We selected this cruise based on two criteria: the itinerary and it was a HAL cruise. HAL is our absolutely favorite cruise line based on the service, value, dining and size of their ships. We really don't enjoy the large or very large cruise ships; taking a vacation w/ 3000 or more people in a very confined space is not my idea of a good time.
The itinerary was wonderful; 9 ports in the ...
It was not a good experience for a cruise trip. Oosterdam is a very old ship. It even lost all power more than 1 hour during our trip. Besides, I requested a 3-people balcony room but there was no sofa bed in my room. They asked me to sleep to the other room which was very far away from my room and it was so inconvenient. The good thing was that they finally asked somebody else to switch the ...
I chose this cruise because of the ports. I had been on many Mediterranean cruises before. I like the itinerary and the price of this one. I was contacted as soon as we got to our assigned room to confirm that I would attend a ceremony to get my bronze madallian for cruising with HAL over 100 days. How ironic! My friend and I chose an inside room this time to save money. We were shocked to see ...
We believe Holland America line to provide stylish cruising with elegance and sophistication at a reasonable cost. We like the traditional style of ship with spacious accommodation in the public areas and manageable numbers of passengers. The level of service provided but the Philipino crew is very high with great attention to personal comfort and forming a good relationship with the client to ...
This was our first ocean cruise; we did the Danube River cruise last year. At first we booked an outside with $100 credit. Then 6 months later, I noticed a balcony sale on the same ship, the Oosterdam. We were upgraded to a balcony for $300 Canadian less and got $400 U.S. onboard credit! I wonder if this is normal or were we just lucky?
The cabin was adequate with a two-seat sitting area, a ...
The beverage package is not of any value. Like most lines the internet package is expensive though the coverage was pretty good on this cruise. The coffee shop is a real weakness, the hours start at 8:00 which is late to wait for a real cup of coffee. The dining room was quite nice and the food there was excellent. The wine tasting event was very very poor, and the wine selection over all was ...
We enjoyed our cruise very much but were very disappointed with a couple of things.
Pros: Upgraded to an ocean view stateroom and also had a reduction of $1000 each on the original cost of the cruise
-Stateroom 1044 had a bathtub! A very nice surprise!
-The best stateroom attendant ever...Ronald...a very cheerful disposition and always ready to help
-Great bed, wonderful selection of ...
Although we have built up points on 13 cruises with another line we had heard good things about Holland America so we decided to give it a go when they made an offering with ports-of-call which were new to us. After spending a week in Lucignano we arrived at Cevitavecchia around 11 to find the streets mobbed with tourists. Do not be fooled, the north entrance by the traffic circle is the one to ...
We chose this cruise for the itinerary, which included the Riviera, several stops in Provence, and a stop for the Alhambra (although Granada was quite a distance from Almeria, it was worth the trip). We are 2 active Americans in our 30s, no kids. We went in late May and had PERFECT weather: only a few sprinkles here and there, temperatures never above 75 F!
We stayed one night in Rome fairly ...
Flew to Rome and spent an interesting 2 days. Trip was marvelous with the personnel outdoing themselves to assure our comfort. Great feeling on the ship and all ports visited. First Mediterranean cruise but have had many Carribean cruises which are entirely different. After traversing the Mediterranean we disembarked in Barcelona. Then we spent an extra 2 nites in center of city which is an ...
