NCL Spirit is lovely but a little on the old side when compared with newer ships. We sailed on her last year and enjoyed it then too so unless you are looking for a new megaship then the Spirit is fine.
The crew and staff were excellent, the best we have encountered on a cruise. Food was great but we did dine a lot in the specialty restaurants as opposed to the buffet and main dining.
We had ...
I had specialty dining every night = makes a huge difference will food rating! Overall, small ship with great bones. Embarkation/disembark was absolutely the best ever (and I have cruised over 20 times) as it was the only ship in Barcelona which may have helped. On the tours, the guides told us it was the coldest/rainiest times they had seen but Canary's are known for perpetual Spring so not ...
This was our first cruise with NCL having previously cruised 27 times mainly with RCI and Celebrity. We chose this for the intinerery , price and the date.
The Spirit is an old ship and it shows in many places . We had an outside picture window on deck 5 midship which was small but good enough. We bid for a balcony but where not successful, having talked to other people who got the upgrade ...
I looked for a cruise on a smaller ship going to an area where I had hope for some warm weather and it needed to include my 80th birthday. The Norwegian spirit leaving Barcelona on February 3 seemed to feel the bill! My daughter and I booked the cruise and over all it was wonderful primarily due to the fantastic crew!
I had mixed reactions to the cruise it’s self, but much had to do with ...
We are frequent cruisers and wanted a filler cruise between our P & O cruises in Oct/Nov 2017 and Apr/May 2018, also we hoped to get away from grey February skies. This clearly isn't NCL's fault but the weather was dreadful, cool and grey except in Madiera and to a lesser extent Malaga.
Things didn't get off to a good start when we arrived at Barcelona Airport. There was just one person ...
My mother wanted to do something very special for her 80th birthday And, NCL Barcelona, Morocco, Canary Islands, Portugal and back to Barcelona fit the bill.
This was my first NCL cruise. The Spirit is like a stately mid-older woman. You can see the beauty of her youth through her age.
Our cabin was small but functional. The housekeeping staff was more than exceptional. Clifford, went out ...
We had never sailed with NCL and saw this cruise from Barcelona which included a drinks package. Never had one of those either but we soon got into the swing of things, too much gin !
We stayed in Barcelona for 2 days prior to sailing and it was raing when we arrived, this set the tone of things for the whole holiday.
We had two sunny days, Madeira and Malaga, the rest were cold and ...
I am a solo traveler, mid 50s female, experienced cruiser and past crew member. I choose this cruise due to the very port intensive itinerary, and they were amazing. Casablanca was replaced with Tangiers, supposedly due to winds...however, this was announced five days in advance, and was again for the next cruise..so I don't know. Tangiers was amazing, loved it. Funchal was skipped due to high ...
Last December 2016 we sailed the Spirit. During the cruise we had concerns which was not addressed on the ship...missed ports charges not refunded, bad bed, cabin ...etc but NCL HO had offered OBC if we would give them a second chance.
We wanted to get away in January and decided to give NCL another chance.
When we booked a guaranteed inside cabin, NCL assigned the cabin 2 days after ...
IT didn’t actually snow in Tangier.
But with trees ferociously bent in the howling wind and people scurrying back to the ship within minutes, sometimes seconds, of disembarking it made us wonder what on earth the weather was like in Casablanca.
After all the Norwegian Cruise Line Spirit team had made a late, late decision to give the scheduled stop of Casablanca a miss “because of adverse ...
