We travel in a party of 11 which every one is experienced cruise traveller. The only reason that our family chose this cruise is the period time of the cruise. I am so disappointed with almost every thing including poor boarding, bad dinner, stinct lobster, worst breakfast, too limited choices of lunch, wrong, ineffective and annoying announcement, poor quality announcer, too limited tender boats causing too long line, bad organizing, etc. It took us more than an hour for boarding with limited assistance of staff. The only meat I found at breakfast was corned beef, no sausage, bacon nor ham. Pork bun was terrible. At dinner, the lobster we ordered and was supposed to pay extra was stinct. It was probably frozen for years thus the meat was unfresh and yucky. Supervisor seemed to avoid responsibility once first informed. At an island where anchored, only 3 tender boats with a capacity of 110 pax per boat were prepared. Only passengers who bought excursions can disembark at 8 a.m. Queing of the rest passengers lasted from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Every one has to come back to boat before 4.30 p.m.!!! What an absurd organizing. I encountered the problems with cabin facilities including hair dryer, hot water and blinking light. The latter was not able to solve even the technician came. Announcement was made with wrong information and ineffectively. It was made in the early morning to room thus annoying sleeping guests. Oh...there is a lot more to share. That should be enough to refrain all potential travelers from the ship. What a horrible cruise. The worst ever indeed. Read Less

Just come back from Costa Fortuna, can never be worse! 1. My wife got hurt seriously in one of the viewing elevator with a narrower inner half. She got bumped at the sharp angle while forcing back by an incoming flooding crowd of passengers. Why didn't they installed some protective layers on the angles to protect their customers? 2. Shower: very weak. Repairman said already fixed. Hard to take bath normally! 3. Air conditioning: too warm. Repairman said already fixed. Must be on. No one can turn it off. You just can change the combination of hot air and cold air. The problem was even we turn it to all cold air, it is still pumping out warm air. It made us sick throughout the journey. 4. Difficult to locate some restaurants. No straight road. You have to go upstairs and go downstairs again to some of the places. 5. Not really free from smoking in non-smoking areas, both outdoor & indoor! 6. Change of itinerary with short notice. 7. No free toothbrushes, no free toothpaste, no free bottled water. Why didn't they inform us in advance? 8. Only two sockets (including one in bathroom) for 2-round-pin electric plug, no sockets for 3-flat-pin electric plug type G (that of United Kingdom, Ireland, Malta, Malaysia & Singapore etc.). No changer, adaptor or extended sockets provided. 9. No free Wi-Fi and all paid Wi-Fi are very weak. Passengers of cabin 1005, 26th to 30th December, 2017 (with Vietnam onshore on 2017.12.28). My wife really enjoyed the shows performed by the Italian / western artists and paid extra to watch the late night show. My boy liked the play group. There were 136 children in the group and the staff appeared overwhelmed. All later activities required the participation of a parent. The cruise should have allocated more staff to take care of the children so the parents could go and play, even for an hour. I liked the ship tour. The cruise app worked very well on my Android phone. I could use the app to call the phone of my room. But it didn't work on my wife's iPhone. The cruise appeared to provide free data occasionally. I did subscribe to the cruise data plan, however. The sea between Naha and Taiwan was very rough and once the lift I rode stopped abruptly for a few seconds because the ship tilted too much. Luckily the ship crossed the sea at night but I still felt the ship went up and down 10 feet when lying on my bed for a few hours. On the first day in Naha we disembarked at 12 noon. We went to Shuri Castle, Urasoe Dai Park, and Kokusai Doori. I wanted to go to Hacksaw Ridge, which is 30 mins hike from the Urasoe Dai Park, but we spent too much time in the playground and it was getting dark so we skipped the Ridge. On the second day we disembarked at 10am and went to Omoromachi. We briefly visited Okinawa Prefectural Museum, and went to the supermarket to purchase some food and cookies. The ship would leave at 12:30 noon so we were in a hurry. The plug of the bathroom sink stuck. I called the operator at 2am and a repairman arrived in 10 minutes to fix it We were fortunate to have this Italian cruise experience. I have heard the Fortuna is heading back to Europe in 2019. We live in Hong Kong and boarded the ship heading to Naha at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal. The ship stopped at Naha for two days then sailed back to Hong Kong. We spent our 2017 Christmas Day on the ship. See my pictures. They worth thousands words I guess. Read Less

I choose this cruise because cost for 5 nights in my budget and I like to visit Naha city of Okinawa. I fly to hong Kong 1 day earlier transportation from airport to hotel by A 21 bus is easy from hotel to Kaitak cruise terminal by taxi . Kaitak cruise port builing new MTR station + new rail line may be open in next year. My room 129.. is clean and room maid is nice. But every night there has many noise came from under my room. Sound look like metal shaft moving on rail usaully from 1 AM-4 AM. Fortunately I known because your web so I took my best earplug. But in last night there had an loud announcement at 3 AM because a man lost from his room and very noise under my room. Entertainment on board is good Naha city port is neat town .Taxi is very quick and cheap. Shuri castle and okinawa world is good place for senior visitor. Read Less

Last time, my wife and I took Carnival triumph and we had a great experience. So I decided to took my family and relatives to Naha, Japan on June. 16, 2017 by Costa Fortuna. It is the worst travel trip ever. Dinner table management is disaster. People who went on time at 7:30pm has to wait at least 30 minutes to get in and they did not let anyone even when they have empty seats. So all second run people come in together at the same time, it turned out food service is very slow and then everyone missed their show time. Seafood is not fresh, and beef is over cooked, there’s no much change on food too. on the upper deck, they have basketball court but there’s no basketball to borrow. They expect people take their children with their own basketball? Come on~ Costa is out of my cruise company list. It is the worst cruise ever. I wouldn’t advise anyone to take Costa ~ Never ~ Read Less

I have been on cruises before so went on this one with open mind having read other reviews firstly after a long night flight we arrived at Dubai port at around 9am only to be told we could not board untill 3 pm our party of ten was allocated rooms on deck 2 that was the start of this nightmare cruise the noise on this deck is ridiculous not from passengers but the ship and it's crew . After a long day went to cabin for bed there was blood on bed linen we reported it changed next day after going to customer relations not even an apology we where then told we had to pay over 1 hundred euros for hotel service charge we prefare to tip the people we think deserve it but told it was compulsory . On to the food we only ate in the main restaurant twice the food and service was awfull the staff just ignored any request untill it suited them mabye because out of the party of ten 8 sitted in one restaurant 2 in another as we had booked together we asked to sit together they where not to pleased .the ship itself is clean but dated and for the life of me I cannot understand on a 7day cruise on 2days we docked all the lifts where turned off I suffer from bad angina and copd so I could not climb the stairs to deck eleven for lunch so had to wait untill evening for food I asked the reason was told essential repairs I would have thought these things would be done before we sailed . On to the entertainment it's an Italian cruise ship but they seemed to forget about any other languages after about 15 min all they spoke was Italian I will never cruise with this company again neither will any of my friends and to add to my disgust last day my bathroom towels had blood on them I would honestly anyone thinking of cruising with this ship use msc or royal Caribbean Read Less

I went for honeymoon and I have been in Norgweian and Princess cruises before and I was thinking that this was almost the same but this one was a dissaster. Firstly in general the staff was unfriendly and even rude. the food was terrible just mainly pizza and pasta and if you want a piece of meat you have to pay additional. my waitter was rude , unfriendly and lacking of peronal higene. you have to pay additionally for the water on the restaurant. many hidden cost and the buffet closes for long times on the afternoon. if you arrive from your excursion at 4 pm you have to wait until 7 pm to get some cheap food. the cabin luckly was made once per day and no more , even one day the didn´t make the room but the tips are still copulsory. snacks was just pizza margherita and a LOT of bread. ice cream additional. You can have breakfast at the restaurant but takes a lot, if you go to the buffet you cannot get even an omelet. again just bread. it is just best to AVOID costa as it seems that they want to save every single penny tranfered to bad experience for the customers. I had heard some negative things about Costa but lets be fair, they were not bad at all although they fall short of the standard I have seen with Royal Caribbean for example. The staff are great people as is the case usually but the management has got a few things totally wrong. Let me give one example; there is no tea or coffee available at any other time than breakfast and 4pm tea time - meaning no hot drinks at lunch or dinner - only available at hefty cost from the bar! It made some people vocally grumble - and how much money are they saving from this pathetic cut down? The outside cabin was nice and clean, had a window rather than a smaller porthole, food was reasonable quality and range, internet was also of reasonable price and speed - about €25 for my package with 250mb allownce which is ok for checking emails and social media over seven days BUT WATCH OUT - you must disable auto updates on your device or the whole balance will go in no time as it happened to me but fortunately in my case it did so on the eve of the last day so was not such a loss having used it for most of my cruise. We decided to go away for Christmas so we decided to go on a cruise round the Emirates, so we booked with Thomas Cook one night stay in Dubai in the Grand Time Hotel. The hotel was not what we had expected for Dubai tired & dated when we found the room it was facing a very busy road & after a long journey we did not need this apart form that the sheets had holes in once again very dated.The food was fair. Next day we were taken to the port in the same car witch picked us up from the airport top range car & very good polite driver. Arrived at port only to find a long queue for customs & embarkation to ship. once on the ship our cabin was not ready so went off for food & drink Finally cabin ready but no cases, we were told the will be put in our cabin. Time went on 9 o,clock had passed so I went to look for them found them in a pile by the lifts dug it out myself. By this time we retired for the night, Next day up for breakfast order eggs 45 mins passed this happened on all the trip. Evening meals were a little better but all with a Italian them if you like Italian food. Apart from that the cruse was good, we only used Costa once fora trip in Dubai which is well wort doing the rest or the stops we used a local taxi round about a £100 for five hours well wort it. Very tired and dated ship. Food choices minimal and waiting forty five minutes for breakfast. Entertainment repeats nightly. The worst was giving credit card information to find that £9.00 each was deducted daily for services and tips even though Staff were trying to get more on the last evening before we knew we had to pay this. Please be aware of these charges if you book a cruise, the travel agent said we were "lucky" as this was a small service charge. When queried with our credit card company we were told it was section 75 in the terms and conditions that this charge would be levied, we were never given any paperwork by the travel agent and our computer was in for repair. If you enjoy all inclusive to ensure your costs are met upfront, don't do this. You could face a nasty shock on your final bill. The cruise per se was O.K. but did not exceed expectations. After much encouragement from friends, who often go on cruises, we decided to try one out. We wanted a small cruise so we drove to Savona and got on the Costa Fortuna, which is a large boat. Impressed in the beginning we later realized that big size is not an advantage. There were too many people and from all nationalities: orientals, blacks, muslim, etc. The food was average and there was no flexibility as to where we sit for dinner. The personnel was polite but they generally had very poor knowledge of Western languages! The excursions were too expensive so we opted out. The cabin was O.K. but coming back home we found a bedbug, my wife was bitten several times and she is allergic to insect bites. We were alarmed and began house cleaning, boiling sheets, vacuuming everything, etc. and my wife slept in the living-room for ten days. So far neither she nor I have been bitten again, so we hope that the bedbug we killed was the only one we got, and that it was a male! By now we hope that any offsprings should have manifested themselves. I give Costa the worst note possible because when I brought the issue up with them, they dismissed it for lack of proof! We had no bugs like that in our home and we found one bug 3 days after we got back from the cruise. How much more proof can there be? If it weren't for the bedbug, it would have been an "average" type of cruise not to get too excited about. If we ever go again, we will try to save money ahead of time and go for a more expensive (hopefully higher quality) cruise. Read Less
