For the most part, liked the remodeling, especially the closet - more room and ease of unpacking. Did not like losing the hand held shower nozzle though in the tiny shower. Found the food less enjoyable - seemed like too much mushy stuff - though there were a few good nights with prime rib and lobster.
Cannot complain about service. Excursions were ok but quite expensive. Drink prices ...
In Mandarin slang, ma ma hu hu means so so, not very good, or a bit of a mess. This cruise surely met that kind of definition. It ranks in the bottom five of the 40+ cruises we've taken.
We joined the ship in Tianjin (aka the middle of nowhere, at least for now), exhausted and suffering from chest colds, after an outstanding eight-day pre-cruise tour in China. As with most pre-cruise tours ...
I'd like to add a voice of agreement with the negative critique entitled "Ma ma hu hu" posted April 2015. My husband and I also were on the same cruise, and it really was a major disappointment from our past experiences with Princess. We had the same experience and opinions as stated in "Ma ma hu hu" as it relates to service, itinerary, excursions, Hong Kong Terminal and especially the Buffet ...
For our honeymoon we decided to get a glimpse of another part of the world with the comfort of a cruise. Princess had both the itinerary and timing right.
The ship came directly from 10 days in dry-dock but not a word was mentioned about any improvements. It did however look to be in very good condition. From talking to the crew we understood that during dry dock the casino had been completely ...
Travelled on this ship when it was fresh out of dock after an overhaul. So don't worry about the worn carpets that are mentioned in another review because most of them have been replaced.
Food and service were great, with special thanks to Phillipe and Adriana, the Restaurant Managers in the Santa Fe and International Dining Rooms who made us most welcome every day. Only problem was with the ...
Travelled from Singapore on Sapphire Princess. First time on Princess, but have made 10 or so cruises on different cruise lines.
NIce ship, food excellent, itinerary perfect, entertainment could have been better, but this is not the reason for writing.
Booked several excursions with Princess, since we chose the itinerary for the ports of call in Asia, a one off experience.
In Shanghai we ...
Overall we did enjoy our cruise on this huge ship. On the positive side the meals were always good and the staff were mostly attentive and made us very welcome. However we did notice that although hand sanitisers were in place at the entrances to all the restaurants there were no staff monitoring the use of them. Many of the guests went through without using them.
The other thing we noticed ...
Let me start by saying that the Sapphire Princess is one great ship, in fact one of the nicest ships afloat, given its size. The carpet was a little tired as were a few of the other public areas on board, but it was going in for a minor refit to freshen up these areas.
Overall, a great design that caters for many tastes, 5 dining rooms with 3 offering anytime dining allowing for relatively ...
Boarding onto the Sapphire Princess in Singapore was very quick and trouble free, and we were into our stateroom within 25mins after filling out the required immigration documents. Our cabin was very comfortable, clean, and easy to move around in.
The Sapphire Princess is much larger than our favourite Dawn Princess, and it took us more than a couple of days to get our bearings on this much ...
This is our 2nd cruise with Princess and we have done cruises with P&O, Royal Carribean, first the positives, Cabin Steward was amazing, our sheets changed and cabin spotless. Tender service was one of the best we have experienced. Evening meals were good and service in the Santa Fe was great. We experienced great service from all staff on board.
Ports of call were great, but couple of long ...
