The food was great
The staff were great
The room was great
But the entertainment was extremely poor - and what little was there - was repetitive and not good.
We met many people on board that stated they would never travel with Holland America again - because of the lack of entertainment.
There wasn't even anyone that we could go to make a complaint.
I tried to get onto the ...
This was our first Holland America experience after sailing on Royal Caribbean and Carnival. We picked this cruise because it was one of the few lines that visit Istanbul. Athens, Mykonos, Istanbul, Crete, and Olympia we’re all great ports. Things that were a disappointment on the ship: entertainment was sparse, food/drink service was not available at all times and ended at 11:30pm, and ...
It's not the same old Holland America since COVID-19.
We do understand that Carnival Corporation was just burning through money during Covid 19 and you can see it in their drastic cuts.
As a 3 star Mariner I must admit that it may be time to switch cruise lines.
The lack of onboard entertainment is very noticeable. Now instead of production shows we watch a comedian play with a Rubik's ...
First the good:
I am an avid cruiser, but I had never cruised Holland America before. I had some trepidation because I had heard that it skewed older. Not that I am a spring chicken, but I’m also not 70. At any rate, the cabins were of familiar size and the crew was excellent, although there was some inconsistencies in the bar, especially with the featured drinks, which you would think all ...
Going to Europe worst experience we ever had cruising will never use this cruise line again. Bought the all inclusive package and that's all they care about. Their tours were a complete joke. You are being hearded into buses like cattle. With people who were obviously sick for hours at a time. We attempted to speak to an officer to voice our complaint and were denied. Everything as far as the ...
This was the Dave Koz Cruise 2023. It was booked back in 2019 for 2021 then had to be cancelled due to Covid. The service on this ship was HORRIBLE. The Customer Service Desk was useless and the Food was very bad.
I admit that the Ports of Call on this cruise were amazing. The entertainment as always was some of the best. However, the service and the food were severely lacking. I ...
Beware of this ship!!! My cruise began with a huge stain on the couch in our stateroom. I also got food poisoning and as a result I was unable to go on the tour we had scheduled for the next day. I requested a refund but they denied it. The service was sub par but they still charged us $32 per day for poor service. The crew was unable to help with basic questions. In the dining room I asked that ...
We chose this transatlantic cruise and this ship because we wanted transportation to Europe, did NOT want to visit a lot of ports, wanted to relax at sea prior to a heavy sightseeing itinerary once we arrived, and for the entertainment and food advertised.
We were wholly disappointed. We were disappointed to the point that we would not want to travel on Holland America again.
The embarkation ...
First TA, right fare for an aft facing cabin on deck 8. Paid for HIA since no longer can bring on drinks. I did not get what I paid for. Changes were made to inclusions after I paid.wifi issues- no compensation, excursion cancelled- no appropriate substitution I was advised by shore excursion staff- so forfeited $120 OBC- would not let me use it for anything else and non refundable.
Could not ...
This was a 14 day trans-atlantic from Ft Lauderdale to Rome with 4 ports: two in the Azores and two in Spain. I've done over 50 cruises and about 10 were on HAL. I've always liked HAL's vibe - which is to appeal to seasoned travelers who appreciate discovering new places. I like days at sea and purposely picked this smaller, older ship after being on the Nieuw Statendam last summer (whose ...
