A Return to the South Pacific

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Sapphire Princess

This was our 30th Cruise and 7th on Princess, which has become one of our two preferred Cruise lines along with Celebrity. This was by far our longest Cruise to date at 28 days including 18 Sea Days, which we enjoy, including 8 in a row from Tahiti back to LA. We have done a number of 14 day cruises and also have done 7 Sea Days in a row in the past. We had sailed around French Polynesia on the ...

My husband and I have cruised with Princess 6 times - twice on the Sapphire. HOTEL: We drove to Long Beach and stayed at the DoubleTree on Cabrillo. There is no extra charge for cruise parking. One is simply asked not to park in any of the parking spots marked "hotel parking". An exceptional value and a very nice facility. SHIP: We liked the ship - love the layout. So nice that the newer ships ...

Super long and boring cruise

It was very long - 28 days. And, the list of activities was really paltry, unless you're into: Morning Stretch Class, Knitters & Knatters, Suspension Training, Zumba, Sudoku, Table Tennis, WII bowling, Bridge Lectures, Amateur Magicians training, Buying & using makeup, Chinese Herbal medicines, Ballroom for beginners, Scattergories (don't even ask), Shuffleboard, Golf ...

Lots'a SEA DAYS !

And we love sea days....after the evening show when the Cruise Director announced the events for the next and said...SEA DAY...the audience cheered.... Guess we fit in! As usual, we do enjoy our time spent on Princess cruises, this being no exception. Our weather was quite good throughout, there was minimum problem with 'rocking of the ship'. Dining be a highlight of cruising, I'll start here. ...

South Pacific - LA - 28 day - Sapphire Princess

Most people were between 70-95, about 15 kids, maybe a dozen adults below 40, a skattering of adults between 40-60. Polite people, lots of wheel chairs, walkers, and canes. Quiet. Cruise director and staff were excellent for all ages!! Shows and performances were all very good! Lots of interesting lectures ahead of visiting many South Pacific places. The gym was surprisingly crowded all the time - ...

Lots of plusses, few minuses

I have sailed on three of the Princess ships now and the Sapphire is the largest so far. My stateroom was in the front quarter of the ship and the dinning room was at the stern so I had to walk three footballs in length to get to supper! And you can't get there from here either. It turned out that the best way to get there was go walk the length of the ship to the aft elevators to get down to the ...

Hawaii & South Pacific cruise

This was a retirement present to myself...28 day cruise to Hawaii, Samoa, and French Polynesia. Spent a pre-night at the LAX Marriott (Princess preferred hotel) that included transportation to the ship. For some reason we had a 2 hour delay leaving for the ship and no explanation was given by the Princess reps. Once we reached San Pedro, the driver had no clue how to get to the ship! We drove ...

California Coastal-a Relaxing Week!

Review for a U.S.A. Cruise on Sapphire Princess

The Sapphire Princess presents a great way to cruise the west coast. A nice 7 day trip to SF. Santa Barbara, San Diego, Ensenada. The Sapphire is a beautiful ship that although carries a large amount of passengers we never felt cramped at all. Utilizing "anytime dining", we never waited longer than 10 mins (only that long once!) for a table. They seemed to be very relaxed on bringing your own wine ...

Very Enjoyable

Review for a U.S.A. Cruise on Sapphire Princess

First Time Cruiser • Age 60s

My wife and I decided to take the Wine Country Coastal about 2 weeks before sailing. We decided to take an ocean view obstructed on Emerald deck. The price was irresistable compared to the balconies which were almost sold out except for the most expensive ones. Given that this cruise was not in warm weather for a lot of the sail, we felt happy with our choice. As it turned out, the view was not ...

Disappointing experience

Review for a U.S.A. Cruise on Sapphire Princess

We have done over 12 cruises in various parts of the world, and this cruise was not our favorite. Our travel to the ship was uneventful, as our son dropped us off at San Pedro Pier. The embarkation was smooth and quick. There were no long lines, and we were well received. Our Stateroom was another story. The day we arrived, our A/C was working. But for the rest of our cruise, we coudn't get the ...
