We wanted a close to home cruise line, meaning a short air flight, and a short cruise to test the quality of the food and service. I read many Oceania threads on Cruise Critic and appreciated being able to take our own wine on-board, good food, and what I interpreted to be a mature yet lively clientele. Have only been on larger ships from Celebrity and Royal Caribbean. Wanted to try a smaller ship.
We were very happy with our 1st experience on Oceania/Regatta. Ground transportation from LAX to ship was effortless as was our return. The same for Embarkation/Disembarkation - very organized.

Food was excellent (nice choice and variety). Service has excellent (stateroom stewards were amazing!). Thoroughly enjoyed how close the ship got to Hubbard Glacier. Also enjoyed the other ports of call. The Naturalist on the cruise was also amazing. Saw dolphins, whales, and sea lions from the ship - cool!

After much research, we chose Oceania to cruise Alaska for many reasons: the size of the ship to allow closer viewing of glaciers and inside passage cruising, crew to passenger ratio, refurbished interior design of the cabin and public spaces, specialty restaurants and overall dining, promise of cuisine excellence, gym, spa, and other amenities.

I booked Oceania mainly due to Tips For Travellers channel recommendation: Gary Bembridge. Oceania has a high crew to passenger ratio so service is very good, we’ll organized and happy crew.
Boarding and cleanliness were also very good.
Passengers were mostly elderly and crew looked after disabilities marvelously though about 10 passengers were clearly too unwell or infirm to travel.
