Seven six day cruise from Tampa - Grand Cayman - Roatan - Beleize - Cozumel - Tampa This rust bucket of a boat shout be taken to the Mariana Trench and scuttled along with the crew. I have never had a more miserable disgusting experience in my entire life. But then again if you want a truly horrible experience with nasty crew, slop for food (brought some home for the dogs - they declined to eat it), a cess pool of bacteria in your cabin, fighting every day to try and get some miserable scraps to eat and being treated like a child, herded like sheep, talked down to and treated like a second class citizen, then this is the cruise for you. Carnival - what a joke - are you guys serious. Our cruise got cut a day short due to weather conditions that never materialized. Not only did they have the audacity to cancel for reasons still oblivious to the some 2000 poor souls on board, but you also had the deceitfulness to try and tell us that it was for our own safety - Answer 1 simple question - How is dumping 2000 people in a port with no available hotels, flights all booked up, gas stations running out of gas and in the path of a hurricane, safe???? At this time we where 1500 miles away from the hurricane and heading to Cozumel. No - here's an idea, lets steam into Tampa, ruin everyone's cruise, keep everyone on board like prisoners for several hours at the dock and then rush them off and tell them it's their fault. Hurry and get the next passengers on board and steam right back to where we started. That way we can make more money - That's what it's about - The money. Maybe we weren't spending enough or running out, so you thought the next cruise would have fuller wallets. The captain and his cronies decided to have a Q & A session in the Phantom Theatre to sell this idea and avoid a mutiny. Lots of Q's and very little A's. Now there's a surprise. Where did they dig this captain up from? Davy Jones' Locker maybe? Personally I think he was the guy at the ice cream stand in Belize who was coshed on the back of the head and press ganged into joining Carnival 50 years ago. Is keel-hauling still done today? - I think I know candidate. Well at least that gave the Captain and his cronies the excuse to run and hide and never be seen for the next 2 days. Did they help anybody make arrangements - Offer free 'wifi' for people to make arrangements or provide any form of assurance - I'll tell you tomorrow - at least that's what they said... And as for the cruise director, he needs to go back to HSN at a 2.00am in the morning slot selling kitchenware to anyone who is drunk enough to use their credit card (Boop). Guest Services (Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter Here) - Are you rude, obnoxious, un-empathetic, love blaming others and offer no assistance to anyone apart from using the all too familiar Carnival line, "It's your own fault", then get a job here. You will fit in perfectly. Personally I wouldn't allow these people to look after my cat. Still it made good entertainment. I didn't realize there were so many excuses for incompetence. Ask for Ivanka, and have the ultimate experience in Serbian Customer Service - It's a hoot. Horiatio's Lido Cafe - Yep the one arm chef put his telescope to his blind eye and declared "I see no hordes of hungry passengers" This place should be condemned. Imagine a herd of hungry bison stampeding around the deck, pushing and shoving and loading enormous amounts of food (and I use that term loosely) on their plates so they can feed their hungry offspring. That's breakfast. As soon as they dole out the slop, the unwashed masses come charging. Belize is in the top ten countries of the world for homicide and the 41% of the people live below the poverty line, and it was still a more pleasant and safer experience to eat there rather than this gutter boat. Bacchus Dining Room - OMG Looks like this place was decorated by 'Ester Extraordinaire' on crack. What a horrendous assault on the eyeballs. I had to take pictures and send them to my friends all over the world -They'll still be laughing when we have the second coming of Christ!. Look I thought, decent food, a decent menu, something that tastes better then licking the mould off my shower curtain. Unfortunately duped again. Small gelatinous cold blobs on a plate. A very long wait between blobs and the usual suspects trying to ruin a hopefully peaceful dinner by shoving overpriced alcohol shots down your throat and endless photographers trying to make a quick buck by snapping photographs every 5 minutes. Looks like it's back to Horatio's to wade among the bison and wait for a crusty pizza (again) without parmesan cheese because "We don't have any" Drinks Package - Don't bother, there's only so many ways to flavour water these days. That won't stop waiters trying to push cocktails down your throat every five minutes even when you don't drink or clearly look underage. Yes folks I seen it happen on several occasions and waiters do accept cash from teens. Entertainment - There was the sound of cats fighting with baboons in the Atrium one day - Found out this was the string section trying to hash out something that a first grade high school band could perform better. Or maybe they were practicing "Abide with me" for when the ship goes down. Cabin Staff - Don't let the maid into your cabin. By don't I mean 'barricade the door' because even when you shout, "I'm in the shower" "I'm naked" "Don't come in" several times she will still keep knocking then use her pass key to break in anyway. I swear she puts an extra layer of filth around the shower everytime she comes in. Dr Frankenstein's Nite-club - Went there once, left after the first fight/riot and decided not to come back for the rest of the entertainment. Maybe I should have stayed and placed bets. I did see a lady who resembled something like a small moose, who seemed to be winning. Would probably have had better odds than the rigged casino. High points - Getting off the boat and away from Carnival for the few hours each day that we could. Knowing that even if we built a small raft and paddled to Cuba nothing could ever be as bad as this cruise again. After all the only way from rock bottom is up. Low points - Anything to do with Carnival or the 'ship of the damned' called Miracle. Getting 2 bags destroyed by giving them to the porters, having stuff stolen from our luggage, having stuff stolen from our cabin. Being blamed for everything that was out if our control. My Advice - Stay away from Carnival. I won't hold my breath waiting for any form of compensation. This company doesn't care what happens. They only care about how much money they can fraudulently gain from your wallet without fear of repercussion or reprisal. If one person reads this and decides not to spend their hard earned money with them I will feel happy I have helped someone avoid the misery that lies before them if they sail this gutter boat with this gutter company. Some friends were going so we went on this cruise. Our trip to the West Caribbean was cut short when hurricane Dorian first formed. They informed us we were not going to Cozumel and heading back to Tampa. The only thing they did to help us make arrangements for when we got back early was make us pay for internet. So far the only thing they have refunded me is about $50 for gratuity charges. They wouldn't tell us how much or when we would be getting any more money refunded. The entertainment was very marginal in a tiny room where are there was basically standing-room-only most of the time, the waterslide didn't work and they nickel and dimes you for every little thing. The cabin was okay and I enjoy the little towel animals. The food was good and the employees were helpful and pleasant. The officers were arrogant and unhelpful after they told us they were cutting the trip short. Read Less

This was the absolute worst cruise we have ever been on. Severe lack of entertainment. Music was horrible no bands just violins an acoustic singers that were awful . Same soundtrack of 80s music throughout the entire cruise no variation . Deck party was a joke because there's no room on the deck for a party . Cruise director was not visible and engaging as on other cruises I have been the cruise director was available and around all the time it seems like. Common areas were always empty. This ship is old, dirty, and in serious need of extensive refurbishment. There was consistent problems and maintenance going on every single day which was very inconvenient. The food was very subpar. The grill food was absolutely awful I don't know what they make their hamburgers out of that they don't taste real that's for sure. Lots of kids running all over the place almost knocking people over nothing is ever said to them about it. Dining room staff sneezing into their hands and then serving food. Guest Services is useless they don't address issues when they happen and say I'm sorry. Belize is a waste of port. Nothing to do except shop, rude people, and overpriced. Ship went through some windy weather so a lot of seasick passengers, the ship rolled and slammed for three nights straight. I don't know if it's missing stabilizers or something but it should not have done that as large of a ship as it is. Fellow passengers were not very happy with this ship. The main pool was closed for 5 days out of a 7 day cruise. Kids all over the whirlpool with swim masks on and 0 supervision. Water slide is old old old and boring. I would definitely not waste my time and money on another cruise on the ship. I have been on many Carnival Cruises as well as other Cruise Lines and this was the worst. Beware of Shandy in the Anthony's Key Resort gift shop in Roatan if you go on the dolphin encounter Excursion she's very rude and condescending. However, the dolphin encounter was absolutely amazing highly recommended I just wish we had would have had extra time with the dolphins. Overall the staff was less than friendly and looked miserable. The only the enjoyable thing on this cruise were the fellow passengers. Staff: Unless they were working for extra tips at the bar or trying to sell you something, they looked and acted miserable. Some practically falling over tired. Food: Im used to military gally food, and thats what they served. And it was the same food served in all four restraunts with only the $40 steakhouse having something different. Cabin: Average size but HOT! Air conditioning was working all over the ship, but not in our room, even the minifridge quit. We tried several times to get customer service to help without success. Slept with wet towels to try and stay cool. Entertainment was more focused on gambling/sales. Comedians and trivia hosts were trying their hardest but were at it for hours and ran out of good jokes. We ended up just playing drinking card games with other guests. Services were adverage, except for the hard sell for the spa/botox. Only had ome working ellipticle. DONT pay the $60 for the VIFP upgrade. Everyone who already sailed with Carnival gets it for free. So you dont get on or off the boat early, you wait for cabin to be called like anyone else. Just another ripoff. Read Less

We drove to Tampa to visit a few favorites on the way to our Carnival Miracle cruise departing Sunday, Dec. 30th. We always arrive the day before a cruise to make certain we arrive on time. We booked a Park and Cruise hotel for the 29th, arranging for transport to the port the following morning. On the 30th, the hotel informed us that fog was delaying inbound ships, and Carnival texted us at 9:00 am confirming the situation and telling us they would provide an update at 11 am The hotel was fully booked that night and told us we had to check out by 11:00 am. since they had no restaurant in the area, and they assured us the port had several, we took their bus to the port, along with all our baggage. The port was closed. No food, water, shade, or restroom facilities, and no way to check your baggage. The 2 pm update noted that the port was closed, and asked passengers not to come. No provision was made for those of us already there After many other updates, the Miracle arrived about 7 pm, but existing passengers would need to disembark before we could begin to board. Still no food, water, or restrooms. At about 8:30, Carnival allowed us to check our baggage and enter the terminal, where we could be seated while waiting for boarding. We had booked a suite, so we had priority boarding. By 9:30 pm or so, we could finally get on the ship, although most staterooms were still not ready, and baggage had not been delivered. At least we had shade, water, food and bathrooms! Our last bag was delivered to our suite after 1:00 am on the next morning. It was 1:30 before we finished unpacking. I cannot imagine how long it would have taken our bags to arrive if we did not have priority baggage with our suite! The balance of the cruise was actually fairly nice. Weather was good. On board food was OK, although the main dining room used the same menu almost every day. The New Year's Eve balloon drop in the atrium was so crowded we did not actually see a balloon. The ship dropped anchor so far out at Belize that the tender ride was a 45 minute experience. Disembarking at other ports was much less of an issue. The comedians were actually quite good, but the Mad Hatters Ball was too small for the crowds. Go early to get a seat. Carnival gets high marks for their windows. They are abundant in public areas, as are seating arrangements. Anyone could find a quiet corner for a conversation or reading a book. The casino on board also deserves special mention. It is quite roomy, and not nearly so smoky as on other ships. The casino staff is very good about checking for drink orders. Carnival turned our seven day cruise into a six day cruise. Now the bad part is Carnival plans no compensation for the meals we had to purchase blocks away from their terminal. As Elite cruisers with other lines, our cruise with Carnival was sort of an experiment to see if we wanted to add them to our mix of cruise lines. Carnival's lack of concern about our security and comfort speaks volumes. I should also mention I am a Carnival stockholder. I am now not surprised at Carnival's dismal forecasts and stock performance. Read Less

This old, rusty bucket is small and it vibrates all the time. The crew, for the most part, can't wait to get transferred to another vessel. The food is awful with the exception of Nick and Nora's Steakhouse. N&N has great food and world class service and was the only nice thing on this ship. The casino is so smokey that it is not fit to walk through let alone stay and gamble. I guess this saved me a bit of money. The food in the main dining hall is passable for breakfast but was so bad the one dinner we experienced that we opted to pay the extra to eat at the Steakhouse every other night. We had coffee sent to the cabin the first coupld of mornings but it was so bitter that the rest of the week we walked to the coffee bar and the very nice barista made something more acceptable. The Chef's Table experience was nice, but just showed that they have the talent to make good food, just not for the ship's capacity. The topper for my cruise was that I purchased some liquor on Caymen, a hard to find brand. And while a letter made it to my cabin stating that they had it and it would be delivered later that evening, it was lost, and thought to have been misdelivered. Tough for me as I've been getting the runaround for a couple of days not trying to get the purchase price refunded. I won't ever sail on this rust bucket ever again. Read Less

Chose this cruise for the itinerary only. Ship was only superficially clean, poor maintenance overall. We had a balcony cabin and could see rust on the davit that held an emergency boat , worried that it would not hold weight of passengers if an emergency. 1 woman collapsed during safety drill, crew stood frozen and were unsure what to do- passengers assisted her, took approx. 15 minutes for medical to assist her. Appeared to have shortage of staff, especially in dining room, improper place settings at tables, only 2 nights with table cloths. Wait time between courses were unreasonable, dirty dishes sat for long periods because staff was so short, though I didn't blame staff, they did their very best. No coffee available on the lido deck in every area that it was supposed too, broken equipment, cracked vinyl on some chairs on the lido deck buffet area. Lost lights in our room at least 3 days in a row for periods of time, 1 time my husband was in shower in the dark... Neighbors had no a/c for 3 days.... Limited entertainment, not a lot to do during the day for activities. Same old, same old... Feel insulted that Carinval appear to care so little for it's ships and passengers... Read Less

We chose this cruise based on the port that it left out of, the dates, and the ports visited. If it wasn't for the ports we visited this cruise would have been highly disappointing. We basically used the cruise as a means of transportation to the places we wanted to visited. Embarkation went fairly smooth, but was delayed due to a wedding taking place before anybody could get on board. We were suite guests and had purchased faster to the fun as well, so were allowed to go to our room right away. We were in room 6260 which is a corner aft room with a wrap around deck. The room was large, with tons of storage, and a really great deck! Our room steward was also phenomenal. There was some significant shaking/rattling...like if a door, or closet door, wasn't closed completely it rattled a ton. The bed shook a LOT. This didn't bother us, but I could see if you were a light sleeper this could be super annoying. The muster drill took forever, was outside, and we were required to stand shoulder to shoulder in the heat for way longer than any other muster drill we've had to do. The common spaces, pool deck, and other ship areas were dated but fine and met our needs. The lido deck was an absolute disaster every single time we tried to eat there. There was never any food out and available. The lines were very long. I wanted a grilled cheese for lunch one day from the deli and waited 25 minutes. I wanted chicken fingers from the buffet another day and they were not ready. Tried the day after, and still not available. Because the food that people wanted wasn't readily available they would just wait until it was cooked, further backing up the lines. There were various food stations on the lido deck and there wasn't just one line you were waiting in, but typically two or three different lines. By the time you actually got the food you wanted, half of your food was cold. It was a very strange setup, and unlike anything I've seen before on a cruise ship. We did the anytime dining option for dinner and were pleasantly surprised that we never had to wait to be seated, and always got a great table for two. The service in the dining room was fairly good. However, the food was horrendous. Nearly inedible. My husband got mussels one night and 4 out of 8 of them were dead. The grilled chicken I got one night was boiled and disgusting. The vegetables served with every single meal were unseasoned and dry. I'm talking about carrots that were so dry they were white. No butter, no salt, no pepper. The food was extremely unimaginative. Like worse than food you get in the hospital. We did dine in the steakhouse one night and the food there was okay, but definitely not memorable. I was also surprised that the steakhouse was not more closed off from the pool/waterslide area. We would be eating and children would be running through the steakhouse soaking wet, barefoot, and with ice creams in hand. I ordered a cappuccino to have with dessert one night, we received our desserts, ate them, waited an additional 10 minutes and still no cappuccino, so we just got up to leave. Our server said- don't you want your coffee? Ya- I wanted it with my dessert 25 minutes ago... The cruise director Frankie was excellent. He was super funny and we attended a few things that he put on. The other entertainment on the ship was highly lacking. The main stage productions were downright terrible. We turned around to see the look on other people's faces during the 1st night production and everyone clearly felt the same way. People were getting up and leaving about 10 minutes into it. The comedy was decent, and there was some really good acoustic music on board. We also played bingo a few times which was fun. We purchased the highest level internet package because we needed it for work, and it was completely unusable. Like couldn't read a single email because it wouldn't download. We were supposed to be able to use Skype, and definitely couldn't. Tried to use it all over the ship and it didn't work at all. Tried to post a single picture to Facebook and couldn't. We booked all of our excursions outside of the ship and if it wasn't for the beautiful places we visited and the wonderful people we met in Cozumel, Belize, Roatan, and Grand Cayman we would have been so disappointed. Overall, I will not be sailing Carnival again. Read Less

Traveled with four others, from different states to have a nice relaxing TRAVEL vacation. Embarkation was delayed by two days with no explanation what so ever with only a week in advance notice. We lost two ports... Our main goal was to travel to different places. Long customer service lines. Leaking ceilings. Closed off places because of maintenance Toilet overflowed. Bathroom light went out. Yellowish brackish toilet water after flushing No communication at all Because we were stuck in Tampa for two day, they supplied shuttle services to places like Clear Water Beach, but didn't inform anyone that there was an extremely limited schedule of three times per day. People were left standing on the sidewalk with their family and beach gear because they couldn't fit on the one shuttle going to the beach. When I complained about the toilet and bathroom light, they said all they could offer was some chocolate covered strawberries since I already paid for the Cheers program. (they got annoyed because they couldn't offer me a free drink...) But then they showed up with some small cakes plucked from the buffet! Severe lack of communication on all fronts. I had sent an email about my grievances with the short notice of the delayed embarkation. They replied two weeks later with a cheeky note saying "Happy National Go Barefoot Day Ellie! Seems fitting as you and Pagna are enjoying a beautiful day in Cozumel today, yes, we responded to her too - how fun is that?" They only apologized for the delay in response, closing with: "It is our sincere wish that you allow us the opportunity to win back your confidence and exceed your expectations." And yet offered nothing at all. I will say that my time off-ship, at the two ports we actually made it to, was enjoyable. Though unfortunate that they were two out of the seven days on the ship. Our servers were extremely kind and accommodating, and the staff and bartenders were the shining stars of the trip for me. Read Less

The cruise was substandard- improper equipment, smokey environment throughout the ship with poor if any exhaust system, murky pool water, impolite mechanics/technicians, poorly working stateroom air conditioning and the list goes on. If Carnival ever sends an email stating there are 'unavoidable routine maintenance issues' that cause the ship to be docked a couple days, here is what that meant for us. Propeller issues(took 3x to dock the ship), divers removing propeller parts, exposed pipes with water dripping all over the ship, large industrial fans drying out carpet, blowing germs in the air, smell of sewage when flushing, poorly working cabin a/c. This is NOT routine maintenance. Carnival refuses to refund any amount, but instead offers on board credit and a discounted future cruise. WHY would anyone want to cruise again with them when they don't stand behind their "product or service" ? Stated that since nobody else had complained about the a/c in our cabin, that part of our complaint was basically invalid. On board, we were refused a fan because they were only for medical necessity- so we had to purchase 2 fans for both of the staterooms. We also had to keep the curtains closed so the cabin would not heat up-when checked, it was deemed 'satisfactory' by ship standards of course. I don't go on a cruise to keep my curtains closed.I work hard for my money and do not want to throw thousands of dollars away again. When I purchase a product, it is with certain expectations. Carnival would have fared better to keep its customers happy by a partial refund to me rather than placating with on board credit and future discounts. The excursion ticket time was incorrect on Carnivals side, left us waiting and extra hour in terrible heat and then the excursion was cut an hour shorter because of schedule changes. Carnival would not refund that money either. Carnival offered cruises last minute for $65 pp for gamblers, but cannot afford to compensate me fairly for valid dissatisfaction and to keep my business. The staff was mostly pleasant, but obviously stressed from the beginning, doing the best they could do. The food was good, dining service was slow but pleasant. Customer service on the phone when called to 'complain' was poor. I actually had no desire to ask for a refund, but was hoping for an understanding ear and maybe a small discount. When the CS stated that they could not do anything because no one else had complained...and was completely disassociated from the emotion of how terrible this cruise was, then is when I went from disappointed, wanting to give feedback, to mad and wanting reimbursement-not moneys toward a future cruise that I am not inclined to want spend my hard earned money on. PLEASE look at all cruise lines prior to booking with a company who does not stand behind their name. Especially do not cruise the 'Miracle' ship. Read Less

I choose this cruise because it left out of Long Beach and we just did not feel like flying this year. I was very disappointed, in the cleanliness of the ship as well as several of the crew members where very rude, Three times with bartenders, one of them twice. Dining reservations messed up and they had received 5 calls prior to sailing to make sure that was taken care of right. Nasty, rude Maitre d and the assistant Maitre d was also uncaring and rude. Dirty Balcony, bad layout on the ship (which ok its and older design) Bad tender organization in Cabo. So many other things that I just could not justify for the price paid. I am a frequent cruiser and I expect good service and a clean ship. I had recently sailed with Carnival on the Inspiration, from that experience I thought Carnival had stepped their game up. Well, the Miracle felt like a bait and switch. The capper for me was when I returned and received my survey, believe me I told them how I felt. I really expected an email back or a call, just saying sorry. But Nope! Last time I sail with Carnival. Back to Royal Caribbean for me, and my groups of people I take with me. Read Less

This was a seven-day cruise roundtrip from Long Beach, California with visits to Puerto Villarta and Cabo San Lucas. Hubby and I are experienced cruisers (close to 50 cruises). Until this cruise, we thought that there could never be a bad cruise. We stand corrected! From beginning to the end, this was a subpar experience. Embarkation We arrived early so we could relax in the lounge and have a cup of coffee prior to embarkation. When Carnival first moved to the Long Beach from San Pedro, there was a separate check-in lounge inside the terminal for suite, minisuite and priority passengers. The lounge then resembled the airy lobby of an upscale hotel, furnished with comfortable and attractive sofas and chairs. There was coffee, juice, sodas, water, and a large variety of snacks. Now, the lounge is located outside the terminal, resembles a stuffy Quonset hut and is furnished with uncomfortable, straight backed chairs crowded into every available space. There is no coffee, water or snacks. When I inquired why, the attendant told me that they couldn’t solve the “ant” problem. We walked over to the Queen Mary, paid the $10 admission so we could have breakfast inside. Our other option was a food truck located by the parking garage. The Cabin Since this was a short cruise, we opted for an unobstructed view balcony on Deck Four. Usually, everything is spic and span. The balcony furniture had been wiped down, but was not quite clean. The glass was so smudged that it detracted from the balcony view. The last time I saw so much rust on a balcony was thirty years ago on a P&O cruise ship that was decommissioned after that cruise. It was day four or five when the workers washed down and cleaned the balcony thoroughly. The Food What food? Gone was the “eat at the buffet almost anytime.” It was more like “when is the buffet open?” That is unless we wanted pizza or a deli sandwich. Not something I wanted every day. When the small buffet was open, the variety was not there. Same food every day. The room service menu was another shock. The things that used to be free, like chicken wings and French fries now came with a surcharge. Sort of puts a bad taste in your mouth. Pun intended. The restaurant dining has always been our favorite until this cruise. The food and service has always been very, very good if not excellent. This cruise, not so much. On the whole, the hot food was just warm and slightly overcooked. On the first formal night, I chose the lobster tail and shrimp. Without asking if I wanted it, another lobster tail was put on my plate. Rather than have it go to waste, I asked for a container so I could put it and the remainder of my meal in the cabin refrigerator. For the first time on any cruise, including several other Carnival cruises we were told no; it was not allowed. It got worse later in the week when I was ill. Nothing contagious, but I didn’t feel like getting dressed for dinner. My husband went to the dining room to get something for me to eat. The maitre’d told him that it was not allowed even though I had done the exact thing when my husband had the flu on another Carnival cruise. The maitre’d then told my husband that he had to “call his supervisor” for permission. I finally got something to eat, but not without my husband becoming very insistent. One positive memory was the officer (the head of bar services from Florida). He absolutely loved his job and we could tell. He cared the passengers and was very cordial to us and polite to his employees. It was refreshing. Disembarkation This was the best part of the cruise. Unfortunately, after talking to some of my fellow passengers, it seems that our experience on this cruise is becoming more the norm on Carnival line ships in the corporation’s attempt steer passengers to its more costly lines: Princess, Costa, Seabourn, Holland America, Cunard an Read Less

This was supposed to be a fun Spring Break trip for my family but it was the worst vacation we have ever taken! Both myself and my husband got food poisoning from food we ate on the ship! We returned home dehydrated and very sick! This was the first and last Carnival cruise we have been on! We cruised with Norwegian three times and Disney once. We were not impressed with the Miracle. The ship was filthy! We had an extended balcony cabin, 8275, looking off the back of the ship. The 21 and over area was one deck above us and we woke up to throw up on our balcony and napkins. They stayed there until the end of the cruise. This was the roughest ride we ever had on a ship! It was so rough that it opened cabinets, made things fall off tables and rolled us out of bed. The ride was rough going down and returning. I'm not sure if it was because we were on deck 8 or because we were in an aft facing cabin. There was a constant vibration from the engines and then rolling back and forth. There really wasn't much choice on restaurants. There was one restaurant and then the buffet. I didn't like how the buffet was set up. There were small stations set up but you had to walk around a lot to look at what was available. Not every station was open for lunch or dinner and this was a sold out cruise so lines were long. We ate at the restaurant twice but the menu was the same with only 4 entrees changing. I was just used to more choices on NCL. I ate a corned beef sandwich from the deli and threw up for 18 hours. My husband had a Caesar salad from room service and was violently ill with vomiting and diarrhea for 24 hours. When we told our room steward he said that a lot of people were sick. What I thought was a plus, 24 hour launderette, turned out to be a minus because the machines left brown stains all over our white clothes. I was surprised that the Port of Long Beach doesn't have inside facilities. You check in and then wait outside for hours. It was cold when we arrived and we sat on cold concrete waiting. Overall, the Carnival Miracle was a dated, dirty ship. We will not cruise with Carnival again because of how sick we were and it was not as good as NCL. Read Less

Let me say first, this was not my first Rodeo! We have cruised most lines and all over the world destinations! This cruise line is so greedy and stupid, they first cancelled my reservation for Non-Payment "from my travel agent" Not Me! Then offered me "inside cabin" when I had paid for an "extended balcony" for the same money? Really! They did finally get a regular balcony, which they gave to me for "additional money"! Now wasn't that just special! They invade your luggage, looking for weapons???? Really, try booze! Heaven forbid someone would sneak some booze on board, after all they offer you unlimited (15 actually) drinks per day, to encourage drunks and bad behavior with kids aboard! And if you have one person in your cabin that likes to drink, but the other doesn't, you "both" have to purchase the "All you can Drink" package for $800+ for the week! Now there is a real savings. I guess they don't understand "human behavior 101." A happy customer is a more extravagant customer. I would have spend more money in bars, photos, and gift shops, but I wasn't going to spend, but bear minimum to enjoy myself, since I was unset with Carnival! And don't even try to bring a "plastic bottle of water" on board as it might have some illegal BOOZE inside! I had a brand new bottle of water UNOPENED as I was fighting a cold and needed to sip water, and they literally DUMPED MY WATER BOTTLE IN THE TRASH, before I could board. Another person behind me tried to dink her water, and was told to GO OUTSIDE IF SHE WANTED TO DRINK IT! He was just plain RUDE! Another kicker was I usually take some kind of decorations for the season, and tape to the cabin door, so friends can find our room easily. I did that with some St. Patty's garland and had a note, address to me, that it wasn't allowed, unless I wanted to purchase "their" fire retardant decorations from "their" fund shops! And true to the Greed of Carnival down to the lousy decorations With all the cruise lines to choose from, you would think they would be a little more CUSTOMER FRIENDLY! I WILL NEVER BOOK ANOTHER CRUISE ON CARNIVAL! Ports were great locations for visit and we enjoyed all three! But word to future cruisers, pick another line that isn't worried about paying their CEO's multi millions! Read Less

We've been on two other Carnival cruises on different ships each time. This by far was our worst experience cruising. It was our honeymoon cruise so we booked a balcony room on the 7th floor so we could enjoy the views from the balcony. To start with the fridge in the room didn't work so it took them two days to replace it. The bathroom light fixture above the sink had dead moths laying in it when we got on the ship and still had them when we got off. The mirrors in the room were dirty and the counters were dusty. The staff on board wasn't as friendly as previous cruises, like my husband mentioned it felt like we were on a ship that the employees knew it was going out of business and they were all going to be without jobs. On previous cruises they were so friendly and nice, and when greeting us called us by name. Not the case on the Miracle! The adult pool on the Serenity deck looked like dirty lake water, you couldn't see the bottom or sides and it was left open this way even after I reported it. I manage an apartment complex that has a pool and a hot tub and know the requirements for maintenance and these were not maintained properly. Granted they can get dirty but proper health procedures would require them to temporarily close them until the chemical levels were within the guidelines for operating a public pool. Some of the elevators didn't work while, women's restrooms had out of order signs posted on them, automatic doors on the Lido deck leading from the pool area to the buffet area was out of order. The list goes on and on. It was the roughest riding ship we've been on even when the water wasn't rough we would lie in bed at night and could feel it vibrate. We didn't experience anything like this on the previous cruises. Really disappointed with Carnival. The ship was built in 2003 and refurbished 2015 so you would think that the decor would be nice. Wrong it was horrible, reminded me of something you might see in the 60's. We both got sick from eating the food on the ship on the last day of two days at sea. My husband was served a lobster tail in the dining room that was mushy and slimy. We had to send it back. Other passengers commented when we got off the ship that now they know why it's called the Miracle because it was a miracle we all made it back safe. Read Less

My Trip on Caravan Miracle Ship. !st Day, Was great entrance, having a cane for support meant I was somewhat handicapped, so I was whisked in front of the line. So great first impression. However, that was soon ended with an emergency safety evacuation check. They tried to account for every person. So one of the crew personnel was assigned several pages with the peoples names, and had to physically find the name on those pages. REALLY, they have no computers to be able to automatically check name cards. What a joke. So after an hour of waiting around, they proceeded to show us how to use the life jackets. Of course, by then, we would have all drowned. So on our way, the ship departed. Great, let us begin our wonderful trip. A fantastic supper was available. At least 3 star treatment, however, far from 5 star restaurant service, since you had to chase down the waiter for coffee refills. So then the walking began. A lot of walking. However, in my case it was welcomed, since I needed exercise. Located the pool area, was hoping to get some laps in the pool. Very disappointed. It was more of a wading pool, with a hot tub. The deep end that I saw was about 9 feet by 5 feet. No laps to be had. Since I am a nighthawk by nature, naturally I could not sleep, so around 2 in the morning off I went looking for stuff to do. Well, very disappointing, Everything was closed. There was nothing. They said in their brochure, that there was several 24 hour items available. I roamed the ship for 35 minutes, I found absolutely nothing open. I guess the crew was tired, after such an exhausting day. 2nd Day. Hoping to at least have access to the internet, even if I had to pay extra for it, so I signed up for the $62.00 weekly package. However, after several attempts, I found out that it does not work with every computer. They could not get it to work with my computer or my I-pad. So I at least signed up for the text messaging on my phone. Worked most of the time if you were out of the room, while you were roaming around the ship. But, neither my wife or myself were ever able to make it work from our room. So, to access the App on our phone, we had to leave the room, to find anything on the ship. However, once we found all the places to visit, we were somewhat pleased to find the comedy club. Also, the entertainment on the ship was quite good. More than satisfactory. Of course, you had all those wonderful eating places to indulge your palette. 3rd day. Hoping to make up for the first two disappointing days, we tried to make an excursion to the baja mainline. Well same as 1st day, they lined us all up the length of the ship and one by one took the peoples name and assigned a number to go to shore. Once we saw the lineup was ridiculously long, we did not bother to even attempt to go to shore for a two hour stay. However the day was not a complete lost, I found out that they had computers on board that actually worked on the internet, So was able to get some news about the world. And of course, access my E-mail. So all was not lost. Again, the meals on ship , were still in the 3 star class. 4th day. Added another hour to our clock time. It was too hot for my wife and I to attempt to go to shore. So we stayed in our cabin most of the day, simply because the whole gambling casino was completely closed. Here’s hoping that the trip will end soon. One of the problems with cruises is that if you dislike the voyage there is no alternative, you are simply stuck with finishing the cruise. It would not matter how unpleasant it became. 5th day. Rock and roll the ship went. Obviously, they wanted to make up time, so put pedal to the Metal, and wayward we went. By now, all that walking and mostly the sugar fix was starting to take its toll. We both were extremely tired and listless. So snoozing became the norm. Another problem, with the amount of people on board is that you have to shower at night, because there is no hot water in the mornings. 6th day, we should arrive back in the waters of the USA. Spent most of the day walking to get rid of my sugar fix. Way too many cakes and deserts. Really looking forward to debarking the ship. Being an 73 male with the need of a cane, made it extremely hard to walk around. The ship swaying back and forth quite excessively made it worst for walking. 7th day, Read Less

This may be the last time to see my BROTHER. That was the main reason for my wife & I to go. We were looking forward to be in THE GRAND SUITE .Little did we know that we where going to have a room with major things so wrong and during the cruise we missed two ports and two excursions and we were stuck on the ship for two extra days. My wife and I decided to fill up the whirlpool tub in our room. As we started to enjoy our experience, I noticed that there was something brown starting to float around, and kept getting worse and worse, we also got our body parts sucked up in the suction vent that we noticed was broke. The water looked like sewage, and also smelled like sewage, we were both grossed out, also started not to feel well afterwards, they tried to fix to it but never did the rest of the cruise we had to warm up bottled water and use that for our shower. Our steward was a very nice person and helped us out all cruise long .the TV was just hanging there and the ice box door would not close. room service was very good. We had also noticed that when meals were ready for everyone in the chow lines, rarely did we see anyone use the hand sanitizer at all, kind of made us a little uneasy eating. They should watch and make sure everyone washes their hands. Read Less

Poor: Housekeeping, Food, Service, Attitude. Old ship. This ship is very old if it would try to get a higher speed than 25 knots it would most likely fall apart, speaking of the ship and it's engine, you can feel the engine roaring and vibrating on every floor. If you want to know how it felt like sleeping, tell your Grandmother your dying, put your phone on vibrate and under your pillow and try to fall asleep as your Grandmother is calling you for the 567 time trying to find out if you're okay. That is exactly how it feels like sleeping on the Carnival Miracle. On the way back to LA (Aboard the ship) my kids woke up with bite marks most likely from bed bugs. I hope I didn't bring any home otherwise well have to get rid of every mattress we have and quarantine our home. Later during the day we went to look at the pictures at the photo department. One of the staff members accused us of trying to take a picture (with a phone) of the photos displayed on the display walls. I tried to explain to him it was misunderstanding but he chose to use profane language, instead of solving the issue. He then called his manager, who had a look at my photo gallery, and there happened to be no pictures of the photos from the display. The staff member understood that he was wrong and left without saying a word even when I asked him for his name twice. I made a complaint at Guest Services, and I explained my issue. She recorded everything and promised me I would receive the paperwork with the case number, early morning. I didn't receive anything. Read Less

This was the absolute worst vacation of my life. I have taken several cruises in the past and this was by far the worst ever. Room was filthy - had to call housekeeping 3 times to get it clean and point to the filth and ask for it to be cleaned. I finally just cleaned it myself. The food at the buffet was horrible, under seasoned and tasted frozen. They state they have several restaurants on this ship but in all actuality it is a huge buffet with different "stations". You have to pay $35 per person to go to the nicer dining which was pretty good. The pools are freezing with children running around with non existent supervision. The food in the main dining is terrible, lack luster and just plain awful. There are no activities for us night owls after 11pm at night, the dance club allows teens to stay in there all night, oh and there is only ONE dance club. I was thoroughly disappointed with this cruise line and will never ever consider going Carnival again. Read Less

We came from Australia with a few other families. When I booked I found it difficult to find out about what was on the boat, ie: restaurants, entertainment, what the rooms looked like, which was worrying . Before the cruise stared we waited for 45minutes in the hot sun on deck while they did some sort of check, I didn't know what the purpose of this was as I could not hear from the loud speaker, and I found the staff were not interested either. The room was adequate, though very dated, bed comfortable, towels old and a little stained, bathroom small and outdated. I never meet the room steward so I can't comment. The air conditioner was terrible , it was noisy and could not be turned off. There was only one dining room ( not counting the stake house at $35) or the awful buffet on the top deck. The dining room had the most atrocitious decoration, I found it hard to sit in the room. The dining room wasn't open for lunch which was disappointing. I never ate at the Buffett , as I don't like lining up , eating from plastic plates and cups and eating food that other people can touch. There was very little in the way of entertainment , no theatre production at night, bingo $20 a card and only 3 games, big rip off. The 2 last days a sea were terribly boring. The only redeeming feature was the Alchemy Bar, elegant , with the best staff onboard by far. I would not recommend this cruise to anyone. Read Less

This was our4th cruise, 2nd cruise with Carnival, and was a family reunion of sorts. There were 25 in our party. Let me start by saying the Carnival Miracle is a worn out and tired ship. In my opinion it needs to be retired or completely refitted. This boat has VERY few features and amenities that the rest of the Carnival fleet has. There is rust everywhere around the ship, most notably the framework of the balconies. There were no stage productions on this boat, has the smallest waterslide (75') in the fleet, no Seaside or Drive-in outdoor theatres, no Guys Burger Joint, Mongolian Wok, or Blue Iguana Cantina. which are on most other ships. The upper outdoor sports area is small with not near the options of the newer ships, however, the gym was well equipped, though small. Now for the bad stuff. The food and service were abysmal!! Our room steward was the only bright spot of the entire cruise. (probably because we never saw her, but she did an excellent job with our cabin). Most eating establishments say they remove the calories from there delicious food so you don't gain weight. Well Carnival has accomplished the same thing by removing the flavor and quality from their food, and offering up the same bland and at times inedible food at the buffet, day after day after day! The pastries were like they were from a week old bakery, the fruit and cheese filling dried to the point of being like plastic! The only item I noticed that differed from day one was that the eggs benedict (at least I think that's what it was) and on day 6 changed from poached egg on salmon to ham, but the yellow substance they passed as hollandaise sauce didn't improve either version. To be honest, I've eaten much better food at the buffets in Laughlin and Stateline (Primm). Everything appeared to have been setting in warmers for hours before being served. My diet for the week consisted of oatmeal for breakfast, and pizza for lunch. I did not find anything else on the buffet line palatable, nor the food for breakfast in the dining room. The dining room menu never changed throughout the whole cruise. For dinner, we had a table of eight, and we did throw them a bit of a curve ball. 2 of our diners had special needs. One was vegan and the other gluten intolerant. Every night was a struggle trying to get things ordered to accommodate our special need friends. There is always a bit of a language barrier, but you would think after the third night they'd get nothing with meat for one, and no bread or anything breaded for the other, but they would keep bringing stuff they could not eat to the table, and when questioned, got a bit of an attitude. There was not a single night at the main dining room where we had some one come by and ask us for drinks. The food was marginal at best with a few exceptions. Our 1st elegant night, I ordered a lobster tail and prime rib with a baked potato. The lobster was cold, no au jus or horse radish for the rib, and no butter or sour cream for the potato. We never saw another server until they gave us desert menus 20 minutes later. Our 2nd to last night in the dining room our table was seated at 5:55. At 6:35 the Matre d walked by our table and asked how we were doing, and I informed him we we'd be doing much better if someone could at least bring some water to our table. The Matre d actually brought us water, then I asked how about some one to take our order?. It was quite obvious that every one around us had finished their main course and were started on desert, and we still didn't even have water at our table! Never an apology, and we ended up missing a show as they hurried us along because they had to set up for the 8:00 seating. The last night went smooth until time for desert. I was the only one wanting desert, so flagged the waiter down and tried to order, but he said he needed to place the whole tables order at the same time. I tried to explain I was the only one ordering desert and everyone else was visiting family at other tables. He said he'd be right back. 5 minutes later he took my order. 15 minutes later, not having my desert and the staff lining up to do their "Conga" line, We got up and left. Suffice it to say, I'm a gold card customer that will never reach the platinum level. Our 1st Carnival cruise was good, not great, but OK. Not sure if Carnival is cutting costs or having difficulty staffing, but we will not be coming back!! Read Less

My family (mother, grandfather, and his girlfriend) took the week long cruise out of Long Beach on the Carnival Miracle. By the end of day 1, it was abundantly clear we would never take another trip on Carnival again. Being native Southern Californians, we all met a single house and then drove down to the Long Beach terminal. Embarkation was a nightmare. I was the sole non-senior citizen on the trip and traveling with two people who require assistance walking and hearing. Given our unique challenges, we opted for Faster to the Fun, which did get us right to a check in agent with no line, but we were immediately chided for bringing 2 cabins to the agent at once. I explained that since they needed help standing, we couldn't just leave them in the line. The agent was still rude and forgot to give 2 of us sign and sail cards. Boarding of the ship was also delayed for 2 hours due to technical problems which left everyone outside with minimal seating. The process for handicap assistance is absurd, it was paper based on you had to pray that the pushers found you among the crowd. The FTTF got about half of our bags there early and got us entry to our rooms which were filthy. I am talking inches of dust on the desk and hair on the sheets. The ship is decorated in hideous garish over the top decor that is deteriorated. The only room that wasn't jarring to the eyes was the Alchemy Bar. We all guessed the ship was about 40-50 years old and were shocked to find out it was only 12. Public spaces and rooms were tiny and the hallways are all jagged, making the layout confusing and almost impassable with a walker or wheelchair. We had extended balconies, which sounded like a great idea, except that they were so narrow the loungers had to be turned sideways to walk past them, rending the whole balcony useless. The rooms were cramped and felt very dated and dilapidated. The food in a word was inedible. At every meal at least one person was left with a meal that they took a bite of and refused to eat. At peak, 4 of of 6 people refused to eat the food they were served. The only edible desserts were the molton cake and the sherbert. The quinoa and baked tomato and the fun french toast were the two stand out dishes that were by far the worst things ever given to a person to eat. The pizza was the only consistent edible food on the buffet, and always had a long line. Entertainment: There was entertainment? The comedians were good, there was nothing else for adults. Service was horrible. Our waiter never came to check on us and would only notice that we didn't eat our dinner when they came to clear plates. One day our breakfast was left sitting for 30 minutes, so we all had an ice cold breakfast. Frequently we were brought the wrong items. Getting a lemonade was almost as hard as wrestling it away from a bear. The cabin stewards were overworked and didn't have the time to adequately take care of the cabins. The final nail in the coffin was when an 85 year old fell in the bathroom, and we called 911, not only were both calls answered after 10 rings by guest services, it took in excess of half an hour for someone to show up. Once we got to medical services, the staff there was great. Thankfully other than a massive hematoma, she was ok, but had her injuries been any more serious, that kind of response could have had serious consequences. This was not an isolated incident, as we heard another passenger experience a similar wait time Never ever ever again. Read Less

I have been on 12 cruises in the past and 3 of those were with Carnival. After this cruise I will never sail with Carnival again! I was supposed to have early dining but when I arrived I was in late dining. Traveling with a young kid this was unacceptable. I asked 4 nights in a row to have my seating changed and the staff was extremely rude and did not care about me. In addition the food quality was terrible. On the elegant night I ordered prime rib. It was the worst food I had ever tasted after two bites I left and went to the lido deck for pizza. The cruise cut corners everywhere. It was so cheap. There weren't even any strawberries for the chocolate fountain. One day my daughter asked for peanut butter and jelly. Carnival could not even splurge for real jelly. There was artificially flavored purple/pink goo. Absolutely disgusting. She wouldn't touch it and I don't blame her. When I returned from the cruise I complained about the quality of the cruise. Carnival had no interest in fixing anything. They said we can not compensate you in any way for your terrible experience. We just take notes. I will never sail Carnival again. Read Less

I was charged money incorrectly and they told me it would take 3 to 4 working days to credit my account. Only after getting my bank involved it took 30 days and ONLY after constant contact, I finally got my money ($1400!!). My room was left open all day while i was on my day excursion. Shocking! So disappointed. Had been looking forward to this trip since the summer. We opted for the Premium Balcony room since it would just be my husband and I. This room was at a significant greater cost than the regular balcony. The room was dirty, not at all well maintained and overall very underwhelming. There was someone's long black hair everywhere. That just truly grosses me out. Paint was chipping and missing and the furniture had definitely seen better days and about 15-20 years out of date. The food was the absolutely worst thing about this cruise. AWFUL is a gross understatement. The lido deck buffet and dining room were awful. People were walking out of the sea day brunches truly upset because the eggs were inedible. The lines at the buffet were worse than most buffets in Vegas at a 1/10th of the quality. They truly skimp on food quality. That use to be the best part of taking a cruise. Carnival seems to have their bottom line more in mind than dining on the boat. The steakhouse was the only positive dining experience we had on board. For seven days entertainment was very limited. I could not even imagine doing the Hawaii cruise for 14 days on this tiny ship. Keep in mind it is one of Carnivals smallest and oldest vessels. I wish I would of known this before booking this trip. Read Less
