days of running back and forth between the dining room and pursers desk we finally met with the head of Food and Beverage on day 6. After almost 6 days of a 14 day cruise fighting to be fed we finally had gotten high enough to get some satisfaction. We were offered $500 onboard credits ("take it or leave it") and finally the hammer came down on the galley staff to serve food as required. Post cruise we asked for further compensation given that, in our opinion, we had lost nearly half our cruise (an $8000 investment before cruising) and spoiling the whole cruise. We were offered a $125 future cruise credit with the caveat that Princess will NOT accommodate my wife's' diet in future. Emails to the VP of Customer Service have not been replied to. Customer service have phoned twice (no paper trail) to tell us we're not banned from Princess, they're simply not going to cook for us. Isn't that the same thing? Princess will cook gluten free, Kosher, dairy free, nut free but won't poach a piece of fish or chicken. Go figure. We sailed on the MSC Opera in March 2017 with the same dietary restrictions without a problem. In fact they doted over my wife trying to meet her needs. Since returning another family member has travelled on Regal Princess. They happened to notice that the tv wasn't working one day and reported it to staff. A $200 onboard credit appeared on their statement for the inconvenience. But starve a woman for 6 days and ruin a vacation? Well that's only worth $500. Insult upon insult. I have avoided using the public domain to air our grievances until now but after nearly two months of getting nowhere with them it's time to bring out the big guns, you guys. Princess has lost us as customers. We are booked into 2019 for five weeks of cruising valued at over $30,000 on another cruise line. Princess won't see a penny. Thanks for listening. Read Less

we have sailed many times, generally split between Princess, RCL, Holland America, Norweigian and Carnival.....mostly Princess and RCL...about 22 Cruises Last August we took the 12 day UK, cruise out of Southampton, to Ireland, Scotland, Orkney Islands, Guernsey Island and Le Havre. We noticed lack of Purell Hand Sanitizing stations, instead they had double sinks in the LIDO but nobody was using them.....there were a lot of sick people with the Australian Flu, they sent around a notice warning us to wash our hands and avoid the public washrooms. We have always had good service and no problems, on our second day my wife and I have allergies and we noticed strong smell of mold in our cabin....we reported it to our cabin steward, who used chemicals in the drains etc but to no avail, then they javexed everything which lasted one day, by the fourth day (at sea) we went down to the infirmary but arrived at 12:01 pm but they were closed, thanks goodness! We were both experiencing all the signs of reactions to mold and mildew (sore throats etc), we went up for lunch and met another couple at our table that warned us to stay away from the infirmary, they had friends that went there and got quarantined to their cabin for the duration of the cruise.....so instead we went to the main desk and complained, not very sympathetic.....finally we got a hold of the Cabin Supervisor Manager who asked us to return to our cabin and they would be down shortly to investigate....about an hour later the Cabin Manager and Cabin Supervisor showed up, they both smelled the mold and mildew and were able to get us another balcony cabin on a lower deck. We then spent the rest of the day moving all our stuff down to our new cabin (they did offer to help us). When we got the surveys we gave them a very poor mark, the Manager was supposed to get back to us with an explanation of what they were going to do to fix the mold and mildew problem, I went down to the main desk and saw him and asked him again for an explanation, I was concerned that they would do nothing and the next people taking our balcony room would run into the same condition.....even though he promised me an explanation we never received one.....my wife and I both gave them a failing mark on the survey and asked for a response.....no response ever came. I wrote to Princess about our experience two times, no response, I finally phoned them and the customer service girl confirmed that I had the right email address, she said to send again and guaranteed I would get a prompt response......once again no response ever came. I am still getting their monthly sales bulletins etc.... My wife and I are disappointed with Princess we thought they were a world class cruise line......by the way we have booked a Baltic Cruise with RCL Brilliance of the Seas on June 9th, 2018.....and have invited two other couples to join us all with balcony cabins, I guess Princess has lost a good customer due to their lack of concern ..... Crew was lackluster like they were really tired, lots of repairs being done, long lines at custoner service because of complaints (no hot water for 4 days, lost luggage for one week which was mostly Princess' inability to communicate with airline and more), balcony cabin really showing wear and tear - my husband fixed a couple things, nowhere near enough seating at shows, dinner food in top deck buffet not great, dining room dinner companions all had complaints, took 50 minutes standing in line to reboard ship after an excursion (not well staggered for departure and arrival). Trash in the commons areas was not quickly attended to as it had been on other cruises, so the ship looked messy at times. The crew member who did line dancing was a hoot - a bright spot. I wrote a detailed letter to Princess about our experiences. They offered a future $50 shipboard credit for internet that consistently did not work. I felt they should have offered us another cruise based on what we experienced. This was just not a good cruise. We've cruised Princess and other cruise lines and had great times. Read Less

This is the 1st negative review I have ever written, after ~14 cruises (1st time on Princess celebrating our 15 yr wedding anniv.). This is the 1st time we were treated dishonestly & the room was represented so unethically. We paid Princess Cruises $4,482.99 for a "Guarantee Unobstructed Oceanview" room, exact title of the purchase. Our room was obstructed by columns, railing, & a full walkway in front of it (photographed). An other cruises that meant a window with the ocean in front of it. On Princess, people constantly walked in front of our window & tried looking in! So we had to keep the curtain closed at all times making this an interior room! Upon seeing our room was not what we paid for, nor represented, we asked very nicely to Princess to exchange our room for either an interior room & refund part of our money (because we were essentially in an inner room anyway) or we would gladly pay extra for a balcony... THE ROOM WE PAID FOR WAS NOT THE ROOM WE WERE STAYING IN! Princess Cruises responded they had no other rooms & would not refund anything yet did not give us a reason why. When I said, 'You're forcing me to write my 1st bad review ever.' They didn't seem to think it would make a difference. After trying to ask Princess to remedy this, we find out at dinner that night the people at our table PAID $3600 per couple for BALCONY rooms PLUS our room was extremely outdated with old brown carpet, plastic counter-tops, & 70s style cracked blue tiles. EMBARKATION - The ports were great, but this was the most disorganized ship we've ever been on! They KNOW how many people they are going to need to disembark, yet do not provide enough transports where every stop required passengers to wait 1-2 hours for either the boat transfers or the cruise ship bus. We were left to wait in the rain or burning sun for between 1 to 2 hours at nearly every port! When there was a tender they made us wait for up to 2 hours before finally getting a tender boat. **AGAIN, THEY KNOW HOW MANY PASSENGERS THEY NEED TO DISEMBARK BUT CHOOSE TO STEAL 1 - 2 HOURS FROM OUR PORT VISIT BECAUSE THEY DID NOT WANT TO HIRE ENOUGH BOATS and/or BUSES. The FOOD- I am the least picky person, but it was hard to find something I truly enjoyed eating. I said nothing, because the staff seemed like they were trying, but we only remembered one enjoyable meal. ON BOARD ACTIVITIES - roughly 80% of the "activities" on the ship were not actually activities, but sales presentations trying to get you to spend more. All the other cruises we've been on the activities were fun or at least engaging; on Caribbean Princess we left as soon as we politely could. The CLEANING STAFF - the gentleman who cleaned our room was wonderful. He seemed to always be working & looked exhausted, but was always cheerful & greeted us with a friendly smile. THE PORTS (LOVED the cities and their citizens) SOUTHAMPTON -We did an independent tour (not through the cruise) with GoldenTours Private Viewing of Stonehenge. AMAZING! It was breathtaking to be in the center of those 5,000-year-old monoliths, the tour guide was funny, informative, and organized. To stand next to the huge stones was awe-inspiring. GUERNSEY - Such a friendly and informative guide. She loves living in Guernsey and was a wealth of knowledge. The people were so kind there. Even as we waiting for nearly 2 hours for the Princess Cruise's tenders to slowly take us back the Guernsey travel board brought out water and sun block lotion to us. St. Peter Port was beautiful. CORK/COBH - FANTASTIC!!! Blarney Castle TOUR with eCoach Bus Tours from Cork/Cobh, FANTASTIC!! **** Not only did this independent tour get us there BEFORE the Princess tour buses allowing us to go up the Blarney Castle and kiss the Stone in about 15 minutes, it was a THIRD of the cost of the excursion from Princess. However, Princess kept us on the boat for an extra 40 min. so the driver had to wait for us. We still made it to the Blarney Castle before most other groups so were not only able to get up the castle fast, it gave us enough time to explore the vast storybook style gardens, eat lunch, and see the beautiful castle estate on the grounds. DUBLIN - The Sightseeing Hop On Hop Off bus allows you to ride around enjoying the city highlights with guide descriptions and then you can get off to see the Dublin Castle, Guinness Storehouse, etc. Another bus will pick you up when you're done. LIVERPOOL to WALES - It was nice, although a very long ride to Conwy Castle. The sweet guide tried her best, but she had such a monotone delivery it was hard to stay awake. We didn't realize it would be such a long, long drive but it wasca nice to see the countryside and the Moors. We returned so late that we didn’t have any time left to see Liverpool. BELFAST - The Giant's Causeway was a good experience and impressive, but not as impressive as the photos on-line. The Odyssey Coach Tours Shore Excursion: Giants Causeway Tour from Belfast Port was so rushed we only had about 10 - 15 minutes and had to run to get back in time. The buses took so long we beat the bus ride both down and back up the hill. Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge - Odyssey Coach Tours Shore Excursion: Giants Causeway It is an amazing natural phenomenon that has made an incredible series of structures. CARRICK-A-REDE ROPE BRIDGE - Beautiful landscapes and huge cliffs. It's a nice long walk with picturesque views, but you need time to get there and return. They have a limited amount of tickets so buy ahead. Independent Cruise Excursion Tour from Belfast Port. Our guide did not bother reserving tickets for us to go across the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge and the operators told everyone that EACH TOUR GUIDE GROUP KNOWS IF THEY DO NOT RESERVE TICKETS THEN THERE WILL BE NONE AVAILABLE. By a miracle we still found tickets. There was not a single ticket left and lots of people were yelling they were so disappointed. The tour guide co. which did not reserve our tickets was “ODYSSEY COACH TOURS SHORE EXCURSION: Giants Causeway Tour from Belfast Port.” We walked down anyway hoping for a miracle and a kind man standing off to the side said he was not going to use his tickets because he's been over the bridge a hundred times and gave us his tickets! Otherwise we would not have experienced it nor went over to the island. It was a great walk and beautiful view. Thank you kind stranger. GLASGOW – is a lovely and artistic city. It was very hard to get to but once we were there we did the Hop-on Hop-off and were able to tour this delightful city. Glasgow also had great shopping and more Ferrari’s than I’ve seen in a single day. The ship drops you off over 1-1/2 from Glasgow and you have to find a train station to take a 45 min ride into the city. The Scottish people on the train were very upset that Princess Cruises did not call ahead for the big train. Since they did not over half the people had to stand for nearly an hour with their purchases. The city itself was beautiful. INVERGORDON - Excellent Tour, well-organized, and with plenty of time to see Loch Ness, the castle, and explore Invergordon. Plus it was a about 30% of the cost from the cruise ship. We kept beating the ship's bus to each location so we entered with no wait and looked for the Nessie. Very informative and great guide who wore traditional Scottish kilt and was very friendly. EDINBURGH - Hop On Hop Off bus tour & tickets to ‘Skip the line’ to Edinburgh castle. Again, the bus tour guide is so informative and buying the Skip the Line tickets on Viator are well worth it if you'd like to get in without a long wait. The lines are massive if you don't have the Skip the line ticket. The castle is quite impressive as it sits upon the lava rock. Side note: The cruise ship will have you wait between 1-2 hours for a tender HOWEVER, they don't check the ticket number they give you. So we had number 1170, but could have gone with the 1st boat transfer since they don't check. Otherwise, you'll be sitting like we stupidly did waiting for our group # to be called to disembark. LE HAVRE - We took the bus in to the city and enjoyed Le Havre. (Le Havre is not close to anything and we were tired of the long rides. Every tour through the ship was a 2 - 3 hour bus ride each way.) It is a nice city with very friendly people. We enjoyed shopping, their Cathedrals, art, and museum. We've now been to 41 countries & 14 cruises (1st time on Princess). This is the FIRST time a cruise ship company (PRINCESS CRUISES) treated so dishonestly & the Cabin was represented so unethically. To anyone who is considering using princess cruise lines, please read the following all the way through before making your decision. A small background about me. I am a single 29 year old RN who specializes in helping cancer patients. I only get three weeks off a year (that includes my sick time). I have never traveled anywhere or done anything because I have dedicated myself to helping others. I dont usually complain about things and tend to go with the flow. This year, I decided to celebrate my 29th birthday by finally going to see Ireland and Scotland. I was told that Princess cruise lines would be perfect for me due to more luxury, amazing food/rooms and next to no kids (I have none and did not want to have to deal with the whining, misbehaving or complaining). I was very excited and took two full weeks off (out of only three im allowed a year). I even pre-booked my shore excursions and a spa package. However, my time on board was anything but amazing. If it was not for the amazing time on land, my vacation would have been completely ruined instead of mostly ruined. If it was just one or two things, it would not have been a big deal. However, the following list is too long to be just me (which was confirmed when I talked with many of the other guests). However, this is my account and I can not speak for anyone else. My issues we as follows: 1. I thought there would be very few kids but I guess with the 4th holiday, there are quite a few. in fact, had a family with three kids on my 8hr shore excursion that ruined it for me by the constantly whining and talking and complaining and what not; could barely hear the tour guides interesting facts most of time. The cruise line really should warn people if kids are on that particular shore excursion. upon complaining, they blew me off saying sorry, nothing we could do. asked for a refund stating i didn't get what i paid for/didnt enjoy it, they said they couldnt but i could write it and maybe they could submit it for evaluation. 2. I've noticed that they treat groups way better than solo travelers. 3. They cancelled my 1st shore excursion without even telling me. I only found out when I went down to ask for my ticket. 4. I pre-booked a spa package and they seemed to have no idea what it was and gave me the run around for the first two days (despite me asking to book it on July 7th: 1st day at sea). Then when they finally got everything straightened out, that day was already booked- had to chose a different day (second to last day was all they had left). 5. On my day in at guernsey, I arrived at the port for the tender to take me back to the ship with plenty of time to spare. There was a long line, no big deal because I was told it would move quickly. It took 3 hours to get back onto the ship. No one kept us up to date and they only started giving out water at the end. By that time, I was already sunburned and very dehydrated (did not have any alcohol at all) and was becoming symptomatic. I almost had to go to onboard doctor just to get IV hydration but luckily was ok after chugging A LOT of water into the next morning (had splitting headache until about 430am local time). I understand they can not control how rough the sea is but someone should have kept us informed and started giving us water way sooner. 6. The food onboard is horrible and/or cold most of the time. The breakfast also has the same things everyday- quite disappointing. The bread on dinner table is always so hard. - I lost a total of 5 pounds in my vacation. I was 181.8lbs the morning I left for vacation and was 176.6 lbs when I got back (which considering i was on day 1 of my period and bloated, probably had lost more than that actually) 7. I pre-ordered the unlimited soda and more package because they said they have variety of coke products. However, they only have coke, diet coke and sprite- none of which I drink. it was false advertising in my opinion because it sounded like they had a good variety and they don't. So, more money wasted. -They also informed me that even though I have the unlimited soda and more, I cant have can soda, only fountain soda- which is always flat (my receipt I printed did not say only fountain, had no * or any other indications that it was fountain only. However, once on board that was when they said it was). I was also not allowed a refund of that either. 8. The bed was barely ok (lumpy), everything else was not. The tv sound kept cutting in and out despite what level I put volume on. 9. The bathroom is ridiculously small. The shower was so small that any time I moved my arms even slightly away from my body, it went out of shower. im tall and slim- so that is ridiculous. 10. The crew on the ship are mostly useless. If you ask a simple question (like if the outlets are ok for USA plugs or if I need my adapter, no one seemed to know). Most ignored me and instead chatted with their coworkers. If I interrupted, I wad given a dirty look. 11. I got so tired of complaining and only hearing "sorry but nothing we can do." I even tried calling but no success. On several occasions I was placed on hold and then hung up on and/or it timed out. its ridiculous. room service did the same thing to me. 12.The air in the room. I put it at the coldest setting and it was still quite warm. 13. There are quite a few cracked tiles on the floor of my bathroom (which I know does not interfere with function but still). 14. It is also almost impossible to get cold water in the shower. Sometimes the water is so scalding hot that I had to leave the water on for quite awhile just to cool down. I talked to another couple at shared dining who had same problem. They called and no one came. So after an hour, they called again and still no one came. Then after another hour they went down and got the plumber to come up. It shouldn't be that hard. 15. According to their online info, I should have had a bottle water in my room- there wasn't. 16. The fridge wasn't cold and there is nothing inside (no bottle water in there either). 17. when I was in the dining room and decided to eat alone, it was like they forget about me. I see couples usually get their food within about 15 minutes on average. However, mine was about 30 minutes (for same dish). -it took 1.5 hours to complete my meal in Italian restaurant (with just me). 18. I also find it quite ridiculous that as much as I paid for the cruise (single people/travelers have to pay more), I also had to pay a $25-30 cover charge for most food places. I wouldn't even eat that much worth of food. It would be more understandable to pay for meal than that! -I will admit the only decent food I did eat was in the italian restaurant. That being said, couldn't make any changes to items on menu because they are "pre-made already". The soup I ordered with mushrooms had two very thinly sliced half mushroom pieces (probably equaled about 1/10 of one mushroom. When I looked at the table next to me when theirs was brought over, it was very obvious that they both had a lot of mushrooms in their bowls). The seafood pasta had two shrimp, a bunch of clam shells but only one small clam. 19. Constantly changing water temperature while in the shower. 20. The onboard entertainment was a joke and bad. 21. There was an "unhosted singles and solo traveler" event onboard which was also a joke. Next to no one there and no actual activity other than sitting at bar with handful of people drinking. 22. They don't update onboard account very often (today july 5, last updated 2nd). 23. There was speakers in the room and bathroom for overhead announcements but could not hear anything on them. I had to go out into hallway or main area to hear it. 24. The orange juice very water down. 25. Even when I was told the egg whites are completely cooked, I cut them open to find runny egg whites every time. 26. To be able to enjoy a relaxing adult only area, I had to pay a fee. each time 27. I went to 4 different bar locations to try to get a fountain coke before morning tours and they were all closed. every time. 28. As far as the internet I bought and paid for on board. It would say I was connected. It would take my minutes. However, whenever I brought open something (internet browser, messenger or even facebook) they all said I was not connected. 29. The photo guy came into Italian restaurant on my birthday (I was wearing my birthday tiara) and offered to take pictures of every other guest but me (I was eating alone). 30. I tried to buy something. The lady walked away as I went up to the register. I waited almost 4 minutes before I gave up (so I pulled out a piece of paper, wrote "congrats! you just missed a sale") and walked away. 31. I went into vines (general store). I wondered about an item so I asked the store clerk in clear voice my question. He turned around and went over to a lady on opposite side of store who had just walked in, picked up a flyer and started asking about if she has tried it. The lady hadnt even asked for him or acknowledge that she needed help. 32. It was suppose to be smoke free in the ship. I saw people smoking in casino in non smoking part. I also could smell the smoke from cigarettes near my room more often than not. 33. When ordering room service, they wouldn't bring me soda of any kind despite having the package. 34. I went to get an ice cream cone. I finally get to front and was told I would have to get it in a bowl (they could put cone on top if I liked- guess the soft serve was too soft?). 35. They were ok with knocking on my door when they needed something (passport or turn down). However, my pamper me package didn't get delivered to my room until 7-8-15). I only had one message to let me know. 36. I was at steamers seafood for dinner (alone). The waitress brought bread to my table, I told her I was ready to order. She said ok, turned around and went to the table with a couple to wait on them first. -Also, the fish was so mushy it was not edible. I also got slightly sick from eating that food. the rest of the seafood was so bland. 37. I was told there was no avocado at all on board (wanted to make an omelette with avocado on top). Then at steamers, one of my meals had avocado in it. 38. south queensferry-I was waiting to disembark for shore excursion extra 40 minutes. No one told us why. I finally went to talk re:concerns about my tour that afternoon. Then they told us there was medical disembark and that was hold up. -my morning tour was shorted by 30 minutes. Which meant that instead of 45 minutes in the castle, I only had about 10-15 to get through entire castle, church and gardens, which ruined the experience. I tried again to complain and get a partial refund but did not receive anything for any of the ruined trips. 39. I went to a second unhosted single/solo traveler get together. I was the only person to show up. The bar was completely empty except the staff and I. They were standing around chatting and laughing. When a waiter finally came over, I asked for water. He walked the 7-10 steps back to bar. After 6 minutes waiting for my water and still not getting it, I got up and walked out. 40. A kid was running down narrow hallway, getting in peoples way and parents watched him. 41. I paid for a 50 minute massage. I figured the other 10 minutes of the hour were for changing. I showed up 15 minutes early per the spa recommendation. The massage started at 803am and she stopped at 845a. That definitely was not a full 50 minutes. I also asked not to touch my feet because im very ticklish- she did. I asked no oil in my hair- she did some. 42. They do have a laundromat on the floor (3 machines) but have to pay to use them and pay for detergent if didnt bring own. 43. In beginning of cruise, I was told I had to buy ticket to get off boat if I just wanted to explore on own. Then towards the end, someone else said that wasnt true at all. 44. The water pressure in bathroom sink is barely there/non existent. 45. The bus driver in France was constantly on his cell while driving. I even took a picture. everyone knows that isn't safe and yet princess is apparently ok with it. luckily we didn't have an accident but again- shouldn't have occurred. 46. When they did have lobster for dinner (in regular dining area), it was tasteless and not good at all. If that would have been my first time having lobster, I would never eat it again. 47. I decided to do the shore excursion to the palace of versailles, which included the gardens and lunch. However, that is grossly overstated. It was really a walk through the gardens to lunch. Then, after I had already taken a seat at lunch, I was asked to move so that a group on the tour could sit there since I came by myself. Apparently, it is ok for me to fill a seat by itself but splitting a group is unthinkable. 48. In the dining room final night of dinner, I actually saw them pre-set a table with a huge gorgeous bowl of salad, different appetizers, bread, etc. before the people even showed up. Yet it took them quite awhile to even get me seated/get me shrimp cocktail. Then, when I asked for a refill on my coke, they seemed surprised. Yet that other table had all their drinks (including specialty alcohol drinks) within 60 seconds of sitting down. 49. I called front desk to see if they have a scale so I can weigh my luggage, they said they do and can have someone up in 15 minutes. After 30 minutes, no one had come up. I called and they said someone should be up soon. Another 30 minutes go by and still no one. So, I called again and got the same line, someone should be up soon. After two hours of waiting since I first called, I called again begging to send anyone who could please just weigh my bag so I can go to sleep and get off the ship first thing. I also said that me having to wait for two hours ruined any chance of going out and trying to enjoy the last night on the ship. Again, I was told someone would be right up. It took them another 27 minutes (thats a total of 2hr 27min). From the time he knocked on my door to the time he was done weighing my one bag was about 45 seconds btw 50. The day to go back to airport. I was finally off ship. I was about to get on bus. I saw other people allowed to take their suitcase on the bus. So, I told the bus driver I want to take mine on board as well and I was denied because it was too big. The bus was less than half filled. No one sat next to me. There was plenty of room. 51. The breakfast the last morning. I saw a worker sneeze into his hands, not wash them and continued messing with food at buffet. I stopped eating. I still got sick. 52. I was told my bottle of whisky would be in my room by the time I returned from my trip in France but it wasn't. I went back to front desk, they got ahold of the person and said they would be on their way. I went back to room. After 20 minutes, I got a call saying it would be awhile before he could get back to my room. I wanted to go eat dinner (was about 730pm by this point), he said to go ahead and would leave it just inside my door. 53. Following the cruise, I went online to submit my concerns to receive a refund for being treated so badly that I ended up crying myself to sleep more than once. The website only allows 3000 characters max. After 15 submissions- it would not let me do anymore. The automatic email I received said someone would contact me within 2-3 business days. It took over a week to get a call (went to voicemail because I was at work helping my patients). I called backed and the person was unavailable. I tried the next day, still not available. Called monday, her voice mail stated she took day off. When I called main number and asked if there was anyone else that could possibly help me, I was told no, the only person who was allow to authorize a refund was her. So, I left another voicemail. Then today (a week and a half later), she called and left me a voice mail. I called back and left voicemail. Then she called back and finally spoke with me. She stated that my file was reviewed and they could only offer me a $500 credit toward future cruise. I asked her why would I want to be treated badly again? All I wanted was refund. She said she couldnt. I asked her if there was someone else I could talk to- she said my file was already reviewed and this was all they will offer to me. So please, save your money and go somewhere else. Also, please forward this to others so that they wont be treated badly. People should be made aware of what really happens. Thank you Read Less

After 22 cruises we've never disliked a cruise or a Cruise Line ever, until now with Princess. We are also very aware not every cruise is perfect, but this should never happen... We've never felt UNSAFE on a cruise before this one. I urge you to do your research on this ship and also this Cruise Line. It seems very poorly managed and the guests are not treated with care like other Cruise Lines offer. We've sailed on most all the major cruise lines and I can assure you there is a big difference when you sail on any of the other lines. Again, from time to time every cruise has it's problems but Princess didn't pay attention to the problems or the needs and safety of their guests. From engine problems to endangering us and injuring passengers on a Port Tender (this was a major issue for many guests that shouldn't have happened), leaky plumbing that stunk in the hallways and guest rooms, broken washing machines, unorganized, uninformed Excursion desk employees that caused us to miss our excursions twice, broken-down Excursion bus, rude staff, over-cooked unimaginative MDR food, and boring amateur entertainment. We spent $1000's of dollars and 2 weeks of our lives for this? Somehow, Princess thinks this is ok. No matter who's at fault you're not getting a dime back! We feel ripped-off! I chose this cruise because it was to be with family - 9 of us altogether to enjoy the trip around the British Isles. I had been on Princess ships on 13 previous occasions. All seemed to go fairly well at the start - embarkation. We had visited Guernsey, Cobh (for Cork) Dublin, , Belfast, and Glasgow when the captain announced that due to a storm potential at Kirkwall in the Orkney Isles- so he said a nasty storm was predicted - we would bypass this port, and eventually we would go to Invergordon in the afternoon of that day. He said - "he shared in our disappointment". This was to be a significant port, and as it turned out the weather forecast was poor - we could have gone there.. Several days at sea, and half day at Invergordon - nothing there to do!!. At Edinburgh we were delayed by waves and wind such that tendering to a wharf was delayed for most people until noon giving us 4 hours to see Edinburgh - no flexibility - the port authority would not extend times. They couldn't or wouldn't(?) tie up at Leith pier for whatever reason. So 2 significant ports were missed due to incompetence - my opinion. No compensation- no nothing!! Princess HQ say they can do nothing about any of this. Princess has become a penny-pinching operation over the last year, what with coffee cards not fully re-usable on a different cruise, to charging for burgers, specialty dining which is way below even the buffet, shutting down dining options early, and reneging on contracts to give credit for specialty dining. I would skip the option to take this cruise, and also the ship!! Read Less

I have been cruising for 30 years and this was by far the worst cruise I ever took. The food was awful and the staff behind the purser's desk needed lessons in the treatment of paying guests. They were sarcastic and rude. They promised things that were never delivered. The cash exchange machines were empty half the time and we were constantly told to come back in an hour. My toilet overflowed and they had the nerve to blame me for it! All in all, it was an awful experience. The customer service staff couldn't care less about my concerns. They promised me a bottle of wine which I never received. When my toilet overflowed they couldn't find the plumber. When he finally appeared they had the nerve to blame me for their non-functioning equipment. This was rude and definitely not the way to treat a full-paying passenger. The choice and quality of the food was awful. This was not a good cruise experience. I have thirty years of cruising to base my opinions on and as far as I am concerned Princess has gone downhill very rapidly since Carnival bought them. Read Less

Area was incredible scenery and history. Loved the itinerary The buffet dining always had the same exact menus on each side. The quality and variety of food selections was lacking. The main dining rooms also had the same food choices. We had anytime dining, and often had a wait time to get seated. We ate in the Crown dining room 3 times. The food in the Crown was excellent, but we were asked at least 3 times for a drink order. The staff could not locate our bottle of wine from the previous meal, even thou we told them it was stored at the Crown room. The staff seemed poorly trained in listening skills. We took a Princess tour in Invigoration. While the scenery was fantastic, the tour guide would not turn on the air conditioning. By the time the tour was concluded, everyone on the bus was well-done due to heat exhaustion. Read Less

After my experience with Princess Cruise line Customer Service, I have decided not to do cruises anymore. I booked this cruise to see Kirkwall in the Orkney Islands. They decided to not to dock there, and the Captains, 'oh well, we'll just have another lovely day at sea.' I took it up with Princess on board, and then after making a formal complaint after I got home, I got a call from someone who just didn't care that I'd spent so much money to fly to London, and get the cruise. Princess Customer Service is NO service. On this ship there are very little places to sit and read or play games, and their rating of "easy, moderate or strenuous " for the excursions are incorrect. I'm an unhappy Cruise passenger, and I won't return to Princess; and frankly I'm no longer inclined to Cruises. I've been on Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian Cruise Lines. I'd rather go somewhere and get a private guide, or take tours. Princess does not allow enough time in ports. The cabin was inadequate, the dining was OK, but not great. The Entertainment was sad. The service from staff, our room attendant, and waitstaff was fine, but the ship officers were not helpful. The Ports in Ireland are lacking, and the ships have so many people to run thru each main attraction, that you are shorted on what you go to see. I loved Scotland, and I plan to go back there on my own to see Kirkwall and other neolithic sites. The ships overview and information on what is available at each port is inadequate. We hired a private chauffeur to drive us to see things and were much happier than taking ship excursions. If you love sitting on a ship, then cruising is for you. If you want to experience the actual port, then I would suggest travel without cruising. Read Less

We have been on over 30 cruises and are Platinum on Princess In November 2016 we contacted Princess and explained that my wife had recently been diagnosed with Gluten Ataxia, (a rare form of Coeliac Disease where gluten attacks her brain) and that I was gluten intolerant. He assured us that Princess Cruises could provide us with a variety of good quality gluten free food providing we gave them the required notice which we did. Breakfast At breakfast in the dining room we were told there was only one type of gluten free bread and cereal. The rice bread did not toast very well. The cereal was corn flakes but they were sweet and tasteless.. The gluten free muffins were hard and had a horrible taste. Incidentally we also tried the gluten free scones available at afternoon tea which were hard, dry and tasteless so between the scones, bread and muffin afternoon tea was not an option available to us either. We were very upset by the attitude of a small minority of the waiters towards us. One particular waiter offered us pastries on the first morning and pressed us when we said no thank you so we told him we were gluten free. He shouted to all the other waiters, whilst pointing at us, that we were gluten free. Obviously other passengers looked at us. Quite honestly we felt embarrassed and humiliated. The requirements of other guests such as diabetics were not shouted out and they were not pointed at. After we complained about this he still came to our table every morning and said that he did not need to offer us pastries now that he knew we were gluten free so would not disturb us. We felt this was completely unnecessary and that he was being sarcastic Buffet We were advised to avoid the buffet because of the risk of cross contamination and on two occasions I saw food containing gluten in the gluten free desert section. When the ship was in port the only food available was in the buffet. We asked various chefs/staff what food was gluten free and got mixed messages, one person saying something was OK whilst another person said it contained gluten. The only safe items were jacket potatoes, some meat on the carvery but none of the sauces. We usually had the same lunch on port days. The desert section usually only had two options jelly/tapioca or crumble. Even the sous chefs, whilst they tried to be helpful, didn’t appear to understand the risk of cross contamination by other passengers with tongs and spillages. Main Dining On day one the only gluten free food available was fish. It had been overcooked. The head waiter took our order for the next day, again main dishes were limited. We were told that we could NOT choose a desert as these were specially made each day by the chef for passengers on special diets. At dinner we were seated at a table for nine which was a tight squeeze and ordering took a long time. On the first two nights my wife ordered fish but it had been kept hot and was tasteless and nothing was said even though my wife didn’t eat much of it. We complained in writing about the food. We spoke to the Maître d’ about the lack of deserts and the waiting staff at breakfast. He said he would send out an email to the We were moved to a smaller table but problems continued as some courses arrived at different times to others on the table and some items such as gluten free crab cakes were inedible. We had to complain before we were offered a desert choice. One night my wife was served a dish containing pasta which was not gluten free. Some things did improve slightly after we moved tables as we got carrot cake for desert thanks to Roberto along with chocolates and biscuits all on the same night! STEAMERS SPECIALITY DINING - we decided to go to Steamers, after speaking to Claudio the Assistant Maître d’ who escorted us to our table. After 10 minutes the chef told us he did not think he could prepare any gluten free dishes because of the danger of cross contamination in his small galley and it was arranged we could go to Freedom Dining. Once there we waited 45 minutes for our starter but 20 minutes later we were told the rest of our special pre-order had been lost. The waiter said he did not know what to do next so we left. There was almost nothing we could have in the buffet but we tried a jacket potato and some beef both of which were unacceptable, cold potato and tough beef. As a consequence we had some snacks we had brought on board plus fruit from the buffet in our cabin. To say we were upset would be putting it mildly. Most nights we were given a jelly/tapioca type desert. The one on the last night was plain tapioca with 2 berries and a strawberry slice made into a smiley face (see attached photo) which just added insult to injury. We complained to Roberto Roberto lost his temper shouting ‘I have allergies too but I never mention them’ He also said there was nothing he could do other than relay our comments to the chef Summary We were very disappointed and upset by these events which spoiled our holiday. We paid a lot of money for it and expected to be treated the same as all the other guests which did not happen. There was a diabetic on our table at dinner and his special diet was handled sensitively and with no fuss. We felt we were seen as a nuisance and quite honestly sometimes we were just very hungry. We were totally reliant on Princess for food during our holiday as it is not easy to find gluten free food immediately on arrival in other countries. Read Less

What appeared to be a good choice of varied destinations turned out to be a damp squib. Having just been refitted we were surprised that it did not look bright and new! Embarkation and cabin, when found as not shown on ship signage, was up to standard. The bed and bed linen were exceptional. Layout of ship was as per usual with Princess. Dining in the main dining rooms was Anytime which we much prefer. Buffet was well attended but limited options (food allergy). We were amazed that there was no insistence on cleaning hands before going in to any of the dining areas. Main dining areas were clean and staff were efficient. Maitre d' went out of his way to track me down to provide next day menus because of food allergy. The entertainment was very poor as were the on-board activities and lectures. The Staff in general seemed lacking in experience and knowledge. When asked questions they did not know answers and did not volunteer to find out and get back to us. Apart from in Rotterdam, any shuttles to and from ports were charged at a high rate and many were per return trip, not all day. We were captive in Zeebrugge unless we paid for a taxi or shuttle - other cruise lines were offering a complimentary service. Through no fault of Princess we lost the call to Le Havre. They therefore extended the length of time in Zeebrugge but not the shuttle time originally scheduled which meant that any trips of distance could not be undertaken. Even though we were not departing until 9 am the following morning everyone had to be on board by 11.30 pm (shuttles finished at 4 pm) although this was extended to 6 pm (only found out on return at 4 pm!!!) The excursion we were able to take was very informative and well organised. After a fairly bland cruise (thank goodness we like reading and had brought sufficient reading material) we encountered major problems with the collection of our suitcases. After putting them outside our room we had to make several phone calls to customer services during the small hours (and later not so small hours) before they were eventually collected. This might be because our cabin did not appear on the signs and was hidden round the corner. Disembarkation was very smooth - in fact we had no time to enjoy the priority lounge available to platinum level and above. If we had not already booked another cruise (prior to starting this one) we might have thought twice about Princess cruises in general. Overall decent cruise destinations but everything else left a LOT to be desired. We spoke to others on the cruise and we did not find anyone who had good things to say about it. First time cruisers with Princess said they would not cruise again with them. It seems that Princess are relying on past glories. Let's hope the next cruise is up to past standards. Read Less

This review is on the cruise itself and not the ports. I have been on many cruises and this was the worst ever. We know that princess caters to the older crowd but with 4 days at sea on Thanksgiving week you would think that there would be one activity by the pool for those of us not in retirement age? Nope, It was very obvious that they did this to discourage people from being at the pool and so they would be inside spending money on the stores, casino and art auction. There was no music at the pools and they were intentionally not heated for this purpose. When you walked around the ship the only lively venues were the casino and art auction. They push the shopping so much it was part of the variety show. The variety show was a music number, the shopping director and a bad comedian making racist jokes about Filipino cabin stewards. I have never seen such a thing. No music is playing at any of the bars, crazy. Our room steward wouldn't come half the time when paged and when he did he always reminded us that his shift was ending soon. Not good. We also had poor service in the restaurants, getting cut by guest because they spoke the same language as the head waiter. When my husband spoke up the hostess acted guilty and scrambled to get us a table. I spoke to the guest services and went up three levels of management and all I received was a cheap bottle of wine that I had to approve before receiving, if I didn't they weren't even going to send that!! If you have a problem with a guest send up a bottle of champagne ASAP. So incredibly tacky. I felt like my intelligence was insulted multiple times and was shown that they don't value my business. The ship was nice enough. The food was mediocre at best, except in the restaurants that charged extra. There were very few activities by comparison to other cruises I've been on. If you didn't want to gamble, you had very few decent choices. Princess used to have Scholars at Sea, which was very interesting. The entertainment was fair. They had pretty good singers, but the shows themselves were not all that interesting. The cabin itself was okay, but this particular cabin had an almost totally obstructed balcony. The casino was the biggest rip-off ever! You could lose your money in a few minutes, with very few payouts that were of any consequence at all. It's also a very small casino, too small for the 200+ casino VIPs. I have been on many Princess cruises and have been very loyal to them in the past, but I won't go on another one. Read Less

It was an absolutely terrible experience. This is not a knock on the crew, they were fabulous. The cruise line's policies and actions towards guests is deplorable. My cabin was on the lowest deck, just above the ship's cargo hold. The crew was excellent at making a lot of noise during sleep hours. When the door was opened to allow the harbor pilot to board the ship, the noise was totally out of control. This was not restful at 0600. The cruise line's policy on wifi is atrocious. No complete package for continuous usage. There are no wine packages, although the wine is fairly prices. Their drink packages are outragesous, $56 per day, plus gratuit, and then only up to a preset value. Their customer service department in California only offered the words, "sorry" and then said that they weren't the cruise line for us. Complete indifference. Lastly, the ship was in sorry shape, lots of rust and pieces missing along the rails the entire voyage. Read Less
