This was a Bucket list cruise. the Island Princess was nice and clean. Mini-Suite was very nice. enjoyed the larger space with the 10 day cruise. two TV was a nice thing. The Balcony was great for viewing the Canal. Food was fine and we enjoyed all the location options. Specialty restaurants were worth the money and a nice change. We had traditional dining at 5:15. Room service ...

My partner and I just completed a ten-day cruise, aboard the Island Princess, March 30 to April 9 round trip from Fort Lauderdale to the Panama Canal and Southern Caribbean The Problems with the Design of the Island Princess The ship was renovated in 2015. As part of the renovation/updating, Princess added about 300 passengers by increasing cabins/suites and eliminating public spaces. ...

A dud of a cruise

We were excited to be exploring Aruba, Columbia, and the Panama Canal. We boarded our ship and checked out our room, and got even more excited because the room was of good size, clean and the steward was outgoing. Then it was time for the safety drill. We came back to drop off the live vests, and there was a very noticeable odor in our cabin. An extremely noticeable sewerage odor. The steward said ...

Panama Canal 10-day round-trip from Fort Lauderdale FL

We had a great time. Pros: The itinerary was the strength of the cruise. Going through the Canal locks was a very interesting experience. Cons:The Island Princess ship is an older and smaller and it lacks the amenities of the larger and newer ships. Shore Excursions: Some of our shore excursions were amazing. Our favorites were the white water rapids tour in Costa Rica and Sting Ray ...

Panama Canal

Chose this cruise to revisit the Panama Canal. Itinerary was okay beyond that - too short a stay at a favorite island - Aruba - 7:30 am - noon. Not even enough time to go to one of my favorite beaches - Eagle Beach. Now about the Island Princess - third time on the Island - was on its first year in the line and then went through the Panama Canal from Acapulco to Puerto Rico. They have ruined ...

Panama Canal Partial Transit from Fort Lauderdale

We booked this cruise because of a great price and the travel dates. We can't take two weeks off work, so this 10-day cruise, Thu to Sun, was perfect and we only had to take a week+ vacation time. The Panama Canal is of course the highlight of the cruise and we definitely enjoyed the day spend at the Gatun Locks and Gatun Lake. We found the Island Princess to be a wonderful ship and did not ...

Not what we expected from Princess

We convinced our friends to cruise Princess after having a great cruise along the US West Coast 3 years earlier. We were embarrassed to have suggested Princess, The food was at best mediocre, and the service was horrendous. The attitude of the staff was the most disturbing part of the cruise. For every staff member who was helpful and courteous, there were 2 others who would ignore us or ...

Island Princess Panama Canal partial transit

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Island Princess

Not many cruise lines go through the Canal, which was the best part. Our biggest complaint was the dining. Anytime dining actually means anytime THEY want to seat you. Call after 8:00 each morning to make a reservation. Many times we were off the ship by then. Table for two, impossible. Service and food were unremarkable. Our room steward was excellent, proficient, polite, and always ...

We wanted to see the Panama Canal and Princess was one of the few lines that was suitable for us given our tight calendar limitations. We have taken numerous cruises on all the other major lines, but this was our first on Princess. We booked a suite, as we usually do and frankly were disappointed by the mediocre service. NO separate embarkation line, no concierge, no butler, no dedicated lounge. ...

Seeing the Panama Canal was on my bucket list. I was looking for a round trip cruise to/from Ft. Lauderdale and Princess was recommended by a friends niece. (I usually cruise Celebrity). Right from the start I would say the one word to describe this is 'disorganized'. I booked a full suite and asked for the best they had repeatedly saying I wanted to be pampered. The rep at Princess didn't ...
